I've been wanting one of these amps for awhile. My favorite style of music is surf, followed by the blues. I read where Dario (the owner of Gomez amps) was going to cease production of this model so I jumped on a chance to get one. A beautiful amp, especially in blond tolex/oxblood grill.
I have the Weber California speaker, man that's a massive speaker, it really fills the cabinet.
As for features, hmm, how to rate? This amp doesn't have a lot of features, only reverb and tremolo, but those features are second to none. The reverb goes nearly as deep as you would get with an outboard tank. I also have a Gomez reverb tank and it is almost superfluous with this amp, the main thing you gain with the outboard unit is additional controls. The tremolo is simply beyond comparison, capable of a very deep and musical sounding tremolo effect. Two input jacks, external cabinet jack, a two-button foot switch and a cover, that's it.

You buy a boutique amp for the sound, and in this case it really delivers. Think classic Fender but with more depth and detail. Strum a chord and each note rings clear. Surprisingly, with the 15" speaker the highs are still very distinct. The large speaker seems to give a lot of range, spanking lows to sparkly highs. This was with a Fender Jaguar. I tried it with a Fender Bass VI as well and was in heaven, the big speaker really delivering the low end thump.
Turn up the volume of the amp and it starts to drive the tubes harder and give a more complex character to the sound. I never pushed into heavy distortion, not sure it would distort like that, but a classic blues tone is easy to get with the volume up. I just hit my tube screamer pedal when I want to make it fuzzier.
Not sure how loud this gets, it is a low watt amp, but I bought it for its tone and don't intend to gig with it.

I've only had it for a short time, but honestly it's hand-built by a person who cares using the highest quality components he can find. I expect it will be as reliable as possible. I think there's also a five-year warranty on it.

Again, essentially a one-man shop so you deal with the owner at all stages. My e-mails have been responded to very rapidly, sometimes within mere minutes but never more than one day. So the customer support is as good as it gets. Dario hand delivered this amp to me, so that's hard to top!

I've played for over twenty years, but really just as a hobby. Not a pro or anything like that. I've been fortunate to collect some nice instruments and am finally putting some effort into amps and reverb tanks. Really should have done so sooner, since that's where the sound comes from. For me this amp is perfect, it allows me to play and not wake the neighbors while still getting the tones I want. I may look to get one of his higher wattage amps at a later time, but if you're like me and looking for a low wattage amp that really delivers the tone I'd suggest this amp. I think the gomezamps website has some sound samples still with this amp.

I recently purchased the Gomez ???G??? Reverb-Amp. This is a 12 Watt amp modeled after the classic Fender Princeton Reverb. The Gverb has the beautiful tone of the Princeton, but has been enhanced with a 15??? speaker, superior reverb, and thicker tremolo. The Gverb is an all hand wired, all tube amp, built with high quality components. Although a lower wattage classification, this is a loud amp. It is also easy to transport, weighing only 36 pounds.
Sound Quality
:10
The Gverb has a surprisingly high amount of variation in the tones that is can produce. Below are several different settings and my attempt at describing the characteristics that are produced. There is no substitute for hearing this amp, but words will have to suffice for this review. The guitars employed were a MB '51 Nocaster and a MB '60 Stratocaster.
These are the ???Jim Campilongo??? Princeton settings. Quite clear tone, with singing highs and very articulated lows. Chords have excellent string separation, as you hear all of the notes that comprise the chord. No muddiness at all. With the guitar backed off, this is a surprisingly clean and powerful tone.
This is overdriven, but with no fuzziness at all. This sounded quite nice. A lot of power, but under control. Bar chords sounded great. Non-bar chords had plenty of carry and excellent articulation. There was enough sustain to be able to play lead even without the 'verb.
This is a nice setting for lead without a tank. The on-board reverb is wonderful, the best of any boutique or reissue that I have heard. You can immediately tell that the knowledge that Dario has from making standalone reverb units has found its way into his built-in amp reverb. An interesting attribute is that when you palm mute, the sounds come back at you straight from the center of the speaker and are exceptionally clear.
This is an intense searing tone. The chords just ring on and the bass notes have a little nastiness to them. The tremolo gives it a swampy aspect, with a nice slow oscillation. This tremolo is very precise and provides a much broader spectrum than your typical Fender amp. Once you try this trem, you won't go back to playing without it.
OK, reverb on full. Can you say cavern? It's not quite the drip sound of Dario's external reverb unit on maximum, but it is the next best thing. This reverb setting is all-encompassing, like you are at the bottom of a well. This was a good setting for fast double picking. This is more a lead setting than for bar chord rhythm, but the non-bar chords had excellent note separation.
This is my favorite setting. Pretty tones, plenty of sustain, and nice reverb. The chords are clear, articulated, and full of presence. There is a lot of power in reserve at the guitar volume knob. This is a beautiful, clean tone that packs a lot of punch.
That's just a small sample of the tones that the amp can produce. The broad range of the reverb and tremolo certainly contribute to the variability of the tonal options.

