Alnico 12" guitar speaker Made in the 1980's. I have the "h" series, meaning high power -(100 watts rms). Paper dust cap. Altec made several models, I know Randy Rhoads And Santana used them, although i think they used the "C" model with the aluminum cone. Mine is voiced a little closer to the EV's, but with the Alnico magnet.

This speaker is an interesting cross of a couple of speakers. it does the clean thing similar to a JBL, but not quite as sterile sounding, and does the rock tones well. More on the flat response side than a celestion, but still sounds great. With the alnico magnet, you get a lot of sweetness, sounds great with strats.
I play a wide variety of styles;blues, jazz latin, fusion, and occasional rock. It does fine for all of them. I haven't really had the chance to crank it up yet, but am impressed with it so far.
Don't expect a lot of speaker distortion with these, but if you want the amp to set the tone more than the speaker, this may be the ticket for you.

This is a 20 year old speaker, but it is in excellent condition. The cone is in super shape, and appears to have a long life ahead of it.

HMM, none to speak of, being Altec went out of business a while back.

I have been playing for 30 years, off and on, and lately have done a lot of experimenting with speakers. I have tried about 5 eminence speakers (like the RW+B the best), and EV, JBL and Fane. This one always seems to get as much play time as the RWB, and that's a good thing.
