This amp has plenty of features. Unfortunatly all of those features are crap, the distortion sucks and the clean sound isn't suitable for anything, it all just sounds crap. The amp has plenty of FX built in like making your guitar sound like a bell or really heavy flanger. The amp isn't all that versatile as a play hard rock, metal and bluesy rock and everything i play through this amp is ridiculously bassy, i thought it was just my les paul but i tried a strat and a BC Rich warlock and it still sounds exactly the same, even with the treble as high as it can go...maybe i just got a bad one? This has enough power for small venues however i strongly suggest using something else. I'll give this amp a 6 for the amount of features, the score is lowered by the quality of each of these features

Sound Quality : 3
I mainly use my les paul custom with stock humbuckers, but like i said before, this amp is way to bassy to get any decent sounds out of it. It doesn't suit my musical style whatsoever i really hate this amp... If you want a good digital amps withh all these effects, do what i did and go for a line 6 spider III, they're well worth the extra cash. This amp is noisy alright but in the wrong ways, when you have the gain all the way up you get this horrible 'White Noise' sound even when the guitar isn't plugged in and when you play with that much gain you get a crunch sort of sound where as with gain that high is should be breaching metal territory. There is alot of variety in sound to be fair, but some of the FX i just don't get TBH, why would anyone want their guitar to sound like a bell?
The distortion is not brutal what-so-ever, the distortion on this amp is more like when you turn the clean channel up to much and it slightly distirts through volume.

Reliability : No Opinion
I would never gig with this amp, even if i had a back-up. This amps never broken down because i've never taken it out the house, or used it more than 6 times.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Never dealt with them

Overall Rating : 2
I've been playing 2 years now, i own a BC Rich warlock, a Les Paul Custom and a crappy strat copy. I also have a Marshall MG Series amp which kicks the crap outta this amp, and a Spider III 120. This amp was given to me by a friend, i wouldn't have bought it in a shop and am currently trying to sell it. The marshall MG even beats this amp and they're really crap. If it were stolen i'd thank god for someone taking it off my hands. I love nothing about this amp and i hate pretty much everything. I couldn't really have compared this to other products or chose this amp because it was given to me. I wish it had 2 sections, the first would be a 4x12 cab with marshall written on the front, the second is a head with 5150 written on it.

Bought this about 6 month ago (2005) as a cheap and versatile amp for testing gear and messing about with at home. Got the expression pedal and patch up and down switch with it. Huge range of features to play around with..but a bit limited on "real" knobs - only gain, treble, bass and loud. So many things to play with and easy to change...but I tend to use about 3 or 4 presets I've done myself from scratch.

Sound Quality : 7
I use this with anything that comes in - Strats (real/Mex/Jap and Squires), LP's, Teles, SG's, Eggle, Parker...single coils and Hums.
Mostly I get stuck in a Blues rut...at low to medium volume.
First thing that struck me was that the speaker in this thing is Junk.
It's brittle and unresponsive. No arguments...try plugging it into something decent and the whole thing comes alive - at all sorts of volumes. I now use it with my vintage Marshall 4 x 12 with G12M Greenbacks in....nice!
In a moment of desperation as his amp was sick my son gigged the amp (into the Marshall 4x12). Apart from a few missed patch changes (which it seems to do occasionally) It copes OK ( and he plays in a Punk band). Bottom line... the amp has enough oomph at 60W for a small venue and effects are great..the speaker is rubbish...lets give it 7

Reliability : 7
Some of the bits like the input jack and knobs (especially the crucial change all the parameter knob) are a bit flimsey looking and wobble about a bit. It does have a bit of a problem with patch changing sometimes - especially latching in the bypass.
It ain't broke yet but I wouldn't want to have to rely on it to make a living!

Customer Support : No Opinion
Not had to deal with them..and frankly wouldn't even bother trying.

