All I can say is that this cab is stunning. Mine has the Hellatone 60s, and I play it with a Bogner Shive w/ El34s. I play a Les Paul as well as a Telecaster, and both sound great through this. This cabinet is more than enough for home, practice, and gigging up to large clubs. Sounds as big as most 4x12 cabs. Recently used this in the studio, and it sounded absolutely huge when I needed it to. You simply can't get better sound for the price. I plan on picking up another one and running them as a 4x12 stack for larger gigs, and well, just because I can.

I can't judge this yet as I just got the cab, but the construction looks solid so I do not imagine I will have any issues.

Hands down the best cabinets available for the money. Yes, some boutique companies (ie Emperor) have a few more finish options, but Avatar has plenty of options to build a good looking cab to match your rig.

This is a 13 ply voidless Baltic Birch cab with interlocking side joints. It has metal corners, and recessed handles. The cabinet has rubber feet and the grill is screwed on. It has Switchcraft plugs and push on speaker connectors. The tolex (mine was orange) was flawless and matched my Mark IV perfectly. I purchased mine unloaded as I had two v-30's laying around to use. I also purchase the closed back.

Side by side with my Marshall 1936 cab. I really couldn't tell the difference. Once the new v-30's are broken in I cont think anyone could tell the difference

Looks like its build like a tank. Well constructed and the back panel was fit perfectly. It would be just as reliable as any Marshall, Mesa, or Fender cab.

If he walked on water I'd give his products a 10, but I don't believe in rating anything a 10. (there's always room for improvement) I wouldn't hesitate to buy his cabs instead of ANY major brand. On top of the quality you'd save big bucks!!! If someone stole my cabs, I hunt them down like a dog and beat them to death with the Avatar Cab. Since the cab would be relatively unharmed, Id take it back with me to the gig and use it. !!!

I play mostly Ibanez guitars, but have a EBMM Axis and two Fender HSS Strats. My amp is a Mesa 5:50 Express, which is pretty nice all by itself. I ordered this cab as a closed back unit as I wanted to add some bass response to my sound, and it more than did what I wanted. It also added even more headroom to my Mesa, as I can play it at even louder levels with no break-up at all. I couldn't ask for more, this cabinet sounds just awesome!

Beautiful! This configuration has exactly what I've been working for. Tight bass, sparkling highs that don't get spikey, and an overall musical quality that is hard to describe and even harder to find. The cabinet is not very heavy at all, and I absolutely love the tonal quality as well as quality construction.

Here's where Avatar stands out from the crowd. I have NEVER dealt with friendlier, more knowledgable, or professional people. You won't be dissapointed with support (if you ever had any issues). They are also good about helping you with what type speakers to select etc.

I've been playing for 30 years and like most guitarists been searching for 'the tone'. I have gone through various amps (Fender Deluxe, Deville, VHT Pittbull, VHT 2x10, and currently a Mesa Mark IV combo) as well as a LOT of different pedals (boutique and other) and speakers looking for the right tone. This cabinet adds a whole new dimension to my sound...it's really incredible. The Gold Alnico speakers are the bomb, and I've never tried blues but if I had a smaller wattage amp I'd definitely try those also. It's the first time I've gotten a great tone , and great definition on the high end without tearing your head off. The only negative, these speakers are expensive BUT the positive side is the folks at Avatar make putting great speakers like this into your cabinet possible because they are the most affordable quality cabinets I have ever seen.

Amp was custom built for me, 8ohm 212 oval open back cab with one Hellatone 30 (Celestion greenback aged 15 hours) and one Hellatone 60 (Celestion Vintage 30 aged 15 hours). 13 ply baltic birch plywood. Black tolex, wheat grill. Avatar has struck gold with the creation of the Hellatone. These speakers kick the shit out of the stock celestions. $300 for a 212 that sounds better than anything else on the market? What a STEAL !!!!

This thing sounds amazing. I bought and tried Bogner, Soldano, Badcat, Budda, Marshall, and Mesa cabs and was not happy with ANY of them when it came to pairing something with my Soldano HR50+. PLUS, the Avatar is 1/3 the price of most of these others. Supposed boutique amp manufactures do well with the amps, but just can't get the cabs right. I play the Soldano with no effects except a reverb unit and a Klon overdrive straight into either my Les Pauls, Fender Strat and tele's or my ESP custom tele. Everyone of them sounds great. The tone is warm and clear, great low end, perfect mids and highs, perfectly balanced. The Hellatone 30/60 combo is unmatched, and for the price, it can't be beat.

