This amp would get a 10 rating if it sounded like it was supposed to. It has two channels "Heaven" and "Hell." If you can't tell Heaven is supposed to be the clean channel and it sounds like crap. Hell is supposed to be the overdrive and it sounds like crap. Neither channel deserves the name. The Heaven channel would make you think that it is a really great sounding clean, but it is crap. The Hell channel you would think would make this awesome Dimebag Darrel or something like that distortion, but instead you get this really weak crappy sound that cannot even be described as an overdrive. I used to just use this amp with the "Hell" overdrive knob all the way down. This meant that I had two different clean channels with a different effects preset for each one. The effects themselves actually sound alright. If there was a way to just use this amp as a effects unit it would sound great. They tell you that it has "TransTube" technology that is supposed to make it sound like a tube amp. When you use the tube emulation feture it almost just seems to change the volume of it. It actually does improve the tone very very marginally, but what they don't tell you is that you can't use any of the other effects with it, so it is kind of useless. I hate digital effects anyway.

Sound Quality : 2
The sounds of the amp without the effects are really cheasy. It sounds like total crap. The effects themselves deserve a 10 rating for digital effects, but the rest of the amp gets a -8 so that makes a 2 rating.

Reliability : No Opinion
I can't really rate this I only had it for 4 weeks, but everyone else that really pushes it and uses it at a gig says that it is crap.

Never dealt with them, but I did get to download the manual easily.

I sell on eBay so I bought this amp in a package. I got this amp a Washburn WG587 and a Behringer V-amp2(ironically the effects in the V-amp thing sounded like crap, but the amp models were okay exactly the opposite of this amp) for $250. It wasn't a bad deal. The Washburn WG587 and the V-amp2 got $300 together. However, after I bought the package from the guy I thought to just keep the amp and sell my current amp (a Laney GC30.) I did get $150 for my old amp, but it sounded way better than this amp. It would have been the biggest mistake ever when it comes to tone, but a friend told me that there was a used Laney in guitar center. I took this Behringer up there and traded it for a Laney GC50-A. Now I have an amp that has both acoustic and electric channels and WAAAAAYYYYYY better tone (I call it tone of the gods actually.) What's funny is guitar center gave me a $100 credit for the amp and it only sell for $40-$60 on eBay. The only good thing about this amp is that it helped me realize what effects that I do need and what I don't.

It is a 60w amp and it has 99 effect. Most of them are very good but some of them useless. Also I like the virtube technology.

Sound Quality : 8
I use this amp with my carvin dc400 and ibanez rg370dx and the clean channel has a realy nice clean.
Drive channel has a wonderful drive but you shouldn't try high gain becouse it is too noisy and it is not good. However, with low gain it has a really good drive. It is perfect for rock, jazz, blues but you can not play metal or hard things becouse it has a vintage amp character so its distortion is sucks.
It has 99 effects and most of them are really good but some effects are really useless.

Reliability : 10
I use this amp for over 2 years and it never fails and I always use it without backup.

I like my amp but now I am becoming a pro so I want to change it with a tube amp but for all these years I always like my amp and its sound.
If it were stolen or lost, I would buy a tube amp,but before this year If it were stolen or lost, I would buy anotherone..

Well, like they've all said, 2 channels (clean/dirty), 3-band EQ, digital FX, stereo line-outs, aux-in, headphone jack that cancels speaker, etc...

In *theory*, this thing should be all you need, ever. However, the '99' effects are actually 20 effects mix-matched (to allow more than one at a time, i.e. chorus+reverb), and switching between them without a midi board is cumbersome and annoying. The tweakability of (some of) the effects is pretty nice, though.

Mine came with Jensen speakers, which was nice.

Sound Quality : 7
I'm playing a semi-hollow 335-style Washburn and a Telecaster. Both sound decent through this amp.

Someone had complained that their clean channel got distorted beyond '4'; I do not have that problem. I do, however, see the amp's "limiter" light blip on if I'm banging on it excessively hard in the 6-7 range. Still sounds clean, though. Overall, the clean channel is actually it's strong point. It's warm, responsive and relatively transparent (it doesn't color your guitar like some cleans do).

The dirty channel seems to be the most common complaint. Most people don't dig it; it's actually pretty mellow, and doesn't really deserve the title of "hell". It sounds a lot warmer than your average solid-state distortion, but it still isn't as "pretty" as a tube amp's overdrive; it's somewhere in between. It's good for blues or rock, but if you want harder rock/metal sounds, you're going to have to add something else to the mix. I add some shred with a Korg FX processor and a few Boss fuzz/distortion stomp boxes in the FX loop, and it works great.

The reverbs are good; the phaser/flange is passable. A couple of other FX are okay, but I don't really use them. The noise gate successfully gates the noise. Wouldn't recommend much else... I mostly use my Korg for my FX (chorus, delay, wah, etc); the only ones I use on the amp itself are the noise gate on the dirty channel and reverb or phaser on the clean channel.

Reliability : 7
I gig with it, but that's out of necessity. If I had a different amp, I'd probably use that instead. I've heard a lot of bad things about the reliability of these amps, and it's made me paranoid. It's never broken down, though. Sounds exactly the same as when I got it.

Customer Support : No Opinion
No idea. Heard it's pretty crappy, though.

Overall Rating : 7
I've been playing for 6 years now; this is my third amp. If it were lost or stolen, I'd honestly probably try and find something better. No offence to it; it was a gift, and I do like the way it sounds. Being a solid-state and being in it's price range, it's great. But I think I want to buy a tube amp next.

pretty easy to use but extremly heavy for a combi

Sound Quality : 6
poor compared to marshall and fender amps, the sound is not clean or rich and the distortion is too tinny. if you have a gibson guitar then it might be your thing but with a quality guitar like a fender of ibanez its not great, however the amp is chap compare to rivals

Reliability : 2
the power amp borad blew on mine just outside the waranty period so not great reliabilaty. i would not use this amp for anythig other than practice. i should point out it is chinese made

none existent from Behringer, thats the only way of putting it. when it broke gak.co.uk where i bought it from offerd to replace it, but the cost of postage, which i would have to pay was too high

because of poor sound and the fact it stoped working after just one year my view of the overall rating is not great. the price was good but as they say u get wat you pay for and i would recommend anyone buying an amp should pay the extra and get somthing like a marshall it will sound better and work for longer.

I have this amp for over one and a half year, and I use it for practicing. I like this amp, I think it's very good for the money I paid for it (about $320). But I don't want to write down the features, sound quality, etc..., because others already did this. I want to write about the technical side of the amp. After the warranty expired, I got a screwdriver in my hand, and started to disassemble the stuff. When I picked out the chassis, I stared for 5 minutes continuously. What I saw? Small PCBs (Printed Circuit Board, a.k.a.: circuit panel). The power amplifier circuit is on the same panel with the power supply circuit, and this is only 7 x 5 cm, and the power amplifier circuit only takes up the 15% of it. The power amplifier is based on an IC (Intagrated Circuit) LM3886T (http://www.ortodoxism.ro/datasheets/nationalsemiconductor/DS011833.PDF)
This IC produces 68 Watts of power at +/- 28V supply voltage, 4Ohm load, 38 Watts of power at +/- 28V, 8Ohm load, and 50 Watts at +/- 35V, 8Ohm.
I don't know, how much power comes out from the IC in the Behringer, but the label on the power transformer gives some information:

Pri: 115-230V 50/60Hz 110W
Sec: 10V 0.25A
52.5VCT 1.4A

The 52.5V is 26.25 + 26.25V, which is over 37V after rectifying and puffering. So it looks like the Blue Devil doesn't produce it's advertised 60 Watts, but gives 50 Watts which is still enough for small gigs and much more than enough for practicing.
After all, the whole circuitry is made precisely, and I think it will last for a long time. If not, I hope the repairing will be easy, because the whole construction is excellently built up.
Afterall, I offer this cheap, versatile and dependable combo for the ones who do not have much money, but wants a good mate for making music.

