Everthing is already said about features for knobs. I think the main feature of this amp is the tone. It is just unbelieveable.
The tone and cut knobs are very interactive and accurate.
This is the way a guitar amp is suppose to work and sound,

Sound just fanatastic tone. been playing for 20 years and not much compares, except vintage stuff. maybe cause they used to build amps like bad cat presently builds them. only down side if you show up at a jam session everyone will want to try your amp it sounds that good.

It is an expensive amp but i would buy another for twice the price.
You will never want to plug into another amp again. My marshall tsl and fender deluxe reverb sit in the corner waiting to be sold.
If you are into tone you can stop, here it is.

I find this amp versatile...maybe others would not. I have gigged this amp with a drummer who is known for being loud, and I was happy.I don't care for the lit logo and bought this amp (used) based on its sound and could definitely do without that appointment/advertisement. Great usable range EQ'ing, nice reverb, input sensitivity is unreal....one of the tube sheath things is quite loose and the cool gold grillcloth flops when the speaker is pushed hard. But the covering feels real nice and the rest of the amp is well built.

I'm not sure why this amp sounds so good, just that it really sounds wonderful and I have a blast playing through it.I have not had to turn it up past 4 in any of my live situations, which is good as it does not seem to get much louder after 5,just spongier...and it made me feel better about my guitars and my playing, which was an unexpected bonus. I get good rootsy tones and can coax a righteous metal sound with any of my pedals( Klon,TS9,OD1),which is hard to believe,I'll bet.I was surprised and I will likely not even use that sound live, but the fact it's there is so cool. The cut and tone pots are superb and have a wide range of useful, inspiring tones.Backing off of the input by dialling back my guitars volume pot,or changing my picking has really been all I've needed so far

I hope so...I have been using NOS tubes so I reaaally hope they prove reliable...I have been lucky as far as tube failures when using Chinese or Russian or whatever garden variety tubes were at the local stores. I am assuming that the dudes behind this company are talented and put their hearts into this line of amps,so I don't anticipate any problems.

Somebody talked to me on the phone(returned a message I had left) and were very helpful in locating a buzz.He suggested I move the chassis using a simple adjustment and it worked perfectly. Hard to be critical of that and I hope I don't have to ask for anymore help..

I love its sounds,I love the way it caves in or blooms when I vary my picking and the way the top end is voiced is the best I've ever had in any of my previous amps, but its also the most expensive piece of gear I have ever owned...as soon as I played it for 30 seconds I knew it would be a great amp for me.A really good match for the Heinz 57 mishmash that passes for my style and it makes me look forward to playing through it for a long time. That's a big compliment and I would not be surprised if I am still enjoying its goofy lit up logo( I gotta pull those bulbs) and beautiful el84 tone for the rest of my "career"....what an amp !!!

update from earlier submission. 6 months of constant hard use finally brought on the first problem. 1 bad power tube. Replaced both on stage during a long drum solo. No bias needed, just matched tubes. Cranked her up and let them warm for a couple minutes and was back in with the band for the next verse. That's what I call a money saving device!! Plus the 84s are cheap tubes even for the good ones.

Not a lot of features, but with the quality and style of this amp it is an experienced players amp. The cut knob and by-pass tone circuit are the most usefull for myself. This amp has very sensitive controls.

Sound quality is totally awsome. Very touch sensitive. The only equal I would say is a Dr. Z. I have owned both and have used both to play live with. This bad cat cuts extremely well live, excellent tonal quality, very sound. ( I have had this amp about 6 months now and have ran it every weekend so that this review would be more accurate.

The cool leather handle had stiching coming out of it. I told my dealer and within 2 weeks I had a replacement for free. Very Good. I have ordered a cover and I am still waiting for this. This is where they could improve. It should come with a cover even if it cost more it would be worth it......

I have been playing since I was 6 yrs old. Pro since I was 13. I am know 44. I have had a wide variety of equipment and pretty much all of the top names, too many to mention. I play rock and sit in with a new country band. This amp is perfect for my playing. The only amp that I would consider is a Dr. Z. They are extremely good as well. As with any amp that you purchase try it for yourself and let your ears be your guide. For my money, this is one of the best amps on the market right now. The amp is not cheap, but you get what you pay for...........

