This is the new Coda Series Three combo amp featuring a molded composite cabinet. As with older models it has a downfiring 10" woofer, a 5" midrange speaker and a 1" dome tweeter (not a piezo). The digital switching class D power amp has been bumped up to 400 watts @ 4 ohms. It goes to 500 watts with a 2 ohm load. Did I mention it generates no heat and the amp weighs 19 pounds, speakers included?

The Coda has two identical channels that can be used with hi or low impedance sources (1/4" or XLR plugs). They have phantom power, independent FX loops w/ send and return levels, assignable reverb/FX for each channel, notch filters that can also be assigned as hi-pass filters, a 600 ohm balanced out w/ground lift and much more. Check it all out at: http://www.acousticimg.com/products/prod_coda.html

The composite cab is sleek-looking, durable and feather light. It now has spring-loaded tilt back legs...a very handy and useful touch.

Sound Quality : 10
The sound is THE thing with this amp. Plug in any acoustic instrument from a stand-up bass to acoustic guitar and the sound is "there". Full, clear, detailed, transparent...the kind of sound that just feels totally right and makes you want to play. Nothing harsh or brittle. No honky midrange.

If you plug in a jazz guitar (say a Gibson 175) your intuition would tell you "ok, acoustic guitar amp...this will sound sterile and thin". Wrong! It comes out fat and solid with all the warm roundness of a good tube amp.

Basically, whatever I plug into it (I used a Selmer-style Gypsy guitar and several jazz boxes plus a bass) sounds totally natural with the EQ flat. I might pull some bass out since the amp has a really full bottom end, but other than that, just the slightest tweak is ever needed. The speaker configuration makes the sound seem to come from everywhere. It's like your instrument just gets louder and fills the room and the amp disappears. I LOVE that.

This seems to be the sign of a great amp...no matter where the controls are set, the thing just sounds good. I play with it in my practice room even when I don't need to for volume. The sound of the amp enhances whatever I plug in.

Reliability : No Opinion
I've only had it for a short time, but it's made like a tank. The controls feel very solid and everything seems over-built and designed with pro use in mind.

Customer Support : 10
They are first rate. I have called on several occasions and they were most helpful every time. These guys really care about their product and customers.

Overall Rating : 10
For anything except distortion-type rock guitar I would have to say this is the best amp in the world. It's a foot tall, weighs less than 20 pounds WITH speakers, offers the cleanest yet warmest sounds, has every feature you could want, can be used for guitar, bass, keyboards, even vocals, is built really solid for pro use...YIKES!

I've played most amps out there including Walter Woods, AER etc. This thing equals or surpasses them all (esp. that clear yet warm sound...I can't emphasize that enough). When you factor in it's ultra small size, light weight and moderate price, this is the best value out there. It's a sleeper for now, but not for long!
