This am made in 2002 I think, It is my best amp ever, have peavey classics, had marshall 30 and also 2 fender hot rod deluxe, This is the best, better that peavey but Peavey is good too. I wish it had an extension speaker jack.

Sound Quality : 10
I have 5 electric guitars and the mini humbuckers and the single coils sound the best. I don't like my humbuckers on my guild so it may be the guitar. I have fender stat that sounds the best though it with my diamond blue pedel and I am in ampeg blues heaven. Can get good Hendrix, and Johnny winter and don't care about the rest.

Reliability : No Opinion
Only had it 3 months so don't know.

Customer Support : 9
Awesome email support on a speaker question I had, they send me a schematic or what ever it is called.

Overall Rating : 9
I started at 14 and am 52 now and play at least every day. I have not gigged or jammed with it yet but recorded it is heaven.

This baby is a no-frills easy to use amp. Simple controls all are self explanatory. The accordion input is actually padded -6db and works nice. Reverb has a separate control. Simple footswitch.

Sound Quality : 10
This is why I lusted after this amp. I filled in for a buddy last minute for a gig and used his rig. I play have a stratty SRV, Trower kinda style. First song with this i was blown away. I ran straight to a clyde mcoy wha then into the amp. WOW WOW WOW. Totally nails the SRV tone. The drve channel can go from subtle to serious. You caclean up perfectly by rolling the guitar volume back a notch or two. The clean channel is fender quality, I dont make that statement lightly. TUBE TONE FOR DAYS>

Reliability : 10
Never had an issue played over a hundred gigs and never once had an issue.

Im not sure exactly what year mine was made in but its an earlier model that still used the EL34 setup rather than the new ones that use 6L6's in the power section. ITs yr basic amp setup 2 inputs, Volume, Gain, High, Mid. Low, Master Vol (for gain channel) and Reverb. 50W into 2x12.

Sound Quality : 8
I've been using the amp for fairly heavy indie rock and stoner rock. The amp has a beautiful bluesy clean tone that has a nice Fender clairlity to it rather than the flat Marshall clean tone. When the amp is cranked the clean tone gets a nice subtle grit to it but keep in mind that you need to crank the shit out of this amp to get that grit and the volume level is insane for a 50W amp. The Dirt channel is fairly good it has a very Marshall JCM 800 tone, hard rock gain, very good for getting the Angus Young tone (if thats what you want) But my major complaint about the dirt channel is the lack of EQing. For some reason the Eq makes very little difference on the gain channel, it lacks any high so the crunch comes out a little muddy at times. With my strat this amp shines great shimmering tone without sounding glassy with my SG the bluesiness of the amp really comes out, with a promounced low end and lots of clarity.

Reliability : 8
I still have yet to have any problems with the amp, the original owner had blown both the speakers in the first month of owning it, but since i know him and have seen how he treats his gear it really is no suprise... As for my period of ownership nothing at all has gone wrong and a crank the shit out of it 3 times a week and practice. I gig without a back up without a second though.

Customer Support : 10
When the prevous owner blew both speakers they replaced them under warranty, no questions asked. For myself i have yet to get it serviced so we'll just have to see about that one.

Overall Rating : 8
i've been playing for about 11 years and have gone through many classic amps that just didnt cut the mustard ( Twins suck ass). I would gladly replace this amp if it ever got stolen, but if i had my choice id go after a Sunn Model T ... those amps slay!!!

1999 Ampeg Reverb Rocket 50 watt 2x12, purchased new from the now defunct Mars Music in 2000. 2 Channel, one clean and one lead. The clean has one volume control, and the lead has gain and master controls. Both channels share low, mid, and treble knobs. Two inputs, one "guitar" and one "accordion". Reverb is controlled by one knob. Foot controller allows switching from one channel to the other and turning reverb on and off. Three pre-amp tubes and two power tubes. Blue vinyl cover and chrome plastic lettering looks awesome, and the blue power light is a cool alternative to Fender's red.

If I could add one feature, I would add tremelo. Its absence, however, does not detract from this amp.

Sound Quality : 9
I've played tons of guitars through this amp. My main player right now is a '97 Roadhouse Strat with Texas Specials and a 5-way, strung with 12s and tuned down a half, with various tweaks (extra spring, neck readjust, etc). I've played a couple of old Strats and a few old Gibson hollowbodies through this amp. I bought the Roadhouse when I started playing around a lot of people and moving my equipment a lot... I don't trust anybody around a $4,000 guitar and am not about to take an old Strat to parties and get togethers.

I play mostly texas blues and rockabilly. This amp sounds incredible. I am blown away by the sounds I get out of this thing.

On the clean channel, the amp breaks up beautifully at about 7.5, and really blows out at 8.5. The overdrive has a great growl, though I don't use it much unless I'm going for an overdriven Redhouse-style sound. The reverb tank went out about a year after having the amp, and I had it replaced with a Fender tank. At 9, the reverb drips off of the notes a la Dick Dale, at 10 the treble feeds back to give weird ghost sounds.

