4 inputs, shared tone stack, GREAT Reverb, unique optical tremolo. Loved the sound for surf style when the mids were dialed out, the tremolo was on lightly, and the reverb cranked about half-way

Sound Quality : 9
Used this with a couple of cheap strat knockoffs. Back then, I played a little of everything. It was the 80's and I played it all, except for the keyboard MTV stuff. Beatles, Stones, Kinks, Rockabilly, country, surf. I loved older music and so did this amp.

Reliability : 8
Mine was great, but I abused it with a mismatched load and smoked one of the transformers. Totally my fault. Should have lasted a LOT longer than it did.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Support? Come on, it's a vintage amp. Find a tech you trust or take your chances on your own knowledge and skill. Tube amps are no place for exploring. If you don't know what you're doing, back away from the amp, put down the soldering iron, pick up the phone and call a tech.

Overall Rating : 9
Played it for 3 years before I blew it up out of my ignorance and youthful stupidity. Had I known how much I'd miss it, I would have kept it for an end table.

Basic 1970 Ampeg combo amp. Two 6L6's pushing 2-12"
Altec Lansings, EQ filters, no channel switchings, Tremolo and Reverb.
This is a none-bias amp. Lot's of preamp and amp tubes in this
thing: a 7199, a 6CG7, four-12AX7's. Lots of power.

Sound Quality : 10
Excellent. Old Ampeg's have a raw, nasty sound
all their own. Much different from a Fender or Marshall sound.
Great Blues amp, and for playing rock. The Altec-Lansing
Speakers are a treasure. They break up just at the right point.
Almost as loud as a 50-watt Marshall with good response all
through out the ferq range. Speakers are rated for all the
power. It is a noisy amp. Forget about studio recording with
it. Use with Les Paul's and Strat's. Play blues.

Reliability : 10
Excellent. Meant to tour and live gigging. Huge
transformer, a heavy duty cabinet materials. 30-years old and
still pushing air. Only hassle has been a fried resistor.

Customer Support : No Opinion
unknown. Some of the preamp and amp tubes
(7199's)could be tough to find and pricy until recently.

Overall Rating : 10
Excellent. A Blues amp par excellence. I run Grove
Tube 6L6C's at a grade 7 or 6, Grove Tube 12AX7R's. Amp will
then overdrive without emptying the first five-rows or pushing
first 20-ft of audience back and has warm mids.