This is a recent purchase of a brand new amp. However, the build quality is excellent. The components are high quality and the attention to fit and finish is superior. My expectation is that the amp will be very reliable.

Dario Gomez is the owner of the company and you deal directly with him, unless you purchased from a retailer. Dario is a solid guy and is a pleasure to work with. You just cannot ask for any better service. If you e-mail him, he will get right back to you same day or sooner. Dario hand delivered my amp and he had me pull out my guitar to make sure that everything was functioning perfectly.

Compared to other boutique amps of similar excellent quality, such as Carr, Swart or Victoria, the Gverb is quite reasonably priced. Some people will always be attracted to the vintage Fender amps and are not averse to the process or costs of restoration. More power to them. However, there is a market for people seeking the quality of the vintage amps, but built brand new today. The Gverb is built the way that Fender used to build its amps. My bottom line is that the Gverb is a great amp and I'm really glad to own one.
If you have an interest in the Gverb, you may have to hurry. My understanding is that Dario is allocating his time and attention heavily to the Surfer amp, along with production for the El Sonido amp and the G-Spring reverb unit. There are no production runs scheduled for the Gverb. So what's out there is probably it. There are a couple of Gverbs at Buffalo Brothers and one at Rockit Music. Gomez Amplification may have some additional units in its own inventory.

I only give this amp an 8 because it's as simple as can be. I hate master volumes, effects loops, and other garbage on my amps, so for me it would be a 10, but for some, it would be lacking. I play rockabilly, blues, swing jazz, and other roots styles, and it's got every feature I could ask for.
Sound Quality
:10
Simply put, the single best amp I've ever played. Some friends at Buffalo Brothers had told me how smokin' these amps are, so I decided to try one for myself. I started out with a 1959 Guild T-100 Slim Jim with P-90 style pickups, and was blown away! Far and away the best on board amp reverb I've ever played. When I finally get one of these, it may be time to retire the ol' reverb tank. Every tone was smooth and remarkable. The cleans are unreal! Rich and warm. The amp doesn't overdrive much, but it starts to break up nicely at higher volumes. Great blues sound. Also played through a strat and a Les Paul with equal success. I love this amp!

Best amp I've ever played, and I've played through more than I can remember. Simple as that. If you can, get one of these as fast as you can. I'm putting money in the piggy bank as I'm writing. I'd give the amp a ten, but it's just a little pricey for me.

This is a boutique/custom style amp modeled after the vintage Fender Princeton, with built in reverb and tremolo that plays louder than its 14 watt rating. Mine came in Blonde rough tolex with oxblood grill cloth, a 2 spring reverb, and a 15 inch Weber Californian. The G-Reverb is targeted at the "surf guitar" crowd but if pushed is great for blues, jazz or rock n' roll. As a "surf amp," the looks are just stunning--really captures that 60's surf vibe. It's simple, with one channel, no effects loop or headphone jack, but if you're after that 60's "clean" sound without the clutter of a bunch of bells and whistles, this is the amp. The reverb in particular is the best built-in reverb I've played, and the amp performs great without an outboard tank. It's a "10" for surf guitar, but I rated versatility as an "8" only because it's not intended as an amp for all purposes.
Sound Quality
:10
If you're looking for that 60's "Fender clean", this is where the amp excells. I play mainly through a Jazzmaster, but the amp also sounds great through my Telecaster for "twang" or "Rock-a-Billy" and an Ibanez Howard Roberts that I pull out once in awhile for that warm, hollowbody sound. The 15 inch Weber Californian produces crisp highs and lows and that "concert hall" tone without the neighors calling the police. It will distort "naturally" if pushed. It's not cluttered or muddied up with a bunch of "features" than can only go wrong--No push-me pull-me knobs, no "brights" no "loops", no "effects"--just plain, straight forward tone.
Dario also offers a 12 or 15 inch Jensen P15N instead of the Weber--your choice.
Reliability

I have owned the amp for about 6 months with no problems. Looking inside, it's built like a tank.
Customer Support

Dario is the best. His is a small operation out of San Diego, but he has given me personal attention to every question--even drove up to L.A. to help set it up, change the bias, switch some tubes, etc. He offered a three spring reverb as well, but believe it or not, it was "too much" for my style. Customer service is A++ with this guy.

