This is a 4x12 guitar cabinet with Altec squareback speakers. It is slightly smaller than your average 4x12. It runs at 8 ohms mono. I am guessing it can handle around 200 watts. It looks cool with brown marbled tolex and a wheat colored grill. It has held up well.It has removable casters, but I am not sure if those are original. Mine was made in 1980 and at the time sold for a retail of $479.

I actually play bass but I got the cab for free so why not keep it. I let the guitar players in my band use it. We play what has been described as dissonant hardcore.Heavy and distorted. They play with a Peavey VTM120 and a Peavey 5150 with a Les Paul and an SG. The cab works great. The speakers sound amazing for both cleans and distortion, and they break up nicely. It is not very bright sounding which to me is a good thing. Works very well as a second cab in a full stack since it sounds different from any newer cabinets. My only problem with it is it isn't as loud as more modern cabs with very efficient speakers. It is loud but not as loud as a cab with newer eminences or celestions. I will take one point off because it could be louder.

It is built solidly with some really nice plywood and has a large amount of internal bracing. Each speaker is almost seperated into its own little cabinet on the inside. Not much can go wrong with a cabinet so there isn't anything to worry about. ALl my other Acoustic stuff has held up great as well.

No Opinion
Well acoustic is no longer around but if I remember correctly they offered a lifetime warranty on all their products, butI can't really give an opinion since they are no longer in business.

This is a pretty great cab that I got for free. So you can't really get any better than that. I love all the acoustic gear. It sounds amazing and you can get it really cheap. Like I said I play bass, not guitar but I am going to keep the cab anyway. I have been playing bass for 4 years. In addition to this cab I have a '76 Ampeg SVT, a '78 Acoustic Model 408, and a newer Ampeg 8x10. I play a jazz bass. If this cab got lost or stolen I would just continue my search for more Acoustic gear and hopefully find another for free.
