Bought new from Avatar in July 2008. Standard vintage-style 4x12 cab.
I'll use this rating to rate the appearance of the cab. It's beautiful and exceeds my picky standards for appearance. It's very Bogner-esque with it's black tolex/wheat grille and classy script "Avatar" white logo and piping. Absolutely a beautiful cab all the way around.

This is even better than the appearance. The sound of the Hellatone 60s are great! It's a perfect match for my Legacy head and cheaper than the Legacy cab by a long shot. The lows are loosened up (compared to stock Vin30s) and the highs are sweeter.
I use this cab with my Carvin Legacy and with any number/style of guitars into it. It's very easy to dial in great sounds with this setup.

I don't know about this yet, but the cab is solidly built. The speakers are by Celestion, so if there is trouble there, it's not Avatar's fault. I suspect this cab will be with me for a very long time.

Dave at Avatar is very nice and fast. I ordered on a Friday and it was at my home in IN on the following Tuesday. That's pretty fast! I didn't expect to see this thing arrive until about a week after I ordered. Dave gets high marks for customer service so far! I don't expect this to change.

Overall, I have to keep giving 10s. The value is great, the cab is awesome, and the service is better than expected. I highly recommend Avatar for any cab you might need. The next cab I get will be another Avatar!
Thanks, Dave!

I Just got this cabinet and the only thing I can say is that I love it! Blonde Tolex/Black Grill cloth 412 loaded with 2 Helatone 60's on top, and 2 Helatone 30's on bottom. I use a Sunn Model T re-issue head. When I plugged this cab in, it knocked my socks off. I play Hardcore/Punk/Thrash and this cab has the tone from hell. Great low end as I tune drop-C and it handles it like a dream! The only tiny critique(why I gave it a 9)-it doesn't come with casters, and this thing is heavy. No problem-I will add them myself.

I use a modded Ibanez Jet king, and a custom Tele. I'm planning on buying a Les Paul. I have faith that this cab will handle that with flying colors. It's solid as a rock and theres no woof whatsoever. The low end is nice and tight which suits me great. I like the palm muting I can get with this!

I spoke to Spencer @ Avatar, who was very helpful and knowledgable. I told him exactly what I was looking for. He gave me some suggestions, and then followed through with a great cab. What more can I say? I feel like if I called them with a problem, they would give the exact same service-which is rare. Not sure about warranty, but I'm sure it's on the website.

I've been playing for about 20 years. I've used all kinds of amps. I've had a 5150, a Mesa Mark IV, and this Sunn Model-T. I've also had their respective cabs, and the Avatar seems the best. If it were lost or stolen-I would buy another one. In fact, for the price of this I may be buying another one before long anyway. I chose it because I could get exactly what I wanted for a great price. I honestly can't say I hate anything about it. Dealing with the people at Avatar was icing on the cake. Get one and be a part of the great sound!

ordered from www.avatarspeakers.com
4x12 cab, black tolex, metal grille, 8 ohms mono.
I opted for 2 vintage 30s on top and 2 hellatone 30s on the bottom
all the info is on their website and if you are unsure of anything in the process of selecting your amp and speaker configuration email Dave. The response will be quick!!

I play mostly in the styles of the sleazy rockers like Buckcherry and Backyard Babies.
I use GMP guitars with a Custom Custom in the bridge and a 59 in the neck position.
These go straight into a Sennheiser ew 172 G2 wireless into a Planet Waves strobe tuner into a Line 6 Flextone IIHD.
I boght the line 6 simply because of its versatility and cheap price. I also was using a standard Line 6 4x12. And like everyone else was plagued with the thin "line 6 tone". After hooking up the avatar cab it is much less noticeable.
The avatars are not a cure for the thin computerized sound but a marked improvement by far!!!
With the Line 6 if you select no cab on the cab selection dial and let the speakers you have do the work you will find the tone to be much better. The Avatars simply sound like a beast.
I will be taking a step up to a Soldano Decatone in the coming months and have the utmost confidence in the Avatar cab to still sound like a million bucks.

Dave is the man. I was totally in the dark when it came to ohms and such when selecting what I wanted. I emailed him with my current amp setup and with my future plans and he emailed me back within 1 hour to give his suggestion and reasons to validate his suggestion. Extremely helpful!!!
Here is where it gets good though. I placed my order late on Sunday night July 2nd to be exact. According to the website I assumed it would be built on manday. Then tuesday was the 4th so began counting the shipping days on Wed (4-5 working days for my area of the country) So I was assuming to get it sometime around the 10th.
I received it on the 6th!!!! Hard and efficient work even during a holiday week impressed me and shows what pride they take in serving their customers to the absolute best.

I have been playing for 13 years and during those years have had some of the worst tone imaginable at times. Suckered in by companies that make promises of sound they cant deliver on.
I researched cabs for weeks tryin to decide which one I would be happiest with. I finally decided I needed to choose my speakers and such to be totallly happy. So avatar was the place to go.
I simply cannot say enough good things about my experience with avatar after only 1 week.
I am a very hard customer to deal with. Very picky when it comes to spending money. I have to fully believe in a product before I drop hear dearned cash on it. And this time was no different.
I will be an avatar player for many many years to come.
As a little note thanks to all that have reviewed avatar on this site. This site took away and worries I may have had about buying from a company I had never dealt with.

