Behringer GMX212 V-Tone

They use very cheap parts. The knob shafts snap if they're bumped.

They have the most ridiculous customer service I've ever dealt with. To get parts, you have to contact them and wait for them to reply-- 2-4 weeks. Then you have to call another company to order the parts. You realize Behringer misuderstood your very clear description and gave you the wrong part number, and email back and forth with them 2 more times, because there are no schematics or parts lists for any of their products like every other manufacturer, they keep it all secret. 8 more weeks. Almost everything has to be backordered-- 10 weeks. They send the wrong part, which you'll never get a refund for. Start process all over to get correct part. Total time to order a $3 knob: close to a year. If they just put on their website (like Fender, Gibson, Peavey, etc.) what the parts are, you could order any 500k or 1 meg potentiometer and solder it in for a dollar.

Decent product if you buy it from a store who will take it back if it breaks under warranty (so you don't have to deal with Behringer), and expect to throw it away when it breaks out of warranty. Their stuff is cheaper, and it mostly performs at least average, but it's always one step out of the landfill.

For the money (i paid ??50/$80 for it in new condition) it's awesome. We have nine valve guitar amps in our living room so I am able to compare. Result: I won't fire my tube amps anymore if I want just have a little 5 minute playing intermezzo. The Behringer sounds realy nice. It can give you easily the right song idea with its different sounds. Thats the way how I use it, for composing. I had a POD years ago fot this. The POD sounded crap

I have no clue. It must be better than a Ashdown Fallen Angel. The most breakable amp on earth - On stage I am using Marshall's with Marshall back up amps. If the GMX212 gets broken then it's broken, so what.

my father bought this for me Christmas of '08. best 130 bucks i've spent, although a brand new one from zzounds is only 200. 2 knobs are broken off, but it doesnt matter cuz i NEVER adjust those knobs because i found the sound that i liked a few minutes after i got it home.

okay, lets start off with the basics. it's a combo amp, with 2 60-watt speakers. needless to say, this thing can yell pretty loud. i haven't used it for a live performance though, but i'm sure it can hold up. i haven't needed to put the volume beyond two yet and it's busted eardrums.

k,so it has two channels, each one includes a drive, low, mid, high, and channel volume dial, plus 3 witches (amp, mode, and speaker, each with 3 various settings) for even better modeling. each individual channel can have itt's own variation of sounds and effects. big plus

there is 99 different effect presets that's operated via 2 dials (effect selector, and effect lvl) so many possibilities. it has just about everything you'll need and then some. it is Wonderful for recording.

the channels and effects can be controlled by a footswitch that plugs into the back of the amp. there's also a multitude of input and out put ports on the back. and a perk about this amp is if you have a cbinet, you can plug it into the back and and play throught both as tho it were a stack.

and there's a master volume and presence control ;)

mine didnt come with a manual, so i had to play around with the effects to learn what all kinds of presets it had. one channel wound up being my clean with slight reverd for softer melodies, while one channel is my heavy metal material.

I'm currently using a silvertone Paul Stanley Sovereign Special (which is an amazing guitar by itself) and a Gibson v with off-brand pickups.

This amp is perfect for anything. Raw metal, soft Micheal Bolton crap. anything. it has a wonderful tweed effect on it that gives you a real acoustic vibe and numerous different ways to make this amp sound exactly the way you want. it's almost perfect.

one combination i recommend is amp-British, mode-hot, speakers-u.k, low 8, mid 10, high 10, lvl 10, with the effect on 98 with full effects level. this produce the most amazing distortion I've heard. no pedal I've used can get this sound :)

of course, one thing i will point out is it's hard to get a good result from mixing the presets with an effects pedal. you get terrible feedback. unbearable. and the foot switch doesn't switch channels kinda slowly, but most amps have that problem. and i usually play on one channel anyway, so it doesnt matter.

i love this amp. i want to buy a brand new one, just because mine was used, and since it's only 200 bucks off z zounds, it's worth more than the price paid. when my dad bought this, he pretty much stole it for the price he paid. it's very heavy, like logs, so i doubt it'll get stolen.

there are plastic parts however. and I've heard the input jacks have been known to fail often, and the chord does slip lose kinda easily, so a wireless system might be a good idea if your a front man, like me.

i've heard behringer has crappy support, but i haven't had to deal with them.

i've been playing for about 5 years now. i own another fender amp, but i haven't touche it in the 6 months i've owned the behringer. I love what this amps got, and i love it's versatility. i also have a behringer pedal thats has failed to disappoint. i am a fan of their products now. as that sham wow guy said "the germans always make good stuff"

wow here we are.I got my Behringer Gmx212 v-tone 3 yrs ago it was was Built in 2006.I Paid $408.00 Plus taxes Canadian. After getting to know her. I Named her Honey. She has a sweet sound no matter how I set her up. Clean,High Gain or hot. Between the Drive and Midrange controls, the versatility of these amps is very wide. my pondering times I like The tweed set clean with preset #2 set about 30. and midrange scooped out. Nice fenderish lonely twin reverb kinda sound. If I wanna head to hotel cali or the house of the riseing sun. then The Brit.is where I land. also very versatile.if the mood gets Dark and seeking Metel. any amp type of the three. gain up guitar cranked master volume set old school (10) She has two channels I find Ch 2 is richer fater and full. when i use A clean tweed. I can set both channels dile for dile and it just sounds sweeter. so i keep ch2 cl and ch 1 as veribully raunch,crunch ect...
she also has a nice fx loop only wish it had a level control. there is a footswitch for ch 1 or 2 and fx on and off. a midi interface. specker outs for a cab hookup I run 2 Bugera 212hbks when i wanna be loud.(anybody that says this baby cant scream and growl should rethink the way they set their GMX up. with the Slave in inputs some times for fun i'll run my Gmx 212 just as power to drive through her 212's fead by my Gmx1200h driveing twin Cabs so hummmm grunt growl it's a rockn roll maaachene. so line out tape in tape out aux in headphone jack. Just think about it she's versatile. the only thing I wish she had is some of the fx presets from the newer modle presets 1-70 on mine i would not trade for the newer ones but i would like from preset 90 to 99 they are diffrent on the later modles the 2x50watt Gmx212 modles.They got overdrives and diffrent preset mixes .but Reverb delay and chorus are all i really use. I try not to hide behind fx. so atleast half the fx i never use.but hay my freinds seem to love that stuff. I use my Gmx for a practice and composeing tool but shes played Bars outdoor concerts and house parties. so she's been up and down and around and round and back again. never skiped a beat or let me down.all solid state no tubes with some guys cant beleve. shes played gibsons, fenders, epiphones and an aray of pawnshop guitars....changed alot of minds.lots of power there. if you get a new one they run jensens not the vintage bugeras like mine they sound thinner just don't have the same honey as the bugeras. but eather ither just do't crank it for a while brake the drivers in gentle for a while you will find your bass stays tighter down thw road

My main guitars are both epiphone. a Les Paul costem and a Sg Special.both have stock epiphone Humbuckers Plate on the paul and double coil on the Sg.I now use Earnie ball slinky hybreds on both. 09-45.between them i cover the old time country Dad and the boys played as i was was a little feller.Dreamin of the day i'd be doin that. to your growin up in the 60's stuff. lots from the 70's 80's 90's I think a true picker loves all breeds. My Gmx212 cover all the stuff i play and more. Mine is quite unless I crank her up past 8 witch by the way is onlt 7 numbers start at 1 so 1 is off and 2 is 1
good ol german reasonins i supose. so shes been indoors outdoor sometimes in my bathroom. where ever i got some juice. the sounds she sings range from saductive honey to a bigbore chainsaw gnawing and growling through a bigass furtree.I can pull a nice fender,marshell,mesa boggie. really anything i'm looking for.The tweed set clean and guitar about 6 I take her to 10 and she gots no noise so clean is clean. the distortion is skull crushing and stays tight upto 8 then she seems to blur with the onboard spks. stays tight through the bk's.

i woud count on her. But i will say i care for my gear. I actully kicked a buddy out for a while cause he put a beer on her head. I'm persnickety about some things. if you use it but don't abuse it you won't loe it. she never let me down. i not even gonna knock on wood after saying that. I think she was made on a humpday.

warrenty was a year never had to deal with behringer ouher the regester my gear.

Fbv1010,line6 spider III 150 Fbv shortboard. A bugera 333xl head pumpin fullstack of bk's. a bugera 1960.hbk halfstack Boss gt10. i'm coverd....well mabe. There was nothing in that price range at 120 watts to compare it to. the closes to it was the spider III form line6 I got 1 played both on and off and after i prefer the Gmx.it's not so user freindly as the line6 but the sound kills it. we all say the same thing...yummy tone.

The amp was made last year, it's versatile, one you figure the programming out, which takes a while. It's stereo, which is much better to me than single channel amps I've owned. I wish it had a stronger input jack - the one it has is plastic and breaks too easily. I used it when a friend brought his new one to my place for me to check out for him. The input jack broke a day later, and that's the 2nd one that broke on him in a month, after the first broke on another new one he traded in for the one I GMX212 I checked out for him. It's got plenty of power, especially for the price, and the modelling, when set up right, is great.

I played a Kramer SG through it for about a half hour. It has such a broad range of sounds that the hard rock/metal I pout it through worked fine. Not too noisy except when cranked, but what amp isn't when cranked? Clean was clean as far up the volume as my neighbors allow. I've heard more brutal distortions, but I'm a finesse player who likes to show my stuff, not seek the ultimate depraved sound.

I wouldn't gig with it with that weak plastic input jack. Behringer should replace that think immediately. I've even see GMX212s being sold on eBay with bad input jacks. This indicates to me that Behringer isn't holding up their end on that problem, because why sell an amp if only the input jack is broken, unless you can't get it fixed by Behringer. I'll bet they don't consider that breakage a warranty item, but one of abuse they won't cover.

