Cool little amp. Has two channels, channel 1 is clean and is only controled by one volume knob. It would be great if the bass and treble controls were used on this as well and channel two. Channel two has gain, bass, treble and Master volume. Channel switching is only done by the foot switch. Has a line out for an additional cabinet and an impedence selector. Doesn't have reverb which would be great but I don't think they could fit it in the cabinet.

Sound Quality : 10
Great sounding amp. Great great blues sounds with single coil pickups and great overdriven sounds with humbuckers. The clean channel is not what this amp is made for. If you want clean get a fender deluxe. This is a great little amp and the sound is fantastic. For being only 7.5 watts it is pretty loud and it could definetly keep up in a live situation.

Reliability : 10
The build of this amp is incredible. No wonder Bad Cat amps cost som much. The cabinet is made of solid woods and is built like a tank. I can see this amp lasting a lifetime.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Have never dealt with them.

Overall Rating : 9
This is a great amp but it is definetly not a do every thing amp. If you are only buying one amp this is not the one. The clean channel is not it's strong suit. If you are looking for great tone in a small package this is a winner.

This is a new model for 2006.

1 x 12" Celestion speaker combo. 7 watts 2 x EL84.

2 channels. Channel 1 = one volume knob; Channel 2 = gain, bass, treble, master. Channels changeable only with footswitch. No channel indicator light on amp or footswitch.

Impedence selector 4, 8, 16. Line out jack.

Sound Quality : 7
Channel one is limited due to the single volume control, but ranges from thin cleans with a CS CP Strat to solid crunch with a R9 LP with Classic '57s.

Channel two is high gain and quite a departure fomr channel one. It lacks a bit of bass even with the 12" speaker. The treble knob can get schrill above 2:00.

The speaker looks like a Vintage 30, but when compared to an actual V30 in a small 1x12 open back enclosure, the OEM speaker lacks bass and fullness and has biting highs. This might be due to the small combo enclosure, but not sure.

Poor! Amp didnt make it through first rehearsal. Amp suddenly became very quiet. James, the owner, at Bad Cat acknowledged a bad batch of caps.

He wanted me to solder in a new one that whe would send me, however the location of the cap was too tight for my mediocre soldering skills. I really didnt want to be soldering on my brand new, expensive, 'quality' built amp and fixing it with my elementary, non-quality soldering and risk cold solder joint failure in the future or overheat some other component while soldering etc...

James offerd to send a call tag to pick the amp up. After several days the amp had not been picked up and I finally had to call and arrange the Fed Ex pickup myself. Discovered Bad Cat had arranged for slow ground shipping.

James told me he would fix the amp ASAP and send it back to me within a day or two at most. After a couple weeks I ended up calling Bad Cat and because of no answer leaving numerous messages for James or anyone to let me know what was goin on withthe amp. At one point I finally reached James and he told me the amp was fixed and on its way back. It didn't show up for another two weeks and my calls to Bad Cat during this time went unreturned. From when I sent it in to when it Finally arrived back via slow ground shipping was SEVEN WEEKS!

When I spoke with James I had asked if they could possibly install a channel indicator light and/or a switch to be able to change channels on the amp without the footswitch- James said each of the mods would cost me over $100.

I had included a note when I sent the amp in asking for some swag (t-shirt or some spare tubes) for the trouble of having to box the amp up and ship it. When the amp finally arrived back to me Seven Weeks later; no swag, no note, no nothing.

I have been playing for 20 years in several classic rock bands.

I use a PRS Custom 24, a R9 Les Paul, and a CS Classic Player Strat.

I have had Mesas, Marshalls, Fenders, Kendrick, Ampegs, Carvin, Riveras, and my favorite, Dr. Z.

I bought the Alley Cat as a grab and go versitile amp. I had been considering other Bad Cat amps in the future for main gig amps, but would now avoid them based on their customer service. I understand anyone can have a bad batch of caps slip through quality control, but there is no excuse for service this poor on a premium boutique amp (expensive for a 7w practice amp).