Bought from avatarspeakers.com new. 91 lbs. Black tolex. Wheat grill cloth. 4x12 - 2 Celestion Vintage 30's on top, 2 Celestion G12H30's on the bottom. 16ohm mono. 2 jacks, 1 for amp, other to daisy chain another cabinet. Metal handles. Rubber feet. Ordered with casters but I'll probably stick them on some plywood and make a roller skid/dolly. Super sturdy. No rattles. No imperfections in grill or covering.
You can order whatever speaker, wiring, grill cloth and covering combination you want.
Playing indie rock - some loud, some more ambient and spatial. It lends itself superbly to whatever you play through it.

'72 Fender Tele Custom reissue with Lindy Fralin Blues Special Pickup in the bridge, stock humbucker in the neck. Gibson Les Paul Faded Double Cutaway with stock P-90's. Amp is a Sovtek Mig 60 modified by Jeff Snider (snideramps.com). Has low and high inputs, sounds like a Marshall Plexi and then some.
Peadals - HBE Powerscreamer, Rat II, MXR Microamp, Line6 Delay Modeller.
This cabinet sounds great! In the low input of the Sovtek with the Tele, I get this great woody tone that is deep, punchy and has a nice high end sparkle and sheen.
The Les Paul in the high input has a nice thump. Nice tight and deep low end. The stock pickups are normally kind of anemic sounding (I think they actually suck and Gibson should do something about the lack of character these pickups have), but the cabinet helps make anything you play through the Sovtek sound pretty good. Harmonics jump out, and the speakers break up nicely and at a volume that is just right, not too loud or too quiet.
I've also plugged in an Ampeg V2 into it, and though it only has 4ohm or 8ohm outs and it's output power and volume were reduced, it still sounded awesome.
Also, it's cool to know that as the speakers break in, it's just going to sound better and better.

Dave at Avatar was extremely helpful. I asked if he had any extra wheat colored grill cloth around that he'd be willing to sell ro give away so I can put it on the faceplate of my amp to customize it to match the cabinet, and initially he said that everything was outsourced and they didin't have anything there, but he responded very shortly afterward and said one of his guys found a piece that was exactly the size I needed and he sent it out for free.
He's gone out of his way for me and has always been very quick to respond.
Awesome customer service.
I mailed a check and recieved the amp in about a weeks time from when I mailed it out from San Diego.

I have been playing most of my life and have played all sort of amps and cabinets - vintage, new, reissued, boutique, and this cabinet is easily as good or better than most everything out there.
At this pricepoint, there isn't anything that even comes close that I've seen out there.
Especially considering you can configure it any way that you want.
These cabinets are simply awesome!
If it were lost or stolen I'd be pretty upset and would definitely get a new one.

Bought new. 16 ohm. 4x12 - 2 Celestion Vintage 30's on top, 2 Celestion G12H30's on the bottom. Black Tolex. Wheat grill cloth. Extra jack on back to daisy chain multiple cabinets. Weighs in at about 91 lbs. Sturdy handles. Rubber feet. I ordered the casters that I'll probably throw on some plywood to make a cart/dolly.
The build quality is excellent. No flaws. No rattles. Super sturdy. Looks great. It looks as though it may not be as deep as a typical Marshall style cab. It's straight faced and I prefer that over an angled cab. Avatar will let you throw in any number of speaker of combinations wire it any way you want it and Dave at Avatar was quick to reply to questions. It shipped to me in about a week.

Sovtek Mig 60 head modded by Jeff Snider (http://snideramps.com/), sounds like a Plexi and then some.
72' Tele Custom Reissue with a Fralin Blues Special pickup in the bridge, stock humbucker, Glendale Guitars magnetic double notch bridge plate and brass intone saddles.
Gibson Les Paul faded double cutaway with stock P-90's.
HBE Powerscreamer, MXR Microamp, Rat II, Line 6 Delay Modeler. Play indie rock. Some loud, some more ambient and quieter.
The sound is deep, clear, articulate, and has a nice sparkle and sheen on the high end. It gets great lows from the G12H30's and nice mids and highs from the Vintage 30's. It was everything I was looking for and a perfect match for the Sovtek. My previous cabinet was a Mesa DC vertical 2x12 and it didn't do the head justice at all. It sounded really bad, actually. But this cabinet is great. With the Tele bridge pickup it sounds nice and woody with the Fralin, rich harmonics and overtones just pour out of it, and there's that nice lower midrange thump that you can feel in your chest. The amp has a Low and High input and the cabinet sounds great no matter what you throw at it.
I have an Ampeg V2 on loan loaded with new KT88's, and though it only runs at 4 or 8 ohms and isn't pushing out as much volume as it's capable of, it sounds awesome too.
Pretty versatile so far.

When it comes down to it, at this price point, nothing even comes close to what I've seen out there.

