I have a Ultra acoustic ACX-900. This amp is made in China and the date of manufacturing is October 2006. This is a very versatile acoustic guitar amplifier with vocal channel as well. It is a pure 90 watt stereo amplifier with lot of useful and brillant features. I play everything on it like Rock, popular, country music and it handles everything just perfect. It is a very well made amplifier so beautiful and attractive. It has two channels each one is 45 watts power output. You can connect two instruments and on microphone with it. Both channels have effects like reverb, chorus, tremolo, flanger, delay, phaser. It has tremendous features and it has left nothing to be desired. I use this amp for home and small live performances. It has enough power to handle small to medium live shows.

Sound Quality : 10
This amp is capable of produceing anything from bright and crispy to punchy and rich acoustic sounds. It clean channel stays clean even at high volume. I am using Ovation CS-257 electric acoustic guitar and also a Fender 12 string guitar with Seymour Duncan Woody single coil pickup. It is an very quiet and does not make any noise. I have noticed a slight hum from the amp while using modulation effects. The overall sound quality of this amp is fantastic and I love it.

Reliability : 10
This is a very solid amplifier. If anyone sees it he would not believe that this amp is just costing 350 US$. The finish, design and reliability is excellent.

Customer Support : 10
Behringer customer support team is excellent. I happenned to deal with them and they proved extremely helpful and kind.

I have been playing guitar for the last 27 years. If this amp is stolen I would cry and report to police station to recover it. If all this efforts become useless then I will buy the same one again. I love every part of this amp and do not see anything to get hate about it. I compare it with Marshall, Fender acoustic amps and this is the best as far as sound quality, price, design and build quality is concerned. I choose it because it has too much good things with unbelieveable price. I wish it would have a provided dust cover. My email address: khjodat@mastertex.com

This amp was made in 2005, and as far as I see, this ist everything I need to amplify my acoustic guitars. You can plug in wo instruments or one instrument and a vocal mic, so it is perfect for a solo club gig.
There 99 programs with different sound features. No'w I've found some sounds e.g. to copy the sound of Eva Cassidy or Eric Clapton unplugged.
I use this amp for solo gigs in bars. It is loud enough to figth the noise in a coffeeshop.

Sound Quality : 9
I'm using piezo pickups on all guitars. These are a gibson Jumbo, a Morris-F15 and a guitar i build on my own.
Mostly I play Fingerstyle, and here the attack features are very helpfull.

Reliability : 8
I use it without backup. I don't know about reliability, because the amp is brand new.

Yes, i would buy another one, if this was stolen. Only negativ thing, this amp is heavy - about 30 kg.

I've owned this amp since Jan. 2003. I play in restaurants, private parties (indoor and outdoor) and live band situations. This amp has 2 channels with seperate effects for each channel adjustable for each channel. I've used every feature this amp has at one time or another and the amp has more features than any other acoustic amp I've ever seen. I'd give this amp a 9 1/2 - the 1/2 off because it's a little underpowered for live band situations. And this is a petty gripe since you can go direct from the amp to the PA and hear yourself in the monitors. In my acoustic duo, I use a mixer for the vocals into the mic channel and use the instrument channel for the guitars. Very versatile amp.

Sound Quality : 10
I currently have 4 Guilds - F50R, DCE5, D412, F4CE. I've also gone through an Alvarez MD90, a Martin D18-12, and a Yairi DY-71 since I've owned this amp. All except two of the Guilds (which have Fishman systems built in) have Dean Markley Sweet Spot pickups installed. These have really high gain (no batteries) and sound great - even when strumming very hard. In 3 different projects, 60's cover band, acoustic duo, and hard driving new country band, this amp has every sound I've needed and always sounds good. It will distort (a little, just a little) if you clip the instrument channel - just back it off and turn up the the master volume. With the tilt legs, I've also used it as a floor monitor. Great vocal sound. No noise at all. Maybe I just got lucky but this thing just keeps on pumping out the sound. I've tried almost every acoustic amp out there, Fishman, AER, Roland, Yorkville, Crate, SWR, Marshall and none of them sound better - at least not enough to warrant the added expense. Also, I bite my nails and the attack control on 6 or 7 make it sound like I'm using fingerpicks - my favorite effect on the amp. I just purchased a Fishman Loudbox, just for the added live band volume - it sounds a little thinner, the bass isn't as deep as the Behringer. And vocals do not sound good through the Fishman. But it is loud as hell.

Reliability : 10
As I've said, I've been using this several times a week for 3 1/2 years. I had one for 1 week before this one and blew the tweeter using it as a vocal monitor in a 6 piece band - all 6 voices at once and boom!- tweeter blown. Sent it back, store gave me another one right away. And the first one was quiet too. I've never had to contact Behringer but since I had such good luck with this amp I've purchased many Behringer products - power amps (3), subwoofers, mixers (3), effects processers, and none have let me down, ever.

Customer Support : 9
Again, never had to deal with Behringer. At these prices and reliability I could deal with spotty customer service. The warranty is one year, and American Musical gave me another one. I'll give them the benefit of the doubt on customer support.

