Bought the Alden AG30 amp through a dealer on ebay in summer 2003. I liked the value for the features you got with it. I have not owned an amp until I bought this one.

The sound is very good for what I use it for, just basically jamming at home when no one is around.

This is where I have problemswith the amp. Since I bought it it has not worked for more than 10 minutes. I contacted the dealer and they refunded a portion of my payment and said that if I get it fixed just send them the difference. I paid about $115.00 U.S (I'm in Canada) and I have had it to two shops for repair and no one has been able to identify the problem. What is the problem? After being on for about 10 minutes the fuse blows. I have had it turned on without the guitar hooked up and the fuse still blew. Basically, I have a useless amp and am running out options for repair.

I would really appreciate anyone who can identify the problem or who has had a similar problem with this amp to please contact me with details. I would love to get this tool up and running the way it should. I haven't heard boo from the dealer after notifying them of the problem nor do I know who to turn to for support.

Overall rating, I'm sure would be good if the darn thing worked and didn't keep blowing the fuse.

I bought this amp new because even though it is inexpensive it is packed with features. There are Hi and Lo inputs for the Guitar plua a separate channel for a mic (which has its own volume control). The Guitar channel has switchable over drive and reverb as well as level, mid, treble and bass controls. the back panel has a headphone out , effects loop (send return and remote footswitch out. It is 30W and has an 8" no name speaker. You have to admit thats a lot for the price!!

I have been playing for 31 years - yeah I am an old fart and I play more accoustic than electric so here are the styles I tend to play with the amp. I use a '94 tele (standard) with no mods. I have avariety of effects that I use as well. I play mostly blues, light rock and jazz type instrumental stuff, There are a variety of sounds that the amp can produce. The reverb is pretty good and the overdrive is OK as long as its not driven too hard. At low levels you can get some good biting blues sounds. If the overdrive is turned up its pretty harsh and crunchy this does not suit me but you may like that?? Ther is a circuit hum when you turn it on but that gets drowned pretty quickly once you start playing, however I dont play the guitar in clean mode very often for this reason - after all its not a Fender amp is it? The speaker is a little weekso I would not crank it all the way up either, but with the level at 5 or 6 its plenty loud enough for practice.

I use it only for practice and its does the job, I have had no problems. No I would not gig with it - its a practice amp and that what I use it for. I have Behringer modelling amp that I use for performances. Still Nothing has gone wrong with the ALDEN

Its a great value priacice amp and the mic feature is good for that as you don't have to have 2 amps running to practice I also run a drum machine through the mic channel as well for the same reason. There are a lot of more expensive practice amps in the market but if you have a good performance a mp then why spend more money than you need to just for practice - unless of course its just for snob value!! I think this amp has a lot of features for the money and thats why I give it an 8.
