This is an update of my 7-31-00 review. 2000 Plott Head with std. chassis and tubes. My only option was an out rageously flamed maple cabinet. amp is single channel and works great with what I play. I use this amp at home with a Boogie 1-12 cube with aCelestion Vintage 30.

I intentionally waited 6 months to write this review, cause I love this amp so much. I play a custom shop J.W. Black flame maple top strat with EMG SA pickups, maple neck and fretboard. I play blues-rock, blues, classic rock. The amp is dead quiet, even at wide-open volume, except for class A hiss, which I kinda have grown to like...it lets me know I'm playing a great amp! There is no bad tone in this amp, period. At low volume (0-5) it really sounds like a sparkly clean chimey bell tone fendery thang (sorry for that), and has a presence brightness very similar to a well miked acoustic, and is a truly inspired, beautiful, balanced clean tone. At higher volume settings (5-10), it has creamy, smooth, gain, and lots of it, it really rips if you dig in, and has great bite and clarity when you back off. It can sound marshally, and voxy, but this amp really has its own voice, with HUGE low end, and incredible clarity. The tone of this amp continues to amaze me, and my band...it does U2, Jimi, Stevie, REM beautifully. I use this amp with a number of other amps, mostly tweed Fender style, and it seems to sound however I want it to, now that I've gotten used to it. When I first got it, I thought I needed to run it on "10" because of the low wattage. My drummer kept telling me to turn down in rehearsal (never happened before!), and as I've found numerous sweet spots at different volumes, set on 6-7, its louder than every other amp I use (25-50 watts), really. This amp is LOUD. I use it with a 2x12 Mesa Recto open back with greenbacks.

Its flawless. Highest grade components available. George is a fanatic about quality, and it shows in his amps. I opened the chassis, and it is perfect.

George Alessandro is one of the coolest, most knowledgable amp makers, and I've talked to most of them. I bought this amp sight unseen (and unheard) because I called George to find out more about his amps, and we ended up talking for more than an hour! He will take the time to find out what you want, and then deliver the goods! He has been more than helpful and AFTER I bought the amp.

I've spent the last year playing all the boutiques, and re-visiting the classics. Dr.Z, Matchless, Tone King, Top Hat, King, Naylor, Budda, blah blah blah. I gigged professionally with Soldano and Marshall for 7 years. This is the finest amp I have played, end of story. I've read review after review on HC about all the boutiques, and been so disappointed, until this amp. I dont give the "10"'s without considerable thought, this amp really deserves the ratings. I'm buying a Beagle (10 watts!) as soon as I can save the money. Georges amps are not boutique, they are high-end, and they are the next Trainwrecks. You will not be let down with his amps.
