Features : No Opinion
this peavy deuce combo was the first decent amp I bought, along with an Ibanez blazer series strat lookalike without the trem (I hate guitars with trem,s). 1978 was the year I bought it, but by boy this combo is heavy

Sound Quality : No Opinion
this amp doe's not sound good with single coil pickups, but use humbuckers and you can get smooth crunch and well defined overdrive.(don't expect marshall overdrive) The reverb is the well tested and tried spring, but don't take it above 5 cos it gives a lot of feedback. This combo can get up to 80 watts very clean, so it's great to use foot stompers with. It's output is 120 watts but don't use on full co's it farts. The black widdow speakers it came with were a great sound, but I changed them to celestions wich gave a mellow crunch with bass, but not overpowering. On stage don't D/I mike it up and you will feel the difference(never mind hear it)

Reliability : No Opinion
this amp is the most reliable amp on the market, I now use it on top of an 18 inch carlsboro bass cab just so I can hear it peirce me lugs with top end treble. Well worth the money I paid for it

Customer Support : No Opinion
never had to contact c/s co's this amp is so reliable.Well my warranty ran out in 1981, but if you call them they are very helpful. But I'm lucky sound control in newcastle have a dedicated tech/guy who know's this amp inside out.

Overall Rating : No Opinion
I been playing 30 years, but am not a pro.I only a bedroom player now. my wife bought me a gibson 335 57 reissue in september and this is the best guitar to show off this amp.If this amp was to be stolen I would probably look for another one but if I couldn't get one I would stick with my backup carlsboro stingray tranny combo

The amp was made in the USA in the mid '70 ies, valve power amp with 4 6l6 tubes, and a ss preamp, 4 channels, 90-120 watts... One or two channels are good, the others are useless... distortion channel is horrible... the clean is week... but the paralell and series channels are good. Reverb is not bad, the two 12" speakers are made by Eminence. So, you need external effects to use this amp in good quality, eq, distortion is useful for a good sound...

Sound Quality : 9
If you need tube power, it's perfect, it's loud, and it's easy to use for almost every kind of music. It's up to you. Perfect solution for working musicians, or for those who don't want to spend too much money on good gear. This amp costs less than a new ss amp made in china, and it sounds like any tube amp under 1500 euros... you can get them between 100 and 400 euros...
With my effects ( DOD bass eq, octopus, Cry Baby, Artec analog delay, Marshall Suprvibe and a custom made ts 808... ) and guitars ( '78 Greco LP Standard,Line6 Variax 700 both made in japan... )it sounds great. Before I bought it, I played a concert on a Fender Twin... this amp can sound the same...

Reliability : 10
It was built to use... like the Volvo 240 series... if you have problem with it, every technician can fix it in one our... you can depend on it...

Customer Support : 10
Peavey... one of the best customer support in music bussiness... nice guys, perfect engineers...

Overall Rating : 9
I play the guitar since 1994, had several rock bands... Used Marshalls, Fender, Mesa, Vox, Orange, Line6 valve, some no name and Laboga amps... most of them were much expensive than this Peavey, but not much better... some of them were even worse... so what to say? Perfect price, quality, sounds good... If it were stolen I would buy an other one ( but who steals an amp which is worth nothing and weigths 35 kilos... ) Maybi if I become a vell payed famus musician I buy some Laboga fullstack for bigger gigs, but until it is only a hobbie it's perfect...

Made sometime in the mid /late 70's,this is a hybrid amp with a transistor pre amp and a valve power amp. It has an effects loop and a footswitch with reverb and phase controls. I only use the clean channel, if I want effects I use pedals. The tone is the only feature Im interested in, but the reverb pretty good, and the phaser is as good as most pedals Ive heard.

Sound Quality : 9
When I bought this, I was advised to buy a Sonic Maximiser, which I did. The difference is quite astounding. Without the Maximiser, the Deuce is a really fine amp, but with the Sonic Maximiser, its unbelievable. Try the Pepsi challenge with a Fender Twin and I know what you'll choose. My band recently opened for a well known Blues band whose guitarist used a Blackface Twin, but when he heard the Duece with the Maximiser he asked if it was ok for him to use it. I play almost everything and although I sometimes use a Strat, my main guitar is a Yamaha AS800 - THE best 335 Ive ever owned, and that includes two '68 models and a couple of stunning early 80's Ibanez AS80 and AS100. Anyway, back to the amp. I prefer the clean channel and use pedals when neccessary, but the built in reverb and phaser are really all I need apart from an octaver.

