Features : 8
I rate this amp a 8 because it has some great features on the clean and gain channel that really enable you to dial in your tone. The 5 way rotary mid sweep control on the gain channel is awesome. It really enabled me to dial into the perfect tone needed to cut through when playing live. The only challenge I have with the features on my Bad Cat Lynx is that it has no effect send/return or reverb....However, those are options that you can order with your Bad Cat if you choose. At the time i wasn't thinking clearly and didn't order it. I will be adding it soon.

One of my favorite features of the Bad Cat Lynx is the ability to play with both the clean channel and gain channel on at the same time. If you ever played the sparkle drive pedal this is same effect. It's a amazing.

Sound Quality : 10
I use this amp with a 79 Washburn Falcon, 52 Telecaster Hot Rod, and a custom guitar with Seymour Duncan SH-55 pickups. It sounds amazing! By simply changing guitars I can achieve the tone i'm going for. I run the head through a Bad Cat 4x12 cab. The speakers used in all Bad Cat amps are made by Celestion in the UK. The best way to describe the sound is "HUGE". The clean channel is crisp and warm at the same time and the gain channel produces such a dynamic tone that breathes and blends perfect in live applications.

Reliability : 10
I've only had the amp for a short but i've had no issues.

Customer Support : 10
I've had great success in communicating with the staff at Bad Cat. They are a sincere group of folks who care about their customers.

Overall Rating : 9
Overall the tones and quality of the amp is a perfect 10. The only reason I scored it a 9 was because i didn't have an effects loop or reverb built into it.

Ordered brand new -- (made in late 2008 I believe) Bad Cat Lynx head. It's 50 watts (2xEl34), two channels (clean and dirt), half power switch, low end voice switch, 5 way rotary tone control (ch 1), and a 5 way rotary mid sweep control (ch 2). Footswitch switches channels and can be used to blend both. No loop. Not hugely versatile but some nice features. Great amp for rock and hard rock.

Sound Quality : 10
I mainly use this amp with humbucker equipped guits, but a Tele sounds damn good through it too. Beautifully made,..ordered mine in silver sparkle w/a matching 2x12 cab. Overall the amp is pretty quite. Clean channel is super nice (like on all Bad Cat amps) sort of Twin-ish, plenty of head room for loud cleans. Running in half power lowers the vol and head room, so when you crank up the master it breaks up earlier -- with a Tele or Strat, on the neck position and hitting it with a boost you can get some great overdriven tones,....dare I say in the ball park of SRV. The 5-pos rotary tone swtich is great for shaping your sound depending on the guitar/pickup combo you use. Like I said in the features section, this amp is a rock/hard rock amp -- fantastic hot-rodded Marshall inspired tones. Cuts beautifully in a band mix, great crunch and clarity. The tone as a lot of authority to it. In 1/2 power mode it it definitely cuts the volume (which can be useful) but the tone compress more and loses some punch, but still very nice. The 5-pos mid sweep is great for adding upper mid freqs to tailor your gain tone, and the bass voice switch keeps the low end "classic" or more modern (increased). While this amp could be used for metal tones, I'd say it's probably not the best choice when you consider today's standard for "brootalz" tone. It's very loud and sounds best this way. For my taste, this amp flat out gets the highest marks for quality of tone.

So far so good. I've owned it for 4 months now and no issues.

I've spoke with James @Bad Cat a few times. Very nice guy, but he's really difficult to get a hold of, and response time is slow. He did replace my 2x12 cab very quickly after the rubber stops on the bottom of my head stained the sparkle tolex. So he scores points for that.

Overall Rating : 9
So, after 4 months, using it for several rehearsals and gigs I have to say I'm very impressed. Love the quality of the tone, it's simplicity and stunning, pimped out looks. It's both functional/utilitarian (gets the job done) and inspiring at the same time. I see myself using quite a bit in the future. Can't wait to use it in the studio. Nice job Bad Cat.