If anyone has questions about the technical side of this amp, or wants to look inside photos of the amplifier, just throw me a mail: flathead1932@yahoo.com

I rated this amp quite a while back, so this is just an update, with some interesting info.
First of all, I have been using this amp for small gigs and at a weekly jam at a small bar locally that draws in a lot of good talent. I normally use the Behringer with an effects board ( TS-7, compressor, chorus, volume pedal). I use a variety of guitars, but most often a Tradition Jerry Reid model ( telecaster style).
I have had 3 different occasions where I have been playing with very talented guitarists who were using fender rigs. All three times it was Telecasters and Fender 2x12 amps, and other musicians would walk right past the dudes with all of the big dollar fender stuff to tell me how impressed they are with the way my setup sounds. ( one guy plays a guitar style similar to Albert Lee and has an expesnive SKB rack of effects).
A dude has been showing up to the jams , he does a lot of Hendrix and other blues, and is using EMG active pickups in a strat. He was very curious about the amp, was quite impressed with the sound. I let him do a set using my amp, while I sat in the audience and DAMN! With those EMG pickups that little Behringer amp sounded HUGE. I have every intention of getting some active EMGs to use with this amp.
Secondly, I am not suggesting anyone do this, but I put a paralell output jack on this amp and built a matching cab with an old 15" alnico speaker. I understand this has ( I think) an LM 3886 chip in it, which gets hot when run at 4 ohms, so I cut a hole in the chasis and put a large 120v fan in it, and put a vent on one side of the cab ( out of the chasis area). I put a rocker switch on the front so I can turn the fan on when I use the 15 and go at 4 ohms.
The thing cranks when I use it like that. I am probably shortening the life of the chip, but hell, I only paid a little over 100 bucks for the thing, and if it blows putting in another chip is not that big of a deal.
My whole point is, this amp really cranks for smaller gigs. It projects well, and with the right pickups sounds REAL big. I couldn't believe it when I was first getting compliments about it, being as I am on stage with it when it is being used all the time I had not ever heard it until I let the guy at the jam use it. And you really don't know what an amp sounds like standing right in front of it on stage.

Very versatile thanks to the built-in FX and MIDI control. I'll spare you the specs since there are a lot of previous reviews. The AUX IN comes handy not only for practice: if you, like me, hava a MIDI guitar you can have the synth going through the AUX IN and MIX it with the guitar. Not that a single 12' speaker is perfect for synth, but it's good enough.

Sound Quality : 8
The clean channel sounds great. I like the gain channel too, you can get quite a lot of sounds out of it. It's not noisy. Perhaps it lacks character, but I see this amp more as a workhorse, and sound is good enough.
The FX are generic, but a lot of'em. You sure can get a good sound.

Reliability : 10
Had it for almost three years, no problem at all. Very well built and reliable.

Customer Support : 8
As I mentioned in another Behringer review, they have been helpful in the past, but happily I didn't need actual support. I think they're quite good at backing their products.

Overall Rating : 9
A great amp, incredible deal if you consider the money. I don't know if I would replace it with the same if it gets stolen unless I'm short of money as I was when I bought this one: you get a multiFX and an amp: as i said before, a workhorse.
I wish it had separate EQ for each channel. That's why I don't give it a 10

2003 I guess is the year it was made, the feature on the amp are decent , but read on in this review before buying!!!!!

Sound Quality : No Opinion
The amp has a decent sound, with the right pedals, as most any amp.The clean channel gets very distorted at anything over 4.
There is alot of variety in the sounds , but after the first few they all sounds the same.

Reliability : 2
NO!NO!NO!
I am on amp number 3 from the fine folks at behringer. The first one quit after a week of owning, they sent me a brand new one from the factory. It never worked , period. Finally, after over 2 months of waiting I got another one.The new seems ok, but its only been a few days.I would not recommend behringer amps to ANYONE.The price is great but you are much better off spending more on a line 6, or a smaller amp. These amps are very cheaply made, and it shows.I recommend looking elsewhere before buying.

Customer Support : 5
Customer support was good when the first one went down, then when the second never worked, it was a hugely long drawn out process to get my situation resolved.

Overall Rating : 3
The feature are nice esp. for the price but being on #3 the reliability is awful.

This amp comes with a footswitch and effects loops... i'm personally not a fan of digital fx.
Two channels - clean and gain.

Sound Quality : 3
I use this guitar with a fender stang w/noiseless pups/Gibson L6s. The clean channel is ok, but the tone is flat and dull. No sparkle or life in the tone. Quiet for a 15" speaker.
The distorted channel is a disgrace. Absolutely no definition, makes loud random pops, gain knob does nothing, fizzy and harsh.
The effects are sterile and very, well, digital sounding. The flanger sucks... and not much delay time

Reliability : 5
I don't trust this amp. It's broke down on me three times in a row when i was practicing. one time the effects display displayed the number 0, which is not usually selectable.
The amp's cosmetics have already worn down, and i'm not harsh to it

Customer Support : No Opinion

Overall Rating : 4
It's cheap, and big for how cheap it is, but it's not worth it if you care at all about tone. Save up your money for a Vox VR-30 - it outclasses the behringer in every sense.

The features of this amp are great, and for the price they are incredible.Behringer says the amp has 99 differnet effects, really its only around 20 different effects.I purchased the MIDI board and the effects are unbelievable, it truly lets me do what I need to do.
I play mostly heavy music e.g., Slayer Megadeth.I do recommend a distortion pedal, I bought a Hughes&Kettner Warp7 and it makes this baby scream.I am rating the features an 8, but for the price once again they are a ten.

Sound Quality : 7
I play a Dean Baby Z custom with seymour duncan mayhems, have a few others but this is my fav.Its sounds very good through the GX112, on clean and distortion, the distortion for this amp is subpar for me so a pedal is a MUST.I am rating it a 7 for the pussy distortion.

Reliability : 5
I only had this amp for 2 weeks, which I bought as a returned item from musiians friend. It worked excellent, then it stopped everything. No sound ,no humm, no nothing.I called musicaians friend and they would only give me a refund.I called Behringer and explained to the warranty dept. my issues. They handled everything greatly.I sent my amp, which they paid for the shipping, and was sent a brand new amp within 2 weeks.Hopefully, this amp will be more reliable.

Customer Support : 10
I explained the problems I had in the reliabilty section, but for the customer service I would have to give them a 10.I always got responses quickly and they fixed my issue as soon as I sent the amp in to them.Behringer is truly committed to great customer service.

Overall Rating : 7
overall this amp is a great practice/recording amp.It is definitely not loud enough for big stages but it does its job well for a 60 watt amp.The effects are great(buy a MIDI board). If heavy music is your style, geta hughes and kettner warp 7 pedal and she will SCREAM.
Giving this amp a 7 overall for the problems I had, so far the new one is a great amp for the price.

Brand new amp, purchased off an online auction site (Trademe). Two channels - Heaven (Clean) and Hell (Drive). It has channel switching through use of a cheap and nasty footpedal which came with it. It has a great amount of other features, including an effects loop and a headphone jack, among others, which will come in handy if I ever use it in the studio. I use it for rehearsals and for small-scale gigs, and I also use it to amplify my acoustic guitars. It's not particularly powerful for it's rated wattage. My friend has a Fender Frontman 65R (which I don't particularly like) that can get much louder. The Blue Devil often gets lost in the mix and doesn't have enough grunt to compete with the lead guitarist's 100 Watt Marshall MGDFX. The Heaven channel is versatile, and I suppose that some of the low-gain settings on the Hell channel would be alright for blues, but to my ears the drive seems best suited to eighties hair metal (like old Bon Jovi) when pushed past the midway point. I play classic, hard rock, and for this purpose, it doesn't work. I have a BOSS GT-6 now and I get much more suitable drive tones out of that. There aren't really any features I'd add to it - I can't say I use all of the effects, since some of them are pretty crummy. The reverbs are beautiful, but the auto wah sounds like someone shaking a piece of cardboard.

Sound Quality : 7
I'm using a Tokai Les Paul Custom, with the two stock humbucker pickups (PAF-style: not bad, but nothing flash). The amplifier's clean sounds are absolutely beautiful - warm, sparkling and clear. Put a little reverb on there, and you can see why they call it the Heaven channel. However, as I said, the Hell channel just doesn't do it for me. It's a very distinct, unusual overdrive, which I find hard to classify. I would say it almost resembles distortion more than overdrive. It can get quite brutal, but not enough to satisfy nu-metallers. It's not noticeably noisy. For solid-state, and the clean alone, it's good. With the GT-6 running through it, it's excellent value for money, but it lacks power.

