3 channel 100watt solid state amp, 1x12" celestion speaker, reverb. This amp has every thing i need, and it's also hella loud. I play mainly rock and it has plenty of tone for me. I'd definetely gig with this amp as long as the amp was miked up. Then i don't have to push it to the volume limits of the speaker and get shitty distortion.

Sound Quality : 7
I use a shitty Greg Bennet cheapo guitar through a Boss GT-6 and it sounds awesome. at high volume it distorts some times with palm muting, i think that this is partly because it only has an 80 watt speaker for a 100 watt amp. i plan to upgrade the speaker soon so i can unleash it's full potential.

Reliability : 10
Never ever had a problem. It's been dropped, accidentally of course, had stuff spilt on it and general wear and tear but it has held up very well. A friend of mine who has the same amp has had trouble with some of the screws vibrating out but that's hardly something to worry about.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Never had do deal with them and i hope that i never will.

Overall Rating : 10
I have only being playing for 4 years but from the little experience i have i am happy with this amp. If it broke,. which would be a good effort if it did, i would buy another one or maybe the GA100H and the Quadbox to go with it.

3 channel 100watt solid state amp, 1x12" celestion speaker, reverb, having played guitar for 18 years I developed a healthy aversion of cheaper brand gear, until I tried this amp over and over again in the music store I used to work in. No bullcrap this thing sounds awesome for a huge variety of styles of music. I have 2 marshalls (JCM900)+(artist 30)and none of em in my opinion sound as good or as rich as this amp. I use this amp in preference to my Marshalls at gigs in the covers band I'm in time and time again.

Sound Quality : 10
I use a les paul standard premium plus with burstbucker pro's, an epiphone sheraton, epiphone broadway, Early jap squire and a custom made skl33 from Fajdiga guitars with bartolini pickups. I'm in a covers band which plays basically just about every style of music u can think of. The clean channel is super clean, kinda like fender clean, really rich with a very focused EQ, u turn up mids thats exacly what u get, same with bass & treble. Never muddy. Crunch channel is very Marshall, Boost channel is absoulute gut wrenching distorion, again like a Marshall driven real hard, but this channel has a contour pot that dials in some very seriously low end grunt. This amp truly does sound awesome!.

Reliability : 10
I abuse this amp in every respect, i'm not concerned with the appearance of it, so it bounces around in the back of my van everyday, has dings and torn covering etc. and when I use it I'm not afraid of playing it real hard. And it has still never show any sign of any faults.

If you are concerned about your image and being seen playing a cheaper amp. My advice is to buy one and pull off the logo. You wont be disappointed. If mine got stolen I would replace it straight away with the same amp. In fact I have thought about getting another one so I could have 2 just incase they stop making them or something. If I had any issues with it. They would be that in the crunch channel, the gain on the minimun setting is a little on the heavier side, so to get light rock drive u need to backoff the pickup volume. And in the boost channel at very high volume only, the speaker sometimes gets a little flappy.

3 Channel 100w RMS combo. 12" Celestion seventy80 speaker.
separate 3band EQ for distortion & clean. basic reverb, 2 speaket outputs and a dedicated line out. Solidstate with a dedictated FX loop(although no level control) and a fulltime line-out.
Has a lot of output on gain and an enviable amount of clean headroom.
Footswitchable channel/gain & reverb (optional)

Sound Quality : 5
I play mainly metal/hardcore with either an Epiphone LP tuned down to Open B With a Dimarzo Paf pro/ X2N pickup combo. Or a few other guitars in standard E. When i bought this amp it was a big step up for the basic practice combo i had before. With about 2years of use now i have come to realise it's shortcommings.

Whilst on paper it has a great deal of features, the EQ's on this amp are very conservative, and whilst you are able to scoop your tone or add a healthy midrange. It's Mids/contour control does next to nothing tonally, if you scoop it out it leaves you with no definition whatsoever. The Gain whilst nicely thick and saturated lacks presence, although the lower gain channel gives a handy crunch.