2001 Cub 15R. Best amp built in the World. Period. Way more versital than the original Matchless Lightning 15. Why should I buy a Bad Cat instead of a Matchless? Because you can make your Bad Cat sound JUST like a Matchless, but you can't make a Matchless sound like a Bad Cat!

Clean sounds are awesome. Dirty sounds are the best out there by far. I still prefer running my Tube Screamer or Black Box through the amp for distortion, but the amps natural break and distortion is geat and usefull in many applications. I also own the new Marshall JCM 2000/401 with EL-84's. It's a great studio amp but lacks the power and low end needed for playing most clubs with 200+ people up front. The Bad Cat has low end and power to spare. I tried running my Marshall cranked on stage, +10 bass. Not enough. The break was like paper blowing in the wind. I have the Bad Cat set on bass +5 or +6, at half the volume! I'm not knocking Marshall's, they just don't compete with Bad Cat. If you only have $900 to spare the Marshsall EL-84 is a good choice. I play original Pop/Rock music with Fender American Telecasters and Stratocasters. Check out www.boneshakersband.com

I own a 1996 Fender Blues Deluxe that has been spilled on, spit on, dropped off a truck, tipped over on stage, you name it. Will the Bad Cat be as roadworthy. Can't say yet. But I'll let you know. Matthew Sweet said he has been touring with his Cub 15R for a year without a problem. Good enough for me.

I called Bad Cat the other day with a simple question. Though I might get some kid on the phone with a highlighted owners manual. Know what I mean. Mark Sampson answered the phone! Are you @##$$ me! I got to talk to the guy who actually dreamed up the amp design in his head. +++10 on customer service!!!!!

This is your last amp not your first. If you have done time driving around in a crappy van, touring your area, chasing your dream, then this amp is for you. It would be an injustice for a lesser player to plug into one of these amps. It was hard to spend the money when there are a lot of great Fender and Marshall amps out there for half the price, but I don't regret it for a single minute. Thanks Bad Cat. I know you could make a lot more money selling half grade amps, but guys like me admire what you do. Your the best. Period.

For 15w tons of headroom and extremely clean all the way through. Nice breakup when pushed with a humbucker. Loves teles. Makes strats sound better than you thought possible. Very quiet on the humbuckers, a touch of noise on the single coils but that is what they do. Blues and country players get in line. Heavy metal guys just grab a TS9 and a Peavey and go away. May not have enough power if you are a hard rocker. If you need to make ears bleed get the Hot Cat 30w. Mike this thing and you won't look back.

35 years with a guitar in my hand. I've had them all. Spent too much money over the years on cheap amps that no matter what you do they sounded like crap. I hit one note through one of these and that was it! Nothing compares. Rivera is nice but can be tinny. Fender has sucked for 20 years except for stuff that is too heavy or way too expensive. PC Boards are for suckers. Mesa, Marshall, Bogner, Soldano all have only one soundthey do well. I would definiteley buy another if this leaves. This is the last amp I need to buy.

Great sounding amp. Iv'e had it a little over a year now.I mic it through the pa.In my band we try to keep the stage volume down and
the cub works great for that.I gig alot, and with this amp I've never
felt the need for a backup. Just spare tubes. I always recomend getting a road case for any amp and have one for my cub. but this amp
is built so well, I'm sure it would survive without it. I always get
alot of complements about my tone. You can't get a bad tone out of this amp.

I switch back and forth from a Les paul to a Strat and sometimes a tele.I play alot of classic rock gigs and use a pedal board. Sometimes
just a digitec rp3.I rarely use the Preamp for overdrive as the music
dictates quick changes but in a studio setting I have had great success with it. It won't do nu-metal over the top stuff, but I don't
play that. When switching from Les paul to Strat, I just reach back and
back off the treble a notch. Sometimes, with a Strat, I'll bump up the
preamp a little for that barely breaking up sound (think Walter becker)

I've been playing 36 years. My other amps are 50 wt. Marshall, 56' fender tweed deluxe and Mesa-boogie SOB combo.
If it were stolen,I would cry, and then I would go buy another one.
As I tell all my guitar buddies,to get great tone, you have to start with a good tube amp.All the pedals in the world won't help if they're
plugged into a crappy amp. My Badcat is the best sounding amp I've ever played through.
