I found my Gemini II at a vintage music store in Chicago. It has the very sharp looking blue checkerboard covering. The amp is very straight forward in its design (like they should be in my opinion). It has 2 inputs (channels). All tube reverb and tremelo (speed and intensity knobs) with both being controlled via footswitch. The treble control has an *asterisk mark on it, so that when you turn it up fully...it will "click" to give you an extra brightness. It's a really cool feature. This amp has everything you would need and it handles pedals really well. I will gig with this amp. It's a bit heavy...but hey, at least it's only one trip into the club!!! There is no ext. speaker jack or effects loop. If you happen to play accordian...there is an input just for that instrument!

This amp has an unreal clean sound...and with the 15" speaker it really has some fantastic low end while still cutting through and sounding crisp. It has a very rich sound that really sings. The reverb and tremelo are perfect...not overbearing...just perfect. It's a 30 watt amp that easily sounds like 40 watts. You can play this at home (where cranking it is sometimes tough) and still get a really nice tone...but this amp really comes alive when you start cranking it up. When you turn it up to about 3/4 of the way you will be hearing, in my opinion, one of the best amplifiers ever made. It mixes with a band perfectly and I can see this amp working with just about any type of music.

I've had no problems with it yet.

It's used...so i wouldn't bother them.

I've been playing for quite a while...and as we all come to find out, the search for a sound that makes you happy never really ends, it just pauses momentarily when you find something killer. So...with that being the case, this is an amp that i will keep with me for the long haul. It's from a time when amps were made the way they should be made....and that fact becomes very obvious after playing for just a few minutes with this beast. If you can find one that is still in decent shape...grab it...i can't see how you would ever be disappointed.

1966 ampeg gemini 2 G-15. 30 watts rms, (plenty loud for a rock band). I was in a studio with every concievable amp, and after trying them all, i ended up using the ampeg on every track. so, i went out and bought it. I don't use pedals or channel switching. Just a volume control on the amp and one on the guitar. the echo (reverb) is awesome, and the tremelo is divine. mine has been converted to 6l6s, as the original power tubes are very rare.

Sound Quality : 10
I use a gretsch hollowbody, an 80's sg and a strat copy. each guitar gives a different tone. i play alot of surfy, older rock styles, and those few knobs give me enough versatility for anything that i personnally need. no slayer tones, but great ac/dc style dist. it is a little noisy, but it has the original capacitors and old miss-matched tubes. still sounds unbeilivable.

Reliability : 9
i've only had it for a few days, but it was made in 1966, and there are no real problems, being almost totally stock, i can imagine a very long life.

the dont even make guitaramps anymore, so poop on them. the web has lots of resources, though. any tube-amp repairman, should have no problems, as they are quitesimple.

I used to play a dual rectifier with a million buttons and knobs, but i prefer my ampeg. it is not for everyone, but it is perfect for me. built like a tank, not a fender or marshall, and just plain cool.

Yea I have one and I think it is 1969 w/ the original Blue Bell in it!! Versatile as the peddles you use . No chan switch,ef loop and headphone jack...wtf is up with that? Who needs that? Anyways , any amp that has an "accordian " imput you know is going to kick your ass! Not sure about it being 30 watts but it is all tube point to point class A . Doods and Doodett's take a sure sm57 and stick it at the back end and get the hairiest recording tones ever. Perry loved to this. Not sure if it has enough head room for live application. If you find one with original handle congrats!

Im not sure what year, though they were only made from 65-70 so its someone in that range-30 watt all tube 15 inch speaker-has 2 channels-has treble boost, amazing reverb, and a crazy trembelo unlike any Ive heard-

Sound Quality : 10
I use a epiphone dot(humbuckers)-real non stack amps dont have built in distorion ;),unless you crank them, this one breaks up about a lil past the half way point up,sounds good, use a mashall bluesbreaker pedal as so not to get evicted from my apartment-Has a has bell like highs and nice lows, and ampeg famous delicious reverb-you want somthing you hear off a vintage record this is it

Reliability : 7
heres the soso part-the amp is 30-35 years old-somtimes it gets this background noise thats not overbearing but annoying-however Ive been told this is a tube issue-so assuming it is I would trust it stand alone

Customer Support : No Opinion
NA-bought it old n used

Overall Rating : 9
Ive been playing 15 years-been through and played ALOT of crap, and unfortunelty Id say 95% of the new amps out there today including the reissues(excluding gibson+ampeg)are pure overpriced sh*t-If you agree with me on this you might like this amp,it has a great warm rich and classy sound, great for rock jazz n blues-its a heavy big amp, this is my only real complaint about it-
