This amp Cabinet is pretty killer it has 350 watts of power so more than enough for 1,2 or even three heads!!!.it has 1/4 speaker jack. it has 12" sheffeild 1200's speakers. the cabinet can handle pretty much what ever i put infront of it.it has a tight low end and is very warm too.

i play death metal, shred and jazz fusion:P and it handles all that. this amp cabniet is very ballsy/bassy but can give you that sparkle to your clean which i like it has a tight low end.ive played vintage 30's and i found them very brittle and raspy. this cabinet has sheffeilds 1200 i find them very warm but still packs a tight low end punch too some what like a marshall 1960's cab but cheaper XD.
it can handle anything you put infront of it as said before. i use many amps though this cabinet i uses a peavey transtube supreme head from 1980's for my metal and fusion tones and i use my ENGL Fireball for my sparkling cleans and death metal tones and it handles all that no problem what so ever.
people have said in other reviews it "rattles and farts" i've had my engl fire ball and my peavey supreme head at 10 and not the slightest rattle what so ever at all. though my old cabniet the marshall 1960B that rattled on my and farted and i couldn't stand it. i think the cabinet is very versitile.

this amp has never "rattled or farted" unlike my old marshall 1960B cabinet. i've never used a back up with this cab its built like a tank. it has metal handles and they have never failed me. the speakers have never blown on me i and dont think they will. i've did my own mini tour in canada i went to montreal all during the winter then to toronto then to barrie ontairo then hamilton then to thunder bay then back to montreal in a 2 month basis and it went through the real test and all it has is a few little nicks nothing else.

it does have a 1/4 and xlr jack, so that is nice. 16 ohms. bout the extent of features on a cab. this cab is def for metal, and that is what i'm using it for and its a dream.

the sound is unbelievable. i read some reviews on hear about people getting their cab and it, "farting." I didn't know what that meant, until i got mine and it started farting. it either sounded like a rattling or ripped speaker... so we opened it up and sure enough the speaker wasn't tight enough, we tightened it up and put it back together. i started playin it... and it wasn't as bad but there was still a really bad buzzing sound. i got this thing used on co-signment at a local muisc shop and i wasn't able to take it back so i was nervous. but we figured out it was the back panel rattling because the cab is so LOUD! so we took it apart again got some carpet padding put it on the sides so that it was tighter and wouldn't rattle. ever since then it has worked like a dream. this thing is soooo loud. i use to use a crappy Marshall MD cab, and this thing is more than double as loud, it is insane

take the back pannel off and just look at the speakers... the magnets are HUGE! like i said i got this used so i don't know how well it was set up when new, because the previous owner did some mods, like changing the casters and leaving the holes from the old one. i'm going to cover them up and try and get it as air tight as possible, i can't even put my amp over like 4 to play now, and i'm in a hardcore band.
this thing looks like a tank, and is built like a tank, which is good since i'm gona be taking it on the road every weekend and months at a time in the sumer.
i just bouth this so i don't know how reliable it is, but its built well.

i love this thing. my other guitarist has a Marshall mode 4,and its one of the nicest cabs that marshall makes, and i would choose my 5150 over it any day. i play on a gibson sg and a peavey valve king head(can't beat for the price, but saving up to get either 5150 head or 6505. my outfit sounds awesome right now w/just the vavle king and i can't wait to get a 6505.) like i said i play in a hardcore band, like meltalcore type of stuff. if you are wanting a crunchy, gritty, powerfull cab than this is the cab for you. i'll say this once more... i love this cab.... if your wanting a cab that is versatile and works for many differnt genre's well then i would say else where. i don't play the clean stuff my other guitarist does, so i don't have to worry bout that. but i'm giving it a 9 because it does EVERYTHING i want it to, but its not a super versatile cab like i said.

It's just like a basic 4 12" cab. It runs either stereo or mono so thats more features then most cabs right there. Also the wheels on the bottom are definately a plus.

I use ibanez guitars and play shred, metal, neoclassical etc.. The cabinet suits it perfectly. I see people complaining about the low end but thats because they don't let the bass players do their job, guitars aren't meant to shake the house. The speakers look cheap, but sound amazing, and yes the distortion is amazing.

As most of you know peavey make very strong and durable products, the 5150 cab is no exception.

I've been playing for almost 3 years, I own another fender amp and a few other guitars. If it were stolen I would not buy another one only because I would try other brands first. What I love about it is the tightness of the sound; everything is together.

I'm using an Ibanez RG with Seymour Duncan JB in the bridge and a '59 in the neck. I use the Peavey 5150 head and it is perfect for my style (metal/rock) I wouldn't call this the most versatile amp in the world but compared to most other high gain amps it's pretty damn versatile. Clean gets distorted at high volumes which I happen to like anyway. THe distortion is awesome, it makes the amp. I tried the amp with a Marshall 1960B Cab and It didn't sound close to as good as it does with the 5150 cab.

I've been playing for 5 years and it is my favorite cabinet besides the mesa boogie recto cabs. My friends all have marshall cabs and this thing sounds much better in my opinion. I'm giving the cab a 10 because it's a great value, not considering the price I'd still give it a high 8. Mesa Boogie Rectifier cabs sound better, but at about double the price.

This is a 16 ohm cab with 4 16 ohm 12" speakers wired in series/parallel, i think it can handle 300 watts the speakers were made in england thats all i remeber from having the back panel off a year ago. It's a mono cab with two 1/4 jacks so you can hook another cab to it. It has that weird snake skin tolex, it's allready starting to peal around the edges. also it has a block of wood inside mounted in the middle with a screw on the end that touches the back panel. this cab is enough for me it's nothing too special.