Overall Rating : 10
I've been a musician for 30 years - mostly as a drummer but the last 10 years as both a guitar player and a drummer. If this amp were stolen (how can you lose an amp?) I would absolutely get another one. The versatility is unbeatable. Behringer has just come out with a more powerful acoustic amp but it doesn't have the features. When I need to be really loud I'll use the Fishman but for everything else this is my first choice. Use a quality rosewood guitar through this amp, play with the controls, and you'll melt like butter at the sound - especially finger style.

One last update to my previous two reviews. I finally figured out how to make this thing cut through the mix. if you run a mic cord out of the back and into one of the channels on the PA, you'll have all the volume you need. And it sounds great that way! It's held up well after nine months of regular use. The more I use it the better I like it! Well worth the money.

This is an update of my previous review. I've now had this amp for around 6 months. It has held up well and the more I play it the better it sounds. I used it one night with a band, and it completely got lost in the noise (and we weren't even terribly loud). It would make a great coffee house amp/solo singer-guitarist amp. So far I think it is well worth the money.

Okay- I just got this amp yesterday. Based on previous reviews, I'll either love it or hate it in a month, assuming it hasn't broken down yet. So I'll start with an initial impression, and check back in a month.

I decided to get an amp after playing my friend's Yorkville one night a few weeks ago- I was impressed with how good my guitar sounded compared to playing it through my Mackie PA (808M with Yamaha 115 speakers). So I checked out the same Yorkville amp, and realized I didn't want to spend nearly $600 dollars on an amp without any effects on the mic channel. I looked at the Behringer, and of course it was the cheapest available- I got it from Zzounds for $299- the same as all the other internet music places. I knew I was taking a risk, but figured if it was as good as some reviewers said it would be a deal. If it was as bad as other reviewers said, at least I would only be out 3 bills.

The features have been well described by others. I've had about 2 hours to play it- mainly through my Ibanez AEF30 acoustic-electric, but also tried my Fender 12-string acoustic-electric as well as a 25 year old Ovation Balladeer with a cheap Seymour Duncan Woodie soundhole insert pickup as well as with a 2004 Fender HSS strat and a Peavey 5-string Bass. I haven't had a chance to plug in my mandolin yet. I also sang through it, using a Shure PG48 and a few other less than perfect vocal mics I have laying around. I found the attack setting most useful when it was all the way off- I tend to strum and percuss kind of hard and the attack got a little intense. The tube emulator was okay if at 4-5- it did seem to make the sound a little fatter/richer/fuller. Some of the effects seem useless and hard to control, but the rotary speaker made a real nice effect if strummed in approximately the same tempo. The ability to have dual effects- different effect on guitar and vocal is a bonus, and one I did not expect from reading the reviews or the Behringer web site. There can be some noise with the digital effects on, but only seems to be an issue with the master above around 5.
On some settings, I seemed to get some wicked feedback-the two feedback knobs did not seem to touch it. Turning down the tube emulator seemed to help. At this point, I'm not quite sure if it was from the mic or the guitar as both were plugged in at the same time.
Even with less than perfect vocal mics and a voice that is always trying to get better, I think the vocal enhancer does a nice job. I know that I still need to tweak it before I get it as good as it gets, but so far, I am impressed with it.

Sound Quality : 10
I play a lot of different things. I have a little home recording studio with a drum machine. Things vary from fingerpicking alternate tuning Windham Hill stuff to electric blues to power-pop to classic rock. I also play with a few groups of friends- play bass with a really hot jazz guitarist, play some alt country with other people, and another classic rock band. These days we only play basements and parties, but have done some bar gigs in the past.

Very clean sounding with an electric guitar, but seems like it would not stand up to the volume level of a band. The acoustic seems to have more punch, but again, not sure if it would hold up to live band volumes. I'm disappointed that I can't duplicate the rich full sound of my Ovation balladeer- I'm sure if I spent a couple of hundred bucks on a good soundhole pickup that would be different. The Ibanez sounds pretty thin unplugged. Through my Mackie PA it sounds very full and bassy. Through this amp it sounds good- again, I know with time I will be able to tweak it better. I found that the "high pitch hiss" can be eliminated by messing with the feedback and especially the attack knobs.

I've been playing for around 25 years- dropped it for 7-8 years and have gotten serious again over the last 3 years. I own the guitars mentioned above, as well as a couple of other off brand electrics and an old Gretsch Japanese knockoff dreadnought (which may be the best sounding of the bunch unplugged). My electric amp currently is a Fender Deville 212- a nice amp but so damn loud at any setting that it is hard to use for recording clean stuff.

Noisy on all reverb settings.

Reliability : 2
The first amp I recieved was noisy and had a motor boating sound in it. The second amp I recieved seemed to work allright at first although it had a burning smell after it had been operating about 5 minutes and the tone began to degrade so I shelved the amp. After about two years I decided I woud look at it and see if I could find the problem. I found the plus and minus 15 voltage regulator packs were missing the screws that mounted them to the heat sink.(this was comfirmed by Behringer Tech support on line) Both regulators were fried. I ordered the 7815 and 7915 from www.digikey.com. After replacing them and installing the heat sink screws the power amp works fine although when any reverb setting is used it has a loud hum. The total cost of repair was less than $30. The construction and materials used in this amp are supurb. The circuit board was fiber glass, the cable routing between the modules was great. I didn't see any evidence of poor quality anywhere. It looked like it was built to last. Aside from this break down in their process and inspection controls I think I would have been satisfied withe the amp.

