This is a 1960's (1966 ?) 22 Watt single channel all tube amp (R-12-R-B schema) with semi-conductor rectifier (diode bridge), original to the bone - even to the 2 prong 110V plug. Weird tubes (still available, but odd: 7591, 6SL7 and 6SN7...). Has Reverb ("Dimension" control) and Tremolo (speed and depth controls), and of course Volume and Tone controls. These were built before effects loops and headphones... sorry, if you need these you want a re-issue... This amp crunches at an amazingly low volume. It might be unusual for an Ampeg, but it does. It might be because it's running on the original Ampeg tubes... 40 year old tubes might do just that... but the sound is quite desirable. Think 1960's Rolling Stones. A real blast from the past ! the reverb is very deep and sounds very psychedellic. The tremolo is a bit fast to my taste, but it's different than usual trems. Very deep and mysterious... wooooo, baby !

I bought this amp used and was looking for a clean lightweight 60's amp. The clean was more of a crunch, but I couldn't turn it off. It's relatively clean up until 5. Then it crunches without too much volume gain. Great for studio work ! a dream !!! I was thinking of having it looked at for the "low volume" problem, but I think I'm not gonna do it. It's great like that. I play all kind of music, but this amp is for 60's psychedelia !

Dependable... been running for more than 40 years with the same tubes... you might call that dependable. OK, it's acting weird, but to my taste, it got better ! I'll eventually try a tube change...

Fun factor is at 8 ! I've been playing for 28 years and own a bunch of stuff. I'm not saying it's an untouchable, but if I ever have to sell it, I'll be sad for sure. If it was stolen, I'd try to find one like it... good luck ! I love it's light weight, it's particular sound, but I might have installed a speaker with more low-end, but that's the way they made'em back then ! groovy !