Reliability : 10
These are heavy amps, so make sure that your wife or girlfriend can carry it before buying! They are not only built like tanks, but probably use tank parts. Its 30 years old. Peavey these amps for working musicians, no fancy tweed or chrome control plates. You wont gety a better amp without spending stupid money, and even then..

Customer Support : No Opinion
Never used them.

Overall Rating : No Opinion
Ive been playing since the early 70's and have owned too many amps, mainly Fenders. A couple of Concerts[very good], a silverface Twin and a couple of Deluxe Reverbs. Ive also had a couple of Traynors - also great value, and a couple of old Carlsbro valve amps which were too harsh for my taste, probably good for Rock though. I love the simpleness of it, but more so, the look on peoples faces, not to mention other guitar players when I plug it in. paid ??200 for it and another ??40 for a 2nd hand Sonic Maximiser, and I think its the best amp Ive ever owned. Due to its weight, its going to require a pretty hefty thief to run off with it, but should that happen, then yes, I would buy another, simply because Ive heard nothing better. Its unbelievable why these sell for so little and Twins for so much, like they say, if you see one, but it, but dont forget the Sonic Maximiser!

Simple, straightforward & very loud. Hybred tube power amp, solid state pre. Effects loop

Sound Quality : 9
I want to keep this simple. Some people have complained about the solid state pre. Simple fix. Get one of those $30 art tube preamps & problem solved. Especially if you don't want to use it full blast which truthfully would be too loud for most situations less than a large hall. A sonic maximizer in the effects loop is a really good addition as well. I playa Les Paul Standard, A Epi SG, 1959? Fender Duo Sonic, Corral Electric Sitar, Electric ukeleli, Ibanez ST50, Fender Strat, Fender Jazzmaster and a theremin. Folk rock, paychedellic, Celtic, blues jazz, country, space -covers 'em all well.

Probably the only amp I would be willing to go on the road with without a backup. Bought mine used when it was all I could afford but continue to use it even though I can afford if not the best then a good mid priced (Fender Twin price range). In fact bout a twin reissue & took it back because I liked my $150 wonder better. Look around - I saw one on craigslist the other day for $100

This VT Series Amp was made in late 70's has 2 Channels also effect loop a Line out, auto mix. This amp is the nemesis of Fender Twin. This particular amp has been overhauled with Mesa Boogie yellow and blue pairs of 6L6GC tubes and 2 8ohms 150watt speakers. So with these modification has really made this amp very versitile. Also power output has gone thru the roof can be extremely loud.

Sound Quality : 9
This amp can go from clean to very dirty without distortion effects. Also can pretty much stay clean the louder it gets, but to each personality has their on opinion. I use a modified Fender Strat that has EMG SA pickup with active electronics. Work great with either digital or Analog effects. I have also use my ADA split cabinets with this amp.

Reliability : 10
Have used this amp without a backup in place. I believe this amp will hold up during a gig without going down as long there is great ventilation for cooling of tubes while in use. Before I purchased it used it was in mint condition now after it has been overhauled it is in great condition for reliability.

Customer Support : 9
Yes, have several technicians for this amp, they are very capable of repairing this amp.

Overall Rating : 10
I have been playing guitar for over 30 years, I other gear that use for practice and sizes of venue. This amp is far more the amp that I use the most. I love the warmth that can generate during its use.

these late 70's early 80's deuce amps to me are the most underrated guitar amp's there are. they sell for close to free in price and sound really good stock but when tweeked just right can out tone many, many high end amps...even the custom hand made over priced jobs.the key lies in th fx loop..though first year deuce didnt come with one most all others did. they take pedals like no other. the true sound of whatever you plug into it is retained. clear headroom up the wazoo on these 120 watt monsters.dodnt rely on trhe gain channel..just use clean and pedals and find you way to tonal heaven.

Sound Quality : 10
here's the secret to these heavy amps...the fx loop! plug in a sonic maximizer or and eq rack or pedal and will open this amp up like no other. makes a huge diff! also if you could get you self on a matched quad of rca blackplate tubes this will sweeten the pot up even more so...though a fresh matched set of any good quality tubes should help. most these amps are still running the original tubes (green label salvania 6l6

Reliability : 10
come on you throw this thing off a plane and it would most likely still turn on and play like a dream

peavey's top notch we all know that.

