Allen head, made by Dave, not a kit. Has the 6L6`s in it, (which is a must, cause it has a very useable master volume) But, if you don`t have the manual, when you put in the 6L6`s, it changes it to a 4ohm output, which does make a difference with this amp. I didn`t know that for awhile, and was using it with an 8 ohm speaker cab, and was only slightly thrilled.....then, I actually read the manual, and rewired a 4-10 fender super reverb reissue cab (without the chassis) for 4 ohms, and wow........now it`s my favorite amp. (and I have a few....)
Simple, the way I like it. I play blues, blues rock. Sounds great, and gets a lot of compliments. I haven`t found a club it won`t handle, but outside, maybe not quite enough headroom for clean rythym bluesey stuff.

Sound Quality : 10
It`s a one channel, blues rock amp with reverb. It sounds wonderful with all of my guitars, 20 some, single coils, humbuckers, p90`s.
Very quiet amp....

I bought it used. Played it for a month, the output tranny went out. I contacted Dave, on the phone he told me it`d be 100 bucks to replace. I sent it back. He emailed me, said it wasn`t that old, he has since upgraded the output tranny`s, and fixed it for free! Even put in a weber copper SS rectifier, which he said would give it a bit more headroom, and be easier on the tranny.....then, he SHIPPED IT BACK TO ME FOR FREE!! Since then, it`s been rock solid, lot`s of gigs, lots of banging around in the back of a rig, even dropped it once from 4 feet up, hit the pavement.....ouch, but not a problem. The 9 is only because it went out at all, but.....hey, amps break down.

Customer Support : 10
Like I said above, Dave is a great guy. I`ve had him modify an old fender bassman for me, and he was really nice, did a lot of extra stuff for me on his own, for free, called me on his dime to ask me questions.....no worries about his customer support. Answers emails...

Been playing 30 years. I own 58 bassman, (real, not reissue) 61 concert, 67 bassman in a 1-12 combo cab, traynor bassmate, traynor bassman, gehring crosscut, (tweed bandmaster clone), 48 champion 600, 61 princeton, and have owned 10 times that amount in the past.
I would get another Allen of some kind if it was stolen.
Don`t hate anything about it. Tremelo would be cool, but how often do you use it?

This is the latest model, chassis only, kit. And I give it an '8' because to me, '10' represents that unattainable ideal. It's got reverb and volume, master volume, treble, bass, and 'raw' ("..combination mid boost and gain boost."). I'd give it a '9' if it had tremolo, but it's got plenty. This was the kit, chassis only - it's in my Blues Junior cab with the stock Fender/Emminence speaker. I ordered it with the 6V6 power output tubes which give it 20 watts output. With 6L6s it'll crank out 30 watts.

Sound Quality : 9
I'm using a telecaster with Seymour Duncan Vintage noiseless pickups. It's plenty versatile for blues, R&B, rock, and country. Probably not the kind of crunch you'd want if you're into the latest grunge/distorto sounds, but I don't care about that. It can go from absolutely clean to pretty darn dirty with the proper settings. It will distort nicely at full volume with 'Raw' turned off. And it gets plenty loud!

Reliability : No Opinion
I put this together, so until it performs flawlessly for a couple of months or so I won't be completely confident of my own assembly, but it's a point-to-point hand-wired unit, so the repairs should be pretty simple. I'll gig without a backup for a while (unless you count my BJ chassis - I'll take it along), but I plan on getting another Accomplice with 6L6s eventually.

David Allen is great. He even answers the phone after normal business hours and on weekends. Couldn't be more helpful.

I've been playing off and on for about 40 years. I've got two telecasters right now, but have had 330s, 335s, teles (including a real '52 and a real '57) and strats (including a real '57). My amps have all been Fenders (twin, black-face Tremolux with cream knobs, Deluxes, Deluxe Reverb Reissue, Princeton Reverbs, Champs, blond Bassman) except for one Marshall, a JTM30 which I sold. I usually don't use effects, but sometimes use an Electro-Harmonix SmallStone. I definitely would get another if this were lost or stolen. The sound is superb, from clean, sparkling 'surf' tele to "Sunshine of Your Love" type distortion. Tremolo is the only thing I wish it had, but if I find myself needing tremolo much I'll just get a pedal. At David Allen's recommendation I've got a Weber VST C12CA (the 'California' ceramic mag 12" speaker) on the way, so I expect the sound to be pretty clean and clear - no speaker distortion, just the sound of the amp faithfully reproduced, and clean, clear bass. I'll post another review after I've played it for a few months, but so far I'm in heaven.