I've dealt with Behringer on this particular amp and the input jack problem. The friend I checked out the amp for, after already returning one new one for the same problem, can't get them to even sell the input jack assembly, plus a spare, so that if th=it breaks again, he'll be ready. They have been stonewalling him for several months now, while he's been unable all this time to use the amp at all. I even complained to the Behringer US central office about it and he's still sitting there waiting for help they show no sign of intending to give him. I can only conclude from this that their customer support stinks to high heaven. How'd you like to buy an amp that had a design flaw in it that prevented you from using it for months.

I've been playing for over 40 years. That's why my friend brought me the amp to check out. I've never seen a customer support in all that time so unwilling to take responsibility for an obvious flaw. If stole, I'd leave that boat anchor as a burden to the thief and go get something else. Other than that huge flaw, everything else seemed OK, especially for the bucks. I wish it had a solid input jack. I know there are a lot of people who got this amp and had the input jack break on them, and I wish they'd get together and sue Behringer over that design flaw. I'm just about certain that Behringer knows the fleas on this dog and is just too cheap to fix it and make good with a recall for anyone who wants it on the problem. The only GMX212 I'd buy is a used cheapo with a bad jack from a frustrated customer, and I'd put my own fix on it immediately, because it's a jinx, and the fix isn't that difficult - I've already got it figured out, and if I can, why can't they?

You've read it all before. Tons of effects. Some are quite good while others are so-so. Two channels. Three settings for speaker, gain, and amp models. Easy to use amp but needs a little of time to figure out for the best sound you want. Get the FCB1010 midi foot board. With the addition of this board all of the effects are then much easier to use and to edit. Also, switching channels with the FCB1010 is instantanious. No delay at all. IMO the FCB1010 is a must with this amp.

The sound quality is super. Anywhere from a tweed to a 5150 type tone is easily achievable. You just have to figure it out. The Bugera speakers are fantastic. It is a loud amp when the gain is set on 'hot'. Just toss a noise reducer between you and the amp. Nice and quiet now!

I've had this amp for over two years now. Its been used and abused. But it is still in excellent condition. Makes me wonder how you all treat your equiptment.

Never needed them.

I've been playing guitar for over twenty years. I have other amps that I use more. And some of those other amps are indeed better. But, overall its amazing how close this inexpensive, Chinese made, solid state modeling amp is to the all mighty tube amps it trys to model. I've just recently started using this amp more as a main recording amp. It is excellent for this use. As for gigging with it....................................well, I would use it for a small gathering or in a small pub, but thats about it unless a 4x12 was used. Excellent all around amp.

212 w/ 12" Jensens (Bugeras - Decent Speakers), Multi FX, only one input (and Very Cheap Jack). 2 channels (clean and Overdrive)

Clean channel is quite weak in volume for the most part but quiet. I like clean for Jazz but the GMX 212 is just too weak when compared to my Crate 160 w/ 1-12" or even my Marshall VS30R.
This amp can rock and has varried sound and quality.

Hmmm.... I'm not impressed at all. As stated, very weak input jack. I had to go inside to fix the jack and found an array of small cheap, unimpressive boards and clips. I would have though from the weight of the amp that it would have had some impressive meat and muscle. (must be the particle board it constucted of. The control pot posts are all plastic. as are most of the jacks. They use a composite material for the wire connectors on the Speakers. I had to resolder a lose wire on one terminal and it could'nt handle the heat from a standard soldering iron (I have soldered for many years and have done board level LCD and DLP projector repairs and PC - IC repairs for many years) any way, the terminal contact melted off of the mounting plate of the speaker. Not real impressive at all. The better amps use spades and plug onto the terminals. I just think they are build with cheap plastic components to keep the prices low. Spend the extra bucks and buy a peavey or crate or similar quality amp.

Last time I owned a Behringer V-Tone amp head that arrived dead, I was told they didn't have any in stock and it would take 4 to 6 weeks to get me a new one. Needless to say, I sent it back to MF for exchange for a Randall RH200SC head (AWESOME - which I still use).

Sorry people, I am just not impressed. Although I do own and like my Behringer BG412S Cabinet.

The Behringer GMX 212 was designed with versatility and vintage tones in mind. It boasts two solid state channels, each with it's own assignable multi FX. The rear of the amp is laden with input/outputs such as line out, tape in, tape out etc. I run my computer through it and it sound great.It also has Behringer's modelling features inbuilt, which allows the user to dial almost any sound, making it very versatile. It also comes with a remote pedal, that changes channels and switches effects on/off.

I use my GMX 212 with an Epiphone Les Paul Standard, with no modifications. As I play with a band, we play Rock, Classic Rock and Soft Rock and even forms of Metal (Silverchair, Nirvana, Powderfinger, Wolfmother). It basically generates a good tone for all of these genres. The only problem is it does have a terrible whirring sound when cranked up to maximum (as it is often), even with the guitar unplugged. This makes an outdoor venue a little difficult. It is OK indoors, where it dosen't have to be cranked. One perk is that the clean channel does not distort at incredible volumes. The distortion is not particularly brutal as it is a vintage style amp.

I can depend on this amp. I have had it for two years and the only problem i have has is the guitar input became very loose and jiggly on a gig, only because our drummer stepped on my guitar cable. It has not broken down yet and does not need major servicing as it is solid-state.

I have never had to deal with the company as I did the repairs by myself with my Father. Warranty (I think) is 1 year.

I have been playing guitar for 4 years now. I also own an Epiphone acoustic and another Behringer amp that i got as my first guitar that also came with a guitar. If it were stolen or lost, I would not hesitate on buying a Marshall, simply because my own and the bands abilities have progressed beyond the stage of this amp. I chose this amp because at the time, I could not afford something like a Marshall. I would suggest this amp to anyone who has just started a band, and needs incredible volumes and is willing to sacrifice tone, or, put simply, the discerning musician who only cares about playing.

This amp is designed in Germany and assembled in China. This amp is absolutely versatile for me. I play blues, rock, pop and chrunch and play guitar for more than 25 years.

I was surprised about the low price, the power, the features and the fact that this amp is a stereo thing. And quite a big one, too!

There are two channels and they have both the same features: drive, three 2-way switches to choose between resp. amp (tweed, brittain and californian), mode (hot, hi gain and clean) and speakersimulation (US, UK and flat). This amp comes with a footcontroller with two switches, one for channel switch and one for effects and when you push both, to use the build in tuner and bypass. That's nice.

There are many, many this you can connect to this amp. Almost anything you ever can dream about is possible for your perfect setup. Loops, extern pre-amp use (f.e. works great with a V-AMP2, which I tried). You can directly connet to a mixer, without loosing the sound on your speakers and yes...there's a headphone jack, too!

Features that I miss? Would be nice if they put a V-amp2 with storage banks in it, but hey!: This amp comes with so much features and possibilities + stereo + plenty of power that it is almost unbelievable as it is right now, for such a low price. It's a bargain! But we people almost want more, don't we?
So, we can save effect settings (lot's of presets and effects are built in and you can change them). We can not save a complete set up.
But don't forget we have two full featured channels.
I hardly use the build in effects, only a easy and fine soundin chorus to make my sound stereo and it's great. I use a multi-effect
pedal most of the time for all my presets (Korg AX3G or Behringer V-AMP2). This setup is all I ever want and ever need and it rocks! AWESOME!

Now something different. When I bought this amp, the day after I almost brought it back to where it came from, to trade it to another amp (another Behringer, with built in V-amp). The reason was that I didn't like the very low volume of the clean tweed setting in comparison to the other settings. When I wanted a clean sound on channel one and a crunchy drive setting on channel two, there was a huge difference in the too low volume of the clean channel in comparison to the other, crunchy channel. The only way to solve this was to lower the level of the channel that I choose to be the drive-one and to raise the master volume far. I didn't like this, because I don't want to loose the overall huge power that this amp has.

I finally decided that I should take more time to learn what's the best setup for me on this amp and the next day I connected my Korg pedal to this amp. The sound was amazing. I can make EVERYTHING I want at any volume that I want and I can adjust the volume to any level I like and store it, like all the settings. When I bypass the pedal I can choose the other channel on the amp and can do what I want, with anny setting I want.
Not all the built in effects of the GMX212 amp are great, but they're enough for the money and lot of them are really nice.

So my suggestion: use the built in effects to get a perfect stereo. Add a cheap but good multieffectpedal like the Korg AX3G (mine was 59 euro new!) and you're feeling fully equipped and in heaven.

This amp can sound clean, bright, wide (beautiful stereo), heavy, blues, rock, metal, punk, jazz, chrunch. And of course it depends on your guitar and other connected stuff, too. There's enough high, mid and low and enough power to blow the roof off! This amp is loud! Perfect for gigs, too.

I take care for my stuff. I heard the pot's are hollow and plastic, so think about it and transport in a box when you gig with it and place it on to a flat and reliable service. I always use a backup, I would anyway. The rest of the amp looks okay to me. But my Vox looks stronger. But hollow plastic pot's: if that's true, it's tricky, mister Behringer.

I asked for information on the volume-issue described above (too big difference between clean and other amp settings) and they where very helpful and they are really dedicated. If I wanted I could get my money back. They really take their customers problems and suggestions seriously. But the day after I learned how to solve my problem myself and get the best out of this great amp. No regrets since.

I play guitar more than 25 years now. I have an USA Fender Highway strat, a Johnson Les Paul, an Epiphone Les Paul Junior, a London City Telecaster Comet, an Ibanez Artcore semi-accoustic and a Vester EG335 copy. Up till now I tried the Fender strat and the Les Pauls on this amp. All sound like I want them to sound. I want maximum flexibility and I got it with this amp. I use a Behringer V-amp2, for direct recording and a Korg AGX3 Toneworks multieffectpedal. For a quick practising I use a Vox AD15VT.

If the Behringer amp were stolen, I would get myself another, period!