Shipping was fast and they have the best phone personalities. I can't think of a better experience buying music equipment that I have ever had before. Truly the most friendly, knowledgable, helpful group I have ever talked to. For such an inexpensive cab, I can't think of anything else I would be buying in the future. There's no reason. Avatar is where the searching stops.

I got a brand new Avatar 212 custom cabinet. Features, I have mine wired for 4 ohms, as I have a 70s (Unfortunetly CBS Silverface) Fender Bassman, also it's an open back cab (I play basement shows, and small clubs open backs spread the sound out) the speakers are two Texas Heats by eminence. user 5150 has some points, it's not a perfect cab, the handles are just cut out without sealant, I was a little shocked when i first saw it. But, there aren't very many other cabinet manufactuers that use baltic birch, especially not for the price (that's why I doubt his claim that he could make a cheaper cab himself, the baltic birch is fairly expensive, add speakers, hardware, it adds up; at least for what I paid, I could have maybe saved $10, I looked into this as an option). Marshall, Fender, Line 6, Behringer, Roland, etc. none of these guys are using baltic birch (which is the best and most expensive wood for cabs), that's where I see the value in it, mine doesn't make any wierd noises, maybe 5150 got a lemon.

I use a mexican tele, usually in the middle, sometimes on the bridge. I run it through a tube screamer and a 10 band MXR E.Q. pedal, clean channel to the bass side of the bassman and the distortion if it's on only goes to the guitar side. this thing sounds great for the price, you can't beat it with a stick, well, ya could, it's pretty durable. My musical style is hard to describe, post-hardcore meets instrumental indie rock (niche stuff, heavey, but not metal, lots of dynamics and changing directions quickly without warning) this cab suits me pretty well, I would like to try other speakers through it, but I don't have the money to buy and try speakers.

Dave answered my questions and gave me good suggestions. he was nice and replied pretty quickly. Repairs would have to be done on my end, unless maybe it was a manufacturing thing, whch doesn't appear to be so, can't screw up much on a cab. All in all, I felt very good about the transaction, pealsed with the service and the product.

I've been playing for a while, ten years or so, I don't own a lot of other gear, being poor, I'm just starting to get decent stuff, to all the poor guitar player out there, this is a good deal. Do your research, read reviews (not everyone knows what they're talking about though, not saying I do, you have to be careful though). The user review by 5150 points out some short comings of this cab, I have to agree with him, putting a little more effort in would make the product a lot better, sealing the handles, a gasket, and wood in between the speakers would be nice, but as he did, you can upgrade and put a gasket on, seal the handles, put in dapener if you want, to get exactly what you want, you're gonna have to tweak most equipment.

Closed back, 2 x 12, black tolex, black cloth grill. Loaded with Eminence Man O War speakers.
Just a basic 2 x 12 speaker cabinet. No real 'features'. However, lack of features is something to be considered. For a budget cabinet, I suppose it's hard to be picky but there are some things that I'm not very happy with. The metal on the cabinet corners, isn't properly fit to the size of the cab and tend to stick out. Very cheesy. The handles on the outside are simply cut and mounted into the side, there is no sealant or damping material to prevent this from altering the tone or seal of the cabinet. Inside, there is no damping materal at all, and the soldering on the connectors is very messy. Wire used seems to be a decent guage however. Also, there is no mounting gasket used between the speakers and the baffle.
I can't really give it a horrible rating, because it is a 'budget' cabinet and I knew there'd be some shortcomings, but there are significant 'cut corners' on the construction of this cabinet.

I run this cabinet with a 5150 120 watt head with a number of different guitars. I play mostly rock type music. The cabinet does its job, however, there is no internal damping material in the cab, it is not as airtight as it should be, and there's no wood between the two speakers (which I tend to prefer), and I find the cabinet sounds boxy and rather dull. So dull and lifeless in fact that I replaced the Eminence speakers within days of purchase thinking they were the problem. They're weren't. The problem lies in the design and construction shoddiness. At high volumes and higher gain settings the cabinet produces vibrations and odd noises that are hard to describe. I don't like it and have been making modifications on my own. Adding the internal seperation between the speakers, mounting gaskets, sealing the corners, etc... Really, after factoring in the speaker change, and the extra work. I should've bought a much better cabinet in the first place as I'd intended to do. I went for this since so many of the visitors to The Gear Page seemed to view it as a great cabinet for the price. I disagree.

