THIS CHANNEL SWITCHED AMP HAS 2 12 INCH SPEAKERS AND SOME CAVERNOUS REVERB, LOTS OF GAIN IF YOU LIKE IT.BUT IS LACKING A SPEAKER OUT JACK WHICH I USE FOR OUTDOOR GIGS FOR ADDED BOTTOM. WITH SOME MODS THIS AMP COULD REALLY WORK WELL

CLEAN CHANNEL IS REAL CLEAR TIL YOU HIT 3 OR 4 THEN IT WARMS UP IN A HURRY. BIG FAT TONE REALLY GREAT FOR BLUESY STUFF. GAIN CHANNEL IS ABLE TO GIVE YOU ALL YOU NEED. I THINK SINCE SWAPPING A SET OF EV 12L16 SPEAKERS IN HERE THE AMP BECAME MUCH MORE TRUE AND MANAGEABLE

I'm a little different from most of you guys, because I play harmonica through this amp.
The features of this amp are just awesome. The two 12" speakers, the built in drive and reverb, the groove tubes... and the tweed. THE TWEED. Like mentioned by somebody else, the only thing it needs now is a headphone jack or maybe even a microphone input (since I'm playing harmonica :) )

WOW... this amp brings out the blues in my harmonica. It can go from John Popper style balls to the wall solos or it can be nitty and gritty Chicago blues style solos. And this amp is LOUD... You will be heard over a 20 piece band, whether you're blowing harp or playing lead guitar.

I will never need another amp. I can use pedals for my effects, but this amp blows the competition away. Step aside, Marshall and Mesa Boogie...

Two channels, with volume for each and a gain knob for the drive channel, knob for reverb, knobs for high, mid, and low shared by both channels. 2 inputs (labeled "guitar" and "acordion"!). Toggle switch on amp for channel select. Send and return for effects loop. Footswitch with channel select and reverb on/off. The only other things I could wish for on this amp would be a button on the footswitch to cut out the effects loop, a powered output jack for an extention speaker, and maybe seperate high/mid/low for each channel. And then of course seperate effects loops for each channel, onboard digital effects, onboard tuner, onboard coke machine, etc. This amp has got plenty to satisfy most everbody.

This amp sounds like a freakin' dream! The only reason it got 9 instead of 10 was because the tone controls don't change the tone all that much. The clean channel is really beautifully clear! And rich! Turn it up for a nice shot of texas blues overdrive- clean if you pick light, but chunky and punchy if you pick aggressively. The drive channel gives you tones from almost no distortion to so much that it becomes unusable. It is impossible to get bad tone out of this amp unless you turn the pregain up to 10. Plenty of distortion for any kind of metal, but you can't scoop the mids at all really with the onboard tone controlls. I solved that with a Boss 7-band equalizer pedal. Absolutely marvelous. Between the amp and the eq, I can duplicate any tone immaginable (except the really strange ones).

Once or twice since i've had it, it has added a sound like two pieces of metal vibrating against each other. It was only momentary, and didn't seem to have anything to do with the settings of the amp except volume maybe (and it was't THAT loud- I've played way louder). I've been too lazy to find out about it yet, as it has happened so infrequently- but it still concerns me a little.

I've played for four years now, and I play a healthy shmeer of blues, hard rock and traditional metal. This amp serves all those ends really really well. It is currently bthe only amp I own, and I am not shopping for anything else (well, not any more amps). I would definitely buy this amp again if I lost it.

This is a 1965 reverborocket with 1 12" Jensen Speaker . It is a great amp for Blues or Jazz. The amp only has 1 Channel with 3 inputs for Guitar , Accordion, or Mic. This amp is blessed with a pretty versatile tone control. I wish it had 2 channels so I could bridge them for power and also a more heavy duty speaker. The Jensen just breaks up a little too easily. The tubes are a bit high fi with 2 7868 power tubes, 1 6bk11,1 6u10 and 2 12ax7s.

I am playing a 1962 Guild Manhattan and a `67 x-500. A 1966 Epiphone Broadway and a `95 Heritage Golden Eagle are also in the line up. Jazz or Surf are this amps leanings with an extremely rich reverb and midrange. The amp is great for lead and of course small club venues. Gene Bertoncini and Howard Alden played through it in 1996 At a Louisville Jazz clinic and Bertoncini fell in love with it. The channel becomes distorted after 5 and the speaker is gasping for air at about 6 . It still is a rich sound that you hear on many records in the vein of Grant Green and Kenny Burrell. The distortion really isn`t the nasty type it is more of an almost bluesy growl. This is probably the Jensen`s influence. These tubes overdrive with a mellow bark since they are larger than 6v6`s and are designed not to run too hot.

I purchased the amp in July 1995 and have spent Much $$$$ on replacement tubes and repairs. The amp was and is in mint condition It simply was not played enough and kept up. We have a sweet relationship now although she is a little jealous of my newly acquired Gemini 6 there is a review for that one as well.

I have been playing since 1985 when guitars were unheard of in Pop music. Remember Duran Duran, Kajagoogoo,Information society and whomever else. Started off as a bass player but I picked up guitar in `88. I would replace the amp since Ebay has it at much more reasonable $$$ than what I payed. Plus I have several sets of complete replacement tubes sets. I love the tone but I do hate the lack of available parts . I think it has a more luscious tone than a deluxe reverb I wish it had more power though. The Gemini 6 makes up for that shortcoming but is too big to carry around. I chose this amp because of Aspen Pittmans coments in his Amp book and plus it looks totally hip. It really is the best small gig and recording amp I have played and I hope that 1 day Ampeg will use the original tubes and circuitry in their reissue models so the mainstream can enjoy this amps design.

Simply put, this amp is the best I've owned up to this point. Very sweet reverb, Nice crunchy distortion. As common with tubes, you can play clean and self distort by hitting your strings a little harder or switch to your gain channel. 2 switch footswitch gain & reverb. High and low impedance inputs. Effects loop jack, line in/out. Only thing missing is a headphone jack.

I can't say for other guitars, but combined with my Rickenbacker the sound is gorgeous. This may sound hokey, but with my rig this amp blew away all the Fenders and Marshalls in tone. The tone is just downright sweet. I find myself never having to even switch pickup positions with this amp, the clarity in everything is so great. I believe its a 60 or 75 watt amp, but whatever it is it is LOUD. Up against a wall you'll blow your eardrums out at just 3 or 4 on volume. Stays extremely well clarified even at loud volumes. Gain channel may not be quite as heavy distortion as really heavy metal guys might like, but for most I think it would definitely suffice. For playing anything else from jazz to blues to retrorock to alternative it is just awesome.

In somuch as it's new, I expect it to be pretty reliable. It comes from the factory equipped with Groove Tubes, which I've had pretty good luck with in the past.

Overall, as i said in the beginning, it's the best amp I've ever owned. Better than any of the Peaveys or Fenders I've ever had, by far. I understand that this amp is now made by the Crate people out of St. Louis...funny, because comparable Crate amps sounded like crap compared to this amp. Only drawbacks to it are lack of a headphone jack, which personally I don't use anyway, and the weight; this amp is heavy - definitely not something to lug up and down the stairs every day unless you're in training to fight Holyfield.