I have been using this amp with an EQ pedal for the past year or so and have managed to salvage a usable tone and iron out feedback. This amps greatest flaw is its sensitivity to higher than passive inputs whilst on gain. Basically if you use more than a couple of pedals in your rig forget about it. And that doesnt just go for distortion stomp boxes either, everything from wah's to a full digitech sounds absolutly terrible on this amps gain channel. This happens regardless of whether using the FX loop or main input. Also note turniong down the output level of the pedal/s drops the bass and basic 'meat' of the sound so much its unplayable. So if you own this amp and your having 'clipping' problems with your sound its not the speaker doing it, it's just tempramental.. Get an EQ pedal

Stick to basic rock on this amp, very conservative tone

Reliability : 10
This amp is built very well, with a striking resemblence to some of randall's combos (Compare the area around the heatsink and the facia, they are close to identical with same dimensions)

I have seen this amp put up with over 2 years of use and it still funtions exactly as reliably as the day i got it. Note that during this time, including numerous trips around in the car not a single screw or jack washer has come loose. I have had absolutely no problems whatsoever with its build quality.

Customer Support : 9
I was able to order it's optional 3way pedal with no dramas. Good reliability means i havent had to deal with ashton at all besides that.

Overall Rating : 8
If this were stolen i wouldnt buy the same amp again. Although if i were restricted to an indentical budget to when i got it originally, then i prob couldnt find anything better for the money.

It's strong points are it's value for money and good amount of features.
Its weak points are its conservative-sounding distortion and lack of useful EQ. Its inability to cope with some basic pedal combos presents a very annoying problem for certain live playing things. I highly recomend you buy an EQ pedal for this amp if you want a usuable sound and want to kill it's associated feedback (Just don't boost the output!)

But even after saying all this it was and is still an excellently equiped amp for the money and has seen my through with more good points than bad.

Hunt around second hand on eBay etc as there are many floating around at good prices.

Features : 7

3 channels - Clean/Dirty/Boost channels:
2 footswitchable Gain controls
3 band EQ on clean/dirty channels plus
contour on dirty/boost channels
Footswitchable reverb
Extension speaker jack
24/7 Headphone output
Line out
Effects loop

I'd never use the headphone jack, but other than that it has a good range of features. I've got to say I've only played through the Head and quad box, but I loved it so much I've ordered the combo version of same - that's the GA 100 GTR.
I use a Roland JC 120 right now and will miss the vibrato/chorus. I was very happy with the Reverb - there's lots!! and also impressed with both the clean and dirty channels.

Sound Quality : 10
I used my '74 Fender telecaster deluxe (gibson style humbuckers front and back) and a Boss super overdrive pedal. I had been using 2 of these pedals with the Roland, and was rapt to find that the amps dirty channel did away with the need for one of these so that I just used one to boost volume for lead breaks and licks. Nowadays I play mostly in Garage Rock and Punk bands. I had been very happy with the Roland, however after being forced to share our bass players amp at one rehearsal, I was amazed at the sound and vowed to go looking for it.
I found it in the Ashton GA 100 and now have the combo version - the GA 100 GTR ordered. Most places I play are too small for a quad box, and in the bigger places I can always borrow one to stick under the combo. I haven't been this excited about an amp for decades!

I've been playing guitar for 'round 23 years, 20 of those performing live in bands and recording. Mostly its been in Rock'n'roll bands and usually punk rock like the New York Dolls, The Stooges, Radio Birdman, etc. I've played all sorts of different guitars and amps and have settled on my tele deluxe as the perfect guitar, now it seems I've found the perfect amp for the crunchy punk rock sound I love so much. I can't wait for my very own to arrive. I'm counting the days! The only thing its missing is Vibrato or Tremolo, but wow what reverb!

Ashton, assume its made in aus. two channels, one clean and one distorted (although this channel has two modes, dirty and boost). speaker outputs and footswitch enabled. reverb, but no other effects. fair generic sort of amp.

Sound Quality : 10
I use it with my greg bennett series les paul copy through a boss MD-2 distortion pedal, through my boss me-8 multi-effect board into the amp. i go for loads of tone and the clean channel gives me such a warm, smooth and crisp sound that is really unique and is exactly what i could ever want from an amp.
however, the distorted channel is crap. if you want to have the best of both worlds; soaring distortion and awesome clean sounds then you're just gonna have to invest in a disto pedal and run it through the effects loop. or if you have the moula, buy a better amp.
for me, having a distortion pedal makes a huge difference, and keeps me from wanting something else.

