I guess this amp was made in the early seventies when Magnavox owned Ampeg, it's just single channel, volume, treble, bass, tremelo speed & depth, & Reverb. No effects loop, stereo switch jack for trem & reverb. When I bought the amp it had no speaker and the output tubes were missing, I've put an old Celestion G12H greenback and had the output stage modified to take 6V6, a previous owner had attempted to use EL34's! It has a bright sweet tone and clips nicely at just over half on the volume, it's underpowered for most gigs but great for home, recording and the odd church gig. For bigger gigs I have a VT22 and I sometimes use the GU12 as a tone provider at the front end.

Sound Quality : 10
Mostly I use a Strat but I have an old SG a custom made Tele, I prefer to play Blues when I can but I can end up doing alsorts. This amp has a real sweet tone with the combined bridge & middle pick ups on the Strat and sings on the neck pick up, the reverb is noisy, so I keep this fairly subtle, distortion? just open it up!

Reliability : 10
It's packed up once, at home thankfully! it's been so heavily modified it was a bit unstable but my amp guru Doc Pez sorted it for me.

It's way past warranty, I've found the Ampeg web site and links helpful, but Ampegs come very well built easy to service and with the circuit diagram glued to the chassis lid, so useful.

Overall Rating : 10
I've been playing 30 years, this is my favourite amp, I've been a long time Fender user, I still own one, I've also used Vox, Hiwatt, Wem, etc. but I use mostly Ampeg now. The only thing I would wish for is more headroom but I don't think I'd get the same tone.

Fantastic Rolling Stones & Ventures chunka-chunka R'N'R sound.Good for Blues when cranked, enough breakup for some edge ,great picking definition.Vintage tube sound.TUBESTUBESTUBES>.

Reliability : 8
Built lika a fort at Ampeg's old Linden NJ Plant.Heavy though.Head has motor mounts,no problem with vibration.Power tubes run hot,but have not had to replace them, uses 2 7591A which can be exspensive.Has a PC board ,don't like those usually, but this one seems pretty simple
and spread out enough to allow for repairs.so far it just keeps on playing.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Never needed to deal with whomever calls themselves Ampeg these days.

Overall Rating : 8
Been playing too long to remember.I'd buy another if price was right.
Havn't seen too many though.