30 year player/tone searcher...these amps do it for me. i own and have owned tons of high end guitar and amps...these killer bang for the buck amps or the $hit!....im mainly a les paul classic rock genre so these work just fine for me.,,,acually way better than just fine. also keep in mind that the peavey deuce/artist/mace/vt classic amps are all pretty much the same amp in diferent shapes and forms...get one if you dont want to hide behind a wall of fuzzed out colored tone. these are real deal.loads of clean headroom and very shapable tone!!!

basic tube amp stuff....you know the deal.reverb w and phaser work fine

Sound : 8
being a big skynynd fan just had to try one these out. not to mention the tone from gary rossingtons recordings still hold up today, and is still quite a bit better than most in my humble opinion..this here is a quality built and sounding amplifire. for the stupid money these go for(around 2 hundred)you cannot go wrong.i have and had alot of ss and tube amps in the past 25 years and i would say this here is a keeper for shure.i had the 50 watter version and love the tone but it just wasnt cutting it over my abnoxious loud drummerand bass player.i sold the 50 and picked up a 100 watter and it worked out just as planned.this amp cuts like a knife in the mix with loads of bottom and mids.i would recomend a good eq as this amp (or atleast mine lacks a little highs).im a big brown sound fan and this fills the bill.i only use the the clean channel set for as clean as i could get it and then i add pedals (modded keeley and analog man) for the icing on the cake.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
built like a tank....ITS A PEAVEY!

Reliability/Durability : 9
very heavy little sucker.its been working nonstop for 25 years so no backup needed.

Customer Support : 9
peaveys the best at this...but chances are you will never need them.

Overall Rating : 10
the one thing is a bit more of eq section would have been nice but im not complaining.for face value this here is the best bang for the buck out there.i do have have some high end amps but i like this one just as much if not more in some aspects.

This amp was made in 1978. It has 2 channels, Normal and Effects. You can choose (using the 6-pin DIN foot switch) between running these channels separately or combining them for a boost during solos. The foot switch can also switch the reverb. It has 2 twelve inch speakers. I blew the originals so I replaced them with Sheffield's. It runs on 4 6L6 tubes which can be purchased pretty much anywhere. I'm currently running 4 Ruby Tubes in it (I know, I know... they were cheap though). :-)

I gigged with this amp to bars and nightclubs for many years but now use it exclusively at church.

Sound Quality : 10
The sound quality is awesome. I own three amps, the Deuce, a Peavey Bandit 112 Solo Series, and a Roland Jazz Chorus JC-120. The Deuce, BY FAR, is the best amp. It's quieter than the Jazz Chorus and much more robust than the Bandit. The clean sound coming out of the Deuce is crystal clear and brilliant. Overdriving the amp does little as the sound is very muddy and thick. It doesn't produce a very good overdrive/distorted sound this way. If you want overdrive or distortion, use a stomp box.

I love the ability to hit the Combiner button on the foot switch for the extra boost during solos. I also love the reverb on this thing. It uses an old school reverb tank that runs almost the entire length of the amp and is very nice.

I should add that this thing weighs a TON. I bought the Bandit because I wanted a lighter amp to carry back and forth from church but I'm no longer willing to sacrifice tone over convenience.

I can't say enough good things about this amp. It's older so it doesn't have the Phaser function but it does have built in Tremolo which sounds SUPER sweet as it's analog. I purchased a Behringer tremolo pedal (it was cheap) for the Bandit and it doesn't even come close to the tremolo coming out of the Deuce.

Reliability : 10
Reliability... well, it's built like a tank. I've owned it for almost 20 years and it's performed like a champ. It has NEVER failed me during a gig. I'm so confident in it that I don't gig with a backup. During the last 4 years of its life it started to have some issues though. I've read in many forums that an amp this old needs to have the capacitors changed and I think that's what my problem was. I couldn't get a clean tone out of it. Please read my comments under Customer Support to find out how I go this fixed.

Customer Support : 10
All I can say here is awesome. Customer Support is fantastic. While researching what could be causing the clipping (the distorted sound) coming from my amp I sent an email to the general Peavey email address and received an email back in less than a day from one of the head technical engineers at Peavey. He told me that if I wanted to remove the chassis and ship it to him that he would repair it for me. Well, I was SO pumped about this but for several reasons didn't act on it for almost 3 years. This year, I replied to the engineer's email and he said that he did remember me and would be happy to take a look at my amp. I shipped it out to him and it came back better than new.

I can't believe how nice the folks at Peavey were and that's why I bought the Bandit from a pawn shop. I now had a contact at Peavey to help me if it failed me.

I had to pay for shipping both ways and he charged me for parts and an hour of labor. I was TOTALLY happy as the bill was less than $70 for parts and labor.