I've only been playing a few years and mainly as a hobby/noodler. I'm no expert on amps by any means, but I researched websites, guitar forums, demo-ed different brands and guitar shops, and the G-Reverb was the amp for my needs. Don't let the 14 amp rating fool you--this amp gets plenty loud. I don't gig, but I have no doubt it would be more than fine for small venues. Its good size with the 15 inch speaker, but only weighs about 35 lbs.
If you want more power, Dario also offers a 40 watt "El Sonido" head [like a Bassman] and a 100 watt "Surfer" [like a Showman head] and a selection of speaker cabinets, that have gotten great reviews.

Okay, I recently bought a Gomez ?G? Reverb-Amp. Here is my review.
The semi-important stuff: The amp was completely immaculate & clean. The wiring was done with great craftsmanship. The amp is ascetically gorgeous. The vintage blonde is very pleasing to the eye, and it has the complete retro surf vibe. It is also very light weight, I think around 36 pounds.
Sound Quality
:9
The real important stuff: The ?G? Reverb amp sounds awesome. The 15?? Weber alnico speaker is very crisp and clean. There are no harsh highs with this amp and the bass sound stays well defined and clear. You can have an extremely bright sound or a nice bassy sound which I prefer. It really nails the vintage surf sounds that groups like The Chantay?s, The Bel-Airs, and The Pyramids have made so famous. One of my favorite bands of all time is the Ventures. I have never been able to match their tone, although I have not been able to do it with the ?G? Reverb Amp, I have come closer than with other amps I?ve used in the past.. But they were not a surf band anyway so that is
beside the point.
Reverb: Really good surf reverb without using an outboard! To me an outboard is unmatched, but this is pretty damn good. Now Dario told me he was including a 3 spring reverb pan, but it comes with a 2 in stock. I forgot to check it, so I will have to ask him which he included with mine. I will get back to this when I have more detail.
Tremolo: Sounds good to me, and I won?t need a pedal. Good work here Mr. Gomez.

This amp is a single channel with hi/lo inputs.Straight in your face controls. No foo foo stuff here.Volume ,treble,bass,reverb,speed,intensity.12 watts but sounds way louder.Had a Orange 15w class A and this sounds better.(IMHO)
I'm not in a band so I don't know how it'll mix.I play at home and this is the amp for me.Would be great for studio work and probably small venues. I give it a 10 because it is perfect for what I use it for.

I play Surf, spaghetti western,C&W and early 60's late 50's stuff.I bought this without the speaker that comes with it.I'm using a Heppner 15" I got from the guys at Tone Tubby.Have a Weber Cali on order also.
My guitar at the moment is a Fender Jagmaster, but has a USCG compound 24" scale neck and T.V.Jones Magnatron p.ups upgrade.Set up works perfect for the style I play.Have a Tele I'm building with a S.D.Vintage 90 at the neck and a Kinman 48 at the bridge. Can't wait for that to be completed.
The amp is quiet as can be when on.I got the 3 spring reverb and that is the best I've heard...Incuding Fenders. The vibrato/tremolo is also very unique.Thick and pulsating turned up,plus....NO ANNOYING ticking sound!!!
With the Heppner I get that bit of "hair" when I turn the volume past 4-5.Haven't needed to go past that...yet.

I bought this on ebay, and made him the offer.Only had the sound bytes off his wesite to go by,and this amp sound better than the bytes,so I'm glad I took the chance.Has all the features I wanted.Would get another if something happened to it.

The G-Reverb is based upon a point to point wired 12 watt blackface Princeton Reverb circuit with updates and tweaks that give it more depth and improved versatility. I am a Fender man at heart, and always seem to be drawn back to the Princeton or Deluxe Reverb sound. Fender blackface cleans and overdriven blackface amps are the standard upon which I judge other amps.
This amp is a definite improvement upon a preCBS Fender Princeton Reverb design with nearly all the features that work for most guitarists including a 15 inch Alnico speaker and a swampier reverb and tremolo. The builder of the amp is focused upon delivering a high quality product. The Tolex is perfect, the amp is built with top quality components, and the point-to-point solder joints are perfect. The onboard reverb has its own driver like outboard reverb units. The amp chassis is extra heavy gauge steel.

