Bad Cat Cub 15 210 Combo

This review is for a mid 2001 production Cub 15 watt 2X10 combo. If you rate an amplifier by number of knobs, this one would rate low, as it only has; Vol., trb, bass, and master knobs. If you rate an amp by its ability to do a specific job, or many different jobs, that where this amp shines.

The cub is a class A, single channel, pure tube, true point-to-point, 15watt tone machine.

This amp is small enough for bedroom use, light enough (sorta, 50 lbs.) to be an urban street fighter (for larger venues it has a line out, or can be mic'ed).

I play an american strat with noiseless pick-ups mainly. I play a wide range of styles, but mostly Texas influenced electric blues styles. This amp gives me the sound I have searching for.

This is the one of the quietest class A amp I have ever played.

The Bad Cat cub has the ability to let you literally sculpt your own sound, the volume (pre amp power level)at lower levels gives you a wide variety of amazing cleans (w/master maxed), and gives a wide variety of saturated to overdriven distortion. Note: useable distortion not some harsh B.S. other boutique mfg's try to put off on you. the treble and bass controls are interactive and extremely usefull (you will think your guitar has sprouted pick-ups).

Now for the good part, the cub 15 210 adds a remarkable rich musical quality to its class A singing sustain properties by using a pair of custom made miss matched celestion speakers (almost a chorousie-sterioish type of quality). Reverb is not needed with this amp.

Another quality of this amp is its ability to produce great sound (clean or distorted) at volume levels that want make your ears bleed.

Judging by the way this amp is built, I don't think it'll give my great, great, greatgrandchildren any problems, seriously, this is the best built consumer electronic device I have ever seen PERIOD.

I have heard the the Bad Cat Cats take care of their own and will get in touch with them if that situation arrises.

I have been playing almost forty years now. I have gone through a lot of gear. Now I use one strat, one tele, and one amp.

If lost or stolen I wouldn't be able to function until I got another Bad Cat.

I have been on a quest for quality tone for years. I didn't want a fifty year old amp. I thought I wanted DrZ MAZ SR until I ordered one, waited for it, got it, and then listened to CB radios on it, took it back and lucked onto a Bad Cat, I am so glad I had a bad Z experience. What I learned is that you get what you pay for.

This review is for the Cub 15 210 nr model Bad Cat. Mine is a 2001 model. This is the most versitile class A amp I have ever played. Features are; Vol, Bass, Treble, and Master. This amp is so musical that I do not miss reverb. This amp has ended my five year quest for tone (no kidding). The features this amp has over other manufactures are tone and premium build quality. This is a true point to point constucted amp that is built to last and be reliable.

I use a stat and a tele. I play an eclectic variety of music. This amp will give you the greatest clean and the best overdiven EL84 tube sound I have heard to date. I purchased this amp after a bad experience with a Dr Z MAZ SR (I live in a town where CB radios are still popular).

This amp is quiet. It achieves useable break-up at reasonable volume levels, making this the best recording amp I have ever used.

I got this amp used, it looks like it has been gigged with, but due to the way this amp is built I am extremly confident with it. I only carry spare tubes, fuses, and stings.

Never dealt with them, probably will never have to.

IF you want the best sounding, best built amp, this is it period.