I love the full sound (can sound like a full tube amp), the huge power, the features, the amount of connectors, the footcontroller that came with it, the built in tuner, the size. All together: how can they make and sell such a thing for such a low price. Very good!

120 watts, Jensen Bugera speakers, 99 effects, 2 channels, footswitch, lots of connections, 3-band EQ on both channels plus drive and level, master volume, only one instrument input, stereo, ext. speaker output, effects loop. Very versatile and easy to operate. I don't use all of the effects, I wish it had better reverb. I play metal and get decent distortion considering the cheap pickups I have on my guitar. I play in a large room, in a small room I got a lot of feedback.

This amp sounds great, I can't believe it only costs $250. The cleans stay smooth at high volumes and I get scary distortion with it. I'm replacing my pickups with Duncans and I can't wait to hear how it sounds then! The effects that I've tried weren't too impressive, but I didn't expect them to be for the price I paid. I'm just thrilled about the power and speaker models. This thing is so loud. The amp and speaker simulaters are pretty good. Just using them and the EQ, I get a wide variety of sound. I don't play with the effects too much. I'm probably going to go ahead a buy a reverb pedal, because the reverb is really weak. There's a little bit of hum when I turn the gain up high.

It's pretty solid. The footswitch has a metal case. I've been banging on it pretty hard and it's still working. The knob shafts are made of plastic though so I'm careful when moving it around. The knobs don't stick out though, so you don't have to worry too much. The amp fell on it's face once and nothing broke, so whatever.
I'd definitely use this at a gig, it's looouuud!

The gmx212 is as solid state as to be expected in this price range, and plenty, though limited effects. its a good practice amp/small gig amp.

The stereo echo/delay channels are amazing. something you would expect to find with a roland set-up.

Again at this price range you can only expect to find budget minded conservative design to a point, that point being -pick this amp over a crate, absolutley. solid cab/speaker placement with protective metal edges, very good tolex covering comparable to a fender in design.

Honestly this is not a $600 amp, would you expect it to be? you bought this for a reason and got your moneys worth. i have not had any problems with it yet, eveything still works so no customer support needed at this point, and i really dont know what i would do if needed. maybe another amp purchase would be more appropriate.

Like i said earlier i love the stereo echo/delay, amazing at this price range being on-board and all. up to par with roland effects. if it lasts as long as other amps there would be no point in re-purchasing. i recieved the "bugera vintage" series speakers with mine, dont know if that makes a difference, or any impact on sound quality from the celestions.

Date coded '04, this GMX212 is one of the early production units. Two "channels", effects, substantial solid state power, 2 twelves - you know the sales propaganda. The effects are reasonably good for the price, but limited to the combinations and order chosen by Behringer. Using the optional FCB1010 controller provides more control over effects switching and parameter settings, but it takes dedication.

With a stock Strat or a Tele, the tone can be dialed from crystal clean to a stout crunch. No over-the-top distortion, but a fair approximation of over-driven tubes. Metal-heads won't be satisfied. With single coil pickups, you get single coil hum.

Wouldn't put the gigging player onto this amp. While it has never blown up or taken a dump, the cheezy three-position slide switches that Behringer uses on the panel absolutely SUCK. Within 6 months, they were intermittant. Behringer states that they still use the same switches, so be forwarned. The rotary controls (okay, knobs) probably wouldn't survive abuse or a solid hit.

Support isn't impressive. Feel free to search through FAQs in hopes of finding something relevant and useful. Leave your question(s) at the website and get a response. Not an answer to your question, but a response. The people are real nice; they just can't help you. With regard to the aforementioned switch problem, the amp can be taken to an authorized service center where the cheezy slide switches can be replaced with more cheezy slide switches. No, they won't provide a schematic; that might promote unauthorized repairs

If the GMX212 was stolen, I'd search pawn shops for a Blues Junior or similar time-tested amp from a known manufacturer. Screw the digital effects; gimme quality components and a schematic. When purchased in 2005, the GMX212 looked like the best deal available. The effects, the output power, stereo 12" speakers - all for under $300. For the same price, I could have had a good used Peavy or Fender amp and a couple of pedals.

The features of this amp have been well described here already so I won't go much into them, however I will say that I am happy with the features of the amp. There's more than enough input/outputs on the back and the two channels each have independant EQs which was good for me, as I find a lot of multi-channel amps use the same EQ panel for each channel. The layout on this amp gives lots of flexibility. There's 99 effects presets which can all be tweaked with the Mix knob, however I'm not really into the effects on the amp.

There's a lot of different tones to be coaxed out of this amp. The 3 switches each with 3 selections which make up the amp modelling offer lots of possibilities. I have a light crunch as my basic setting - British amp model, Clean setting with a UK speaker model (gain 6, low 7, mid 6, high 6) - and I use external pedals for extra gain/effects. The amp distortion is pretty impressive, though. On the Hot gain setting, you can get some really heavy tones. If I use that, I use effect 98 in conjunction as this seems to tighten the gain, making it sound better. Some of the effects are good, others are not so. Typically I have Reverb (effect 3) on all the time at about 15-20 Mix. This just makes my tone a bit more spacey, while not being too noticeable. The phasers and delays are pretty good, while the auto-wah is not so.

I am pretty confident of this amp's reliability. However, the first one I bought broke down (whenever the footswitch was plugged in the effects processor went funny, refusing to do anything, glitching up etc.) but Behringer replaced it free of charge and the one I have now has not given me any problems at all and I gig quite frequently with it without backup. However, the knobs feel like they could break off quite easily but I am careful when transporting etc.

As I said before, when I had the problem with it, I emailed them and after determining the problem, they said they would pick it up from my house and take it back to their HQ in Germany (free of charge) and send a new one out. I got the replacement pretty quickly (within a week or two) and it didn't cost me anything! Very good customer services.

For the price, really there is nothing better. Good flexibility and sounds make this a very worthwhile amp.

Good basic feature set - 2 independent channels, each with the full complement of EQ, Gain and Volume dials, and three modelling switches, for "Amp", "Mode" (Gain model), and "Speaker". 2-button footswitch for channel-flipping and FX on/off. Master Vol & Presence dials. Good assortment of rear-panel connections. Wide selection of FX types. The FX settings are "presets", but you can vary the mix level manually via the "Mix" dial. (The amp accepts a MIDI connection if you want to go that route for added control.) There's a 2-second delay when switching between FX's, which bothers some people. However, the channel-switching is pretty much immediate, so if you set up each channel with your desired tone & FX, then the FX delay isn't as much of an issue.

The tones out of this amp suit me pretty well. You can get great crunch and high-gain tones - NO KIDDING. I play several guitars thru this amp, and all sound good, with both single coils and HB's. The "Clean/Tweed" model sounds good, but is quieter (which one would expect). I attach graphic EQ boxes in the front-end and the Insert Loop, which allows me to boost-up the signal with the Gain/Level sliders, as well as added tone-shaping flexibility. This is the way i kick the "Clean/Tweed" into a GOOD clean-to-mild crunch tone.....sounds GOOD.

So far, so good. I'm not "on the road" much these days, mostly local and home use. Some have noted things like the plastic dials and such. I've always been so careful with equipment over the years that i haven't had the problems that the 'heavy-knockers' have had. ( AND, no beers allowed on the box! )

I give this amp a high rating, because it pretty much suits me with my guitars and the music i play - rock, blues, alternative.... , esp. with the add-on's i use like EQ boxes and DC Womanizer. (Oh yes, i forgot to mention THAT one .... the Womanizer is THE BEST OD unit i've used .... and it adds an additional dimension to this amp.) I also use a Vox Tonelab, and overall it sounds pretty good. (Naturally, the "Clean/Tweed" model is the best setting for any processor, since you want the processor to sculpt the tone more than the amp.) This amp is FAR from top-of-the-line .... BUT, for $300, it's hard to find fault with it, given all the sounds and quality tone you can get out of it. This amp allows a good guitar to still sound good, which is the best overall test of amplification.

Came with a dual foot switch, channel/effects/tuning. you wont use all the effects but its good to know they are there. every mult-effect proccesor i ever owned i never used more than a few on a regular basis anyways.
running a '86-'87 fernandes strat straight into the amp with my seymour duncan live wire (pickup)sounds good. foot switch very usefull, tuning by the tap of a pedal convenient. all the back panel connetion choices will have you passing out. and bugera "vintage guitar series" speakers (well the one i recieved)

Very easy dialing in what you need to start thrashing right away. like i mentioned, experimentation is the key here. effects loop/aux in is all you need to hook up your effects/pedals/whatnot.. all external effects work with this amp as long as you dont put them between you, the guitar and front panel input.

Its built solid and very straight forward and attractive, not at all over "plasticy" like its direct competition. the previous owner had 8 months to break it in for me, so im hoping for the best. and i dont see any craftmanship problems for lugging this thing around for gigs (has metal corner gurads ++) it is heavey, but what amp isnt? if its worth playing thru.. its built simillar to fenders bigger amps (but looks good in its own right)

Best price in this range for power/features. paid $180 used a week ago from the original owners purchase date of 2/06 and a $299 guitar center price.

The features alone can create quite a stir in interest. the younger crowd im sure will go for the line 6 spider II counterpart due to the fact that the name sounds "cooler" than behringer, but they allways have been a lost generation (me being a part of that generation at one time like most)

Its worth its price for everything considired. im not going to say its "godly" and the best thing since sliced bread, but the tonal quality is there and its competetor falls very short. has all the power you need for a practice/small gig amp and its clean channel is not weak, once you know how to dial it in. every once in a while an "off" brand or lesser known company will come about with a little gem that fills in all the gaps for a very budget price, this seems to be an example.

Hmmmm. Tricky one this. Clean channel too quiet, distortion stangely muffled and inflexible. Feedsback quite a bit too unless you have the drive right down but this eliminates any real sustain.

I play in a covers band playing punky stuff, pistols, greenday, kaiser chiefs. It works OK with this but I have never been totally happy with the tone though, just doesn't have enough flexibility with the distortion.