Reliability : No Opinion
So far I've had no problems with the reliability of the amp, so I cannot comment. I can't afford to have a 'backup', at least not at the minute. It's treated me well so far, and I have done the same to it.

Customer Support : No Opinion
I haven't dealt with the company, so I can't really say. I've never had to get it repaired or whatnot, but I assume I'd just take it down to the local instrument shop, since they stock this brand.

Overall Rating : 7
I've been playing seriously for about a year now - I've played guitar for my own entertainment for about three years, but it's only recently that I've got into gigging. I own a BOSS GT-6, as I mentioned, which provides the meat of my tone, and I run this through the beautiful clean of the Blue Devil, which makes it sound particularly good. I can't say I would buy this amp again if stolen or lost, despite the value for money. If it was my first amp, for my style, I'd probably go with one of the Marshall MGDFX series, perhaps the 50 Watt one or up. At the moment, I'm on the lookout for a Marshall Jubilee 2555 or 2550, and will be upgrading to tube to get the sound I'm looking for. I love the Heaven channel on the Blue Devil, but hate the Hell. I compared it to a few entry-level amplifiers, including the Marshalls and the Fenders, and went with this. However, this is because I knew I was getting a GT-6, and wanted a nice clean sound to run it through (the GT-6 sounds like shit through an MGDFX). If you're not going to be using modelling sounds, though, go with a Marshall for your dirty sound. All in all, not bad for the cash, and with my GT-6 I get a nice tone. If you happen to be in a hair metal band, this could well be the perfect solid state amp for you.

Mine's from 2004, somebody had returned it 'cause they didn't like it. (I made sure it wasn't defective.) Features already discussed.
I got this because I didn't want to lug my Roland JC-60 to the rehearsal studio every week. I don't leave the Roland anywhere, it's too hard to replace.
I agree with those who say it's not that loud - I have to turn it up almost full to keep up with even 20-watt tube amps. However, I like the basic sounds it gives.

It has an Aux In for practicing to CD's, but I find it's somewhat muffled and hard to hear, at least with my CD Walkman plugged in.

Sound Quality : 8
I'm using it for classic rock and blues, mostly thru Teles, but I also use a Schecter C-1+ and it's OK too. I don't care for the distortion on the Hell channel that much, but I tried plugging an old DOD FX-55B Overdrive Plus into the clean channel, and I like the sounds I get that way. I use the Hell channel set at almost minimum distortion, and a couple of notches higher in volume than the clean channel, and I have pretty good rhythm and lead sounds thru the DOD pedal.

I don't use the effects much, I usually leave the selector on 1 to add some reverb.

Reliability : 6
It's nowhere near as well-built as my Roland. I'm sure if it got banged around a lot, something would break. That said, I've had it almost 2 years and it's never had a problem. As others have already said, "pretty good for what it costs."

The input jack feels awfully cheap when you plug a cable in, and I believe it's attached directly to the PCB, so I'd guess that's a common point of failure. But, I'm pretty good with electronics, and I could probably put in a better jack if I had to.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Never dealt with Behringer.

Overall Rating : 8
I like it, and it works well for me. I wouldn't depend on it as a gigging amp. Try running a bass-heavy dirt pedal ( Boss OD-3, DOD FX-55, etc) thru the clean channel if you don't like the distortion.
As long as you don't expect it to be the equivalent of a hand-built tube amp, it's a pretty good deal.

This amp is more versitale than your standard two channel solid state amp, however it is probably best suited for blues and rock. Others have stated the features so I won't be redundant. I wish that you could run the seperately from the other effects. Most of the effects are useable, however, the auto wah is too strange to use. I havn't used this amp on stage with a group yet, so at this point all evaluations are at practice level volumes. As others have stated, if you are playing anywhere other than a small room you may need a more powerful amp. It cranks, but not THAT loud. Considering the price, the features are pretty amazing. Price disregaurded, it is about a 6.

Sound Quality : 5
I run my epiphone LP standard with PRS McCarty humbuckers straight into the amp. The clean channel is pretty good. Nothing amazing like an AC30, but not bad in any way either. The gain channel is supprisingly non-solid state sounding. I wouldn't call it tube-like because the sound is too canned and synthetic sounding to deserve that title, however, it is not the standard wall of static that you hear out of crates either. The range of gain is pretty limited on this channel though. It really only covers from blues to classic rock. You would have to run an external unit to get into the range of gian in metal and most modern music. The two channels share the same eq wich kind of sucks. I think that two or three of the preset effects are eq, so you could run that, but you couldn't run any of the other effects while running that. This is a concern because the gain channel has some serious low end. I really like that, however, this makes it hard for me to hold the low end back while obtaining a clean tone with enough bass. This may be more of an issue for guitarists that use humbucker equipt guitars. I havn't tried a strat through it yet, but I would guess that this problem would be reduced. Most of the effects are decent, but not great. For instance, the chourouses sound good, but the range of depth and time controll is pretty limited. I really like this effect that they call magic drive. I think that it is really a phaser or something, but it sounds really cool. The delays are sweet too. Everything sounds better if you run it in stereo through another amp. Good stuff for the price. My main concern is that the amp does not like distortion pedals. I have an Ibanez Tube King overdrive pedal that uses a 12AX7 that sounds really good through other amps, but this amp does not like to be overdriven naturally at all. The pedal in front of the clean channel sounds less tube like than the built in gain of the amp. Thoguly dissapointing in this aspect. Overall, the amp deserves about a 9 for the price, but price asside I'll give it a 5.

I've been playing just over five and a half years and have had the privlage of giging my friend's nice gear. This includes Amaerican series Fenders, a Marshall TSL throught a celestion loaded 1960B cab, a Mesa Boogie Dual Rectifier half stack, and others. I'm certantly not a maser of guitar, but I'm no noob either and I have a good ear for what sounds good. This amp is perfect for a serious beginer or others strapped for cash, like myself. Lots of fun features and it has some power. The price is the best part by far throgh. $130 for a 60 watt 1x12 with a Jensen speaker AND built in stereo effects, a series and paralell effects loop, and the included footswitch? That's insane my friend! For the price you can't do better and it deserves a solid 10. In conparison to other amps with no regaurd to price, I'll give it a 6.

I think this amp was made in 2001 but i am not sure. It has the jensen speaker and now the website advertises a shark speaker so i dont know???? I play Blues, rock, jazz, folk. I like all styles of music exept rap and metal. no offence. This amp works great for what i play. you know the features by now. it has plenty of power for me. i ieed to get any louder i will mic it.

Sound Quality : 8
i play mostly humbucking guitars and i have several semi-hollow models(although i am looking to get a satin strat soon). i play through a dunlop wah, boss ds-1, and a digitec overdrive. I think this amp sounds pretty good. I like to keep it clean but i dont hesitate to turn on the crunch. I dont use any other effects much but the ones on the amp sound ok. I have been keeping it on the compression preset and i am pretty happy with that. As for the other effects, they sound ok. nothing great, but remember i am not a big fan of them anyway. I will probaly use the delay some but other that that. One thing i dont like is the way the effect are set up. you can turn on only one at a time. some of the presets have mor than one on them but you cant pick. So, i ran a alesis nanoverb through the effects loop, and it sounds nice. I also hooked up by behringer v-amp to the stereo aux in and use a a-b selector at the end of my effects chain to change over. i really liek the way both sound. now i can get a bunh of tone from it. But back to the blue devil, it sounds great and you are not going to get anything that comes close for the price. the overdrive channel sounds good to. it is a true overdrive sound though. i go through a lot of these reviews all of the time and see these metal kids dogging out different distortion effects. if you have to add that much distortion to get a decent sound from your guitar, maybe you need some more practice.

Reliability : 7
Seems to be built very well(all of my other behringer products are very well made). i would depend on it for a gig and probaly will.

i have been playing for about 9 years. i have played through many many amps and this one is nice. the price is unbelievable. it should cost hundreds more. i would replace it if it was stolen but lets hope that doesnt happen. i mainly like to play through my v-amp but i really like this amp. go with what you like. dont let some of these old schoolers tell you just because it doesnt say fender or marshall it is not any good. I would recomend this amp for any guitar player, who like me, is on a budget. very nice!! dude, look at the price. it is either this or a 15 watt crate. not a hard decision.