Overall Rating : 8
I've been playing over 40 years and have a variety of modern and ancient stuff...Wem Dominator to this and 2005 Parker to a Tele I built myself in the late 60's. I spend a lot of time fixing up guitars and amps as a hobby and keeping my two sons bands gigging.
I bought as I had been looking for something like this with built in effects and such for convenience. I was looking at the Zoom and came across this.. at a nice price..and bought it unseen/untried by mail order. No great expectations then..but it has been surprisingly good!
If it were lost or stolen I'd probably end up buying another or similar item (I don't like lugging effects boxes about)
It's not a Marshall DSL with a built in Boss GT8...but then again it's a fraction of the price!....Biggest letdown is the speaker..if you have one of these try a different speaker before you throw it out!I'll probably get around to swopping the speaker in the combo box sometime...I've got a nice old McKenzie 60W somewhere...

this amp is perfect for people who want bucket loads of effects, useful, or not...it has everything an intermediate guitarist could ask for. it has enough power for most small gigs (it is 6o watts), but it isnt exactly light...but o well...doesnt matter!

Sound Quality : 3
to be fair, i wasnt expecting the best tones for a cheap amp like this...and i want wrong! tone wise - it is colourless, and bland. but when jamming along to cd's it is cool. unfortunatly, when you turn up the volume for band practises, you will find that your preferd setting for any program, would COMPLETELY change. when turned up to over 3 o'clock, i was very dissapointed to hear the sound literally wash away! but the built in effects are very accurate, and adjustable - perfect (for low volumes)

Reliability : 2
i can not depend on this amp what so ever, in a gig situation! i would happily use this for writing songs on, playing along to cd's, or even trying to learn a song. but when it comes to playing a gig, i would simply leave this at home, because the sound of it is just terrible! as i have mentioned, it does well under low volumes, but when 'cranked' up, it is obvious why it is soo cheap! i would only use this in a gig if i were playing in an old peoples home, to tone death folks.

Customer Support : 1
i have sent it off to get fixed, but it came back exactly the same. so i had to get my guy to fix it. i havent dealt with then since, and i doubt i will have to, seeing as i got a way better amp - i little 10 watt practise amp!

Overall Rating : 1
i would not recommend this amp to anyone who is after good tones, GREAT sounds, or even to anyone looking for a cheap amp. i am looking to get a head now, since this piece of crap has made me loose all faith in amps...i have been playin for about 7 years, and i am not obsessed with gear - but this amp has made me think twice about buying new gear. if it was to be stolen, i wouldn't hesitate to let my true emotions out - i would cry with joy, and walk around with the biggest grin imaginable. i would go out, collect my inssurance, and get a peavey triple xxx head and cabs!

60 Watt digital amp with 80 presets and every effect imaginable. Crazy stuff like backwards reverb and modulation, and can drop octaves rather interestingly. There are a million things to do with this amp.

Sound Quality : 8
I found that this amp is actually cheaper than a normal amp at the same power. In my opinion, many of the distortions sound weak and muddy, and many of the effects sound cheap. Some of them sound good (fuzz and chrous come to mind), and some of them are great (reverb and backwards reverb). Oddly enough, I switched to using pedals, and like to play the amp clean. You can bypass the DSP and use pedals that way, but I just made a clean preset with appropriate boost and treble/bass settings (you can't change the treble/bass in bypass). It is very loud, but does tend to crackle ever so slightly on high volumes... or maybe that is just my eardrums breaking.

The amp is really warm sounding, and holds up perfectly until the volume is at 80% or so. For the price, it is really a great amp.

Reliability : 3
I broke both input jacks (input and headphones). I fixed them myself, and it was a pain in the ass. This is a cheap amp, and so is the construction. It does weigh a tonne and you can sit on it, but I found the inputs to be just too fragile.

Also, to get out of bypass mode, all you really have to do is move any knob. For some reason, my knobs like to move themselves. Since this amp uses presets, my preset might have treble at 90, but the dial has treble at 45. Something in the amp can make it switch out of bypass or to that other value by itself.

Customer Support : 10
I asked them a few questions, and they answered quite quickly.