Overall Rating : 10
I've been playing guitar for about 25 years now. I play through a 1979 Les Paul Custom (Black Beauty) and a Fender Strat. I use all Boss pedals (except for the Behringer Tremolo I mentioned above).

I really love this amp. I"m sure there are better amps out there but I love having the tube sound and I also love having a vintage amp. I'll never part with it.

I wrote a review for this combo once. Now I write a new one...the old review was me raving about the superb this and that. This review has a bit more nuances in it

Features.Just the stock 2 channel setup( with tremelo and reverb) for an 70's amp- and mine is form 1975.No post for each channel,so I outfitted it with a master pot on the back.

Build like a tank-so it's heavy!

Sound Quality : 8
I play an BC Rich Mockingbird clone with humbuckers, and an Yamaha Pacifica with p90's over it.Tremelo on the Deuce is nice, and the reverb has a nice, warm sound. It's 120 Watts and it's LOUD! Overall character is quite warm and snappy.Unfortunately(or not?) you have to crank the amp wayyyy up to get a more ballsy, lush ,warm sound...on lower volumes the amp has the tendency to sound ermm..rather bland.Effects channel is great for funk, reggae and bluesrock,Normal channel is great for blues/in your face rock and roll.

For real heavy stuff however....the overdrive isn't much of an overdrive.I made an extra circuit in it which drives the Normal channel more into overdrive, but it makes more for the more nasty type of rock-and roll/punkrock than metal.

Actually i think it's more of a great rock'n'roll/blues/funky stuff amp .Not that suitable for heavy metal and such-unless you use stompboxes.

Reliability : 10
Ahhh...reliability....I think Peavey has a excellent reputation for reliability, and this amp is a fine example of it! I have it since '88 and it still does the trick. Build like a brick.Had to teplace a couple of dried out capacitors(after its 20th birthday!),but that's actually it!

Customer Support : No Opinion
I dunno. The division here in the Netherlands doesn't exists anymore(AFAIK),and it's a mighty long time ago when I contacted them, but at that time the service was excellent.

Overall Rating : 8
I've been playing for about 25 years now and used this amp from '88 'till now,and eventhough the tought of selling it once for a smaller, more compact amp and the lack of "metal-bility" I still love this amp for it's special character.I'm in the works for reshaping the Normal channel(or an extra channel) for an all out in your face metalsound.

Great rock and roll amp! I think it's 120 watts are often to much for use in bars and smaller venues, but I love to have the opportunity to crank it up .

A 1975 amp that had all the features i needed and more for when i bought it. Bought the amp brand new and a tall 4x12 cabinet to go with it for larger venues. It comes with a phase shifter and built in spring reverb. I am still playin the amps today. i have a spare that stays packed. This was a new hybrid style amp with the first part being solid state and the power part being tube driven by 4 6L6 tubes. It came with a footswitch to change between the clean and dirty channel and to overdrive the channels. Quite a few combinations.

Sound Quality : 10
It has the best sound that I could possibly get. I changed from Orange amps to go the Peavey amps. This amp combined with my guitars (Gibson) ha given me my signature sound which I so love. Very seldon used the clean chanel just the automix funtion and worked the guitar for sounds. Used no effects except the reverb that is onboard.

Reliability : 10
I can not stress reliability on this product. I have been using the same amps for almost 30 years now and they still sound as good as the day I got them. I have seen many other amps do a death rattle before a show geting beat up by vibration from the trucks and local crew people in towns acros the country. This gear has never been babied and has taken the rigors of the road quite well. I must mention that all of my amps travel in road cases which is just as importanat an investment as your guitars and amps. Like I said I have 30 years plus service from them. Tab the tubes make sure there in fire it up and go. I have spare amps but never had to use em !

Customer Support : 10
You cant ask for much better than what Peavey delivers. For a huge company that it has grown to I still have the same persons hands on the amp as was in the beginning. I know the techs by name and they are quite knowledgeable of their product as is the founder of the company. I give em 100% on the customer support !

Overall Rating : 10
I went through AMpeg, Marshall, Orange, and Fender beforwe i setteled on the Peavey. For the money, sound, product, reliabilty, and customer support you cant do any better. I will allways be playing this amp, if stolen I have another set, of it was all gone I would seek out some more. Like I said this amp plays a big part in my signatuire sound for over 30 years. This company is a company for the musician not just about makin a profit. This is good equiptment for the working musician on a working musicians budget. You get high quality for your hard earned dollar. Buy American !