Manufactured in Oct 2002. This is one of the ones with the Jensen Speaker. They are supposed to be better than the ones with the Shark Speakers. I can't tell the difference tho. I bought this from Musicians Friend to replace a GX212 that arrived D.O.A. I am really glad I got it so far. The features are great and the sound is nice. While reading the reviews for most any amp, I have noticed that getting a good one is a lot of luck and whether it is a good one is based a lot on personal subjectivness, or choice. I think I ended up with a good one here. I have spent the first few days just playing with it and experimenting. So far I am really happy

Sound Quality : 8
Great. The only thing is it is made more for clean sounds. It gets a little fuzzy with a lot of distortion. The classic amp sound are the best through this baby.

Reliability : 8
So far so good. Well built and no problems so far. Only a few days old though. The knobs do feel cheap though, they could have used better plastic or metal on those.

Customer Support : 10
I sent a email to Behgringer asking about amp covers. Even though they couldn't help me, they did answer within 24 hours. That was nice. No other needs to contact them.

I have been playing this time for a short while after many years of not. I use a Kona KE-1, and Oscar Schmidt OE30. Both sound great through the amp. We have also played a Fender Mustang, a old Harmony Tele copy and a couple other guitars through the amp. It made them all sound pretty good. If it were lost or stolen I would get a new one. It is the best bang for the buck going right now for a "modeling amp". None of the others can come close when weighing features, build and price. It's a keeper

you know the deal, it has some effects that are useable. the controls arent to hard to figure out, but can be a pain to switch effects on the fly.

i was using a hollowbody telecaster style guitar, with a single coil at the neck and a hb at the bridge, and an epiphone dot. the overall sound quality of this amp was just lacking. it sounded like i was playing through a pillow... the effects were useable, but the sound to start off with was just not well enough defined. i hate to rant about it but it was enough to make me buy a new amp.

Reliability : 8
it was built like a tank, i cant see any problems that would make it easy to break, exceptl that the knobs seem like they woould break off very easily, the shaft that holds the knob on is plastic..not metal like most.

never dealt with them but the manual is written in a somewhat confusing manner.

overall, it is a god enough amp if you want something loud with a lot of effects that dosent cost too much... if tone is something you really care about though you should seriously consider a vox valvetronix amp. a brand new blue devil costs about the same as a brand new vox ad30 and the tone dosent even compare.

A fairly versitile, 2 channel, DFX on board, footswitch included, 1x12 guitar combo amp. Behringer have jam packed features in this amp, but not with the kind of desirable quality that we would expect from a #219 amp. The amp is 60 Watt - enough power to play alone in bedroom, jam with mates, play in a band, and play in a fairly small gig.

Sound Quality : 6
I use an epiphone les paul gothic, through a boss MD-2 pedal (and sometimes a Boss SP-202 sampler). This amp has a good clean tone, especially with the reverb on. However, distortion is another matter! I feel that you really need to tweak the amp to perfection before you can get a mediocre distortion sound through it. (Maybe this is because i can't tweak settings well, but i think i can!!)This is why i have resorted to my MD-2 throught the clean channel for distortion (MD-2 is an amazing pedal, consider it!!!!!!!). At low volumes all the sound is ok - at very high levels, it does not carry the same quality as a Marshall or Fender (or even Peavey) amp.

Reliability : 8
It has never broken down. It is 100% dependable. It has a solid case.

I have been playing for about 3 years. I dont think i would get another GX-112 because i havent connected to it in the same way as i have with my other gear. Behringer have put too much effort into feature, and not enough into quality. A great amp for everything up to small gigs, but nothing more. To get good distortion, an external pedal is a MUST.

The amp was manufactured in 2004. I won't go over the features since this has been discussed in great depth in previous posts. It is 60 watts and provides close to 60 watts of actual power. It plays small club venues well enough, but if I were to get another amp, it would be 2x12 120watts. (I would probably be saying I would need a 4x12 300watts if I had that!)

Sound Quality : 10
I play mostly Gibson style pair o' humbucker guitars but I do have one strat. Cheap humbuckers will lean to the bass side and sound muddy in the hell setting unless the overdrive is set low. Guitars with good humbuckers (dimarzio, SD) sound awesome in this amp. Strat style sounds very bright and clean no matter what channel used. There is little background noise with most instrument and cable combos, and when I bought one of those Fender california cables, my background noise ended, completely, finito! This amp can be used for about every style of play, taking into account its max of 60 watts. It suits my 60's, 70's, and 80's style of Rock along with the punk that I play. Distortion in the hell setting above 5 is raunchier than a bangkok madame unless used with strat/tele style pickups.

Reliability : 10
I would never gig without a backup. To do so is asking for failure. However, this amp has been used extensively and has never failed me. I will address this in the customer service section.

Customer Support : 10
Here is the rub. I bought this amp from American Music Supply as a non-factory sealed unit (BIG MISTAKE!) I have since concluded that they simply resell returned units at a discounted price so that the customers will deal with the manufacturers warranty. I bought the amp and didn't have a chance to play it much because I am in the Marines and had to go someplace really crappy. After playing it for an hour, it got more and more silent. After a good cool down, it would play again, only to weaken again! I contacted the customer service at AMS, and since I had had it for over 45 days, I was told to deal with the manufacturer, whose contact information they provided. Behringer was forthright and gave me a return authorization and I sent the amp in for repair to a warranty service center (subcontractor). It was returned within a few weeks with a "failure to duplicate discrepancy", however, I got it to fail quickly enough. I sent it in again, and the warranty people were able to get it to fail. They explained that it was a cold solder joint, and they repaired it and sent it back. This time, it took me 6 hours, yet It failed again. I called behringer, and they told me to wait for a UPS prepaid sticker, box it up, and send it back to them free of charge, and they would send me a new one! I got the new one 6 months ago and I have been 100% happy with it. That is what I call customer service! Considering that no manufacturer makes perfect units all of the time, and the repair place said that they deal with every manufacturers goods, the company bent over backwards to make me a satisfied customer. I will buy from them again.

Overall Rating : 10
I have been strumming guitars since 1967. I have had nearly all brands of descent guitar and many of them are ones that I made myself. I would buy this unit again if my use remained the same since it fills this niche perfectly, however, my son is starting to gig so it may be a stack, then a couple of stacks! I like the many sounds that it produces, the power to size ratio, and the price. It simply does what it is designed to do cheaper than the other amps in its class. I am not saying that it is better, just provides a good bang to buck ratio. Behringer STANDS BY THEIR PRODUCTS. That is worth money in itself.

This one was made in 2004. Very versatile amp, has got a digital multieffects processor with 24 bit 46KHz sampling rate. Delay and echo effects are very real-like, and the other effects are also very good. The effects are: (digitally simulated) spring reverb, delay, tremolo, phaser, flanger, auto wah, LFO (Low Frequiency Oscillator) wah, chorus, rotary speaker, magic drive, pitch shifter, compressor, expander, guitar combo and speaker cabinet simulating. The effects are fixed and mixed into 99 factory presets, and can be edited in three parameters each, unfortunatelly it's not possible to change the order or combine the effects freely. Some effects are stereo (tremolo, delay, spring reverb and other reverbs, pitch shifter) but you can only enjoy the stereo effects fully, if you use headphones or use a stereo power amp. Has got two channels with independent effects and volume control, the EQ is unfortunatelly common on each of the two channels. Channels are: Heaven (clean) and Hell (distortion).

Sound Quality : 10
Heaven channel sounds very clean and nice, I love this amp. I have a korean stratocaster copy with 3 single coils, but this amp made my guitar sounds like a high-price, high quality instrument.
A play mostly classical rock 'n' roll (Bill Haley & The comets, Chuck Berry, Fats Domino, Danny & The Juniors, Dick Dale, The Drifters, The Coasters, The Platters....etc.). I use the Hell channel to get overdrive sounds, but I don't really use the distortion of this channel: I set the Hell channel's volume pot to maximum, and the gain is on zero, or very low, and I also use a self-made tube overdrive preamp through the effects loop, and this combination makes the amp souns like if I was in 1958. on a secondary school ball.
The amp hasn't got any noise or hum.
The speaker is a heavy-duty 12" Jensen JCH12/70.
The 60 Watts power of the amp is more than enough to manage small club concerts.

Reliability : 10
I have got this amp for a week, so I don't know if it's reliable or not, but I think it will last for a long time.