The one good thing about this cabinet is that it does seem to built fairly solidly. Granted the corner protectors don't fit right and the tolex is quite thin.

The company I purchased from, Steamco Music, in Canada was quite helpful and friendly when we were discussing what I wanted and what kind of music I played. However, they did seem to be fairly lacking in knowledge of speaker types and combinations. I ended up doing a lot of explaining to them about how/what/why different speaker combinations are used, and things like that. Their line was just 'get the Hellatone's', which, unfortunately, I didn't want.
As well, when the order was done, and I'd received the cab I decided to replace the speakers almost immediately. Of course, the company was no help since it was a 'custom' cab, there are no returns or exchanges or anything. So, add on another two hundred or so for new speakers, which still didn't change the cheesy sound of this cabinet.

I've been playing for about 21 years and own a lot of different gear. I know what sounds good to my ears.
If it was stolen I would not buy another one, except maybe a used one for dirt cheap to have as something to beat around and drag to different places. Certainly not as a primary cabinet.
I 'liked' the price of it, I don't like much else about it. I suspect I could've build a better cabinet on my own for far less money.
I was considering a number of cabinets when I decided to try Avatar. Marshall, Earcandy and Custom Audio Electronics. I should've gone with Custom Audio. I chose the Avatar because of their popularity and generally good reviews. Also the price was right.

3/4 Baltic Birch ply, rabbet and dado joints, black tolex, black grill, Celestion Century and Celestion Century Vintage Speakers, metal recessed side handles, etc. 8 ohms mono. The Vintage Premium has a slanted baffle and finger-locked corners which this lacks so I'll give it an 8. However, the jury's still out as far as I'm concerned over the need for finger-locking joints on plywood. I'm sure this will hold up beautifully so I'm bringing it back up to a 9.

I use this with a Carvin Vai Legacy head with a Boss GT-6, Crybaby 535 and Digitech Whammy. My guitars are a '91 Carvin DC127 and a '94 Strat Ultra. The sounds out of this cabinet paired with these speakers is huge and full. It's certainly better than the horrible MDF 4x12 it replaced. While the speakers in that cab were good (G12k-85's)the construction of the cabinet made it sound dull, lifeless and muddy.
My amp seems like it has woken up. I've run it at near full volume with no attenuation and it made my feet tickle. This thing pushes quite a lot of air for such a small and lightweight (about 30lbs total with these speakers) package. I love it.

I've been playing for 13 years and this is one of the best purchases I've ever made. If it were lost or stolen I'd order another one as soon as the insurance money came. I can't think of anything I hate about it. In comparison to other 2x12's I've tried (Marshall, Soldano, etc) the sound is so much more clear and the thing weighs about 20 lbs less. The only thing I wish it had was a slanted baffle like the G212 Vintage Premium. However, considering I could buy the raw speakers for $321 I think this was a steal.

I got this through ebay for $179.50 with two Eminence Swamp Thangs already installed in it! It is in near-mint condition (only a little over a year old) and the reason it was so cheap is because the auction was for local pickups only. That's right folks - be jealous :-) Seriously though, this cab is beautifully, as well as professionally, constructed. I looked at it inside and out and the 3/4" birch plywood is beautiful, solid, and incredibly light. The cab is covered with quality black tolex and has a silver/Fender-style cloth grill. Also, there are two deep dish handles in the sides, metal corners, 4 big and tough rubber feet, and two speaker outputs.

I use a Laney Linebacker (these things are sweet, especially if you're on a budget) solid-state 100 watt head with this cab. I play drop-b grind/metal and this cab handles it wonderfully, and then some. It projects like it should and does not rattle (even though it is being subjected to some EXTREME low-end). Simply put: this cab sounds awesome and I love it.

Dave is THE MAN when it comes to customer service! Check this out: when I purchased the cab through ebay, it was not wired the way I wanted to and I was unsure of how to wire it the way I wanted. I decided to shoot Dave an email and, not only did he get back to me within 24 hours, he emailed me diagrams of all the possible wiring combinations I may need, as well as a short explanation of Ohm's Law. He did all this even though I HAD NOT PURCHASED THE CAB FROM HIM! Also, every other time I have contacted him, he has always responded promptly, as well as politely. Seriously, talk about going above and beyond. If I could give him an 11 for the category I definitely would!