Never broken down, gigged with it a few times.

Probably a good amp for starting out, I think after a while you notice its limitations although you do get a loud amp with a ton for built in effects, some useful, some not, for your money.

Loads of features, creates ridiculous range of tone.

i did put a scratch in the sticker on one of the speaker cos i put the pedal in the back of the cab whilst carrying it. The pedal has a sharp corner and is made of steel and speakers are strong magnets. yeh. but thats just me being retarded.

Number of guitars into it and other pedals and stuff. Thing is with this you dont really need pedals unless you want alot of extra channels.

The sound produced is wicked, range of tones is brilliant. If it were lost or stolen i would buy it again fo sho. Compared with other amps of same price, they have nothing on it, none are as loud or as versatile. Amps similar to it are much more expensive. Only discernable difference between this and line 6 is 1. The badge 2. Line 6 slightly easier to use. If you have the manual its easy enough though.

The only thing its missing really is some old classic fuzz from it.

The clean channel is lower than od/drive channels but it sound very close to a good tube amp such as a Fender Tweed. An amazing clean channel ! My setting for clean usage is Tweed/clean/Uk

For a light crunch it's ok - just Ok ...

But for a good drive, Wouah !! A lot of punch and definition with also a tube like sound. Very good for playing Rammstein, NIN, Metal in general ...

It's a big surprise from Behringer, this amp is amazing. You can play all with it from clean ballad and blues to a very very heavy Metal.
I love this amp. If I have to change, that will be only for the Vox AD120VT or a Hiwatt custom 100. Because between those two amps and the Behringer, no other amp can justify the changing for me.
And when you look at the price ...

Here's where I wanted to pitch in my 2 cents. I just played a used one of these at a guitar store. I'd never played one...never seen one...nothing until today so I thought I'd get on here and see what people have to say about it. I've never seen such mixed reviews of an amp so I thought I'd add to it. I LOVED it. The clean channel could have sounded better (but I didn't play with it much...I was too busy BASKING IN THE GLORY of the distortion channel!) and the way the effects are layed out is a little bizarre, but it's no big deal. They sound pretty good which is all that matters and are easy enough to use as long as you have the owner's manual (I would have been lost if I hadn't found the owner's manual in the back of it).

What I LOVE about this amp was the distortion. Oh my GOD it was great. I was playing a Ernie Ball Sub through it, had the gain all the way up (don't remember all the specific channel settings), EQ set up with the highs and lows around 7 or 8 and the mids at about 4. I can see what people mean about the thing lacking "pressure"...that's just a really odd way of saying it lacks bottom end...I guess...(*shrug*)...that's what I thought about it. I thought it sounded great but it could use a little bit more low end...nothing a eq pedal couldn't remedy if it bothered me enough.

All in all...if you play in the style of Killswitch Engage (this amp mimics their sound VERY closely), Shadow's Fall, Avenged Sevenfold, etc, this would be an amp worth looking into. I would have LOVED to play my custom Ibanez S-Series or my Parker through the thing.

...and, to top it all off, it was only $185...helluva deal...

I own a Behringer V-Amp2 and am pleased with the modeling sounds, so I was curious about this amp. Found a lightly used one at a local music store. The only problem with the amp was a loose input jack. The store tried to fix it, but to no avail. They suggested I contact Behringer for a replacement part. Since I am experienced in electronic repair, I asked them what they would sell it to me for as is. I took this amp home for $125...and man, it was well worth it...since it retails for $349 and it generally goes for about $250 at most music stores.

I don't have to go into all the features, since its been well described already. I don't understand some of the gripes about this amp having "no pressure". If you take the time to experiment with the settings, you'll get plenty of growl. My favorites are the British in either Hi Gain or Hot with UK speaker setting and the Tweed clean with US speaker setting. Its got very nice clean and dirty tone and is way loud enough.

Effects are OK. I'm not much into them, but there are decent sounding delays, reverbs, chorus, flanging, phasing, pitch, etc. I could live without some of them though (auto wah, magic drive(yuk!)

If I could wish for one thing more on this amp, it would be that you could have an extra switch on the footswitch to switch between the mode settings (clean/hi-gain/hot) on each channel. That would be nice to get that extra bit of gain while soloing without having to run back to the amp to switch it.

I play in a band that does everything from Merle Haggard to ZZ Top and this amp can cover all the bases well.

I use both humbucking(bill lawrence, dimarzio) and single coil(Fender noiseless)pickups with the amp. It goes from clean to ripping fairly well. I'd say that the distortion tone compares very favorably with my Marshall JCM900. My ear goes for more of a classic rock distortion tone and this amp does a great job. The clean sound sure does sound very Fender-like and works great for country and mellow rock stuff.

I haven't found it to be any noisier than other amps I've played. Of course, it depends on the situation (club's wiring, flourescent lights, etc.).

I'm taking this amp out to the Sturgis Rally this year for a 7 night engagement, so that will be the acid test. I do plan on taking my Marshall along as well, but would be taking a backup amp along anyway just to be safe. I plan on using both amps on stage.

The only problem I've had so far is the loose input jack and Behringer was super about it...(see "Customer Support").

The amp had a loose input jack when I bought it. I contacted Behringer and, at first, they wanted me to ship it in for repair. I emailed them back and told them that I wanted to fix the amp myself and just wanted a part number so I could order the input jack. They responded and said that the jack was mounted in a module and it would be easier to replace the whole thing. They said that even though I bought the amp used and it wasn't in warranty...they would send me an input jack module FREE OF CHARGE!

If that's not customer service, I don't know what is!

I've been playing guitar for over 25 years and, for my money, this amp holds its own with the big dogs at a fraction of the cost. If you're just starting out, or just want another amp to add to your arsenal, I would highly recommend the Behringer GMX-212. Its a fun little amp.

If it was stolen or lost, I'd get another one...or maybe figure out how to slave together a stack of Marshall Lead 12's....LOL

I think this actually roars like a JCM800, but doenst have the "pressure" in the sound.

Its a big thumping, spongy, bassy, very powerful amp.

Its more painful on your ears at high volumes than other amps.

If you have the money for THIS amp , get a marshall MG instead... frickin ace sound.


Plently of FX... they are shite. preset 97, the "british tube stack" is really painful on the ears. 98 doesnt suck so bad, gives you a big Metallica St Anger sound.

Very harsh sound. No pressure. Clean is good but ive heard better.

Distortion is not great if your a speed-metal head.

Itll do if you have a Boss ME50 or higher.

I run a DIgitech Whammy, MXR DIme Distortion, Boss F-2 Flanger and a ROcktron Metal Planet through this amp. I play a Superstrat homemade guitar. EVH style.

Just dont hold the channel button down by accident when turning it on. you will lose all modified presets, and wont be able to save new ones. The channels will both be stuck on the same presets and you cant save preferences. just a warning.

This review is for the amp as an amp, not an amp in a specific price range, just in general. This amp was bought new in 2006 from MF. It is incredibly versatile. I play by myself, and with my youth group worship band, the 10:10 band. We play a lot of rock, hard rock, and our own little stuff here and there. I needed an amp that would deliver great cleans AND great distortions. This amp DELIVERS. There are 2 channels which are identical. You can set on up as clean, one as distorted. Both channels have a Drive knob, Low, mid, high, and level kobs, as well as three switches.
Switch 1: you're choice of Cali, Brit, and Tweed modeled amps with noticeable differences
Switch 2: Clean, hi gain, or hot mode
Switch 3: US, UK, or Flat speaker modeling

Then there is the Special effects part, and there are 2 knobs: Presets and FX. Presets is where you can choose from 99 simulations including delays, chorus, phasers, auto wah, etc. as well as some different amps, like a dirty cabinet, etc. All the effects seem very useful. For something like the delay, just pick the one you want, and use the FX knob to dial in how much you want it do be mixed in: how much it will continue to repeat. You cannot set the timing for delay, or wah, but the presets are really really fun to use. There is a separate midi pedal you can buy which allows you to change stuff and has a built in volume and wah pedal, but it's not worth it to me. The ONLY negative thing about this amp is that if, and ONLY if, you set up one channel to have one effect, and the other channel to have a different one, then when you switch channels it doesn't switch instantly. The sound does NOT cut out, it just doesn't happen right away, so it's basically a learning curve where you have to know when to hit the button just on time so that it switches when you want it to.
One thing that's really cool is that if you want to have channel 1 be dirty, and channel 2 clean, but you want another kind of distortion for later on, you can go through the effects and find something like a distorted cabinet model, and set it up as the effect for your clean channel (but leave it off) then when you're playing you have 2 distortions and a clean to use without having to change anything. Oh yeah, and the effects don't have to be on, the footpedal and the controls on the face determine if they're on or off. I will be using this amp live tomorrow (hopefully) but I've really pumped up the volume already and it's amazing. It is 120 watts mono, and it can also drive other speakers (it workes as a head if you want). On the back There are RCA inputs and outputs, headphone jack, external effects jack (in and out), auxilliary jack (with level control, I think so the amp becomes a cab), Line in (L&R), and external speaker jacks (L&R). It is Solid State, but that doesn't hinder me at all. It's pretty stinkin heavy too at about 60lbs. Holding in the channel switch button (either on the face, or the pedal) turns on a built in SILENT tuner, which works well.