Customer Support : No Opinion
I didn't have to make contact with the company.

Overall Rating : 10

2000 Made Amp. Very versatile medium amp...
I use this amp mainly at home, group jams and small gigs... for this purpose it has enough power (for some drummer I play with I would need a Marshall stack to hear myself but that's a different story).

Sound Quality : 9
I play anything between Jazz to Rock (No metal) using loads of guitars (Solids, Semis and Electro Acoustic).
I mainly like the Tube emulation sound - I do not use the Amp effects (that's what the GT-6 or various pedals I have is for)... All in all, great sounds clean or distorted.

Reliability : 9
So far so good !

Never Needed the folks in Behringer. The documentation on the site was great when I needed it. Looks like this company is doing great and is here to stay. It sure gives Line-6 a good run for the money :).

I have been playing for many years but I only switched to electric as a main playing guitar in the last 4-5 years. I have been suffering for serious G.A.S but I have to say that amp-wise I stuck with this baby for the last 2-3 years.
If it was lost I would get my head check first (who looses Amps), If it was stolen (I would kill the guy as there is no way he would take my amp without getting my beloved Yamaha SG with it - but I wouldn't cry on the amp as they are darn cheap !) I would check Behringer as a 1st option for thier new half a stack and head and there is never enough power for lead playing guitarist.

This particular blue devil was made in december 2003....got it from musicians friend for $150 brand new..it has lots of features many amplifiers in this price range dont have...a stereo line out,an effects loop, an auxilary out, headphone jack, and an effects processor with 99 presets, allof witch can be edited and saved.it has two channels, clean(heaven)..and overdrive (hell)...60 watts of power and a i2 inch jenson shark speaker

Sound Quality : 9
currently i am playing this amp with a bc rich kkv..i like to play various sorts of metal...the stock pick-ups sound very good thru this amp...it is queit at pretty much all sound levels and it is only noisy with a few of the effects, the clean channell stays clean and the overdrive has a very full and rich tone...the ''virtube'' technology seems to work well...the tone sounds similar to a tube amp...i have found most of the effects to be useful, all execpt for the wah, and some of the filters sound a bit funky...but the chorus, flanger, and delays sound good..this is a very versitile amp, it is great for rock, blues, and maybe jazz...i love to play metal so i use a d.o.d death metal petal in the loop so that gives me all the crunch i need...that ismy only real bitch about this amp...the distortion is good, nice and smooth,a very musical distortion...but you cant really dial in super heavy gain drenched tones. dont get me wrong,.this amp can get heavy...disturbed and static-x heavy...just not cannibal corpse and morbid angel heavy

Reliability : 9
i have had this rig of about 3 months now and ive played it full volume and it has never done anything wierd..i read some reviews where some cats said that this amp just ''died'' on them,i dnt know what the hell they were doing to it or what kind of set-up they had,but ive played this amp full fucking blast for 2 solid hours and it never ''died'' on me..the speaker seems to hold up well, and the cab is well made..the finish looks like its got water droplets on it so that looks sorta cool...none of the knobs have popped off and everything still seems to be wired nice and tight, i play this amp every day and so far it has not failed me..i suppose i could play a gig without a back up,if you use this amp the way it was intended it should not fail you.i

Customer Support : No Opinion
never had to contact behringer...they are a german company,so good fucking luck getting them on the line

Overall Rating : 9
i am a budding guitar player and i wanted an amp that had lots of features and and some effects, it lost a point because im a metal head and the distortion was good,it just wasnt SUPER heavy, but there is no way you could find a better amp for 150 bucks, it is a 60 watt amp, so unless your gonna use the line-out into a p.a., you can only get away with playing in small clubs, the e.q. is very sensetive and its easy to scoop out the mids and get a decent metal tone...all things considered this amp is great for the money...the only people who dont like it are the dickheads that think their jimi fucking hendrix and like to nit-pick everyting

My amp was manufactured in october 2000. Details are throughoutly well described below by others. It has 12" Jensen speaker, Heaven&Hell channels, 3 knob equalizer and 99 pre-effects. The effects are customizable in a few categories. I play 70's rock and bluesy stuff, wouldn't say the sounds it produces are ideal for those. I have used it as a practice amp, naturally it's got enough balls for that.

Sound Quality : 7
Due to my budget, I've played through the amp with cheap guitars. I can't say it sounds bad, but the sound of Heaven channel is not as warm as I would want, could be cleaner too. Distortion channel is its own story, very average. You can crank a lot of noise out from this amp, but I've never needed to test its limits. I've heard about people who use it on gigs. Makes a good back up amp. The digital effects must affect the quality, although they're a great addition as a whole. 99 is not the true number, most of them have been combined (wah&dist.) and all feature 2-5 variants. The real number of significantly different sounds is closer to 15, I think. Not to sound only critical, you CAN get out great tones with certain tricks.

Reliability : 9
I have not put it under heavy use. During the 3 years I've owned it, it has not shown any signs of malfunction. I would take it to a gig without a back up.

Customer Support : No Opinion

Overall Rating : 7
Has an excellent price/value -ratio. Besides GX112, I've only owned cheap practice amps and a few guitars. I like its customizable effects, you have free hands. I cant say the sound quality is awesome though. Even if you were less than satisfied with what it offers, you won't be crying over the money it cost.

My current Blue Devil was made in December 2002. My first one (defective)was made in July 2002. Very versatile amp. I play Metal (Fear Factory, Slayer, Slipknot. etc). Two channel amp with footswitch included. Despite what everyone says this IS a 60 watt amp with a decent 12" 70 watt Jensen speaker. (JCH 12/70) Includes built in 24 bit digital effects which I haven't used yet. My only complaint is that this amp has no "speaker out" jack. The shared EQ is very sensitive and gives a great deal of tonal control. The Hell or distortion channel is too muddy for my taste. If you want good distortion buy a foot pedal or effects processor. The Heaven channel is very tube like and sounds great with my Zoom processor for distortion and everything else. Overall, you cannot beat this amp for the price! Got mine for $206.00 with tax. Just be careful and do not connect the insert send to another amp. My first Blue Devil went up in smoke because of that. The store gave me another one. Whether it was a defective amp or just a bad signal routing I don't know but I haven't had any problems with my new Blue Devil and im not going to try the insert send trick again. Use the line-outs for that.

Sound Quality : 9
I play a 1986 Charvel model 4 with EMG active pickups. The combination of my guitar, effects and new Celestion Vintage 30 on the Blue Devil makes it sound much like a Mesa Boogie Mark III that I played on for seven years. When practicing the sound is remarkably consistent at most all volume levels. Be sure and check the clipping light when setting the Heaven and Hell volume levels so that you do not over saturate the preamp.

Now here is a trick if you want to make this amp roar like a lion!
Ok, the amp comes with a Jensen speaker which is not bad at all. However I needed more volume so I installed a Celestion Vintage 30 and now this amp screams!!!! You see, the Vintage 30 has a sensitivity rating of 100db and the jensen has a rating of 96db. Since the speaker sensitivity is higher on the Vintage 30 it makes the speaker more responsive and thus louder. So in turn, now this 60 watt amp sounds like a 120 watt amp with tube tone and for only $315 (speaker included). What an investment! I will give it a 9 because the amp is a little noisy at high volumes.

Reliability : No Opinion
Built pretty solid. Haven't gigged with it yet but I will. Like I said the first one went up in smoke but I don't know if it was my fault or not. It was caused by either running another amp from the Insert Send jack, overheating or just faulty wiring. I've been told that the amp should not fry out on you for any reason like that but I haven't tried it on my new one and I have had no problems. I think this amp has a tendency to shut itself off when it is too hot but that is a good thing.

Customer Support : 5
I got a reply from the tech support about 2 or 3 days after sending emails but I must say that their input was a disappointment. The first tech told me he had no knowledge that the Blue Devil was equipped with a Jensen. ??? So that should tell you something. The second tech was just confused and confusing. I will give them a 5 for effort.

Overall Rating : 10
I've been playing for 12 years and I have played through many amps. This is an excellent amp for the price but if you want to get super loud then install a Celestion Vintage 30 speaker and watch the walls vibrate. Good sound on the clean channel with a distortion pedal or processor. Didn't like the Hell channel.
Wish it had a Speaker Out.
Overall you cannot beat this amp for the price. Get one today.