Overall Rating : 8
Very good for the price. The best part of this is it's speaker (and volume). Somewhere in the middle is the DSP loop, and the worst is it's construction. I use it as if it had no DSP, and for that, it is great.

versatile if you are after nice cleans and crap distortion, not really easy to use

Sound Quality : 2
the cleans are nice, except when you first turn the amp on it is really really distorted in a bad way I mean awful sounding, till it warms up or something, this can take between 5 seconds to 1 minute or more. Most of the distortions sound like utter crap, only the stack distortion sounds even passable, the metal sounds like awful fuzz, most of the others sound exactly the same, overdrive, tube clean, etc. all sound alike, and they all sound crappy like a cheap effect. The only way I can use this amp is as a poweramp for my DG stomp, then I have to use a clean patch, and turn on the amp and wait for the disgusting farty nasty distortion to clear up, I can hardly wait for the input jack to crap out as others have mentioned. Compared to the sound samples on musiciansfriend this doesnt even sound like the same amp. I feel lied to so I give it a 2 because you can get a half decent sound out of it using a preamp to get the actual sound, oh yes the speaker sim is useless.

Reliability : 1
I dont think this amp will last a farting spell. It has been back to alesis once to fix all the issues I detailed above, and I got it back with a note that said they tightened the jacks or some bullcrap, it still acts and sounds exactly the way it did when I sent it in for service, total crap.

Customer Support : 1
warranty is useless as they dont fix anything, I dont even believe they did anything when I sent it in for repair as they suggested I do. This product is almost worse than not haiving an amp...merry Christmas! Shame on you Alesis, Shame on you! This is a first class piece of crap. I want my money back.

Overall Rating : 1
if it were stolen I would laugh at the idiot who would be so stupid to take it. good riddance.

All the features have not been discussed yet on this page. It has one input channel, one headphone out, one powered 8ohm speaker out, one stereo link to connect another amp as the right channel, rca stereo input, two inputs for switches (up and down) one input for expression pedal. It could have two input channels, but that might interfere with the effects module. Tuner is very sensitive, but it's right.

Sound Quality : 10
The sound with the built in effects is great. It has 80 presets, alot of which are near copies, but all of which can be edited. It has all the standard sounds like chorus, flange, phaser, amp models (distortion or acoustic). In addition, it has stereo effects, "digital" effects that really change the sound ( you gotta hear to understand), and the ability to choose from 7 different routes for optimal sound. And the cab simulator is excellent; really sounds like 2x12 or 4x10. I use a cheap electric guitar with single and humbucker pickups, which you need because this doesn't have a pickup simulator like say a Digitech pedal. But it has more than enough stuff. It is way loud, and doesn't distort at all at max volume. Interestingly, when you turn it on and off, it behaves like a tube amp, though it's solid state. When you turn it on, it has to warm up and when you shut it off it pops real loud, at least mine does. My dad, who works with tube amplifiers in radio says it acts and sounds like a tube! Distortion is awesome. It has several different models which are all great. No matter what you like, this thing has it.

Reliability : 10
I've only had it a few months, but I carry it to church every week and I stuff the open back with my junk and music. I haven't damaged it at all. It is very heavy and solid.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Haven't had to deal with them

Overall Rating : 10
I have been playing a year, 6 months regularly in church, on drums, bass and guitar. This amp sounds as loud as my friend's crate 60w amp that costs $370. and his only had overdrive, dist. and flange. My sound guy at church, who has had alot of experience with music and bands, says it is a great deal. I am so glad I got it.

The amp has versatility oozing out of every orifice. I generally play metal with some modern rock and occassionally progressive stuff. The features on this amp is pretty amazing for the price. I've only used this amp around the house, but I've pumped it at full volume and it holds its integrity. Did wish it had less presets though. Comes with 80. Also comes with an onboard tuner. Nothing fancy, but it works.