I use an Oscar Schmidt OE30 semi hollow with HH, and a Washburn WI64 Idol solid body with coil tap. This thing can go from Fender cleans, to an overdriven chuck berry, to bone crushing Mesa-like all out distortion, and everything in between. It's plenty loud enough on it's own for a gig. There is some minor hum on some of the FX settings, but you can always turn them off when you're not playing. Sometimes with the wah, you can hear it "wah-ing" the slight hum when you're not playing, kinda funny actually. All the effects sound good, and function just like they should. The clean channel is interesting, because on my own preferred settings (Cali, clean, UK speaker) it is fairly quiet even with the level all the way up, but just turn the drive knob up a little and it's quite a boost, but still very clean, so that's great. Like I said, the distortion can do pretty any distortion I want, and the amp modeling is SUCH a plus! Also the FX are very useful, because not all of them are plain "special effects" some of them are models of other kinds of amps and distortions. you can get any clean or muddy or fuzzy distortion you want, but it's more geared away from fuzz. I'm taking off 1 point here for the very very slight annoyance of the effect's hum, but it's hardly anything, and unnoticeable while playing. But I'm reviewing this amp as an amp, not a "price range" amp, just an amp compared to any other amp.

It seem incredibly solid, and really heavy 60lbs. It's pretty new to me, and yes I would use it on a gig without a back up because it's the only amp I have, but at youth group there are some other amps I could use if need be, like the tech 21 I've been using. This baby puts it to shame. It has metal corners, very useful, and solid tolex (I assume) covering. It is open back, so that might bother some people.

I called both Musicians Friend and Behringer a few times to check with them about different features and options, and also to ask about the theoretical "effects pause". Both were extremely helpful and answered my questions accurately and correctly. I think the warranty is one year, and there is a local repair center.

I've been playing for a little over 3 years. I have a few guitars. If it was stolen I would be pissed, so I plan on keeping an eye on it. I love that it does everything I wanted to do and more. I researched for ages and this was apparantly the best amp for the job. I love it. Go behringer.

This thing sucks. When the at 50% volume on a hard edge effect, it just craps out. Buzzing, seems like it isn't tuned correctly (see: amplification vs. range).

Since I don't like it, hardly play it, therefore it is very reliable. I basically use it as a stand for my Line 6 2x12 amp.

I just wanted to stick my 2 cents in after owning one of these for two years now. I'm continually amused and amazed at the Pronouncements From On High about gear of all kinds. "You WILL BE sadly disappointed"; "this is the BEST thing out there"; "its metal tone SUX", "its metal tone is BITCHIN", etc. Reminds me of the car review I saw recently where the idiot was pissed off because his Ford Fiesta wouldn't do 0-60 in 5.5 seconds.
That said---I really CAN'T gig with this thing; despite it's medium-loudness (mine--I repeat, MINE---seems to be putting out about 25-30w per side, according to my SP meter; I don't know about YOURS), the power amp is too noisy at high vol on dirty settings to be usuable. I also foound the digital noise from the effects to be increasingly hissy and annoying as the vol went up. BUT---I've been using it at lower vols for teaching AND recording, and I'm VERY pleased with it from that standpoint (BTW, if you want a GOOD, FAT clean tone, kick the MODE sw from "clean" to "hi-gain" and crank your drive knob DOWN to between 1.5 and 3, depending on your pickups----VERY nice and ballsy).
Personally I like some of the dirty/hard/deathmetal tones I've gotten---but as I said, I don't know about YOURS. I accept what most of you say about your own amps, and I HAVE heard some buzz about quality control, so perhaps all GMX212s are NOT created equal!

Two independent channels.
Interesting feature - evey channel offers the same possibilities, which are 27 different modelled sounds. Two gain channels? No prob.
Effects loop, headphone jack and a handfull of inputs/outputs for recording, mixing external signals, midi control... See Behringer website for more info.
External speaker output - disconnects internal Bugeras.
Footswitch (included) control over FX on/off (set manually and remembered for each channel), tuner (integrated!) on/off (quietens the amp) and channel selection.
Overall presence - very useful. Does it's job very well. Master volume, seperate volumes for both channels.
Integrated TUNER - brilliant, bloody brilliant. Used it a dozen times.
120W RMS - enough for rehearsals and playing live in clubs.
Solid state. Digital are only the effects.
Stereo - the effects are stereo.
Effects - nothing more but 99 presets of choruses, reverbs, delays and combinations of those. Also - rotary, compressor, expander, pitch shifter... You can't change the effect parameters, so there are few delays, few reverbs... Just hope to find a proper sound.

Generally - it can do much, very much for the price.

Basically i bought this thing for a decent clean with a bit power.
I was going to use some stomp boxes... No need to do that. I like to keep things simple. One amp, does everything i need it to do.

Naturally, it doesn't sound fantastic, very deep (it has, however, a nice low end). It sounds a bit sterile, on some settings flat. Still i think the sounds it has to offer are more than proper and convincing.

For the versatility in tone and character, for the value... I give it 9.

Will do for playing heavy without stomp boxes. Will do for blues, modern rock...

Effects - sound a bit cheap. Takes time to find something fine.

This is a 2 channel amp with 99 preset effects, also has amp modeling. This amp has a ton of inputs and outputs on the back(which I use few of but could come in handy in the stuido maybe) Pretty much a standard 2x12 combo in my eyes.

I use a Fender MIM strat with a Duncan Hot Rails in the bridge, and it sounds great with it. The distortion is heavy without being deaith-metalish. I like it alot. It does have alot of noise which has been getting worse and worse with time since i bought it about a year ago. It also seems that the sound gets a lil better as you crank it, only up to about 8 or 9, but this amp is loud enough to the point where i dont think you would ever need it that high anyway. The effects on this amp are awesome!!! I use them frequently. But i'm currenty going to sell this amp b/c the noise is just unbarable, to me and my band.

I think its pretty dependable, if you can get past the noise issue. I mean, i've tipped mine over 2 or 3 times already, and it still works.(the noise started way before i did this, if youre thinking im an idiot and that is the reason for the noise.) I have gigged with this amp, and it did a pretty decent job i must say. I just miked the amp, and the mic didnt pick up much of the noise so... I didnt complain.

Never dealt with them, but my friends own alot of behringer stuff, and they have only had to deal with them a few times, but they were awesome ppl to work with.

I have only been playing for 4 years now, but I have been in 4 bands, and done sound for 3 others. And i gig regularly(once or twice a week). So I think I have a decent ear for quality. This amp woud be good for a beginner or advanced player. But for the pro, i dont think so. I compared this to crate's and peaveys, but bought this b/c of its price(got a deal on ebay). If it were stolen, i would prolly buy a Crate, or maybe a Fender. I love the effects, but overall, the noise kinda kills my love for this amp.

this amp isnt too versatile for my liking, it can only do a good clean sound and light crunch. i suppose its ok, and has the sheer brute force that i need, but apart from that, nothing special.

2 channels, 2nd one seems to have slightly more gain and feeds back easier than the other.

99 effects presets, although most of them are crap because you dont have that much control over them, but i suppose thats what MIDIs for.

i like the slave input... very good idea, but i havent used it yet because i dont have a preamp.

its digital. i think. it certainly sounds like it (i.e. weak and not natural sounding)

I use a 1987 Fender Stratocaster, and a crap guitar i made from parts... it has a plywood body hahaha.

Doesnt really suit my style, the sound isnt tight enough, its not brutal, it doesnt have the pressure ive heard. its velveeta shit. all digital sounding bollocks. ive heard better sounds from a 30 watt marshall. i should point out that my ideal tone would be Dimebag Darrells crushing sound.

a feature i DO like is the combo simulators... presets 94, 95, & 96.
when played distorted, they sound as if you just blew up a valve of kicked a speaker through. this gets many concerned remarks from people that watch me play... i suddenly hit the effects button and it sounds apocalyptic and they panic. great!!

i dont like many other fx in this amp... the reverb and delay are good. the stack simulators sound tinny.

Made in 2005.........This amp is the perfect package. 2 Channels, with 3 amp simulators, 3 cabs and all the effects you could ever need.
I use this baby for home and gigs in small clubs. It is plenty loud enough to cut through.

I need 2 things.......good thick distortion and a nice clean channel. luckily this amp does both beautifully!!! I have no idea why people say it is noisy.........simply not so. I wonder what amp they are using that is so quiet by comparison.....maybe single coils under a flourescent light aren't a good idea? Anyways.........

The fact I got this for a steal........half price really helps the bang for the buck factor. But I would have paid full price otherwise. Honestly nothing else comes clsoe in price or features......no wonder all of the other vendors we so pissed with Behringer at the NAMM show..........they are all scared, and maybe a little embarrassed. I would buy another one if it was stolen for sure! My single complaint is this.....the internal speakers DO NOT WORK once the extension outputs to a cab are used. Which is so stunned, I cannot figure out why Behringer thought that was good idea. So for me a cab was not an option.

the tone controls and the various speaker/amp simulations. If you want
an amp with 10 pre programed modelled sounds, so you don't have to do
any work buy some thing else. If you know what bass, mid, and treble
do, this amp is a bargain.

well, i wos looking for a versatile amp who give me fat distorted tones like tube ones but at obvius lower price. when i prove it after purchase it i realize that this thing really do his work perfectly with the 2 independent channnels and the onboard 99 efects controlables via footswich, in adiction to the possibility (a must) to incorporate a midi foot controler make of this amp a very powerfull rock box, at this price you cant found something like this. is important to say that the emulating system is analog tecnology non digishit.

i use a Lefty Bcrich XL2, distorted an clean, it fits perfectly playing stoner rock, punk, metal or blues, you can play with the emulating buttons until you found your favorite sounds, fat distorted tones combined with the effects can take you playing for hours, i can say that the "dynamizer" circuitry developed by Behringer works awesome, doing his work perfectly sounding by the 2 vintage buguera Jensen loudspeakers, REALLY-LOUD

i will use on a gig, finally. the thing is extremly well built. a complaint in relacion to that connecting exterior cabinets are put out the internal loudspeakers , that seems me stupid since is lost the possibility of having monitoring

i have being playing for 12 years, its my first 2x12 60W amp, after this i had a marshall valvestate who works okay but too brilliant noise for me. I guess this amp (GMX212) is the best purchase than I have done, a step before the valve amplification !!!
in conclusion, this amp kill all my prejudices againts Behringer brand.