You should know 'em by now. Kudos, as usual, for providing the channel switching footswitch.

Sound Quality : 5
Clean channel is decent. Dirty channel, well, almost sucks. With a lot of effort and wasting your built-in effects for the basic tone of the amp, you can find something that is OK. Just so you know I'm not a Behringer basher - I first got a Vintager because the blue devil was out-of stock. I loved jamming on the vintager, but the tube picked up AM radio and hummed so badly that I couldn't use it (except at very high volumes). It was a blast, but it went back for the blue devil. The blue devil's sound is a disappointment. Now, I use a V-amp and various plug in modelers for recording and the blue devil only comes out for volume. But never for tone.

Reliability : 9
Good so far. Its twin with a tube (Vintager) had very bad hum and radio interference.

Keyboardist first, guitar second. maybe three serious years of playing disttibuted over twenty years.

Price is great, although Pignose has a full tube amp (6 tubes) for the same price. I'd probably go there in the future, and stick with a seperate modeler.

Most of my disiappointment comes from the fact that the Vintager was a much nicer sounding unit (barring the hum problem). And thats all that matters.

The gentleman I purchased this amp from said he had it a year, I just got it. I think the amp is very versitile, and could be used in a variety of situations, all though certainly not all. The amp has 2 channels, that share an EQ section, stereo sends and stereo aux returns with a pot to control the return level, nice touch. The only feature I find that would make it a better amp is that it desparately needs a tone control bank for the second channel. I intend to use this amp live but will likely use it in the studio as well, depending on how quiet it sounds through a mic, and direct. It is a 65 watt amp, and, I would think can easily be used for small clubs (the rythm guitar player in the band I am in used it last night for practice, and we play pretty loud in an acoustically terrible place, it seemed to more than cover the band turned about 1/2 way up. It also has a lot of extra gain past the 1/2 way point, which is not at all typical. Most amps by the time you crank the master 1/2 way have used most of their available power. This amp seems to have a pretty linear master gain. This is a solid state amp that sounds as if it may have FETs in it, the clean channel is almost tube like sounding, the dirty channel (hell) sounds pretty solid state, but, can be adjusted to get a reasonably hot sound without too much "buzz" if you play with it.

Sound Quality : 8
I use a variety of guitars, I play a variety of sounds. I prefer Japanese and Korean guitars, because the quality on them is better than anything else out there, and I am not into paying an extra 300 bucks for an intrument just to get a specific trademark on the headstock. I am in a band that does rock era stuff, mostly 50s and 60s, doowap and like that, so even though I play bass in the band, I of course play a lot of the songs at home on guitar. I also record music in the style of rock era, that music is late 60s, early 70s. The amp so far seems noisy in certain settings, like near my puter or a flourescent lamp, and the effects section is as noisy as most are, for example the chorus "swoosh" but, nothing out of the ordinary. The amp is a very good amp for clean fingerstyle type of music, and for blues. The dirty (hell) channel is a good channel to get hot gain from, but, the distortion is a broken up type of distortion if you crank it, kind of like the neil Young Crasy horse sound. I found that by keeping the "HEAT" control , which controls the amount of distortion, turned down, you can get nice sustain with a reasonably intelligeble sound. The distortion with "heat" cranked is brutal, and unpleasantly so, in my opinion it is not a desirable distortion. BUT as I say, with it turned to about 4 or less, it seems to do nicely.

Reliability : 10
I have other Behringer stuff, the stuff is cheap but top notch. I have some of their XM85oo mics, they are better than Shure 58s, and way cheap, I seen the drummer in the band drop one, and it still works. I have a behringer mixer and compressor gate, all are top notch and seem to be very sturdy, I suspect this amp is fairly dependable as well. I have not had it long enough to know, but pretty much anything made overseas anymore has superior dependability.

Customer Support : No Opinion
I tend to buy things that are made well, like I say, Japanese and Korean, so , customer support is not really an issue with me, I seldom have equipment failures and don't need it. Like I always say, a warrenty on a peice of paper is useless, the true warrenty is in the name.

I have been playing since the mid 60s, and have owned a ton of equipment over the years. I have a lot of gear now, for recording and for playing live. If I were to lose this amp for some reason, I think I would get another, depending on cost comparison. I mean, this thing is not even in the same ballpark with the new Vox amps that go between 700 and a grand, but that is not a fair comparison. This amp normally goes for around 200 bucks at musicians freind, I got it for 95 and 20 shipping. The thing I like about the amp is that it has a real nice jenson speaker, with a smartly designed cab that gives it a really deep and rich tone for its size. I really got it because my crate vintage club is way too much for a guy my age to be schlepping to jams and gigs. The amp is fairly compact, not realy heavy but also seems to not be frail. One thing I REALLY like about the amp is something I've seen noone else mention: When playing in a live setting, the knobs on most amps are in a straight line, and man, when you hit middle age bending over and trying to read control names when there are 15 of them laid out in a straight line is a bear. This amp has the controls laid out in an odd fashion , which when I first seen a pic of it I thought "YEAH how clever!" I can look at the amp and reach to exactly which control I want without even thinking about it. That is a VAST advantage onstage. I bought this amp without hearing it just on the basis that even if I had paid 200 for a new one, I could hardly lose on it, at worst it would have made a crappy amp that is good enough for practice and easy to carry, so, at the price I got it at, I was not expecting a lot, other than the fact that I am familiar with Behringers reputation for making superior products at absurdly low retail. I will probably use this amp more than my crate, which is easily a better amp for distorted sounds, being a tube amp, but the clean section in it is something I cannot wait to record with. I am sure that an external stomp grunge box ( I have a TR7 tube screamer, I bet that will be a nice combination) will make up for any defactits this amp has. The only thing I wish it had is a tone bank for the "HELL" channel, simply because, when I get the bass adjusted to be rich and full in the clean channel, with the neck pickup selected for blues, in the dirty channel the bass bottoms out, which is again, somewhat typical for most amps anyway, it is just that the second tone bank would remedy that. Actually, all it really needs is a bass control on the dirt channel.

My Model is a 2000 vintage. I bought it when I needed a repair on my Tech-21 Trademark 60. Some studio use and have been using it for live gigs for the past year and a half.

Sound Quality : 7
At the time I was doing studio work (demos) and this amp does not sound particulary good recording. I ran out of the headphone jack for the stereo effects. Of course, that's comparing to my TM 60 which cost me $550 so keep that in mind. The effects are pretty good...especially the verbs, delays and tremelo. The chorus efx have an annoying delay which make it sound like you have a very fast slapback on the effect. Me no like. I just use my CE-2 live...much prettier. The clean channel is fine and the Hell channel sounds ok if you wanna add crunch but I'd never use this channel as a "lead" sound. Don't let the "Virtube" logo fool you....this amp sounds totally transitor to me. I use a Blue Tube and Tube Screamer to get something that sounds musical on solos. I keep the "volume" setting all the way up and the "master volume" at around 1 o'clock for gigs. I have not experience the dropout that others here have described (knock on wood). I will try the "insert send" to "aux in" mod to see what that does. For $250 this amp does pretty good for me. My Trademark 60 is my "baby" and I really don't wanna bang it around on gigs. If this amp goes crap on me then I've got my money's worth in 3.5 years. If it hangs around for a few more years then my now 5-year-old will have a starter amp! If you look at this amp as a foundation using the clean channel and then get your tone using effects then this is a great deal. It would be painful to try and play a gig with this amp and just a chord.....tone suicide!

Reliability : 9
So far so good....play several gigs a week for the past year and a half. Just a few minor chips in the presswood casing. The "parameter" knob did get broken off....revealing the stems for the pots on this amp are made of PLASTIC!....geez guys....spend a few cents where it counts! I bought 2 pieces of Behringer studio gear which I truly hated the sound of and got rid of ASAP. I can't say that about this amp....it's doing it's job.

Customer Support : No Opinion
haven't dealt with them.

Overall Rating : 8
Don't know if I'd buy this amp again. I had limited money at the time and I might opt for a Tech-21 Trademark 20 over this thing knowing the direct out and basic tone are much better. If you don't need the effects than look at the Trademark series...closer to tube sound by far.

This is a second review of this amp after having it for over two years now. Features are still the same except for the fact that I picked up the Behringer FCB110 midi foot controller about a year ago. Do Yourself a favor and pick one of these up if you plan on taking advantage of the effects in the amp.

