Everything you could possibly ask for. EL84's for british clean and EL34's for high gain with channel switching. You also have the ability to use both channels at the same time to get some pretty interesting sounds. Solid state rectifier switch which can be usefull, as well as tons of eq'ing knobs for perfect dialing in of your tone.

Sound Quality : 10
Just the bomb if you plug in a strat. Works great with a les paul and humbuckers. The best amp I have ever played to give me both jazz cleans and impecable mid to gigh gains. Bye Bye to all my old Boogies here comes my replacement and better made Bat Cat's. I hate the fact that my strats sounded like crap through my Boogie's. This amp welcomes a single coil- and just screams! The controls are sooo sensitive and give you so much flexibility to dial in so many diferent sounds.

Reliability : 10
Made like a tank, don't see having any problems. I have quite a few hours on it so far and have had no problems. Mind is however a 2007 and has had the 2 revisions on it according to James. I can tell as he told me if it has 2 tubes in the chassis this would be the last mod which I think he said was for the effects loop.

Called James and he took my call, nice guy.

Overall Rating : 10
Absolutely the best amo I have ever had. Will definitely have James build me another one if it goes missing! They are not on his web site anymore but he mentioned he will still build them as part of his custom models.

2007, Versatile enough to cover all styles: jazz, fusion, rock, blues, classic rock, and country. 2 Channels with channel switching and the ability to combine tubes. You can use EL 84's for clean or dirty, and EL 34's for clean or dirty, but never both at the same time. I wish it had a speaker phase reverse switch, and a half power switch. I use all features. I use this amp at home, studio, and gigs. More than enough power for my applications. I match the head with a Bad Cat 2x12 Cabinet. All tube amp with the option of running a solid state rectifier.

Sound Quality : 10
This amp does it all. It covers all styles. It is like having Eric Johnson, Stevie Ray Vaughn, The Beatles, AC/DC, Larry Carlton, Peter Bernstein, etc. in a box. The clean channel has a smooth transition from sparkly clean to crazy overdrive. The Distortion is equally as brutal as the Hot Cat, and maybe even meaner as it rips peoples faces off. I use a Godin LGX Signature with Duncan Humbuckers, A Fender Squire Strat with three Duncan Rails, and A hand Made American Collectors Archtop by Dale Unger with a floating kent armstrong pickup. This guitar suits my styles perfect for jazz, fusion, rock gigs, or studio gigs. As quiet as a tube amp can be, runs on a dual fan system, so it sounds like a DC-10 Jet when you power up.

Reliability : No Opinion
Bad Cat's as you all know are very dependable. Never a good idea to play a gig without a guitar or amplifier backup. That being said I do it all the time and will with the Bad Cat.

The guy's that run the company are very helpful if you ever get to talk to them. They usually do not return calls worth a shit. Call Heath at Boston Guitar Works, he knows his stuff. The authorized service center for my amp is the place I bought the amp at, so that is cool. Not sure how long the warranty is, but I would guess a good stretch of time on quality and workmanship.

I have been playing for 20 yrs. Have an undergraduate degree in music education and guitar performance, and am finishing a master's degree in guitar performance. I do studio work, teach lessons, and perform for a living. I have owned most every bit of gear in existance. Bad Cats are the best amps hands down. That is subjective of course. If it were stolen I would whoop somebody's ass good and take it back, or just buy it again. That being said you get what you pay for, and this amp is almost as expensive as my Buick Park Avenue. I love so much about this amp, especially the ability to use the different power tubes on each channel, cooler than shit. I compared this to the Hot Cat 30R, Classic Cat, Panther, Cub, Alley Cat, and Mini Cat. Hand's down the most versatile tube amp that exists. I would like to share this: Buy one of these. You will never have the ultimate tone until you do. You can play so-so guitars but you gotta plug em into an amp that pours liquid tone.