Despite toting 27 different models, this amp does not offer much tonal variety. It goes from totally clean to completely distorted without much in the middle. The clean has little to no brilliance, and very weak presence. The lead channels are a bit better, but there is no slightly overdriven option. Even the British setting on the lowest gain setting gets too distorted. Try the tweed on high gain or hot and it is the same story.

It is listed at 2x50 watts, and it is plenty loud, but it doesn't cut through very well, unless you crank the highs, and that just sounds awful.

Plenty of effects, and I/O options.

I use a Washburn 335 style and an Ibanez EX 3700 with an H/S/H configuration.

Forget about using this amp for any blues/jazz playing. The lead channels lack any bluesy overdrive, and the clean channel (although you can crank it without distortion) is simply too weak to cut through mixes. The EQ is not dynamic enough to really play metal either--the mid control is lacking and the low doesn't come up enough to get a good metal tone.

However, if you just want a lead tone good for heavy rock or nu-metal, this amp does really do the trick. It just doesn't cut through well, so unless you have this thing running through your PA, forget about being heard at a show.

I've actually only found it to be too noisy on the California settings.

This amp has actually only failed in one department since I've had it, and I dealt some damage to it.

The channel tracking for the effects no longer works. Very annoying, especially if you want to switch from lead to rhythm while using any of the Amp Models in the effects section.

Never had a service problem with this amp. It is pretty sturdy.

I bought this thing hoping for at least a wide variety of tones, even if they weren't the greatest sounding. It's hard to beat the price-per-wattage on this amp. However, there really isn't a lot to work with here. The effects are very cheesy, and the lead channels are simply too distorted. The clean is weak, so only expect a good sound out of your pedals if you have a good preamp.

This may be a good first amp for a beginner doing shows who is short on cash. My recommendation if you want a modeling amp, though, is to save around another $200 and look into a Line 6. Totally different league.

Hiss and hum are everywhere in this amp. I dont knhow why people are rating it 10 for sound quality. It sounded good at the start when i bought the amp but i didn'e know much then . Now i hate the sound of it. I play mainly light rock and jazz. It can make different sounds but they all sound so fake and lack depth. CLean channel alsaod distorts if your not carefull.

The distortion can go pretty dirty if you want it to but again it lacks depth and sounds a bit of a mess...

The only good thing about this amp apart from the price is is that its built ot last. I would rely on it any time any place.

If your nwanting any good sound for recording and giging like my self then dont go for it. If your just strummin around in your room with your guitar and want lots of effects and features for a good price then this is the amp for you.

This amp was made in 2005 and is very feature friendly. There are many controls and switches to get you sound...2 channels each with thier own controls for drive, bass, mid, treble, and level, as well as swtches for modeling amps, modes, and speakers. As if that were not enough, you also have a rotary knob to access 99 preset effects that can be further tweaked with a midi footswitch...there is also a very useful tuner as well as a presence control and of course master volume.

I cannot hink of anything else that this amp needs...it is rather like a Line6 amp with panache:o)

This amp is capable of sounding like anything you want...all you really need is patience and talent.

I use many guitars with this amp...a kramer striker fr400 with dimarzio x2n in the neck and bridge and fast track 2 in the middle, a jay turser jt137 (a 335 style guitar), an olp mm4, an ibanez s430 with dimarzio virtual vintage heavy blues ans solo pickups, a fender jazzmaster, jaguar, and mustang...all of them sound excellent through this amp.

It suits my music style perfectly...I play jazz, pop, rock, christian/worship, latin, ethnic, just about every genre of music and this amp sounds beautiful with all styles of music...especially all forms of rock...but it is in no means limited to rock.

The amp can be a little noisy depending on your settings, especially with high levels of gain...you can hear some air or hissing when everything is quiet but when the music is going there is absoluetly no noise but what you play.

This amp will model any sound you want, any style of music is capale with this amp with the right guitar and talent of course. The clean channel stays clean even at high volomes and the distortion rips like nothing I have ever known...it is clean when you want and distorted when you want.

I have heard many people complain about the amp not bing very clean...I have found this to be completely untrue. I have a couple of very clean sounds at any volume level even with very powerful pickups like the dimarzio x2n...the trick is your mix...try this

This amp is extremely reliable...it is built extremely well and with a great deal of quality and care. I would use it on a gig with absolutely no reservations...never ever ever gig without a backup, no matter how great your gear is or much your gear costs.

Veey friendly and professional...they tell you whant you need and are ther for you when you need them.

I have been playing for 12 years now and I used to own a polytone mini brute II until I found this amp...it is way more versatile than the polytone which is what I wanted, more versatility. The polytone is an excellent amp it is just not versatile enough for me...now I have excatly what I want in an amp.

If ot were lost or stolen i would efinately buy this amp again...I love everything and hate nothing about it...it is a wonderful amp. I compared this amp to Line6, Crate, Fender, Marshall, Mesa Boogie, SWR, Ampeg, Peavey, it wins above all of them...and you get all the tube tone you could ever want without all the hassle of the tubes.

With any of the above amps I tried you only sounded like that one amp, with this behringer gmx212 you can sound like all of them as well as anything else out there. For my sound...the GMX212 is it:o)

I wish it had an acoustic sound setting, but it has chorus, phaser, flanger, stereo tremelo, auto-wah, and several other very cool effects.

I am using a Fender "Fat strat" and a LTD Viper (SG Style) with humbuckers. Hum is a factor with this amp on single pickups on several settings. Can get major feedback that can kill if you use the 95 or 96 effect setting with "hot" switch (you can see it if you try it-- it will make people beg for mercy).

Distortion is very brutal if you want it that way. Clean is very clean but also can be quiet. you really have to experiment to get the sound you want, but it can model nearly anything.

I have never had a problem in 1 year of 2-3 times weekly gig use.

I have been playing acoustic for 25 years until I decided to get back into electric. I had a Marshall practice amp for a while and bought the Behringer because I could get 90% of a Line6 ($700) or Fender Cyber ($1500) for a fantastic price.

If it was stolen, I would buy another one to replace it in a heartbeat. I wish it came with a cover but Behringer doesn't even sell one. I don't want a Fender cover on my Behringer amp, but, you can get one.

For the price, this is the best amp on the market.

I guess this has to get a 10. It's got a multi-FX kind of thing on it, plus you can use MIDI controller pedals to alter the multi-FX selection and parameters. The guitar input feeds two separate preamp channels which both have the same options, so you have more choices than just clean/dirty. There's an FX loop, a tape loop and extra clean inputs for a CD player/mixer/whatever, and a headphone jack if you want it (although who uses a headphone jack with an amp?). And there's 120W of juice which is enough personal amplification for any sane mortal! Plenty of features. However, see below for reservations.

Basically, the preamp settings suck. The "clean" option is clean, and the "drive" knob just sets the volume. Simple. Then we get onto the other amp-modelling options, and here's where it falls apart. There is *no* option for light overdrive, nothing that sounds like a tube amp with some crisp OD to brighten the sound up. With the "drive" knob on 1, *every* setting bar none gives you massive distortion. If massive distortion is what you want then fine, but this is *not* musical. Turn the drive up, and you can actually hear the electronics saturating (anyone who's heard an op-amp saturating knows what I'm talking about). Sorry, no.

Luckily I have a Korg AX1500G multi-FX pedal which is superlative, so I don't need the amp to do *any* sound processing. I bought it for 120W of speaker output, and that's all I use it for. The FX pedal goes straight into the "slave" input on the amp (which would usually be used for a CD player or whatever), and that's that. If anyone is planning on using this as their primary source of sound modification, please, run don't walk. Or better yet, buy a good multi-FX pedal (the AX1500G is wonderful) and the Behringer - the pair will set you back about #300, which is still a reasonable price for 120W of amplification and all the sounds you can eat.

I've not had it long, but it feels like a rock. No worries there.

In summary, sadly flawed. 120W of amplification for #170 is a fantastic deal in anyone's books - it's just a shame their amp models are so damn one-dimensional. If you just want it for the amplification (like I did), then it's 10/10. The slave inputs take a sound and amplify it right through the wall, no worries - a lovely pair of speakers. But if you want the sound-mangling side of it to make your guitar sound good, you're going to be sadly disappointed. Unless you only ever want to play nu-metal, you're screwed.

I bought this amp new in 2004 on the internet. The first one I got was DOA after an hour of playing, oops it just locked up and nearly made me go deaf jamming with the headphones on, it started squealing very loudly. Oh well, it was replaced no questions asked. My current amp works great, no issues at all. Its got plently of versatile functions for me. The outputs on the back have come in handy every day since I've owned this amp. The channel switching is less than desirable when using FX's, be prepared for a delay unless your using the same effect on both channels. Gotta love the tuner, its pretty accurate. Very nice piece of equipment with all the inputs and then some that my marshall had.

What can I say, I loved the down and dirty saturation and dirt at very low volumes (of course thats not gonna happen with tubes) I was living in a situation at the time when low level jamming was a must. Now I can proudly crank her up to my hearts content. Now I enjoy the nice tweed setting cranked up with a warm humbucker bite. Great with lots of reverb. Overall very good quailty at nearly all levels. The effects do suffer at drummer like volumes, they need to be cut off or backed off alot IMO anyway.

Well accidents do happen and some amps are junk before they reach your door. (Yeap the first one lasted a couple hours) Got it replaced no problem very fast. I don't hold it against anyone. Its been hauled around in the back of my truck and its still in one piece so I'd say its worthy. No more worring about fragile tubes getting smashed to bits.

Been playing over 7 years now, I am very proud of my accomplishments. I have a very broad range of styles. A giant melting pot of infuences from SRV all the way to Malmsteen. Blues to classical melodic metal, I love it all! This amp will forever be in my rig, its recording abilities are far superior to much more expensive equipment I've owned. Gotta love the line outs. I even hook up the drum machine to it for solo jamming. Nice. Its been a good little amp over the last year and a half. From marshall to behringer, I've been converted.

