The front panel has a volume, bass, treble, speed, and intensity knobs, all of mine work fine. There is an on/off switch and on lamp indicator, and a 1/4" foot switch input which I haven't played with. It has three 1/4" instrument inputs which all seem to be at the same level. A gain control would be nice but there is always pedals! The output transformer has a 16 and an 8 ohm tap. It came with an old alnico 12" 16 ohm speaker that I was told was made by cts? It has 5 tubes, 1x5y3gt rectifier tube, 2x6v6gt power tubes, 2x12ax7a preamp tubes. I bought this off EBAY, and it arrived quite smashed. I was able to get the amp up and running just fine, but the cabinet is a total waste. So currently I play it plugged into a 2x12 eclosed cab of Vintage 30's, and at 12 watts this amp is plenty loud enough for practice.

Sound Quality : No Opinion
I play an american strat currently with 2 humbuckers and a middle single coil, usually play classic rock maybe some bluesy stuff. While the amp mounting tray is pretty stout, it is not shielded like many amps are so you get some hum near lights, computers or TVs. For 12 watts this amp is loud, (of course the Vintage 30's are super efficient speakers!) and with my neighbors I had a hard time getting it to break up, so I took it to my work's warehouse and it breaks up beautifully at 8-9 and above when you dig in! I had to turn the bass way down though as the cab gets a little boomy! This amp is about serious tone! I have no idea what the original amp in its cabinet sounded like, though I can't believe it would have sounded bad, but probably not near as loud. As I can't evaluate the amp in it's original cabinet I won't give it a rating in this category, but its definitely a TEN when you pump it through a couple of Vintage 30's!

Reliability : No Opinion
As I stated earlier I bought this off EBAY, and it arrived quite smashed. I was able to get the amp up and running just fine, but the cabinet is a total waste. As I can't evaluate the amp in it's original cabinet I won't give it a rating in this category either, but it is some kind of testimony that it still works after its crash. The cabinet did seem somewhat flimsy. Having said all that, given the condition my Titan arrived in, I would say you probably don't want to haul it around a lot!

I don't think so!

As I can't evaluate the amp in it's original cabinet I won't give it a rating in this category either, I just wanted to share what information I have about this amp. I originally contracted to buy this amp for $150.00 off EBAY, but after it arrived damaged, I'm awaiting UPS insurance and the seller to do their thing, but I have contacted the seller to buy the 'remains' for about $40-$50. I have an old Sears 5XL which sounds great but needs just a little more power and the Titan fits the bill nicely as a practice amp. I have several other amps both tube and SS, but these little old tube amps are my favorites to practice through. And they usually work pretty well when I pump my acoustics through them too, unlike my bigger amps. This is one of those old amps you hear about, you need to watch out that you don't get yourself fried! Always check the power before you play.

1964 Alamo Titan.4 channels. Tremelo.6V6 tubes and a 5Y3 rectifier tube.Has an original 12 in. CTS speaker. This amp puts out 12 watts.

Sound Quality : 9
I play harmonica thru this amp.Mostly uptempo blues and some R&B.The amp is dead quiet and has a tone made for harp heaven. I've been a semi-pro player for about 12 years.

Reliability : 7
I have a 68 Super, and it stays in the closet most of the time. The Alamo has proven itself to be very reliable.

I've played thru original Bassmans,Gibsons etc. But this little 15 lb.terror has the tone to match any amp, for harp. I've already bought a spare in case of loss.

This guy was made in the 1960's. It's got two 12AX7's in the preamp and two 6V6's and a 5Y3 rectifier in the power stage giving an output of 12 watts RMS. It's got 4 input jacks, footswitchable tremolo, volume and tone controls. Also a built-in 12" speaker which I believe is a replacement speaker (made by Utah). No gain control which kind of sucks, no reverb.

Sound Quality : 7
I played a strat copy w/ humbucker on this amp. The tone is very muddy with no high-end whatsoever. This might just be a problem with an old speaker though, because I can hook it up to my stereo speakers (with some wire splicing) and get a bit more sparkle out of it. The tubes seem to be 30+ years old too which may have something to do with it. If you crank this little guy past 4, you can get some nice-souding tube growl out of it, and if you crank it up to 10, you can get some nice big distortion a la Green Day's Dookie et al. Sounds best if you crank the tone control up to 10 also. I used a Boss SD-2 over pedal on it so I could get distortion at low volumes which worked out pretty well. Pumped out loud enough sounds to knock some pictures off the wall though.

Reliability : 3
I've jammed with this thing a few times and I always found myself constantly turning up the volume as I played. It's probably just the old tubes, but as this thing heats up, the volume starts dropping out. I definately would not use this on a gig unless I could get that fixed, but tubes are just so damn expensive. That's really my only complaint, but it's kind of a biggie.

Heheh... I'll just pretend you didn't ask.

I bought this guy as my first amp and it suited my needs at the time: it made my electric louder. The tubes were pretty cool too. I actually wanted to try and figure out a way to sort of extract the preamp out of this thing and use it as an effect on my Fender Princeton 112+ (which I bought to replace it), but I don't know enough about tube amp electronics to do that. If you manage to find one of these guys in a pawn shop for under $100, give it a whirl and see if you like it. If I lost it, I wouldn't worry too much. Probably wouldn't even file a police report if it got stolen. If you're into project amps, this would be a great tube project.
