Early 60's Ampeg Jet ... blue Tolex, one 12 inch speaker, 15 watts Class-A, has tremelo, controls are Volume / Tone / Tremelo (one nob for tremelo; turn it on and increase speed with one button). I don't know if the tremelo can be switched out with a footswitch ... two inputs; one is marked "accordian" (HaH!!), on-off toggle switch, and the GREEN Power light. If your lucky, you'll get one that has the tube chart on the inside of the cabinet. Five tubes, Triode Electronics in Chicago (and on the web) has all the tubes you need for this amp (no, I don't work for them).
I play mostly rock and do a lot of home recording. Not a metal amp (get a good pedal for metal, and stop dragging that stack around ... when is the last time MOST readers had it up past three or four without threats from soundmen of clubowners?). Plenty loud and plenty of loud clean sound, although it will break up a little when you wind it up. Loves pedals .... wish it had a standby switch, wish it had wheels, kinda heavy. I gave it a 5 because it is what it is, a basic tone platform. What comes out of it depends on what you bring to the party, your axe, and any pedals ....

I use a 90's Washburn Jackson USA Merecury with Seymour Duncan pickups. I think it sounds great, but I'm not looking for buckets of gain, and I don't play nu-metal. I put a Tech 21 GT2 in front of it and I'm good to go. I'm playing mostly rock, some country, some old sould and R&B, some pathetic attempts at jazz and funk

I had a good amp tech give it a once-over when I bought it: replaced a bad power transformer, two tubes, installed three-prong cord, and had the speaker re-coned (not original speaker, unfortunately). No problems since then .... class-a amps are easy to work on. I would use it without a back up, ONLY because the Tech 21 is so good you can go straight into the board with it.

I like it a lot, it's made in america, simple to work on, not a lot of bells and whistles to go wrong. Good basic tone you can build on with different pedals. Built-in vibrato!! The only thing I might change is to put a good Jensen or Weber speaker in one day.