I bought theis amp in June 2004 when my princeton 65 died for the 4th time. I decided that i would get a 2x12 because the other guitarist in the band i'm in had just gotten a spider and was blowing the 60 watt 1x12 away with his 2x12. This amp is incredibly versatile with 27 amp models available on each channel. 2 channels allows me to set a great clean and great distorted sound . Also 99 FX all digital 24bit sound.
this is an "Anolog Modeling" amp which i guess means it is solid state but whatever. the FX are somewhat limited in their use for my style but they are good to have for those spur of the moment things just dont lose the manual or you will have no idea which fx is which.

I use either a strat with the standard single coils or an SG with 57 humbuckers. This amp should suit everyones style well as you can get almost any sound you can think of. (Remember your tone is in your hands)
when i use it there is the expected amp hum but i play maybe 6 inches from the amp when practicing so any amp would hum. When used in performance it is quiet and loud. The contrls on theis amp are extremely sensative. A slight movement can change the tone radically so be sure to memorize your settings. the FX sound really good although i dont use most of them. the reverbs are fantastic. now to the amps. the tweed setting is quiet unles you turn the gain all the way up. with both gain and volume all the way up there is just a subtle hint of breakup but not breakup yet. to get completely clean turn the level down to 9. That was for the tweed setting only all the other amps are a bit more dirty. What sold me on this amp was the California setting. with this setting i was able to get the exact sound of my vintage ampeg reverborocket without the threat of electrocution. SCORE!!!! as for the distorted sounds it can go from the cusp of breakup to so much gain that metal heads would turn the gain down. I use the british setting with high gain and UK cab to get that Marshal turned up to ten hendrix live sort of sound.

this amp is extremely versatile and the best thing is that it soesn't sound solid state but actualy gets tube emulation right and makes you think there are glowing red tubes behind you.

Haven't had any problems yet but I always gig with backup just because you never know what could happen. the input jack was not fited well but i superglued the washer to the jack (carefully so as not to get any in the jack) because i had a gig that night and there was no time to find another washer.

I have been playing guitar since i was nine ( i'm 18) and electic guitar since i was 11. I have always been a tube freak. I played solid state amps mainly for their reliability onstage but always recorded with my tube amp. That is why i love this amp as it actually sounds like a tube amp and not a model. Ilove it and would not hesitate to by anaotehr if it was stolen. I compared it to the Fender FM 212 and stage160 amps but found that this one sounded much better and was cheaper to.

Great amp if you have problems with it's sound then keep tweeking the EQ is incredably diverse and might not be the same settings as you are used to dialing in.

For 275, you can't comlain. If you want a cheap amp that has some great sounds this can't be beat. It destroys anything else in its price range. I wouldn't call it a true modeling amp, as it does not have near as many options as the more expensive ones. but its very versatile, being able to get a good range of clean all the way to heavy distortion. The tone controls are also very powerful and sensitive adding to this versatility. Having built in effects is nice to have, not that it replaces effects pedals and all, but then it is the least expensive 2 12 amp combo you can buy, so I consider it a bonus that it even has them at all. The reverbs sound pretty good, so that makes me happy.

On the whole I really love the tone I get from it. I have owned fenders, marshall stacks, mesa boogie, ect, and I have to say for a cheap solid state amp I really am pleased with the tone in this regard. For your money you can't buy a better sounding amp, in this price range. It works well with both my strat and les paul. keep in mind that the eq is very sensitive and needs to be dialed in precisely, each knob has a tremedous ammount of gain and cut.

I find this amp extemely with a Vox tone lab SE. I simply plug the output of the vox tone lab into the Effects Return, which bypasses the preamp but still allows me to adjust the master volume. By turning up the volume on my tonelab all the way up I was able to get a nice powerful sound out of it. Very warm. Great practice amp, good for small gigs, (would be fine for larger gigs if it was mic'd through the pa. )

It takes some tweeking, but honestly, it's the closest thing to having a Marshall JCM and Mesa Dual Rectifier in the same room. You won't get the full force of this amp until you get the FCB1010 footcontroller. Geez, it's $175 at the most -- just do it.

I keep reading reviews submitted by guys who had Behringer's go south on them. One guy said he had SEVEN AMPS go bad. I think we're talking about user error here. I started playing when I was 10 in 1976, and I've never blown or burned up an amp. Not once... Replaced lots of speakers, tubes and fuses though. I always up-sized my amps for the gigs I played.

If you're burning up your amps, you need to step up to a higher wattage -- bottom line. The GMX212 is just barely loud enough to gig with in a tiny small club. Anything over 100 people and you need a 100 watt half stack at the minimum.

Excellent amp for home studio, practice, rehearsal in a small space, and small gigs. Not built or intended for a real gig in a big club. Folks, if you're gigging regularly, you can afford to pony up more than $300 for your amplification.

Bought this recently as a spare to my Fender Tweed Blues Deluxe, as it has a habit of cutting out, which i have now repaired!! I has way too many features to go into but if you want two sounds then this is the amp for you. HOWEVER and it is a big however

Trying to make sense of the FCB controller for the effects is next to worthless as the instructions are hopeless, unless that is you have a deep understandng of MIDI but some of the presets are good.
It can be noisy it can be loud, but mostly if you want more than clean and distorted, look elsewhere, this amp is crap if you want to use inline or looped effects, as said before without a good Preamp, the power amp rear inputs are just not loud enough. HOWEVER...

I Now use my working fender- preamp out- into front panel of Behringer GMX and a little tweaking- I have the sound of GODs very own Guitar rig, it is truly the most awesome sounding set up i have ever heard, call it luck bu ti have discovered it. I use Variax 500 with custom fender neck, (original was rubbish) Korg AX1000G and Frender Blues Deluxe Tweed 40W.
with this set up I can recreate almost any guitar amp sound ever, I will be forever surprised....

I bought this Feb. 2005. This amp is pretty amazing for the price. I play mainly rock like Greenday, Foo fighters, Pennywise, and also classic rock. It is 2 channels and it includes the footswitch to change channels and turn FX on/off. Includes an effects loop, which was disappointing, and is the reason for a 7 instead of a 10. I will usually hook up my GNX2 preamp with my other amps using the fx return. Although this amp has an input for this, it's just not loud enough. Unless I'm missing something...But I doubt it. I do this with all my amps. Lots of in/out options. I use this amp in a large garage with a loud drummer and bass player. No problem keeping up(if I'm plugged straight it, no digitech GNX2). 100 watts. It has effects built in which can be programed to change with channel switching, but there may be a gap when switching channels if you use them. Has a MIDI in too, Haven't used it yet. Oh, the channel switching is not the smoothest most seamless in the world.

I play Ibanez guitars with Dimarzios or Seymour Duncans. The amp is a little noisy on high gain settings. Not too bad though. You have 3 amp models, three gain settings and 3 cabinet settings on each channel. BUT! You can't change them with the footswitch. Too bad...
Good distorion, and plenty of it. I like a little dirt on my clean channel, and it sounds great with a lush chorus in the effects.

No problems so far. I would gig out with it. No tubes to worry about, but I do hear some horror stories about Behringer. My bass player bought a Brand New Behringer 1X15 cab, and within 3 hours it died. His replacement is fine. I think Behringer may have a quality control issue. If you get a bad one, you're screwed. But if you get a good one, you'll be fine.

Emailed Behringer once about another product and NEVER received a response.

Been playing for 25 years. I also own a Peavey 5150 combo and a Rocktron Replitone 2X12 combo. Also have a VHT 2X12 combo. I like to use my Digitech GNX2 because I have a lot of effects and sounds programmed, but not with this amp because of the lack of volume when bypassing the amps preamp and slaving off the power amp. If something happened to this amp, I don't know if I would buy it again, only because there are a lot of choices these days. I may go for a VOX valvetronics. A lot more money though.
The only weaknesses with this amp are the effects loop/slave in. You can't get nearly enough volume if you use a preamp IN situation. I tried it with my Digitech GNX2. All my other combos produce much more volume with the effects return connection. Also, it would've been great if you were able to switch guitar models from the footswitch.
For the money, a 2X12 100watt amp, with effects, channel switching, effects loop(although weak), MIDI and a few more in/outs. Footswitch included! You can't beat this value. And it sounds good.

Bought the amp second hand off ebay, cost me #170. I didnt expect much to be honest, just wanted a loud amp with a 2x12 speaker set up and thats exactly what I got. Standard 2 channel amp, footswitch yada yada, you already know what it can do.

I hate the sound of this amp. I bought it purely to use as a slave amp for my POD XT and it does the job very VERY well. The inputs on the back of this amp are amazing for the money. Im runnin a POD in stereo thru the amp, so im basically using the power amp and the speakers, nothing to do with the pre amp or the channels. The amp is so versatile in this sense, more so than anything I have ever seen for the money. Its loud, its solid, its light, its just what you need if you dont want to carry a half stack around.

I get loads of noise when using the amp itself, ie pluggin direct to the amp. im told its the amp pickin up dodgy electrical signals from my dodgy house wiring, but i think thats a cop out....Even with the lead unplugged i get a nasty hissing, which incidently, stops when you give it a firm whack on the top.....(I know where the dodgy wiring is) But used as a slave amp, no problems at all. One thing thats kinda strange is when using the slave LEFT RIGHT inputs, the amp cannot dictate the volume at all, its all controlled by the FX unit. Not a major problem, but I was kinda surprised by that.

I like this amp, a lot, i have a POD XT with 2 twelve inch speakers basically. The amp doesnt interfere with the sound, it just pumps it out. Its solid enough, rocks the walls in here when pushed, what more could you ask for. Used as a stand alone amp, id really really think twice. The lead tones are impressive at first, but then you realise they are unuseable. The clean tones are so damn quiet, and you have to physically change the amp setting if you want more than two sounds. Its loud, its dirty however, so depending on your style this might be right up your street.