When compared to other tube circuits, smaller 6v6 amps have a different EQ curve and breakup point with more going on in the high end. At lower volume, they make better use of the EQ to give a great clean tone. This amp has Fender sparkle, shimmer, and twang. It has a definite vintage vibe. The cleans are simply stunning. I can turn the amp up loud enough to get the output section to breathe and it remains clean. When turned up to around 6, the amp tone fills out and sounds full - apply a little more pressure to your picking and you have quality tube distortion at your fingertips.
12 watts is just about perfect for most venues. It sounds fantastic, and I can run it at 5-7 without it being ear-splittingly loud. The G-Reverb sounds best when around 6 than when fully cranked. It breaks up late, around 7. The breakup is nice - not as distorted or raw sounding as a tweed or a Champ. I can crank the G-Reverb for natural overdrive, and the reverb and 15inch speaker give it a 3 dimensional sound. The amp gives up its goods at relatively low volume. Though only 12 watts, it is loud - loud enough for most applications.
Most amps get blurry when pushed and the definition in lows is lost - the 15inch speaker solves much of that. It is definitely loud enough for a small gig, and loud enough for rock or blues jams with a reasonable drummer - it will cover most everything but outdoor stuff where it can be miked. The G-Reverb benefits from an overdrive to push the power tubes. The Fender blackface sound is perfect as a platform for pedal stacking - a MJM Blues Devil, or a Janglebox is great for use as a boost. When boosted, it keeps up with a drummer. The G-Reverb has a nice swampy reverb and tremolo. For a low wattage amp, it sounds big - the 15inch speaker gives the potential for smooth jazz tones.

Being brand spanking new, I have had no problems. It is well built with serious high quality components and construction. I doubt reliability will be a concern.

The amp arrived packed separately from the tubes, amp cover, and spring reverb pan. The packing was meticulous and professional.
Within hours of its arrival at my door, Dario Gomez (the builder) called me at his expense to ensure my satisfaction with the purchase. We talked about my style of play, what I was expecting from the amp and he offered helpful advice. The amp comes with a Five Year warranty that is transferable. Dario said if I EVER had a problem, I only needed to ship it to him and he would solve it immediately.
I ordered the amp with an optional 3spring reverb pan. I mentioned it may be too much for me. At his expense, Dario shipped a 2spring reverb pan to my door and told me to keep the 3spring reverb pan! Customer Service does not get any better than that.
Dario is an extremely nice guy with an obvious enthusiasm for his design and his continued support of it.

I have been playing since 1971. I play this amp in addition to a Tone King Comet 40B and a 65Amps London. I have two custom strats, an ES-335, an ES-347, and a Godin LGXT. I bought this amp because I needed a reliable low wattage amp with high quality tone that was easy to lug around to rock or blues jams.
I am skeptical of 40 year old amps. Electrolytics have to be changed in old amps, the trannys have to be inspected, and it takes a good $300 to $500 to modify an old Princeton Reverb to add a good speaker, modify wiring, and add a baffle for a bigger than 10inch speaker. An old Fender is difficult to buy over the internet ? you never know what you are getting... Were the speakers reconed? Does it have the original transformers? Does it have the original tolex grill cloth? Is the original footswitch included? Are there any other mods? When you modify it to make it more useful or replace filter caps, the speaker, or add a grounded plug, you lower the value. If you play it, you can blow speakers, transformers, or ruin original parts. I am a player, not a collector.
The G-Reverb allays all of those fears and replaces them with a reliable newly-manufactured amp with outstanding customer support if it is ever needed. I would definitely buy another one. This amp is perfect for the music I play.

Brand New amp... Fender goodness, modern designs, but vintage feel and tone... the best thing about this amp, and there are many... is it is a 1-15 12 Watt amp. The 15 is such a great idea, plenty of bottom, lots of air moving, loud enough... the tremolo and reverb are excellent for surf, swamp, r&b, country... I'd imagine with a zendrive or some such animal this would be a really really nice rock amp too... Clean looking, when I first saw it, I thought kinda cool version of a super (but with 1-15 and only 12 watts so you can crank it and get the super goodness without the dbs. I tried this out at a really good store in San Diego... It is a very cool 6V6 amp.

Very quiet, just well built, solid and very cool!