Customer Support : 10
Behringer did not offer to supply parts or effect repair as it was out of warranty although it was an oversight in the manufacture. The online tech support was great.

If it were stolen or lost I would probably buy something else rather than take a chance of going through this again.

60 watts/chennel, 120 watts total. I purchased this amp 2 years ago, and have used it extensively. I am very happy with the purchase. If the amp were lost or stolen I would purchase it again, without hesitation.

This amp is heavy. Solid and well made. I understand that some reviewers say it is noisy, but mine is quiet. I use a mixer to access the amp, and this may make a difference. The effects (99 presets) are well designed and very versatile and useful.

ONE SHORTCOMING: the "warmth" control is neat, but it increases the feedback on the voice channel. Unfortunately, the warmth control effects both channels simultaneously, which makes it much less usable. Behringer should allow the warmth control to be used on the two channels independently.

Sound Quality : 9
I use this amp primarily as a coffeehouse amp, with an Alvarez MF80C acoustic guitar. I use condenser mics. I use a Behringer mixer. I also use a Behringer compressor (Comproser Pro XL2600) and a Behringer automatic feedback destroyer (1124p). The combination allows me to provide plenty of volume to play and sing -- often with a second guitarist and vocalist, all of us using the Ultracoustic -- and be easily heard over the buzz of coffeehouse conversation. If you've been to these coffeehouse concerts, you know that the patrons don't sit quietly listening, as though it were a concert. They talk and laugh and sometimes yell!

This amp provides plenty of loudness! I also use it with my electric, running first through a modeller. I have also used this amp for small electric gigs, using an electric guitar amp and the Ultracoustic as a small PA unit for voice only. When I get a larger, standard PA (power amp and separate speakers) I will prolly use the Ultracoustic as a self-powered monitor speaker!!! Ha.

Reliability : 9
It's been 2 years, as I said. No troubles. The amp has been loaded & unloaded from my pickup countless times, and it keeps on chooglin'.

Customer Support : 9
I've sent the company email, asking questions, and received fast and (mostly) knowledgeable answers.

Overall Rating : 9
I'm 55 and have been playing since age 12. I play acoustic & electric, blues, classic rock, folk and punk.

Let me both thank and reference you to Jim 6/2003 and Joe Blunt's reviews as I feel they are both very accurate in their details of this amp and prompted my purchase. One noted feature that has yet to be address in any of the reviews: The Effect pots on both channels. These allow the user to increase or reduce the Main Effect you've selected. Tuning is from 0 (no effect) to 99 controling a broad spectrum of change. Learn to tune this amp, all the settings actually work and you'll be very pleased with your purchase. Brillant chimey tone up top with an excellent bottom. My normal amp settings: Gain 7, Bass 9, Mid 5, Treble 2, Attack or Enhance 5, Warmth 7 with Master 6. These settings are just on the verge of excessive white noise and and other harmonics. Don't stand 3 feet away at these max settings and expect total silence, but step away 10 or 12 feet and you'll find quiet. Remember this is a coffee house amp.. respect it for what it is. You'll find the same noise from Marshall's accoustic amps and spend a whole lot more money finding out.

Sound Quality : 10
I am a dinosaur, played keys, guitar and bass since a kid, mostly Jazz, Blues, Country and Funk. A few onboard effects are just noisy unless you set 4 on the Master. Who care's.. the one's that remain are too tight.. perfect. Try 3, 6, 65 and 75 effects at default setting on any of your electrics. All my hollowbody Bucks or Single pups all sound outstanding! My acoustic dreadnought mic'ed is to die for. Here are few unexpected one's.. Bass is outrageous and no doubt I will have some disbeliever's but thru my De Armond Pilot Pro strung with TI flats and effect 65.. heck you'd think you were on a upright. Tight, punchy and a ton of bottom that would easily work in a small venue setting. Keyboards too sound great. People this amp has got the sounds if you just learn to dial it in!

Reliability : No Opinion
Don't yet know.. I've owned it a week. Seems gig worthy enough at this point. I purchased it from American Musical Supply because of their excellent reputation for service and their extended warranty giving you 2 years.

Customer Support : 10
I expect excellent customer service because I purchased the amp from
American Musical and they are online. 2 years works for me! Behringer has it's hands full making products like this at these prices.. I'll live with their poor customer sevice if that's what it comes to.

Overall Rating : 10
The amp flat gets it! Be forewarned, this will never be a loud amp unless lined into a monitor, but it will handle smaller venues.. Easily .. and sound great doing it. Personally if I am craving for more tube warmth and distortion I have a Dean Markley CD-60 that will take care of that itch. For $349.95 including shipping this amp's a steal.