Sound Quality : 10
Still sounds just as good as the day I bought it. Oh yeah, there is a modification that others have suggested here by using a cord between "send" and "aux line in" DO IT! It takes the delay away from switching channels and effects. I was having the problem where I bought an Akai Headrush pedal to do some loop sampling and no matter which way I hooked this thing up, it would not capture the effect I was using in the Blue Devil. All I would get is a loop of straight guitar. I found the mod here and used it with the pedal between the "send" and 'aux line in", PROBLEM SOLVED! I now capture the effect plus whatever I do with the expression pedal on the midi controller. I guess it had something to do with how the amp proccesses effects through the head.

Reliability : 10
I have never had a problem (knock on wood)It's been a prince to me. I have played with multiple bands, moved residence three times and use it extensivly in my home studio. GREAT!

Customer Support : No Opinion
Haven't had to deal with them and hope to never have to.

Overall Rating : 10
Been playing 13 years now and this is the best amp I have ever owned, especially after I bought the midi foot controller pedal. I traded in all my other multi-effects pedals so I didn't even pay that much for the pedal. If this sthing broke, I would most definitely buy another, especially since they are $300 dollars CHEAPER then when I bought mine over 2 years ago. Maybe I will try the 2x12 combo next. I am with these guys for life.

I bought my Behringer GX 112 Blue Devil in 2002 and received it in 2003 (backordered). It has it has a clean a distortion channel wtih built in effects and incluedes a pedal to switch between channels and to turn effect on/off.

Sound Quality : 7
I use an Epi LP Standard and a Fender Telecoustin. The Telecoustic sounds great. The Epi sounds pretty good. I'm not complaining. I also use a DigiTech RP 300 Effect Proccessor so i really don't use the built in effects to much, especially with my the Epi. Compared to the Effects Processor the built in effect are kind of weak. I do, however, like the built in reverb effects the amp has. The hell channel (distortion) also sounds pretty good.
The down side.
When the master volume is up to high the amp hums. solution... Put the gain all the way up and the amp wont hum as long as you keep the master at about +/- half way. The other thing is that the amp has crashed on me. It'll just go silent. I think it has to do with running it too long with the master volume to high. I don't know, but it happened at a live gig and I was sweeting bullets. Behringer... make the neccesary changes and it will get a 10.
The one thing that really sucks is volume. A little more power wouldn't hurt. It's loud at home but when your rockin' out it's not so loud.

Reliability : 7
With the exception of the suddenly dieing out incident, yes. I haul it around all the time in my beat up truck and it handles well. It always work well with the exception of two time (once in a live gig i might add)it has just died on me. When it does that i just turn of the effects pedal and then the amp, wait a second and turn everything back on and then it's working again.

Customer Support : 7
havn't delt with Behringer or Same Day Music.

Overall Rating : 8
85% good. Acouple of flaws. Mainly that it's died on me and the volume isn't loud enough.

My Blue Devil is a 2001 model. After about 6 months I started Gigging & really put it to the 'test', and then I was not so enamored with it.
While it sounds awesome, when you crank it up it does sound a bit
transistory, and doesn't cut through the mix with other instruments that well. ALSO (VERY IMPORTANT) when you crank it up past 12:00 oclk
she craps out. The VOLUME cuts off & then comes back (until you LOWER the Volume Knob). Naturally this happened once during the warranty period & I though it was a faulty guitar cord. But after 6 months later & the warranty expired, I realized that it was the amp itself. READ ON It has nice features, don't get me wrong, but an amp that CUTS out during a live gig is embarrasing.

Sound Quality : 1
I play all types of music, mostly blues, & it sounds GOOD, especially when recording via line out. For live gigging the POWER is not there. It gets LOST IN THE MIX. ALSO when in the HELL channel, the master volume is turned up past 12:00 oclock, the AMP VOLUME cuts off (suddenly drops) & then comes back (until you LOWER the Volume Knob). The Heaven Channel is too low for practice even.

Reliability : 2

ALSO when the master volume is turned up past 12:00 oclock,in the hell channel, the AMP VOLUME cuts off (suddenly drops) & then comes back (until you LOWER the Volume Knob). This PISSES ME OFF. Behringer gave me the old bullshit story of "If it's still under warranty Yada yada yada...so now (seeing I had it past the warranty period of 1 year) I
am Shit out of luck. Now here's the clincher. I got the names of several service centers in the U.S. They said it sounds like the
IC cicuits are overheating (Take note Behringer) & so the volume cuts off. It 'would" cost about $100.00 to fix, but I have to pay for shipping too. Minimum shipping cost is $40.00 each way, so we're talking about $180.00 total. I guess I will have to sell it, cause it pisses me off so much. I hope Behringer goes out of business.

Let me tell you again: When the master volume is turned up past 12:00 oclock,in the hell channel, the AMP VOLUME cuts off (suddenly drops) & then comes back (until you LOWER the Volume Knob). Overall Rating : 3
On a scale of 1 to 10, with 10 being the highest (i.e good), I rate this a "3". If the AMP didn't "cut" off (volume) while I was playing,
--a MAJOR design flaw-- I could live with the transistory sound, the
wattage limitations & the other flaws like the shittily made cabinet & the 2 second delay in channel switching (using the footpedal). I will SELL this amp for $150.00 (if you pay the shipping). If anyone knows a reputable repair shop in the Virginia area (USA) let me know. I must say that SHIT happens & Behringer makes SHIT happen. I will probably NEVER buy another Behringer product again as long as I live. You see, first impressions are very important. I didn't expect a Marshal, but I also expect the amp to STAY ON when I am gigging.

This review is for a new 2003 model. It's a two channel amp, one clean one distortion. The GX112 comes with 99 effects, all editable. Most of them are usable. It has all kinds of I/O's. I use this amp for practice, but believe it would work for small venues, in fact, I plan on using it for a summer camp gig this summer. It's a solid state with Virtube technology. No, it does not sound just like a tube amp, but then, you don't have to worry about tube reliability. For the money, it's a winner.

Sound Quality : 10
My main guitar is an American Made Fender classic stratocaster. It has the SSH pickup configuration with Floyd Rose brige. All stock. The clean channel is absolutely wonderful sounding to me. I play alot of jazz for personnal pleasure. My Fender tone comes through full and bell like in sound quality. Not only does the clean channel really shine with the single coils, it has a great blues distortion with the humbucker in the brige position. It just growls out that tone I love. The only amp I've personnaly played that I like better is the Fender Hot Rod Deville with 2 12's. But at $750, I can't afford it. I only paid $199.00 brand new for this amp. I would recommned it to anyone with a need for an inexpensive practice or recording amp. The guy who plays bass with me thinks it sounds really good also. He's pretty picky about tone too. He plays a Warwick 6 string bass through a GK. Together, his tone and mine with the Behringer- wow!!! Again, it's not tube, but I have no complaints about the good sound that comes from this amp. I'd say it's perfectly suited for Jazz, Classic Rock, Pop, Country, Blues, Funk, Disco, Hip Hop, 50's music, most any other, but not heavy metal, at least not without a pedal in the chain.

Reliability : 9
I've not had this amp very long, however, I also own a Behringer Vintager with tube preamp and a Behringer Ultrabass BX 1200. I've never had any trouble with any Behringer product. And at the price you pay, if it dies in 5 years, just go buy another one!!! The front knobs seem to be pretty cheap. They turn easily, but I think they're plastic, at least they feel thay way. The input jack are metal, but the knobs- I prefer the old metal shaft type.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Never needed it, but being that the company is in Germany, you do the math. I bought this from American Musical supply and it came with a one year factory warrenty and an extra year coverage from AMS for free.

Overall Rating : 9
I would definitly buy another one if it were lost or stolen or destroyed. For the money, it's a no brainer. I've owned a Marshall MG50RCD, a Crate, and here recently a Tech 21 Trademark 10. In comparison to these, this amp swamps them all. If it had the sansamp XLR out like the Tech 21, it would be close to perfect.

Berhinger Blue Devil 2002 model

Versatility: I play a '74 Fender Strat (American) without any modifications and the original single-coil pups as well as an Epiphone PR-650N 6-string acoustic and do everything from old Scotty Moore (Elvis) leads to AC/DC to Hank Williams -- this amp can handle that just fine without exterior effects. Only the really high-end amps can beat the clean or Heaven channel sound -- honestly, it's by far the best I've heard not only in this price range but probably up to even a six or seven hundred dollar range. It's so close anyways that if you're watching your budget, as seemingly 98 percent of guitarists are, you'll pick up this one.

