The ashdown peacemaker 60H, is an "ALL TUBE 60 WATT HEAD",I belive the amp was made in 2002, i purchased mine in early 2005.
the amp for me is more than versatile enough, i play a lot of classic rock and blues type riffs, and it handels that style immensly well.i chose this amp over a fender stage 100 and over a marshall jcm 800.both of which are a higher wattage.
the amp it's self has 2 main channels, clean and dirty, both with there own gain and volume levels,it also has a "3rd" channel that is only accable with a 2 button footswich(which the amp does not come with),which is a slightly higher gain distortion.the amp has a spring reverb which i personaly found disapointing, especialy when compared with the spring reverb unit in the fender amps.a cool feature in the amp is the 2 master volumes, that can be changed with a footswitch, BUT!,it is a seperate switch to the chanel switch, so yes you will have to buy one 2-way and one, 1-way footswitch to use all the features on the amp, which is a bit of a let down..they could have just made one footswich input that can handle a 3-way switch!,the amp uses 2 el34 for the power tubes, and 12ax7 for pre-amp stage, which is good when coming to replace the valves, as most valved amps have 4 el34's. so you save money there.the amp also features an effects loop with is own level, and it has 3 speaker out's 2 8-oms and 1 16-ome.

Sound Quality : 9
at the moment i'm using a Fender telecaster, with a seymour duncan hotrails in the bridge. which seem to go very well when creating that classic rock, blues sound with this amp.i have used this amp at many differnt sized gigs, and it has always had enough power, i've never had the master volume over half way.,but i regret to say that in the recording studio the amp does create quite alot of natural hum, even with running a noise supresser through it., the distortion channel is very good for what i do,but alot of people may find it laking in "beef", it's a very bluesy sound and would definatly not suit heavy metal players, altho,i do run a Boss ds-1 through it and use that for the extremly trebley hi-gain noise. for playing more punky riffs, and it sounds great. the onboard distrotion is excelent for that led zeppelin, ac/dc sound tho, you can get bang on that.but the (2nd) distortion channel is way too simarler to the 1st., i would have liked to see more differnce. the clean channel is where this amp really shines,it is the perfect clean sound, even better than the famous " fender clean", which is what made me choose this amp over the stage 100. and no matter how much volume you give it as long as you keep the gain below half way it wont distort.

Reliability : 9
this amp is quite relible,i've giged with it non stop for 7 months, without a back up,how ever it did require a valve change after 5 months and the reverb does tend to "stop reverbing" when the amp gets too hot, which i found very odd, but by very hot i mean it has been left on for over 6 hours. but it has never broken down during a live gig.,but i would sugest having it serviced at least every 5-6 months to keep it sounding tonefull.

Customer Support : 9
when i got this amp it came with a 12 month warranty, but that didnt include valve failure or malfunction., when having it serviced it is relitivly simple and cheap and i've never had any problems getting it done.i've been told by the people that service it it is relitivle simple inside, and i've never had to wait any longer than 2 hours for a full service.

Overall Rating : 10
i've been playing guitar now for just over 7 years, i play a fender telecaster, and i use a long line of effects, all made by Boss., if my amp ever got stolen or lost i would definatly replace it with the same amp., i love its pure toneal qualities and classic looks, i just wish the distortion had more grunt.this amp is very simarler in sound to the marshall jcm 800, but quite alot cheaper and a hell of a lot more reliable..and it looks better.

this is an update to my previous reveiw..I just read the only other reveiw of this amp...I don't know how the guy is setting up his tone contrils. I have discovered that the gain channel sounds best with the treble knob turned down, considerably, the mid at 12 o'clock or higher, and the bass at about 1 or 2 o'clock. The gain all the way up, and, thru a marshall 1960 slant cab, at LOUD volumes ( it is a tube amp, remember) this amp sounds kick-ass...very JCM 800, to me. You really have to crank up the volume on the gain channel, to get that sound, as the power tubes need to be nice and hot, like any other tube amp. this amp will NOT do the mesa "super distorto" sound, but might, with a pedalin front. if you want the good gain tone at low volumes, I would think that a THD Hot Plate would probably do the trick. I live in a rual area, so I can crank it up to loud volumes with no complaints from the neighbors. also, I have read numerous reveiws on here about the poor build quality of these amps. I haven't gigged with mine ( I bought it for studio use), but I have had zero problems with it, and it has been shuttled around in the back seat of my car a bit. anyway, if your looking for high-gain, this isn't the amp for you...

