A solidly built cabinet with choice of grill cloth and logo style. I play a variety of different musical styles and this cab delivers.

I get a awesome clean and distorted sound from this cab. I bought this cab and the speakers separate and installed them myself, saving a substantial amount of money. I got this cab off EBay for $98 plus shipping and the speakers for around $90 plus shipping from Avatar also. Avatars' Web site has a diagram for wiring the speakers.

It is a just a speaker cabinet, but you are able to select any look and speaker you want. That alone deserves a superior rating.

OK, I call to ask a couple of questions about the cab before I buy it. Who answers the phone? Dave, the OWNER of the company. We set and talk for thirty minutes about the type of amp I have, the type of music I play, and what speaker would be right for both. Not only is he a nice guy but he builds one hell of a cab.

This is hands down the best ever bang for the buck deal for any SERIOUS musician. I play a Mesa Boogie amp through this cab and it will handle anything I could ever imagine. The only way I could could see anyone passing this deal up is if they are one of those fair weather youtube virtuos's that need a big name plastered across the front of their cab to counteract their lack of musicianship.

I bought the custom 4x12 cab. Orange tolex, wheat grill, and two vintage 30's and 2 gt-75's in the "X" pattern. My amp was made and shipped to me in May '07. The amp is VERY versatile, i play metal, rock, pop, and the amp can really satisfy the sounds i'm trying to get easily. I wouldn't change a thing, other than i wish it had CASTERS!!

Sound quality is AMAZING!! I run my amp with a peavy 5150 and my main guitar is an LTD ec-1000. Most people claim the clean channel on a 5150 is useless, but it sounds AMAZING through the avatar! I was very very surprised. And i tell you, if you're into metal, this cabinet will NOT let you down! i get crazy volume and gains from this cab!

I've been playing guitar for about 6 years. Before this amp i owned a crate half stack (crap) haha. But i can EASILY say that my setup (5150, avatar 4x12, ec-1000) sounds MUCH MUCH better than my ex-bandmate's MESA TRIPLE REC & esp eclipse! MUCH MUCH BETTER!!! definitely buy this cabinet! very good quality and sound for a more than reasonable price!

Brand new (Oct. 2006) Avatar 4x12 guitar cab, with rubber feet. Black tolex, wheat colored front with Celestion hot 100s speakers. 8 Ohms, with two input jacks that allows you (to my understanding) to connect it cab to cab instead of head to cab, which in theory means you can hook up two cabinets using one speaker output from your amp head. There's no switch to change the Ohmage on it (which would be nice), and I wish it was 16 Ohms instead, beyond that, it's great. The upside of this is that there's also not a Ohmage switch to break.

The sound quality of the cabinet is freaking awesome. Much better than my old Marshall cab (a valve state cab). The sound is beautiful, and is far more response to my Marshall head???s EQ than my old cabinet (I use a Marshall 30th anniversary 3 channel head). Because of the straight profile the sound is very focused, which makes it perfect for home use or recording. On stage I bet it would help to keep your sound directed exactly where you want it, preventing the irritation of too much guitar noise bouncing off the walls. It handles clean sounds and distorted sounds both wonderfully, and to my ear sounds more like a vintage cabinet like those old JCM 800 cabinets Marshall made in the 1980???s. I used my humbucker equipped Fenders and my Les Paul Jr. and it sounds like gold.

The construction is rock solid. Pretty heavy too, but what 4x12 isn???t? The wheat grill is a little looser than I figured it might be, which could be a problem if you???re clumsy and snag it, but beyond that I???m sure it???ll hold up far longer than I will.

I???ve been playing for 20 of my 28 years, and I own quite a lot of gear (16 guitars for starters), plus I have my own home recording studio. I have a good ear, and I???ve played on just about everything at some point or another. I can honestly say, no BS, this is the best sounding cabinet I???ve ever played. Plus these cabs are affordable, at about $225 cheaper than a new Marshall 1960 cab. I got mine on ebay and managed to get it at a steal for a total of $229 plus shipping. Talk about a bargain. If I was in a touring band, Avatar cabs would be all I would use.

i play heavy ambient music and this cab is great for that.
i play through a sunn concert lead and a sovtek mig 60 and these speakers hold up to those heads.. so for $400 this is the best.