I HAVE NEVER HEARD a sound closer to SRV's, bar none, than my cheap Strat (relatively speaking) on the second position plugged straight into this amp on the clean channel (volume 7.5, reverb 4.5, treb 6, mid 8, low 7). I've heard, seen, and played through a lot of rigs (some worth more than $30,000), and though I've heard some tones that compare, they are cost prohibitive (the collectors have f**ked the musicians making a '59 worth $15,000).

Everytime I play for people, I get compliments about the tone. Whether this amp makes the bell tones of a Strat sound better, or the Strat makes the amp sound better, I could record with this sound (and probably will). Little Wing and Lenny tones are virtually exact matches through this amp.

I've played through tons of effects in the past, and still play through some (never underestimate the power of true bypass), but I find the more I play through, the more it detracts from the tone of the amp. I will say, however, that with a little slapback, some trem, and a tiny bit of compression, the rockabilly sounds out of this thing are killer (though the EQs have to be adjusted for Stratabilly, Telebilly, or a Hollowbody).

Reliability : 8
Like I've said, the only problem I've ever had with this amp is the original reverb tank tanking on me. The Fender tank I had put in sounds better, anyway, and at $130 total for the repair and a great deal on the amp to begin with, I really can't complain.

The reverb sounded so good on the amp originally that I couldn't play through it without it.

I've never had a problem with the electronics on the amp, and the tone just gets better with age. The current set of tubes sound incredible.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Never dealt with Ampeg. Didn't want to go through the hastle of calling anybody for the tank repair, so I just took it to a local guy.

Overall Rating : 9
As far as I am concerned, the tone out of this amp is incredible. The next amp in my collection (four months) will be a Marshall Super Lead head circa 1968-72 and whatever cab makes it sound the best. I've already got the tone I want for my clean sounds.

I will probably be buying another old Strat in three months, but it kills me that they're so God Damn expensive now. It's almost not worth it.

It this amp were stolen or lost, I would try to replace it if I could find another one. It's already got a unique sound compared to other ones I've heard, however.

When I bought it, I compared it to all of the new Fender tube amps and the VOX reissue. Nothing came close to this amp.

I'm looking forward to seeing how this amp sounds with the new effects I'm putting together (vintage TubeScreamer & FuzzFace, Fulltone wah, octave, vibe, echo). With the Marshall Super Lead, I should be able to combine the sounds of the two amps and reproduce any Jimi or Stevie Ray tone. That is, of course, if my fingers and neurons permit me too.

In five years, if I only have one piece of equipment that I have now, it would absolutely be this amp.

This amp has a basic 2 channel setup but the response of the treble middle and bass are very good, the reverb is also a killer. It comes with a footswirch to select the channel and to toggle the reverb.

Sound Quality : 10
I use an 89 fender stratocaster made in the USA with the lace sensors (gold)and the clean channel is absolutely amazing!!! I've had a lot of amplifiers in the past but this one takes the cake for clean! There is plenty of volume to go around and this is no grunge playing amp, it just oozes tone. Turned WAY UP the clean does break a little but it is a sweet tube tone.

Reliability : 9
When I bought this amp it was used and looked VERY ABUSED it was down right filthy! it looked like it had spent 10 years in a bar as a house amp but it ran perfectly and still does , (I cleaned it up quite nicely though)I WOULD gig without a backup amp, this is an amp that I trust.

Customer Support : No Opinion
I've never had to use it

Overall Rating : 10
I've been playing now for 21 years and if I EVER find one for this price again I WILL BUY IT!!! The clean is amazing and the size is perfect for gigging around I have owned a Hiwatt 50 custom, Fender Bandmaster reverb, Marshall mosfet 100,Digitech gsp21 with a Mosvalve pwr amp and I believe this is one of the best easy to use/great sounding amps that I've heard in a long time!

I am a blues player. I have a 74' strat strung with 13's and it sounds absolutely killer. This is the first amp I have owned that I love the gain of. I plug my guitar straight into it. I LOVE THIS AMP>

I giged with this amp for three years all around Missouri. I have only had it looked at once and it was only a tube. If this was stolen I would buy it again. If that was stolen, I would break the thiefs body, and buy another one.PERIOD!

Made in 1999.
50 watt, all tube,
2 channels,
Effects loop (I don't use it, I go Guitar to Pedals to Amp, with quality pedals there is no loss in sound quality).
Volume, Bass, Mid, Treble, Master, Overdrive, Reverb, standby switch.
2 button footswitch for channel and reverb.
Cool navy blue diamond tolex covering, with sturdy silver Ampeg logo on the top of the face.
Sturdy cage surrounding tubes.

I use this amp at home, to record, and playing live shows. Great clean warm tone, plenty of power (this thing can be louder than sh*%!). Very strong reverb to the point of ridiculous if you turn it all the way up (great for spacey psychadelic music and country style pedal steel bends). I rarely use the distorted channel, I use pedals for distortion, and they sound great through this amp. I've had this amp for a couple of years now and I would stack it up to any Fender Twin for sound quality.