It's a pretty simple design. Very easy to use. It says it's a channel amp but the third channel is kind of pointless. The styling is pretty tasteful. Only complaint regarding features is it has one master reverb. I wish it was independent to each channel.

I play a 97 US tele w/ Duncan lil 59 in the bridge, a 2003 Gibson Flying V, 1997 Strat Plus with Jb jr in the bridge and a 96 G&L Legacy. My band's style of music is modern rock influenced by Catherine Wheel, Pumpkins, Jimmy Eat World, Radiohead and stuff like that. We use a lot of thick distortion (my other amp is a Mesa Trem-o-verb) but it's not in your-face-crazy.

The clean channel (1) is very very nice sounding. Chimey but not too Voxy. Kind of sounds like a Marshall but with more character. I really dig this channel. Channel 2, the distortion channel sounds like crap to me. Bright, brittle and thin. It lacks all personality.
I thouroughly hate it. When I first tried it out with the band my singer said that when I first switched to the dirty channel it nearly
cut his head off. The "third channel" is a lead channel that sounds just like the 2nd but is twice as noisy. Like I said before, pointless. I rate it a 7 because the clean is sooo good and the distortion is soooo bad.

I was really hoping to fall in love with this amp because it's made by the guys who used to make Trace Elliot and I have always loved their guitar amps. (Thr Trace Elliot Trident and Bonneville are two of the best amps ever!) But this does't sound anything like the old Trace's. It's a well made amp but that distortion sucks and I am not much of a stompbox distortion/overdrive person.

60 watt, class A head. Two channels, with a "third" gain stage on channel two. Channels are footswitchable, as is the "third" channel.Passive tone controls on each channel. I belive it uses 2 el34 for the power tubes, and 12ax7 for pre-amp stage. A cool feature is two master volumes that are foot-switchable. Has an effects loop with a mix control. Only thing that sux is that you can't access the "third" channel without a footswitch, which mine came without. Bought from Musician's Fiend as a "factory refurbished" (it had two dings in the cabinet) unit, for $600

Sound Quality : 10
If you have read the reveiws on the combo 60 watt amp, this thing does everything the combo does. I have only had it for two days, and, since my 4x12 marshall 1960 cab was at the studio, I plugged it into my 4x10 carvin bass cab, and turned off the piezo horn. the clean channel on this thing was worth the price alone! Even through a 4x10 bass cab, this thing sounded fantastic! I am primarilly a bass player, and was looking for a "modified marshall"type tube amp for my studio...I definitely found it. The gain channel crunches like Angus! I played an Epi Les Paul, that I have done a lot of work to, and plays and sounds like the real deal, through it, and I felt like Zak Wilde! It doesn't do the super-saturated gain thing, like a recto, but,if you want that, look at the Ashdown Fallen Angel amp. I was looking for a modified marshall-type tone, and this amp does it in spades, for less then a used marshall! IT is pretty damn quiet, until you switch on the "third" channel, then gets a little noisey, but nothing that would bother anyone. I have yet to plug it into my 4x12, but I know it will sound great!

I have been playing bass for 25 or so years. I have a lot of friends who are in the "business", either in radio or in gigging, signed bands. I have played through a lot of amps, although, nothing that is in the "astronomical"price range. I would compare this amp to any modified marshall, and would also compare it to a VHT Pitbull, but not as versital. I have a Line 6 HD head, and, belive me, modeling will never take the place of a good tube amp, for warmth. The Vetta comes close, but if you want the real deal, check these amps out. I bought this as "refurbished", and I guess that Musician's Fiend is now out of stock on them...but still, even for $100 more,I would still buy it.