Reliability : 4
The amp is used most of the time at about 2 on the master and 4 on the clean channel for me when i'm writing songs. however, when i jam with the band i crank it to about 5 on both.
i've had a couple of bad experiences with the amp when jamming; the first is that it frequently peaks when set at this volume, it doesn't really seem able to handle the distortion pedal at loud volumes. any sort of bass at semi-loud volume also seems to make the speaker peak out.
the second is that it frequently overheats. there is no in-built fan (really wouldn't expect one for the price) but the cooling fins don't do a damn thing. i jam for about half an hour, then everyone else has to take a break for 10 or so mins while it cools down. if i don't let it cool down, the volume decreases significantly and everything distorts. other people i know that have ashtons seem to have the same problem. someone i know actually puts ice packs on the back of it and he seems to think it works.
so no, i wouldn't gig without backup. buy a cheap quad box to go with it or something as well for gigs. behringer make awesome stuff.

Customer Support : No Opinion
haven't had to deal with them. maybe i should ask bout the whole overheating thing hey.

Overall Rating : 9
Okay, i really do love this amp. i love its unique tone and its general quality for the low price. i love the fact that noone else really owns one. if i had it stolen, i'd go buy it again simply for the fact that it is a major part of my style.
the overheating and peaking things do diminish from an otherwise awesome amp though, and i'm investing in a quad box so that i can sorta push the volume and bass through a bit without having to worry about the thing melting or blowing.
for the money, i've got no real complaints though. buy one. really.

As all I have to say isthat thi amp f...ing rocks.Itried out a 100 watt Marshall MGDFX and this Ashton pisses all over the Marhall.Dont be turned off by the name Ashtonthere bloody mad amps and the Marshall 100 watt amp just has the name. You get the same quality for $300 cheaper. The clean sound is awsome and the boost is hella cool for a more metal/rock/punk sorta sound. The dirty channell has a more crisp lighter sound which is best suited to rock than metal but hey, this amp so good you can use both distortion sounds and they still sound awsome.

The features are ok... i mean its got distortion and clean thats all i really want. its got headphone jack and 1 input...i wish it had a better distortion, the distortion is pretty gay when its cranked up.

Sound Quality : 4
I run it through a Jackson. I play anything from heavy metal to jazz and funk... its good with clean i quite like the clean tone but the distortion is so shit when its cranked up.... and not good for anything past 5 when your playing really chunky palm mute the speaker fully cracks up and chokes.. it sounds like its going to break down. It doesnt really have a piercing distortion.. when i jam with my band it doesnt cut through like my other guitarists amp ... (peavy something or other) its like its a too mellow sound when the distortion is on .. maybe its cause im not standing in front of it

Reliability : 8
I would use it with a gig without back up and i have done many times. it only broke down once when i accidently hit the guitar string into the power and short circuited the whole amp:P. somestimes it sort or crackles or something when i jam :S i have no idea what causes that but its not healthy

Customer Support : 8
yeh it was good enough

Overall Rating : 4
Ive been playing for 3 almost 4 years. i own a jackson 7 string. I woudl certainly not buy it again.. the distortion is pitiful and the sound is terrible sometimes.. I would get a marshall :D. I wish it had a good distortion and the speaker was powerful enough to hold up to heavy distortion and palm mute.. the speaker is so pitiful and weak even though it cranks a massive sound it can't handle bassy stuff. (hard to explain i konw but u will konw what i mean if you try and take it above 6 - 7 with shit loads of distortion.

