The featured are all well explained previously. Very well rounded 'hybrid' amp. Considering the price well voiced and powerful enough for any reasonable application. Works nicely live and suitable for a practice amp.

I almost exclusively use telecasters and now play most anything other than 'metal'.
This little ampeg has survived the rough and tumble of a live gigs with the occassional replacement of the single pre ampe tube.
The distortion is sufficiently 'valve' like to justify the emphasis on it's hybrid status and works nicely with a wide range of effects. I almost always use the amp with a deluxe memory man, a soul bender and an emma discumbobulator - with these I can produce almost any tone I ever need.
I have other amps but I like the simple reliability of this little beast - plus if it gets nicked I haven't lost a thousand pounds.

I've had this ampeg since new after it sat in a local guitar shop for a few years gathering dust. Other than replacing it's single pre amp tube very few years 100% reliable.

Been playing for twenty years and had a wide variety of amps - this one is certainly worth buying especially at secondhand prices. I would certainly replace it if it was stolen - don't suppose I would find on though !

I bought this amp in the early 90's. It's a two channel solid state amp, with one pre-amp tube. The reverb is a nice touch, esp with the clean channel. It's 70 watts solid state power, which doesn't make it that loud, but great from practicing and quite band situations.

I use a variety of guitars with this amp. Peavey Wolfgangs, Fender Telecaster, and a Les Paul Standard. It can do hard rock with the Wolfgangs, and blues with the Tele/Les Paul. Very quiet amp clean and distorted, with a little feedback depending on the guitar. The clean channel does get a bit dirty at high volumes, but it's a pleasing sound to me and not overly dirty. At low volumes the distortion is thick, but the louder you go you lose some of that 'sweetness.'

I've owned this amp for 12 years now. Not a single problem to date. Changed the pre-amp tube every couple of years and that's it. I don't gig, but if I did I'd have a back up cause you just never know.

I emailed Ampeg a couple of years ago to ask about this this amp. They responded within 24 hours with what they could answer for an amp this old.

I've been playing for over 20 years now. I've owned a lot of guitars and amps, and I can say that this is one piece of gear I can't say anything bad about. My main 'loud amp' is a 5150 Combo that I use to be heard over a drummer. They're differnt, but I love them both. If lost or stolen, I'd be sad, but finding another one would be rare, so I'd just try something else. However, I would miss it. The AX-70 is a great practice or small gig amp. I don't regret buying this amp one bit.

Amp was made in late 80s early 90s owned it since new. Pretty versatile. Nice clean distortion is OK. I play mostly rock, heavy and classic. 2 channels and reverb on the footswitch.I never used the line out or in. Has dual inputs. I use the lower db in because I have active electronics. I use this amp for practice and gigging. 70 solid state watts gets loud and tinny when really pushed. I changed the speaker about 10 years ago to a Mesa Black Shadow. Sounded better with it.

I play a Carvin dc127, mahogany neck through with a piezo bridge. The piezo sounds suprizingly good on the clean channel. It's good for all kinds of music. AX7 tube preamp. Does it really change the sound? Well, I wouldnt call this a tube amp. Its an OK amp for practice and playing.

Been playing for about 12 or 13 years. This is the first amp I ever owned and I still use it. It's not my primary amp but I use it when I don't feel like lugging other stuff around. It always tows the line!

I use mostly Godin LG and LGTs with seymour duncans. I play 70s rock and some country and country rock. Amp sounds great with plenty of bottom. THe bright switch makes it kinda tinny though. The distortion channel is great and the reverb is typical Ampeg.

Had it for a few months now. only has one tube for the preamp. Amp section is solid state. Don't gig so it stays in one place all the time but whenever u hit the switch you get that great ampeg sound, everytime. It's a little noisy since my house is older and there is no grounding on the plugs.

Ain't had to call Ampeg but as old as this amp is I doubt they'd have much support for it unless it was schematics. I give em an 8 just cuz the product is sooo good and I doubt this amp has ever been serviced.

I've seen these go for as much as 250 bux so I figure I got a deal. Amp was in pristine shape. I keep looking for another to buy. This amp beats the hell outta fenders for clarity on the high ranges and on the lows as well. The mids are comparable to just about anything fender puts out. Ampeg=tone, bottom line. I own a tri-axe vt-60 and the reviews do do it justice, a fender blues junior which sounds great once you turn up the volume and a couple Randalls(50&80 watters) that have great distortion but nothing compares to ampeg,
