This is a beautiful turd brown old solid state head, has everything I need and the perfect tone for rock n, roll, stoner rock, hardcore, and punk which is all I play..
It has a decent amount of power have only had it for a few weeks and haven't gigged with it yet.. it's about as loud as my sovtek mig 60 though and I have used that head from small basement shows to over sized venues.
my favorite feature on this amp is probably the 5 band eq

when it comes to variety, it has a super clean that goes from normal clean to a twangy clean that half temps me to start a country band and get a tele...
the distortion is very fuzzy which is how I like it
I run it out of the original matching Acoustic 468 4x12 cab which i bought along with the head for $100

I haven't had it long, I bought it from a pawn shop.. but the fuse went out.. I'm hoping it was just from being really old.

Wow! This must be the only place on the internet to even find MENTION of the Acoustic Model 250 head... And it's a crying shame! Everything said about is true to form: 2 channels, a Presence & Reverb knob and not only does each channel have its own set of TREBLE, MID, BASS controls, there are also SLIDERS for a built in 5 band EQ -- VERY COOL!

I play super HEAVY fuzzed out riff music. In theory tube heads are ideal for stonerrock, but I was drawn to this vintage look turd-brown head with its console blond-tweed looking front. Talk about a THICK sound! And the volume is intense in a rehearsal situation. I can't believe I paid less than $150 for this thing. FAN-frickin'-TASTIC!

If this head ever dies, I am so screwed. Granted, I've had no problems with it in the 3 years I've owned it... The fuses are all good and I travel quite a bit. It gets a bit warm after playing for a few hours but that's to be expected I suppose.

Unfortunately, I've hada heck of a time trying to find any information on this company. There was no warranty coz I bought it AS-IS at a used section of a musical retail store in Kalamazoo, MI that has since moved. How I managed to secure this gem is beyond me!

All in all, if you're on a tight budget, or love to play heavy music, you can't go wrong with this head. It's my secret weapon to get my signature sound. I imagine you can dial in any kind of sound with this thing.

I have tried to find out when this model was made, but being that the company has gone out of business all I've come up with is that it was made in the early to mid 70's. the 250 head is massive 300watt two channels (clean & dirty), brite button, presence, reverb, and master volume controls, 5 band eq, 3 seperate footswitch inputs for the eq,reverb, and channel. this amp as everything I need to get a great tone even though its a solid state head.

I use a Dean V with EMG humbuckers with this amp and I also use two pedals (boss-metal zone and digital delay)I mostly play metal, but this head does it all, jazz, blues, rock, etc. it's got an incredible low end and great mid range, the high's tend to get a little fuzzy when you run distortion though it. the clean channel is very smooth and doesn't break up when its cranked up. the amps dirty channel really lacks for the heaviness that I like, but its great for straight ahead rock'n'roll.

I just purchased this amp at an auction for $60 I didn't even knew if it worked or not. when I got it home I took it apart and cleaned it out and put it back together plugged it in and I've been using it ever since. now being that this amp was made in the 70's and its now 2004 and it still has all its orginal parts tells me that this is one reliable amp and it has yet to fail me.

I've been playin for 16yrs and I've used a variety of different amps (marshall, peavey, fender, crate, mesa, randall) some tube some solid state. I think we all know that solid state just doesn't compare to tube. so as far as solid state goes this has by far been the best that I've ever owned, blows all others away. I think what really sets this amp apart from the others is not only the different tones that you can get and the massive volume that it throws out, but also the built in eq to adjust it to your own taste.