Sound Quality : 8
My guitar is currently a modded Ibanez (with a Duncan Demon and a Designed 103B). The distortion on this thing is pretty good. Above average, but I prefer to use my Zoom Tri-Metal. Noise gate is built into the amp but you have to set it yourself. I suppose if you want high gain, use an external pedal, even though there's a wide range of distortions on this thing. It has some other basic effects, like chorus and overdrive, but also some treats, like autowah and echo. Too many effects for one person I think, but I think Alesis covered all their bases with this.

I really like the clean on this. It's very clear and with the cab simulation setting (simulate # of speakers), it handles the guitar signal pretty well.

I tested my friend's Digitech Hot Rod on it, and it doesn't handle as well. Better stick to analog distortion.

Reliability : No Opinion
I've had this thing for a couple of months now. Always does what it's supposed to do. But let's see if it'll last me through my golden years...

Customer Support : No Opinion
Came with a one year warranty. Nothing wrong so far. Hopefully nothing wrong in the years to come.

Overall Rating : 9
For the money, nothing beats it. It's 60 watts of power and versatility. What more could you ask for? Oh, and you'll probably want to get an Alesis pedal board. Don't have one yet, but I plan on getting one. Either that, or you can plug in two footswitches (one for UP and one for DOWN values), a very nice touch.

I will second the notion that this amp Rocks! I was looking for a sizeable amp for practice, and I was about to give up on my search due to price tags of a decent size practice amp, when I happened to stumble onto this beauty. This thing has tons of effect features which are sure to keep any guitarist busy. I usually play around through a digitech floor processor, but with an added foot switch and expression pedal for this amp, I could all but throw away my processor. You can get some sick sounds through this thing. I haven't had a chance to tweak many of the effects programs but I was blown away by the control and versatillity I had at my finger tips when I did. I also love the fact that when you program your effects, you can also change the signal routing order of you effects modules. If you want to put your compressor/limiter at the end of the effects chain, you can. Along with a stout lineup of tweakable effects, this thing packs a decent punch as well. It can get very loud, and will shake some walls if needed.

Sound Quality : 9
I like to play anything from hard rock to classic rock to blues to jazz. This thing can get you to the sound you want. I love the clean channels. They are extremely clear and voluptuous. The distortion is pretty thick as well, although, I tend to still run through my processor for the really really sick stuff. I have run into a few of the effects programs where there was a hum or a lot of noise, but this thing has a pretty solid noise reduction and Hum Elimination feature that can clean up your sound really nice.

Reliability : No Opinion
I've only had it for a few days, but I would be very shocked if this thing failed on me in any way. I think I will definitely have this thing for years to come

Customer Support : No Opinion
I haven't dealt with customer support yet.

Overall Rating : 9
I've been playing now for about 13 years, and for the practice amps that I have ever known, none have done what this one can do. There nothing but love for this product, and I can't help but be jazzed about how reasonable priced it is. Anyone who purchases this amp will not be disappointed, except for the fact that your pedals will be laying around collecting dust. Go buy it!

This thing rocks. Extremely flexible settings and a clear sound. No footpedal comes with it but any mono switch can be plugged into an up or down input to cycle to the next setting. Headphone use is supported. Would it hold up in practice wit a band? That depends on your personal taste for settings. It can get very loud. There is a line out (labeled as a stereo out?) that can go to another amp. You can also add your own 8 ohm enclosure as well. It get a nine because nobody deserves a 10.

Sound Quality : 9
I've got about 80 different guitars and this thing can support 'em all. From hard rock to soft jazz...as the Ragu ad said " It's in there".

Reliability : No Opinion
It's so new that if it broke I'd be shocked. I have the GuitarFX pedal that this thing is based on and that's been dependable for a over a year now.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Can't really say. They have been great with Email and I'm sure if a problem presents itself the company will stand by it's products.

Overall Rating : 9
Been playing guitar over 20 years. I'd buy it again because it's so damn fun to find new sounds on. The cost vs performance is unbeatable and if your new to playing you could do a sight worse than start with one of these amps. If you've been playing a while give this one a try at your local music shop and see for yourself.
