Features : 4
A late 60's early seventies maybe? A single channel amp with Volume , bass and treble. I wish it had a reverb but it does have 3 inputs for guitar or bass. I use to play bass with it but now it is strickly for guitar.Tubes are 1x(12ax7) and 2x(7868) that's it! It says 80 watts on the front panal but it feels like 40 or50 watts max. I replaced the original speaker with a 15 inch EV and it is loud. I like to play blues and rock and it's great for that. Not a lot of features so 4 for this catagory.

Sound Quality : 7
I play a Yamaha SBG 200 with a Gibson P-94 in the neck and a S. Duncan Custom 5 in the bridge. It does hum esp. with the Gibson single coil PU. But I can play in a club on 4 and it's plenty loud. I play it through my Korg Pandora's box for dist. and rev.and tuning.
I like the way it interacts with my korg cause the tubes make the amp modeling sound very organic. It smooths out that digital processed sound that I don't like that is inherent in dig. processors. When played straight, the dist kicks in at about seven. It is very grindy. Even with the 15 the harmonics are very nice.perfect for the blues and rock that I play.

Reliability : 10
Reliability on this thing is a 10. It has never broken down. I have had this thing for 30 years. The tubes are original RCA's. I changed the 12AX7 with a sovtek but the 7868's have not been changed ever.
I have gigged with this overseas on deployment in my band in the navy. never had a problem. The 7868's burn a blue color and it still sounds great. I hope to replace them soon but they are expensive.

For what it is it is great. A tube amp with guts and presence. The best thing about it is the simplicity, tubes , speaker and combo.I have a Peavy Classic 50 w/a 2x12 cab. But I usually play my Alamo.
I just don't like the big EV 15 speaker "cause it is so heavy. My next project is to pull the amp and make a smaller deluxe size combo cabinet for it and push all the tube pwr thru a Tone Tubby 10" and see what happens. If it were lost or stolen I would buy one if the price was right. You can find them pretty cheap if you look. Another big plus.
