Moves as much air (if not more) as an 8x10 fridge-cab, in half the size. It's heavy, but the wheels are heavy-duty, if a little hard to remove and replace. I gig 2-3 times per month in a hard rock band, and this cabinet always gets the job done. It has a switchable hi-frequency driver, but I never use it.

The cabinet sounds fantastic. Tight and punchy, with plenty of bottom. It requires a lot of power, and I'm putting 800w into it. I play with two half-stack-using guitarists. I've never had to turn up the amp past two, and every venue soundman comments on how great the cabinet sounds. My primary instrument is a Fender Jazz bass.

Never had a problem. The thing is solid as a rock. It has a thick carpet covering, and huge oversized corner protectors.

The warranty is five years. The only drawback I can think of is that the company doesn't sell covers. But they pointed me in the direction of a website that makes custom covers. So even that's not really a problem.

I've been playing for decades, and have owned or played through almost every brand of bass cabinet. In terms of size, sound, and price, nothing touches this cabinet. I wish it came in a 4-ohm version, or switchable ohmage, but that's not a big deal.

This speaker cab was built in March 2006. They built it right when I ordered it. After searching around for different 4x10 speaker cabs, I found this one to have all the features I want. It has 4 Eminence Legend 105 speakers and handles up to 300 watts at 8 ohms mono. With my 35 watt tube amp, it has a lot of headroom, and I can crank up pedal distortion and tube overdrive without clipping or vibrating. This cab is built from Medium Density Fiber and has solid pine bracing with a full 1" thick layer of polypropylene foam coating the inside. A lot of cab manufacturers criticize MDF, but after doing some research, I found that MDF is ideal for speaker cabs, especially closed-back. While a guitar is supposed to resonate with its solid woods, a speaker enclosure is supposed to stand still and project sound into the air. This is why a lot of audiophile-grade home audio equipment is constructed with MDF, unless solid woods are used for aesthetic purposes.

My main guitar is an Epiphone baritone with alnico V humbuckers which I am running into a 5F6 Bassman clone built by Jim Frenzel. This 4x10 cab sounds perfect for the styles I like, mostly heavier styles of rock and techno. The Eminece speakers perfectly handle clean tones, tube overdrive, and excessive pedal distortion. So far I have tested the cab out with my Boss MD-2 Mega Distortion, Keeley-modified RAT II, and Boss OS-2 Overdrive/Distortion (I have yet to connect it to my monstrous Vox ToneLab). The solid construction and the headroom really allow me to crank up without trembling one bit, and it sounds smooth from quiet settings all the way up to pedal distoriton mixed with tube overdrive.

I have only had this for a few days now, but I imagine this thing would survive massive expolsions if it had to. Over the past few days, I have been making it a point to play loud for extended periods in order to test its limits and to effectively break in the speakers. So far I am getting close to that 15 hours of needed break-in time, and the speakers are responding perfectly. Upon close inspection, the look and feel of this cab is solid and the craftsmanship is impressive.

During my search for a 4x10 cab, I found that most manufacturers' 4x10s cost about the same. As far as customer support, 2 names rose to the top: Basson Sound and Avatar. Shawn from Basson, Dave from Avatar, and a technician from Eminence all were prompt, polite, and informative when answering my questions. It was the guy from Tru Tone who returned arguement and condescending to my quesions and requests.
When dealing with Basson, there was no pressure, and no advertisement. All questions were answered with honesty, and after doing research, I found that the product stands on its own. I highly recommend Basson to anyone looking for a professional-level speaker cabinet.

I have been playing for 9 years now, and I have a Squier Stratocaster which I recently had "hot-rodded" at Ed Roman's. I also have an Ibanez 5-string bass and a 60w solid state Fender Bassman, and I have a collection of about 50 effect processors. I also have an Avatar 2x12 cab, and I plan to switch back and forth for different applications; both sound great, but each has its own characteristic voice. If this was lost or stolen, I would have to replace it. The sound is fantastic.
Compared to other brands, most are in the same price range, except the Avatar which is considerably less expensive. In this case I preferred the higher power handling of the Basson over the more vintage-voiced Avatar; I prefer Eminence speakers over the Mesa/Boogie's Jensens; Ear Candy does not offer a 4x10; the guy at Tru Tone was just freaking rude; and some other boutique manufacturers have 4x10 cabinets available, but they are a lot more expensive, and opting to replace the Jensen speakers with Eminence speakers would result in additional charges (I love Eminence speakers, and Basson Sound cabs come stock with Eminence). This unit is really a gem, and will be a main part of my rig for a long time.

I called Basson and talked to Shawn (it is not Scott) and he is sending me a new cab out. Said that they are thankful that I told them what was wrong with the cab, they want to have supperior QC, and that wasn't to their standard. That is the way all companies should be!

Your basic 8ohm cab loaded with Eminence Speakers. Not stereo, kinda wish it was.

Cuts through the mix very well, nice tight bottom end and singing highs that aren't harsh. Just gives a well balanced sound projection and really lets your amp and guitars tone come though. Everything is just so focused sounding, I really dig it.

Scott at Basson seemed really nice, but there packing when they shipped it was not fantastic.

I really like it a lot, it seems extemely sturdy and sounds great. The build quality was very good except for two minor details, the name plate on the front was not centered correctly and there was a 1/16 inch gap where the tolex seams come together in one of the corners. But other then that, I really like it and would for sure by another one if it got stolen. Way better then the Marshall 4x10s I have played. I will probably keep buying cabs from Basson, as long as they start to play a little more attention to details.
