Features : No Opinion
The sign says the amp was made in the USA. It was made back in the end of 60's or the early 70's I suppose. Therefore it's features are lacking some components, todays musicians would desire. There are no effects loops, and no channel switching. There are 3 inputs, an "Input" a "Gain1" and "Gain2" they have seperate vol. poti's but share the same EQ. There is only 1 jack output, and another, that I have never seen before. I am going to buy or make a footswitch with 1 input and 2 outputs. So I can always use a clean channel with adjustable vol. It doesn't have bulit in distortion or anything. It is just amplifying. Spartan as hell and weights 42kg!

Sound Quality : 10
If this amp excells at something it is SOUND! 30-40 years ago people knew how to build amps! This is a Full-Tube 60W-head with 2 EL34 and 4 ECC83 tubes. I'm playing Progressive New-Wave Metal, which means mainly modern metal with jazz and HC elements. This amp has only one little problem. Cleans aren't that cleans to be honest. That can be helped by pickup and effects changing, but it was nice to have a more clean sound coming out. I use a 7-string Washburn WG-587V (V is very important, since this model is ways-ways better, then normal 587. And you can't get it for 200$ :D lol. It has a floyd-rose trem. coil tapping switch H-S-H pup conf. and better pickups. I have Changed the bridge though for a DiMarzio Evolution 7 - Unbeatable!) and a Korg AX1500G multieffects processor. This goes to the head and a 4*12' Marshall cab.
This amp really excells at DISTORTED sound! It beats the shit out of MESA-s and Marshalls. There is a Mesa Triple Rectifier at our practicing place, and I have never heard such a great sound coming out of it. This is how I would like to sound in a studio. NEVER HEARD ANYTHING LIKE THIS. Unbelievable growling. The only problem is losing a bit power when cranked out. The sound is best when volume is set between 2 and 6(on a 10 scale). It's sound is quite unique and sterile. With sterile I mean warm tube sound, but not as high as most marshalls and not that bassy as old laneys. Totally balanced and neutral. With a Multieffects processor you can get any sound out of it, since it doesn't affect the EQ settings in any way. Oh and forgot to mention, that it cost me TENTH of that USED Mesa. Ridiculous...

Reliability : 8
When I bought it, the tubes were arund 15 years old. Or maybe even more. After 3 months an asshole, who hasn't really been using tube amps before broke it someways. It was repaired and a few tubes were exchanged. No prblem with it eversince. I had used it at several live performances without any trouble. I only give it an 8 because I haven't been gigging that much with it, and something might happen. Except from that I'd give it a 9,5

U must be joking... It is almost as old as my father...

I tried to get info on it, and on the brand, but I found nothing. It seems, that there was (maybe there still is) a company called Admiral, that used to make tube radios and tube TV-amps, but I haven't found any clue to the guitar amps... This is a mistery-amp...

Overall Rating : 10
I have been playing for 4 years and have band eversince. I play pretty much at home and we are rehearsing 10-14 hours a week. I have tried a lot of giutars and basses and a lot of amplifiers, but non was close to this one. Not even if I look at the tons of features modern amps have. And especially if think of the money invested in this amp, I would give it a 20 instead of 10. I might build another amp though, with more power, and again Full Tube of course...