Sounds great. Loaded with Vintage 30's...I was playing with a bunch of different combinations for a while and ending up going with the Celestions. I'm glad I did. They sound amazing and I got it at an awesome price (Right around 500 with tax...can't remember the exact dollar amount, it was a few years ago)

You can DEFINITELY depend on Avatar design. This thing is rock solid. I was a genius and accidently left a glass of milk on the floor which my dog knocked over onto the cab. I took it apart and cleaned it up a bit, no problems whatsoever...except maybe the dog. Very sturdy, awesome construction. Yep, built to last.

I wasn't excatly sure what to get it loaded with when I first called, and Dave at Avatar is the man. VERY friendly and helpful in the decision making process. He's also replied to all of my emails within a couple of hours, and I've been dealing with these guys for a few years. It took me while to settle on everything (the metal grille, the black carpet covering, birch construction, etc) and he's always been super nice and responsive to all of my lame question. They're really cool with great prices.

Sounds great. I havent been able to push it yet, but at the levels I play, I,m completly satisfied. Awesome appearance and sound. 1st class speaker cabinet with no issues. I,ve tried it with a univalve and Budda superdrive and get what I,m looking for in both, with an appearance of cabinets costing at least twice as much. Save your money, buy an Avatar and not a name tag.

Answered emails and phone replies in 1 day. helped me make a decision as to what I wanted, based on their experience on different amps with their speakers. I,ll be ordering more, at these prices why have a 4x12 when 2 - 4x12s sound even better.

I,ve been playing for 40 years and have seen alot of equipment come and go. Whats a must have big new name item will be replaced with something bigger and newer next year, so don,t spend your money on the same cabinet with a diferent name tag. The real products stay around year after year,,Fender,, Gibson,,Marshall, and hopefully Avatar will join these names. At this price, I could,nt be happier with this product.

I reviewed this Harmony Central forum when I made my decision to buy my Avatar G412 straight cabinet with Celestion 70th Anniversary G12H30s, and I'm very happy I did! I'm running a little Marshall JCM 2000 DSL-201 (20W tube combo, with a single 12-inch Celestion Rocket 50). I play an Epiphone Les Paul Standard and I've been playing for 2 years. I explained to an experienced guitarist friend of mine that I needed a new amp, so I could be loud enough to jam with somebody. He told me that 20 (Marshall tube) watts was plenty, and all I needed was to hook up to a 4x12 extension cabinet. He was so right. And these G12H30s sound gorgeous! The relatively low power handling of the G12H30s (30 watts) was perfect for what I needed. On the clean channel they sound warm and full, especially when using both pickups. The low end is very powerful. When I switch to the Overdrive channel, with the Gain and Master Volume all the way up and add a little chorus, it really sings! Using my MXR Dime Distortion through the clean channel, the G12H30s have excellent bite and a nice edge on the high end, without sounding harsh. For classic hard rock/metal and new metal, this cabinet will do the trick. This cabinet sounds awesome!!!

I love the sound of this cabinet!!! And isn't that what it's all about? And the price was great too. Instead of having to pay $800 for a Marshall 2061CX 2x12 cabinet (this is the only Marshall cab I know of that is loaded with G12H30s), I got an Avatar 4x12 for $500. That works out to something like half the price, when you consider you're getting a 4x12 instead of a 2x12.
The only things I don't like about the cabinet are that the corner protectors are silver (instead of black, this is just a personal preference, they are durable and functional) and the grill is mounted using wood screws directly into the front baffle (I would have used T-nuts, maching screws, and rubber washers).
The only thing I wish it had is a wiring/switching setup like on the Marshall 1960 cabs (mono 4/16 ohms, stereo 8 ohms).
I would definitely buy another cabinet from Avatar! I'm already thinking about getting another 4x12 loaded with G12 Vintage 30s, for the day I get a Marshall 1987XL or THD Flexi-50 head (I haven't decided yet).
Avatar cabs are awesome!!!

Basically, i bought four Vintage 30's off of Dave from Avatar. There wasn't a section for it so i went ahead and put this comment is the 4x12 section because that's where i used the speakers, a 4x12 cab. First, i love the vintage 30's more than those g12t-75's in my marshall cab. There really is no comparison, the Vintage 30's blow them away. In conclusion, i wanted to say that i have never received such a well-packed item ever! i mean, this thing was quadruple packed!! If you have to buy speakers, buy them from Avatar. Not only are they the cheapest around but Dave knows his stuff.