I play through an ampeg v4 100 watt head made in 1976 (i bought the head and the cab from a friend for 275!!!) with either an american standard strat or a cheap squire that i equipped with a dimarzio supra distortion that i bought for 20 bucks repotted, the pedals i use are a boss ds-1 distortion to add a little extra gain, a 535 crybaby wah wah (which sounds like pooh!)and ocassionally a boss tr-2 tremolo(that sounds decent.I play anything from blues to punk what ever i can learn and play especially hendrix. On clean channel sounds fine, if i have too much low end it rattles and carry's on but i think i might try to tighten everything like someone suggested in thier review of one of these just too see if it brings about any major changes. On the distortion channel once again the bottom end brings out some weird vibrating noises but that is when it's totally cranked cause the head i use is known for it's bottom end. so ill give it an 8 cause bottom end in this cab could sound a little better.

This cab has never given me any major problems except for that snake skin tolex thats peeling. speakers seem like they are in good shape, but im not an expert. I don't feel i would need a back up if i would gig with it. I don't have a back up for it;->

I've only been playing for a couple of years and this cabinet seems to have a decent sound when played through my ampeg. I have a fender M-80 1x12 combo that sounds decent but im a tube man. i also have a 1969 fender bassman that i got refurbished that i play through a beatup 2x12 fender showman cab both were bought from a freind for only 60 bucks!!!. This cabinet is all i need and i got it for dirt cheap. If it were lost of stolen i would try to find another cheap cab but i think i would look for something that was more fitting for my ampeg. I just wish this didn't have that stupid snake skin tolex because it peels when ever it gets a little bump. If it weren't for that snake skin and the weird rattling i would give this cab a ten.

This is a very great cabnet, It is versitile for all types of music. I personally play Dream Theater, Malmsteen, Satriani, and Vai. But as far as features go, It's got two different types of inputs and can hold 300 watts of power.

I use an Ibanez RG350DX with a Boss MT-2 and a Dunlop Wah. It is great for metal and crunchy distortion and it puts out decent clean tones as well. The cabnet is very quiet with my guitar. I can get some close sounds with Petrucci (one of my favourites). I just need an effects rack and a 5150 head to fine tune my sound. Right now I'm driving the cab with an Envoy 110.

My cab was part of the original production of the 5150 amp line so it was made around 93' 94'. The sheffield 1200 speakers read "EVH 5150" instead of just "5150" ,as what is on the speakers that are made currently(they are the same speakers though just marked a little different). There are two input jacks one 1/4" jack and one high current xlr jack. There are 4 casters which need a second nut on top of the one that's already on it so the bolt doesn't wiggle loose(very easy to fix). The top 2 speakers are on an angle as to project the highs and the bottom pair are parallel to the ground. The speakers are rear mounted and the rear panel is held on by 16 screws. The cabinet seems very rugged and is made of 3/4" plywood(i think), there are two recessed handles that help make transporting the cab a bit easier. These features are what van halen wanted so those that complain to peavey for not putting stereo switching on it or whatever should be complaining to van halen.

I use a wolfgang guitar and an 89'(i think) peavey falcon active strat copy guitar through a small rack of preamps and a 5150 head. This cab projects very well and doesn't fart out on me because i keep all the panels and speakers nice and tight. The bottom end is nice and chuggy and if the amp is dialed in right you get a very nice mix of mids and highs, but the speakers have an overall darkness to them. The speakers don't fart out people! it's neglect from users that don't take care of their equipment, the cab goes through tremendous amounts of vibration no wonder stuff gets loose. Another thing that causes rattle is the center support block but i fixed that by glueing a piece of thick styrofoam to it, i don't have any rattle whatsoever from the cab.

This cab looks like it has been through 7 or 8 years of gigging the tolex is torn in a multitude of places but the structure is very solid, the speakers seem to be holding up quite well. The only thing i had to do when i got it was tighten down all the screws and add a nut to the bolt on each caster to prevent it from coming loose.

My cab was ragged when i got it(that's why it was so cheap) but what it lacks in appearance it makes up in sound. If it were lost or stolen i may buy the straight cab because my guitarist uses that and there is less high end because the speakers aren't pointing at ur head. I used to use a peavey 412ms which i liked at first but after i realized the speakers had no throw i was disgusted and sold it right away. The 5150 cabs are excellent made cabs, they sound great and they cost around 500 new so where can you go wrong????

i play hamer guitars californian, and custom archtop, both with seymour pickups, and use a mesa dual rectifier head. the cab sounds good on the clean channel but,the distortion SUX,,that cab must be made for the 5150 only, but then again the 5150 head has the resonance feature that leads you to believe that this cab can handle the bass and low end chunk, but im here to tell you metal fans it cant, even at moderate levels the speakers loose definition and fart out, like they are trying to bust wide open.i was very dissatisfied with the sound.and to me it didnt sound that much better with a 5150 head through it either,i am currently saving for a mesa recto cab, which is alot more money, but like the old saying you get what you pay for.and with the 5150 cab i got a fart in a plywood box!

i think eddie alone made these 5150 products what they are,if they had to stand on their own with no endorsements they probably wouldnt be on the market today { just my opinion } ..peavey does however have a killer website better than anybody.and although i have gave low reviews of this products i would probably still use some of their gear as backup.