The amp has 2 channels, each identical so you can set both on distortion or clean, which is very useful in some cases.

Also it has loads of very useful effects such as reverb, delay, chorus, phaser, to cabinet modelling etc, all stored in the 99 presets. For each preset you can change the degree at which the effect affects your sound but you need a seperate midi pedal or a software if you want to edit the presets, but i find the presets to be varied enough. Also the effects are channel specific so you can give your clean some delay and set your distortion on reverb for an example.

BUT there is a one major problem with using the effects. If you set different effects for each channel, there's this VERY ANNOYING DOUBLE PAUSE when changing channels. Basically the amp changes the effects right after changing the channel, not simultaneously, and there's a slight pause in each of those changes. So when you change a channel, there will be a slight pause, some sound, effect change, which introduces another pause, and then sound again. It is a major flaw that must be addressed. I get around it by setting the same effect for both channels which solves the problem, but the channel switching still seems slower than average.

Other than that, the IO features are impressive, effect loop, cabinet out, line out, line in with level control, tape in/out, headphone out etc.

Also there's an included foot pedal that lets you switch channels and turn the effects or the built in tuner on/off.

I'm using an ibanez RG with dimarzio tonezone and airnorton at the bridge and neck respectivly, with nothing in between the amp and the guitar.

The distortion is amazing on this thing! Unlike many solid state amps with harsh distortion, this one sounds like a tube amp! Also the amp can go really loud with distortion. For heavy distortion you can set your amp on either british or california amp model, with british sounding like marshall and the other mesa. You can change the cabinet type too from flat, UK, and US. Flat doesn't sound so good to me so i never use it. UK has more highs while US has darker, bassier sound. The distortion settings can be changed from clean, high-gain to hot. There isn't much difference between high-gain and hot and you can't get great cleans with brit and calf amp models but the clean setting on Tweed amp model more than makes up for it.

Tweed amp model provides very nice clean sound. However, it can?t go very loud if you want to be crystal clean in which case, you?ll need to set ur clean level at max and distortion level at around 2 or 3, greatly decreasing the overall volume you can get out of the amp. However, even with that hit it can go against a loud drummer when jamming. When tweed model is used with high-gain or hot, you can get this slightly distorted sound which sounds VERY nice. It reacts well with your picking so it distorts more when played hard, like a real tube amp.

The amp is versatile and seems to suit many styles, i myself play alternative, punk, indie and some metal which the amp does very well in. I?ve had other people play on this amp who?s music style range from blues to older rock, and they all thought it sounded great.

One minor problem is that the amp is noisier than average when lots of gain is used. But the advantages far outweighs this small problem.

I haven't had it for a long time but the amp seems to be built solidly, although the knobs seem a bit flimsy. The included foot pedal is made of plastic and seems cheap but that can be replaced easily.

Haven't had the chance to deal with them yet. And i sure hope i won't

I'm a beginner who's been playing for 2 years. I've been using vox tonelab for practicing at home and when jamming used a fender 50watt amp (solid state) or a mesa boogie dual recto.

I just love the sound and the price. One major fault would be the effects affecting the channel switching but since i'm not a heavy user of effects it's fine with me, and i'm used to switching slightly earlier than usual now.

I was thinking of buying a marshall avt series amp but after playing with one in a gig, i changed my mind. Being a high school student stuck with a small budget who can't afford tube amps, i've looked into the line6 spider series but i don't really like the sound my friend's pod xt can produce (plus i can't get one locally here) so i just bought this behringer and i'm really glad i have.

It's a steal for the price and i'd definitely buy it again if it broke. And i'd actually pay more for this amp if behringer fixes the channel switching problem. If they do that, it'd be the perfect amp and i'd give it a 10.

I like the fact that it dosen't have a clean channel and a distortion channel. You get everything on both channels which is sweet. The effects are 'ok'. The power this thing has is amazing. LOUD!

I don't like how the amp switches channels! It has a very un-natural delay and strange things happen to the guitar signal when changing channel. You can't be playing a song and at the next beat switch to a distorted sound or even just a different effect. That REALLY sucks and that is the ONLY thing that I don't like about this amp hence the low rating on features. THAT NEEDS FIXED BEHRINGER!!!

I use an Epiphone Les Paul with standard humbuckers. I am running a POD xt Live into the slave input which bypasses the Behringer preamp. The Jensen speakers they chose have very little flavor to them (which is a good thing). I can run the POD xt Live with the "Direct" setting and it sounds awesome. I play blusey rock so haveing a twin rocks. I tryed the internal distortions on the amp though and they are VERY usable. The amp models sound good and the same with the speaker models.

Haven't used it a whole lot. Still messing around with it. It is very sturdy. Very heavy too. I am going to mount some casters on it.

I would buy it again if something happened to it. I think that you can't get anything better for that kind of money. Tell everybody about this amp.

I am on my 3rd GMX110 and my 4th GMX212. They have all failed. The GMX110 had problems with no or low outputs in the tape/rec out and the GMX212 fails to switch channels and produces incredibly large amounts of hum when I use my telecaster.

My dealer is so racked off with these Behringer amps he has now stopped stocking them due to the returns he is getting. We both agree it is a crying shame because these amps do sound so good.

I tried 7 !!!! Behringer amps and none worked, I think it is time I threw the towel in :(

Throughout my problems and those of many others, the key word was always swapout. It would have been good if Behringer looked at why these amps fail so much and modifed the product to work.

This is a follow-up to my review of 12/29/04.

On 12/29, my GMX-212 stopped switching between channels after less than 4 months of use in my apartment. (No gigging.) The amplifier became useless!

I took it promptly to the place I bought it, Guitar Center, got a repair order, etc. After the normal GC delay, the amp was sent to a good, experienced local musical electronics repair shop that had just become the local Behringer repair site. The repair shop had the amp for several weeks, trying this and that with no luck.

Finally, Behringer decided to replace my amp with a new one. I got the new one on February 18, 2005. So, I was without a GMX212 for about six weeks. Luckily, I have another amp.

The up-side is Behringer did the right thing and replaced my original amp when no one was able to fix it.

The down-side is it puts its reliability in question. Will I get, at least, 1 year out of the new one before a failure? If it fails, will it be repairable?

The failure of my first amp has spooked me. Was it a random infant mortality failure or am I only one of many? Will the new amp fail?

I wish the schematics for this amplifier was part of the User's Manual or available on-line.

i purchased this one from muscians friend in july 2004. free shipping.i really like this amp.i still can't believe the feature's on this modeling amp..99 yes 99 preset's,sure there's redundency but the echo's are really goog,the chorus beautiful,the overdrive really amazing..

you can tweak any sound your looking for out of this amp.2 seperate channels with a foot switch included,3 distinct setting's for each channel..amp,mode and speaker.there's alot here,amazing for the money.i do think the tweed setting a little weak,but it still is plenty loud enough.you can get around this by setting to tweed-higain-flat...awesome.

i have had no problems at all,i know i can depend on this amp without a backup.and i've put this amp thru a heck of a test,still even smell's new.

i have not had to contact them for any service but i know there web site is very informative and user friendly.

i have been playing for well over 20 year's now,i love this amp for blue's playing .you can get that beautiful woman tone crunch very easy and at any volume out of this amp.one thing i wish it had was 3 channel's,i bet that's coming next..i am really impressed with this analog modeling amp and am looking forward too behringer's new product's. i am now a devoted fan...thank's for makeing a quality product we can actually aford and use...

2004 Made in China (what isn't these days?)The GMX212 has such a versatile tone shaping section, (two of them actually), that you can simulate the sound of many popular amps.
Two channels, INCLUDED footswitch, and the most flexible in/out section I've ever seen on an amp. 99 built-in 24 bit digital effects. A midi foot controler can be used for effects changes, wah and chanel switching. The Dynamizer circuitry allows the amp to "breathe" like a tube amp pushed hard.
2-12" Jensen/Bugerra speakers well-suited to the flexibility of the amp.
Between the ANALOG amp modeling and the effects, you can come up with
anything from raw, scooped mid aggressive to polished "heard it on the CD" types of sounds fairly easily.

I use a Gibson SG, an Ibanez Steve Lukather with coil taps and an Ibanez SZ series with the ability to do coil tapping. In adition, I've used my daughter's Behringer Strat copy through the amp with great results.
I play blues, rock, metal, and worship and praise with an edge. The amp is well suited to any of these styles.
Like most amps, If you get up close with single coil pickups, you'll get hum, especially if you have the gain up fairly high. A bit of distance is the best cure for that.
The absolute clean setting is a bit weak, but since I like a little grit in my clean sound, it has never been an issue. Try Tweed/High/UK setting with the gain set fairly low, so it breaks up when you push it hard. you can get really loud this way, and still get a touch sensitive clean sound.
The high gain sounds will melt your face. You can get wild with this amp, yet it still sounds musical.

The amp seems pretty sturdy. Knobs are surface mount to the PC board, (like 99% of the gear out there), but as long as you don't drop it on the control panel, you'll be OK.
I would use this without a backup, but I still throw my Pandora PX4 in the gig bag, just in case.
Behringer gear sometimes gets a bad rep, but I think that is due to the sheer number of units sold. If you have sold 100 amps and 1% has troubles, its not a big problem. Now sell a hundred thousand or a million amps, and that 1% is a huge number relative to the smaller production amp.

Emailed questions have been quickly returned. If I need to return it for service, Beringer says to take it back to the dealer. In this case, its Sluggo Music in Tacoma. They get 10 out of 10 points!
If it needs to go back, there are several repair centers in Washington state.
The unit is covered by a one-year warranty.

I have been playing for 40 years, and have used Fender, Marshall and othe high, (and not so high), quality gear. This is the best-sounding, most flexible amp I have used for the price, or even 3 times the price.
If lost or stolen, I would definately replace it as soon as possible.
I love the sound this thing puts out. I end up with a smile on my face every time I play through it.
