This amp has pretty decent but basic features including:

- 60 Watts
- Solid state
- Two Channels (clean & overdrive)
- Independent master volume control
- reverb, volume, gain, treble, mid, bass
- 12??? True Tone Speaker
- Footswitch jack and headphone jack
- Effects Loop (return and send) jacks

Sound Quality : 5
This amp does not produce the greatest sounds on its own. But what the hell do you expect from an amp that costs so little?! The clean channel is only clean at very low volumes - at about 3, the clean channel begins to have a little growl. It actually doesn't sound bad, bit that's not what you want out of the clean drive. The overdrive is a bit "tinny" and not very useful. I've used different effects pedals (Boss overdrive, Zoom) with the clean drive and have gotten some decent sounds out of it. The reverb doesn't compare to Fender reberb, but it is ok. The True Tone speaker itself actually sounds ok, as I've taken it out and hooked it up to other amp heads - the semi-poor quality sound of this amp is as a result of the head.

Reliability : 8
Although I don't use it that much, I must say this thing seems like a tank. I've dropped it a couple of times and it came out unscathed. A metal grill adds an element of toughness to this amp. The pots, switches, and knobs seem a bit cheap but they haven't let me down yet.

Customer Support : No Opinion
I haven't dealt with them (nor do I intend to) so I wouldn't know.

I started playing again about 1 1/2 years ago (after an eight year layoff!). I now play rock music (Petty, Springsteen, Skynard, The Hip, Wilcox, etc.). I only bought this amp because it was inexpensive, it had some juice to it, and was there in the store for me to take home (I'm impatient!!). I have since upgraded to a Fender Twin but I keep this AXL around as a backup. I would not replace it if it was lost, stolen, or broken. However, for the price, it is a decent amp for a starting player who doesn't want to break the bank to buy gear.

Distortion:

The features on the amp are great, I like the ideo of the two channels and the reverb. The features given are good, but, you'll know why I dislike them in the next sections.

By far this is the shittiest amp I've ever played on. It has absolutely NO CLEAN SOUNDS WHATSOEVER! The "clean" channel is very distorted and soundsl ike you have a blues driver on it. And the distortion channel simply has no versatility at all. I thought that maybe it was my guitar (cheap Samick strat-tyle) but then I tried it with my friends Fender Mustang and latter my Schecter Classic 2003. And they both sounded just as horrible. No matter what settings i had I could not get a clean sound out of it. I even had the speaker replaced, and still the same results.

Unless you are going to distort the amp pretty much 100% of the time with a peddle, don't ever expect to hear anything good out of this amp.

Reliability : 4
As for reliability, I had the amp for about 8 months and some of the pots (volume, treble, mid, etc... knobs) started to get worn out and would suddenly jump from queit to very loud. The reverb broke after about 5 months as well. The standard speaker started to wear out after about 6 months. Basically all the components in this amp will wear out quickly.

The only thing I would say is very versatile about this amp is the cabinet they put it in. It is very sturdy and stylish. The metal grid in front of the speaker has saved me from poking a hole through it at shows. All in all, the amp is built solid, just the components are cheap.

They were fairly decent when I brought in my amp to ahve it repaired (it was still under warranty). The only problem I had was that they wouldn't pay for a new speaker because it isn't covered by the warranty. But my local dealer complained, saying that he had about 20 of these amps blow a speaker. So after about a month delay, I finally got everything replaced at no cost. So, I would say the service is so-so.

I've been playing guitar for about 6 years. I've gone to many shows and played on lots of different equipment. I play with my Schecter Classic (Seymour Duncan Design pickups) and love to play punk, metal, rock, ska and smooth-jazz like riffs.

As for this amp, I would NOT EVER recommend it. I'm only typing this because I am so frustrated with teh crappy quality of it. To put it frankly, my little Squire 15Watt amp with a speaker that is shot sounds better than this massive paper weight. Do yourself a favour, either save money for a better brand of amp, or sacrafice some wattage for better sounding amp. Unfortunately I don't have the funds required to buy a new amp, because if I did, this one would be going off a cliff.