Black tolex, wheat grill, two V30's on top, 2 G12H30's below, 8 Ohm, rubber feet, handles. Not a 10, because the handles are placed a bit too high. But that's the only thing you could remotely consider to be a minus about these great cabs.

This cab is amazing. I have always used Celestion speakers and now I regret not switching over to Eminence sooner. I run a THD Bivalve through it and sound is awesome. The combination of the speakers gives me a very full range. I get great highs and wonderful CLEAR lows; no muddiness at all. The midrange is perfect, not to much not to little. I have to say this by far is the nicest cab I have ever owned. I actually sold my Mesa Recto Cab after playing through my Avatar. The sound is just incredible. The only cab that is close is Bogner's Uber cabinet, but then again an Uber cab is $1100 and the Avatar is $400. Not much of a comparison there. I would recommend this cab to anyone.

Give Dave a call and he'll help you pick one out. Check them out at www.avatarspeakers.com Also check their scrathch, dent, and overstock page, there is always great deals there.

It's a 2005. G412 Custom straight front.
It's VERY suitable for Rock/Blues AND...... Metal Baby, Not Poison, Warrant, or Bon Jovi. I'm talkin' Zakk, Dime, Slash.
Even though you really can play just about anything with the right amp. I use a modded Peavey XXX 120 watt head. Thats my prefference.
Mine is a 4x12 16 ohm with Hellatone 60L's
The Hellatones are 60 watt v-30's that are "broken in" a little.
They have a different voice coil and cone and have a tad more bass and less "shrill" highs.
Mine is covered in carpet with stackable corners and a metal grill.
The carpet is 10 times more durable than tolex and the metal grill is obviously better than cloth.
I only give it a 9 cause it don't come with casters.

As I mentioned earlier, I use a Modded XXX head.
I play Gibson SG's with Duncan JB/Jazz pickup combination.
I'm in a cover band that plays mostly classic/southern rock and 90's to present stuff. STP, Pearl Jam, Creed, Godsmack...
I gig regularly and take my sound very seriously.
Before this cab I had a 5150 cab (well built) with Vintage 30's in it. This cab Is SSSSSOOOO much tighter and is everything Avatar says.
There is ZERO MUD! I really can't remember when I was so Happy with my rig. I don't use alot of effects, only on a couple songs. I like a straight forward sound.
My other guitarist has a JCM 900 1/2 stack w/ a 1960 B cab and this Avatar absolutely PUNISHES it. I'm saying that is when I put the xxx on the Marshall cab. The Marshall head w/the Marshall cab sound great in its own right, it's totally different than the XXX, just not my style.
This thing sounds sweet! and for less than $500.00 delivered. You can't lose.

I wish Avatar had a bigger advertising budget. But then they would probably cost more... Everyone should be able to check them out. They are the best kept secret in speakers and cabs.
They are extremely customer orientated and actually care about your needs and concernes.
I found them on ebay years ago and now I deal with them direct.
If I was to catch a break and became an arena touring act (yeah right) I would still use Avatar Cabs in my backline...

I've been playing for a long time. I've owned TONS of gear. As far as cabs go I've had just about everything from 212 open back to the oversize Recto and Mode 4 cabs, and even custom made cabs.
I don't exactly have $$$ falling out of my A$$, but I really could have any cab I want, and I choose the Avatar.
The Avatar ain't flashy at all and some people turn their noses up to the carpet but I could care less. It's all about the sound.
I wish it came with casters, but thats easy enough to fix.
For the $$$ You can't beat it!

I use Epiphone Les Paul's with stock pickups, going through Crate GlX1200H head (this will be upgraded soon, but ya gotta start somewhere!). I used to be using this head through the matching Crate 4x12 cab, and wow, what a difference. First thing, this cab is WAY louder than my crate, instead of having the volume at 8, it's now at 4, and plenty loud. The low end is exceptionally better than my crate, probably because of those Swamp Thangs. Even the highs are just crystal clear. The sound is so much more musical than my Crate, sounds less like a toy. I can only imagine how sweet this is going to sound in 3 weeks when I plug my new Peavey JSX head into this beast of a cab.

I haven't had to opportunity to experience all the sounds and tones out there yet, but I can already tell this cab has a place in my guitar-playing future. I can't wait to plug a new tube head into it, probably the Peavey JSX head, my rigg will be complete! Buy Avatar cabs! Don't pay an extra 300-400$ for a name (marshall, mesa).

If this was stolen or lost, I would first find the person who took it, and kick their ass. I would buy another one, if anything I did, damaged this Cab. I just want everyone to enjoy a Guitar Cabinet for under $450, and it's built just if not better than most of the Big Brand Namers. Do yourself a favor, and go to www.avatarspeakers.com and order yourself a G412 Custom Cabinet, you pick the color of Tolex, Grill, Speakers, Ohms, Stereo/Mono, configuration of Speakers, it's just too good to be true. But it's true. I am telling you, I know what I'm talking about and this is the one! I will A/B this with any other Cabinet, now I have all Fender like speakers, because that's what sound I like. But I would take the Challenge anyday. I just want to spread the word, that you don't have to drop over $1,500 to get a Quality Cabinet, just for the name! Peace and remember!
