With 30 watts and a ten inch speaker, this amp is a more than decent practice amp. It has 40 built-in digital effects. You can hook up a foot switch which would help with scrolling thru the effects.

Sound Quality : 8
Some of the effects (distortion and wah in particular) suit me just fine. There are some crazy effects that I can't imiagine anyone will ever use. Again, for a practice amp, I think this is pretty good.

Reliability : 10
I've had it for about a year, and it's been solid. No gigging, cuz it's not loud enough.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Never used it.

Overall Rating : 8
For a practice amp, I'd say it's great. Need to add a footswitch for quicker changes, as it's a pain pressing the buttons on the amp to move thru the effects.

I was looking at a smaller amp with built in effects, and value wise, it was a great alternative to the more expensive Roland, Marshall and Line 6 amps with 30 watts.

If money were no object, I'd buy something bigger and better. Since for most of us $$ is a consideration, I'd buy one again.

The amp used to be called "Spitfire 30". Those are just as bad. I play anything from blues to classic rock and metal.

lot's of fx, over 80 effects including distortion and wah wah. all bad. see below.

It's a digital fx amp. You need a pedal to use the amp properly, but if you stick with the amp for a while you'll realise neither the amp or pedal is worth buying.

This amp is bad. I'll write down a few reasons why:

It has lots of features but most of them are incredibly badly done.
Nothing sounds like it should. The EQ controls are basic at best, with no real way of shaping your sound properly.

The tube clean distortion doesn't actually sound like a clean tube. It's awful, frankly. It just sounds like a muddy mess.

The acoustic distortion feature does not make an electric guitar sound like a acoustic.

At all.

I'm not even sure it would make a piezo acoustic sound like one, frankly.

The reverb is utterly pointless. yeah, it makes you sound like you're in a room, but it offers no sustain or anything of worth like a decent reverb does.

The autowah is incredibly annoying.

I suppose there is light at the end of the tunnel for those who like Marshall sounding distortion. I'd say it can emulate that. But don't expect to even get a good lead tone out of it. Just muddy rhythm.

The speaker that comes with the amp colours it a lot. It's awful. I know this because the "blues tone" sounds like one out of my PC speakers, but not out of my amp. It just sounds like a muddy mess out of the amp speaker. As with every sound. Maybe it's better through a 4x12 stack (which I'm going to buy along with a new head) i'll update and say when/if i have.

Reliability : 4
Oh God it's unreliable, if you play loud, and it gets a tad TOO loud then it'll shut off and need about 3 reboots at the mains to work again. Awful.

The company i got my amp from (gak.co.uk) first managed to send me the wrong amp then took ages replacing it. The company i previously got it from kept sending me damaged ones. Frankly I should've got the hint and given up. I really hate this crap.

Overall Rating : 1
Frankly I'm trying to not get really annoyed about this, but I feel conned.

This amp actually (along with the guitar, to be honest) has put me off playing.

It's a Epiphone SG special.

I hate them both, a lot. They both aren't my thing. I'm saving up for a custom electric guitar which i'm going to get made somewhere (i think they cost about ?1500), and a B52 stealth series head and stack and GFX2 pedal set, and I'm going to try that. Until then i just have to keep forcing myself to play. I really hate this amp more than life itself though. it's utterly turgid. I will never ever buy something from Alesis again. What a shit company.