Sound Quality : 10
I play a Fender Tele (single coil) and an Epiphone Les Paul (humbuckers) through this amp. It's perfect for good old rock-n-roll, blues, country, any style you want. It's typically not noisy unless you have bad pickups or cables. If it breaks up on the clean channel, chances are you're playing to blow the walls down, because it gets pretty loud before it distorts.

Reliability : 10
The only problem I've had with the amp is when the footswitch chord stopped working, and that was my fault because I sliced it with a chair leg. It's performed for me every time the way I want it to. It's built like a tank, and it has a tough steel cage that protects the tubes. It's manufactured right in St. Louis, MO.

Customer Support : No Opinion
I haven't had to contact anyone yet, but I'm sure the folks in St. Louis would be very friendly.

Overall Rating : 10
If anything happened to this amp, I would buy the same one again. It's built tough, looks cool, and sounds wonderful. Other amps I shopped were a Fender Twin, Fender Hot Rod Deluxe, Mesa Boogie, Vox, and Marshall. I think this amp sounds just as good as any of these, and costs half as much.

The amp was made in 1999 or 2000.This Amp is built like cars used to be made ,"Solid."I play blues and wanted something with a good Clean sound and Distortion bite in one.I went for Fenders Hot Rod Deluxe because of its "PRICE",and size. The fender is only 40 watts but I must say sounds like 80.It has its lists of problems that brings me to the Ampeg I got on a blowout and teachers discount "I was told"for $500.00.I would have went for this amp from the beginng but not for $700.00 or $800.00.I Love this amp -you hear me!!!!I know it sounds kick ass Clean and as far as the mid sound the other guys are talking about turn the mids down.I do not have that problem at all its so smooth and does not break up at all. Here is what I love about this great sounding amp.1I plug in my acoustic guitar (beat up Yamaha)with a Dean Markely pick up and it sounds great (Elmore James Style).2I run my Wha Wha direct and a Boss EQ in the Line and Out as a stomp box (volume boost for my solos, forget Tube Screamers they muck up the sound of the sweet Ampeg bite!!!).3 50 watts of power I dont need anymore. 4 I found an Amp that has great Clean and Distortion (one foot pedal for that)

Sound Quality : No Opinion
I have my pick paisly strat with OBL's pickups (main guitar)Gibson SG,Dearmond M75T with single coils sound kick on it also. But ya know.....take a cheap guitar plug it into a great amp its gonna sound good

Reliability : 10
I love how this is built -metal case covering for the tubes.Metal covers on the corners of the amp, even the handle sturdy. The logo is thick metal like a car.Knobs are not wimmpy. Frame is strudy ,I am going to need casters for it.Still new no problems

I couldn't tell you what year this amp was made. Possibly a 99 or 2000 model. I found it in a music rental store about 3 months ago. I tried out a Laney 50 Watt head, Fender Twin, and the ReverbRocket amp. I would say the Ampeg won hands down in the Clean & Sweet channel department. Very full clean channel compaired to the Fender. The distortion channel seemed to focus on the mids a little too much for my taste, but it is for a more classic 70's type of sound(Crank up the overdrive to max and play the intro to Magic Carpet Ride and you will see what I mean). It has just the basic two channel clean\overdrive setup. Not a lot of frills to start giving you problems (I.E. Laney).
Mostly I use this amp for playing Classic rock and Country. Both styles come accross very well on this beast. I would NOT recommend this amp to anyone looking for the Shred metal sound. The overdrive is too mellow sounding for that (which is what gives it more warmth as far as I am concerned).

Sound Quality : 9
I Play most of the time with a Les Paul Custom that has two Bill Lawrence pickups in it. It sounds equally well with my Tex-Mex Strat, or my Gordon Smith (British made). The Gordon Smith has one Dual coil pickup that can produce some very warm and raunchy blues tones. This amp compliments that tone.
I did notice that the Overdrive channel gets kind of noisy when pushing the overdrive over about 40 %. Still this is much better than the Laney head I looked at. Nothing a compressor or noise gate wouldn't fix.
I have seen a few reviews where the clean channel started getting distorted once the volume was pushed past 5 or so. I had no problems with that. In fact, If I ever had to play this beast past 5 I would run the patrons out of the bar. It is loud for it's size.

Reliability : 10
No problems with reliability yet, but I will let you all know. I am rough on amps. They get a lot of use and abuse from all the gigging I do. I can say that I am thinking of investing in a cover of some kind for the amp because it does look killer on stage.

Customer Support : No Opinion
I probably will be calling them soon. The place I bought the amp at did not have the footpedal. Possibly Ampeg will ship me one at no charge.
Hey what can I say I'm cheap!!

Overall Rating : 7
I was using a Peavy Tube-Fex processor with just a solid state Crate power amp and a Fender 4/10 classic speaker cab. I couldn't get the rich full clean sound I wanted from that set up. Ampeg has alway produced excellent guitar amps. I used to own a VT series guitar amp back in the 70's. Great amp then too. Just killed ya when moving it cause it weighed so much.
