quite a few sounds can be had from this amp. absolutely crushing distortion. clean sounds to rival a roland jazz chorus IMO. want that sound from "when heaven comes down" dokken? a close approximation can be found here. godsmack amp on fire tone? on sale here. the only caveat is the clean channels gain setting. it sounds pretty thin way up. not very useable , but it is a different kind o' tone. i use peavey nitro I's w/ active pickups. this is an alternative amp for me in my rig. shits and giggles. soon ill be able to use it more, when i get an amp switcher. now i have to plug and unplug cords to get to it.

i wouldnt say they that reliable. my amp, when bought used, had serious problems. reverb op amp was shot and the chorus side of the amp was quite messed. problem was a resistor in the power section. i dont use its power amp anymore. yes i would use it as a stand alone at a gig.

a decent amp for the money and an alternative to the boogie tones of today. but, it isnt for everybody. when i bought this amp it was pretty beat up and needed some work. had an ampeg and a celestion g-12M speaker. i cut up the cabinet and made it into an UGLY head. sold the speakers. i use it now w the line out jack into the power amp in section of a peavey VTM-60 to a 4x12 cabinet loaded w EV12L and 12S. i would defintiely buy one again,if stolen, but no one would want it. so, no worries. cant sell it either. too many cosmetic flaws, he he. i have had a newer version of this amp(an all black one) and the next generation, the VH series. i want a VH series to compliment this amp. can i buy yours?
