I use this amp as my sole primary for stage performances. It provides more than enough power (I never run the volumes above "3").
This amp was sold in the late 60's and early 70's. (AIMS is long since defunct). The combo is basically a Fender Super Reverb 60W, but with LOADS of power. (Actual wattage unknown but estiamte at around 120). The amp has 2 channels with volume, bass, mid, treble, bright switch, tremelo (with speed and depth) and reverb (with depth), and a master volume knob. On-off, stand-by and polarity-switch. The cab has 6 - 10" speakers with aluminum cones that run at 5 ohms.

Sound Quality : 10
Many people remember the small 2x12 combo which left a lot to be desired. This amp provides an exceptional clean sound, even when run to full volume (make sure there's no one in the store as it gets VERY loud!)In fact, it is virtually impossible to create a distortion effect with it. I use a Digitech effects for everything and just needed a clean amp to reproduce them. I love the way this amp reproduces the effects, especially the delay. Because of the warm tube processing, the normally harsh "snaps" of delay are removed and the chorus becomes lush and full. Distortion is also warmed and I get compliments from almost every other guitar player on how unique my sound is (every players dream to have a "signature sound"!).

Reliability : No Opinion
I've had several techs look at the amp for various minor repairs. We've all tried to research it without much success. A buddy has some old Guitar Player magazines that feature ads from AIMS with the amp pictured, but there was little or no details of it. No one to date has been able to obtain any schematics. But the latest tech immediately identified that it was probably modelled after a Fender Super Reverb. The twin 6550 tubes could not be biased without the addition of a pot, and he also added a stand-off preamp tube to guarantee the reliability. Other than that, all standard caps and components rest on an aluminum chassis that slides into the wooden encloser. The cab has 6 - 10" speakers with aluminum cones.

This amp is irreplacable. I've only know of one other owner (a former guitar player in one of my bands) who had an identical twin to it. What an awsome sound we had together! He's long since sold his...

I would love to hear from anyone who still ownes one of these amps (especially if they are willing to sell).

I've been playing for over 30 years now. I own several guitars including my favorites: a Parker Fly deluxe, Kramer American Showster, Gibson Victory, Ovation Baladier, Washburn Tacoma and an Alvarez Danna III.

I basically run all digital effcts from a Digitect GNX 4, and my band uses JVC speakers (4) 2-15s with horns), Carvin double 18 bass bins, and 12,000 watts of Carvin amps all mixed with Mackie CFX 20 board.

This amp is from the late 60's early 70's.It isn't loaded with features, but it makes up for that with tone.It has reverb,tremlo,2 channels, and it is 120 watts. It is all tube. The tremlo was broken when I brought it,but I don't use it so I don't care.

Sound Quality : 10
This amp sounds amazing. It stay clean all the way to 10,even with pedals.I play "grunge" music,{nirvana, mudhoney, tad} but mostly my own stuff. This amp is great,I can crank it all the way and still be clean untill I turn on a pedal, then it just sings, the tone is great. I run this amp with a washbun bt2,a boss ds-1,boss hm-2,boss flanger. On my guitar I have a stock neck humbukler, and a sd invader, which just crapped out on me.This amp is great with my setup.

Reliability : 9
The tremlo was broken when I brought it,but other than tubes I have had,no problems. It is so heavy though.

I've never even heard of the company.

Overall Rating : 9
I brought this amp seeking a loud clean tube amp,and I got it.I tried every amp in this city pretty much, and the only one I liked better was the solandos, but the cost way to much.I will keep this amp until I throw it off the stage or smash it or something to that effect. If you see one of these, give it a try.Don't be afrid of it because it's not a fender,or a mesa, listen with you ears, not your eyes.
