The Brown Sugar was made for me this year.
I would say this amp is best suited for clean to moderate overdrive.
It has one channel, bass, middle, treble, presence, and RAW controls plus BRIGHT switch. Reverb with tone control, two speaker outs with impedence switch.
You can use 6L6, EL34, or 6V6 power tubes and it has tube rectification GZ34/5AR4 for 6L6 & EL34 and 5Y3 for the 6V6's.

Sound Quality : 9
This amp is ideal for clean jazz and country. Wick up the RAW control and it's a dynamite blues and classic rock amp.
With 6L6GC or EL34 tubes, this thing has a lot of clean headroom. I see a good many amps out there promise, but this one delivers.

Reliability : 9
I have not put enough miles on the heels of this amp yet. However, my impressions are all positive.

Customer Support : 10
This is my second Allen amp. I had an early model Accomplice. I owned it for a few years, it never gave me any trouble and was just the amp I needed at the time. David Allen is a real gentleman, he will take time with you and answer questions. He wants you to be totally satisfied. What better way to get new customers, i.e. word of mouth.

Overall Rating : 8
I have been playing guitar for 35 years. My other amps are a Fender '59 Bassman reissue, and a modified '71 Fender Vibro-Champ.
A Gibson '58 & '56 Les Paul reissue, '93 Fender Am. Telecaster, '68 Gibson ES-335 12 string, and a '02 Gibson J100.
I have owned many different amps over the years, GAS! I like the Fender type sound and this Brown Sugar nails alot of what I love best about those vintage amps.
I knew I was going to buy an Allen amp. The Sweet Spot would have been my other choice.
If the Brown Sugar had "Brownface" era vibrato, it would be "Perfect"!
