the tru-tone amp is a 2watt head, hand built by jon truba from ireland. it's a multifunctional low watt amp.
i own a model about 1,5 19" rackunits high, built in "soft case" manner (with softened edges, great feature!)
it's a amp for all purposes from 'practicing at home' to 'pre-amp
feeding huge poweramps van-halen-like'.
it has bass, treble, mid, pre-amp volume, master volume, operation
level (sort of post-master control) and boost as well as eq-lift/boost
option. a serial effect loop is included, too!
the boost can be switched with a footswitch included.

the handling is easy to anybody that has a tube amp, especially those
who got two preamps.

i ordered it after i read about it at
http://www.amptone.com/g200.htm or
http://www.amptone.com/jaytronicstrutone.htm
and still think it's a special amp that could satisfy a lot of guitar
players.

Sound Quality : 10
i own the amp two years now and use it very often. i use the internal speaker, feed my hiwatt poweramp or simply run it over my closed and open cabinets (no impedance fuzz with 2 watts!).
the sound goes from nice&clean to world revolution! i think it sounds a bit like a vox-like amp. it can get really mean with the real powertube distortion. it has wonderful overtones that don't get teasing, but when i move the parametrics in the mix, it shines!
i use with every stompbox i have and it works great! as i mostly play rock styles, it's quite a killer also for traditional tones. i use all my guitars with it. during the last days, i push it into direction of those midrangey, somewhat fuzzy jimmypage-tones (blackdog-rhythm guitar...).

Reliability : 8
no hiss, no buzz, nothing strange. i haven't used it live yet...

Customer Support : 10
although john truba has no internet access (yet), he's a real specialist and is ready to modify the tru-tone due to Your suggestions.

Overall Rating : 10
i am quite a boring old fart now, playing guitar for about nearly 25 years. the tru-tone amp is something new, stemming from something very old: low wattage amps. it's made to be driven into tube saturation and it does it well!
i use it as a recording amp and it is one of my faves of all time. i use it for bass and distorted keyboards, too. it's an allrounder if You don't mind the basic sound.

it's really marvelous: all the outputs, all the sounds, the built-in
internal small speaker (not only for practice, but a sound with great
attack)sound BAD TO THE BONE!!!
i use it for bass recording, too!
at first glimpse, it seems to be a bit muddy with less tone control
range, but it works great in the mix because of his magnificient
overtones. the sound is from very delicate to "anarchic tube sound of
the world reviolution".
this tool is a hit.

Reliability : 9
i own it just for about 3 months, but i ever have to feed an
van-halen-like guitar"castle", this will be my choice! it's handbuilt in a
massive way and the "soft rack" feature is a gas.

i own quite a few tube amps, but this is super-effective with a sweet,
warm to grungy tone and powertube-burst at livingroom volume! this
amp will be the apple of many guitarplayers' eye!!!

try it Yourself! if it was stolen, i would chase that su?%$ around the globe...
i guess it's quite similar to the vox amps...