Well I play a few different styles, from metal, to rock, to jazz, to praise & worship for my church. By the way, I have the GA100 combo. Anyway, for the price, it's a GREAT amp. I wouldn't say it's overly versatile, but it will produce a good (maybe not great) tone for whatever your guitar, and whatever your style. There are 3 channels, Clean, Dirty and Boost. There's an effects loop (series), the one I bought had reverb, but there is a model with verb and chorus. Line-out, phones, and 2 outputs for you to hook up some cabinets and have it run stereo. There's also inputs for footswitches for the verb and boost (also if you have the one with the chorus, you can get a footswitch for that as well) I wish this amp came with the footswitches, but unfortunately you have to buy them seperately, or if you haggle, you could probably get it thrown in for free =]

Sound Quality : 7
Well I'm using Ibanez RG270 => Morley Wah => Ashton GA100. Bridge humbucker sounds great with boost, a combo of the mid and bridge with boost sounds great, mid with clean sounds great, and any of the other combo's with clean sound great. You can get a good tone for whatever style you play, and of course depending on the style, you use different pickups etc. Amp isn't noisy at all, the guitar is what causes my noise problems. Clean is clear at all usable volumes (you couldn't throw this thing on 10, it's way to loud!) I wouldn't use the dirty channel, to gritty, no real presence, but the boost is where you find your self. It's so crunchy. I set the gain on the boost channel to about 4, you can use above that, but at 10 it gets abit too distorted. Oh and the reverb is great, it's spring reverb btw... adds alot of presence to your sound, imo if you want alot of reverb, use it on clean, just use alittle verb with the boost, it goes along way =]

Reliability : 10
I can depend on this amp, infact I depend on it every sunday =] Although it's nothing like a real gig, it's consistant use, and it handles the job great all the time. Not once has it broken down, i've given it a few bumps, knock arounds, and a couple of small drops, the reverb spring hasn't broken, tone hasn't been affected, still performs great!

I've been playing for 5 years (granted it's not as long as some, but it's a fair while) and I've only had one other amp (a crappy 15 watt solid state POS), and being strapped for cash, I couldn't afford a 100watt marshall, or Peavey, or Mesa, or whatever other expensive name brand... but, after buying this, I'm not so sad I didn't have the cash... it's the BEST amp in it's price range... you won't find near this quality for the price. But that being said, I'd much rather have a Peavey 5150, or Carvin Legacy, or Marshal JCM 800.

this amp rocks. i got the GA100 head and quad box for $600, after trading in my old peavey bandit 112, which was a pile of shit. you've got 3 channels.. clean, dirty and boost. i mainly use the clean because i have enough distortion pedals, and at higher volumes the dirty channel tends to be a bit noisy. the footswitch is available seperately, i got a Laney 2 button switch. one controls the clean/dirty channel and the other changes from dirty to boost. the reverb is awful so i dont bother with it.

Sound Quality : 8
i use a epiphone sg-310 with 2x sh-59 pickups and an old ibanez firebird. i think its a gibson copy. a play these though the amo using an eh big muff pi (russian), pro co brat distortion, guyatone "flip valve" distortion/preamp pedal, dod fx747 flange, and a dunlop original crybably. u made a pedal board for these and have them permanently connected to a 9v dc supply. (the guyatone pedla has its own 12v supply) i also use a dod a/b switch box, so i can alternate between my main signal path, and a fender chromatinc floor tuner, so the tuner doesent affect my signal strength (i hear they do this sometimes)

i play ainly punk/hardcore music and this amp does what i need, and paint-peeling volume!

i have only had it for 2 months. so far so good. i know the guys at the store i purchased it from pretty well, so i cant imagine having any problems regarding warranty or repairs.

excellent value for money, even if you dont have a trade in. i think you can get the 4x12 box and the head for $999 still which is awesome value. maybe one day when i can afford to upgrade the head at least i can still use the quad box. excellent sounding amp - this just goes to show you dont have to spend thousands of dollars on a tube amp just to get that "cool" sound..

This amp is good as. I play a squier strat, and, even though the guitar is not the best in the world, it still sounds sweet as through this amp, especially with my pedal. Seeing as I do a lot of covers, the amp needs to change to suit a large variety of styles, and this one does that, no problem!

Sound Quality : 9
The only amp that Ive played through which has the same tonal quality as this one is the Marshall equivalent, which is over double the cost of this amp. I love the sounds, and that is why I use it at all my gigs.

This amp has never broken down on me, and seeing as though I travel a lot, is quite good. I look after all my equipment, which is maybe why I've never had trouble with it.

Nah, definately not. This amp is the best one ive ever used
