Features : 7
8 watt all tube amp combo by Ace Tone (became part of Roland later on), probably seventies but i don't know that for sure because I can't find anything about the amp on the internet.
Features: two instrument input jacks, 4 knobs: volume, tone, tremolo, reverb. The reverb pot fully turned counterclockwise turns off the amp.
It has an 8" 4 ohms ace tone speaker.
Tremolo doesn't work properly anymore: if the speed is set too high, the depth decreases within a few seconds until the tremolo seems to be off eventually. If set slower again, the tremolo re-appears. The tremolo sound itself is nice and warm though. I hope somebody can help me fix the problem with this tremolo.
The spring reverb is not so good, because the (single) reverb spring is way too small. Also, it would have been better if the "tremoloed" sound would go through the reverb instead of the reverb going through the (pretty deep) tremolo.
Very nice about the amp is the tube overdrive/breakup of the sound at low volumes (it's only 8 watts). At about 12 o'clock on the "volume" dial it starts to break up. At full volume, you get a nice and warm crunchy sound.
Still, this amp has quite some features for such an old and small box. So, a 7 for "features"

Sound Quality : 8
A said before, the amp breaks up very nicely and it's not too hissy. Pushed further over the edge with a clean booster between guitar and amp, a pretty wild rocking overdrive appears. It's not a "tight" metal-style overdrive, but that's okay with me, because I don't play that kind of stuff anyway. I like it a lot.
The small size of the amp and speaker cause the sound to be quite "middy" though. Connecting it to another cabinet (4x10" in my case) solves this problem immediately. I had to mod the amp a little to be able to connect it to another cab by the way, because originally it didn't have a "speaker out" connector.
The "tone" knob works a bit like the one on your guitar and does what is has to do. I don't miss any other EQ features.
Don't expect much of the reverb, but the tremolo is good, if the speed problem (above) can be fixed.

Reliability : No Opinion
I can't say it's really reliable (yet), because of the strange thing going on with the tremolo (see: features). Also, something like the third time I tried it out, it made made a short-circuit. One of the tubes had to be replaced but was very hard to get. I had to wait for it a long time. So, I wouldn't dare to take only this one on tour. On the other hand, it's not powerful enough for me to use live anyway.

Customer Support : No Opinion
The Ace Tone company doesn't exist anymore, so i guess there will be no more customer support either. Maybe Roland Company could help, but haven't tried yet.

Overall Rating : No Opinion
I bought this amp for 10 euros without even knowing if it worked and what it sounded like. I thought it looked very cool (red/black vinyl cover and black/brownish speaker cloth).
I was very surprised by the sound and also, the volume was louder than I had expected.
I'm planning on repairing the amp completely, because I think it's worth it.
I hope somebody else has the same amp and could get in touch with me to give me tips about tube and speaker replacement