Channels -- two channels -- Heaven as I mentioned and Hell, which is the built-in effects channel. The two share an EQ which is a small drawback and not much of one for me. There are 99 preset effects which you can mess up to your heart's content and then simply reset back to the factory settings and start over. Might be nice if it doesn't increase the price considerably to have the ability to reset particular effects only instead of all 99 at once but that may be quibbling.

Wish it had -- Well, not much really. I swapped a little 25-watt Peavey practice amp and cash with a buddy for this one so ended up costing me basically about $250. The Behringer just got to be a pain for him to haul around as a practice amp -- he travels the U.S extensively and wanted something smaller and lighter. This amp has good weight and is solid. Of course you can break it but I am guessing it would take a better than average effort to do so. One thing is wah-wah -- the built-in effect is fine but it can't sub for a pedal. So I plugged mine in. Problem solved. So if you want other specialty effects since the presets can't mix, you'll have to plug in your boxes. Okay, it handles them fine. Be nice if they made the effects mixable in upcoming models -- but not if it's going to increase the price by $200.

Use -- I use this amp playing in and out. This is a 60-watt killer. I know anyone under 25 swears that anything less than 100-watts is not worth owning but this amp can stand out alongside any 100-watt unit that is on the cheaper end (not a Marshall or such -- you know what I mean). It cuts through bar noise with ease even when I use my Epiphone through it. And if you're just starting out, you're broke. And if you're broke and want 100-watts, you're gonna have to buy crap. And if you buy crap what you have is a 100-watts of crap. Seriously, you will be very happy and your friends and fellow pickers will be amazed at the power this little bugger has. Really, the power is plenty for almost anyone short of Pete Townshend. My dogs run and hide and my wife screams when I crank it up at home so you know you're making some noise. And I never get past 4 at home.

Misc -- Really I was a little apprehensive when my buddy broached the idea of a swap. My little Peavey really served it's purpose as a simple, inexpensive practice and go-anywhere amp. I was at point in my playing where I'd sold off some equipment and was re-engineering and re-evalutaing my sound and equipment. This amp fits the bill perfectly and incredibly inexpensively for gigs or practice. I haven't regretted it for a moment since. I've played for 25 years and for 20 years on a paying basis and this amp and the next models of it will probably be the amps I use for the rest of my life.

I give it a 9 out of 10 overall because it is not the best amp in the world -- it is however better than 95 percent of them and the remaining five percent are at least three-times more expensive. In it's price range, hands-down best amp ever made in the $250 to $300 range. Period. 10 out of 10.

Oooops -- wrote my whole thing here -- you'll get the drift -- you're bright; I can see it in your eyes.

made in june 2002 // 2 channels: heaven for clean sounds, hell for all the heavey ones // footswtich included, allows channel select and effetc on-off // fx-loop, headphone jack, stereo line out, aux-in // 12" jensen speaker 75w // solid state amp, 65w // built-in fx (31 different ones) 99 presets

In this priece range it should deserve 10 points. but because there's no speaker out and the equalizer is shared for both channels I'll give it "just" 8.

Sound Quality : 8
okay. I'm playing a yamaha rgx and a peavey raptor plus, both humbucker and single coul equipped, straight into the amp.

Clean Channel: sounds great! 10 points! (especially if you add a spring reverb effect). nothing more to say. doesn't matter if you use sc or humb. nice clean sound!

Lead Channel: it's okay. 7 points. It's no mesa, it's no marshall and so on. but it sounds good for a solid state amp. has lot of gain. a seperate equalizer would be nice.

FX: some sound great, some sound s**t. 7 points because the important fx are good! check out the spring reverb! it kicks ass! flanger chorus and delay are nice, too. the presets with mixed effects are satisfying.

this amp fits clean, bluesy and rock stuff. for metal sounds I would prefer a seperate pedal in front of the amp.

note: like many other fx boards there is a delay when switching channels. solution: set the same effect on every channel. or: connect fx send with aux in and turn aux volume all the way up (use a patch cable. and: the fx loop can't be used any more - I'll try the midi floorboard, maybe it works okay with it, too). removing the backpanel will result in a less bassy sound - depends on what you like.

I would by it again, even if I'd just use it for practise.

By the time you arrive to my review, you already know what the amp has!
It's a (quite)lightweight amp with a 12inch speaker, two switchable channels and built-in FX and MIDI.
There's little I would have wished. More edit options via a computer would have been nice, particularly for the chorus/flanger/phaser section, and independent Eq too. But for the money I payed, I feel bad for writing this...
I don't think there's better amp for the money.
I use it for rehearsing and playing with a world-jazz band with bass, electronic drums and several other instruments. I have enough volume for both, and the fact that I don't need to carry my rack is VERY nice.

Sound Quality : 10
I play two guitars with this one: a Washburn J6s archtop and a Casio MG510. Both sound very good, and I can get both a good jazz tone and full distortion and everything in between. The AUX in is very good for me with the MIDI guitar, since I can send there my Roland module.
Some effexts could be better, particularly the chorus, but I must confess I can't find a decent affordable chorus that I like, so it may be my problem...

Reliability : No Opinion
I've been using it for several months with no problems, but I can't comment since I don't abuse my equipment. For my type of use it's perfectly OK.

I mailed Behringer with some suggestions and a couple of questions, and they answered me the following day, very friendly and informative.

I play professionally since almost 15 years ago. I owned a couple of Fender amps, and play regularly with a VOX AC30, played Marshalls and all kind of Peaveys during my life. If it were stolen, and the price was the same, I would definitely buy it again. For some more money too, since I don't have to carry my FX. I compared it to the amp I was actually looking for, a Fender Princeton, and a Laney. Again, it sounds every bit as good, and costed me less. Great buy, and a very good amp for a project stusio, since it has line outs, MIDI and FX-.

Considering how cheap this amp is (in regards to cost, not construction), this thing comes jam packed with features. It has 2 footswitchable channels (heaven = clean, hell = distortion). It also has 99 effects presets which are all customizable (Chorus, Flanger, Delay, Wah, Stage sound, Concert Sound, Compressor, Phaser, many many more). You can also customize settings on the presets and save them so you dont have to fumble with the knobs if you switch effects and want to go back to one you were using before. If you get tired of that, you can easily reset the preset back to factory.

65 Watts, 12-inch Jenson speaker, Channel volume and master volume controls. Midi, input, aux out, headphone jack, and a 2 button footswitch built like a tank. You name it, this amp has it somewhere.

Sound Quality : 10
I use an Ibanez RG470 with stock pups (Hum/S/Hum). I play heavy rock to metal most of the time, this amp does really awesome in this category. You can get a very Van Halen like sound out of it to AC/DC. If you want super heavy metal/nu-metal-ish sound, you probably want to equip this amp with a good distortion pedal. But it rocks pretty hardcore as it is anyways. It has 2 or 3 presets that emulate cabs of Marshall and Mesa amps and they give you that metal sound you might be looking for, but this disqualifies you from using any other effects on the distortion channel so again, I recommend a good distortion pedal if you want heavy sound and still want to use some of the other effects.

Amp isnt all too noisy. It cranks pretty loud and I haven't even had the guts to turn it up full blast yet. Clean channel is AMAZING as well, Very good on both channels.

Reliability : 7
I wouldnt say this thing is like an armored car. A good sized drop would probably hurt this thing pretty bad. Its mostly particle board but it holds up pretty well nonetheless. If you tighten up the screws a bit, it holds together pretty well. Sturdy amp, but definitely not bulletproof.

I started with a little 15W Peavey but as I got more and more into playing, I definitely wanted something with better tone and louder volume. Considering the price of this amp, you can't go wrong. Its loud enough to rattle windows but plays great even at low volumes as well.

If your a minimum wage working guy like me and dont have alot of money to throw at a Mesa or a Marshall, this I would say is the next best thing. For the price anyways.

For the price, the features of this amp are exceptional. True, the effects cannot be combined, but they all sound like very high quality effects. Chorus, Delays, Reverbs, etc. all sound as if they belong on a high-end effects unit (lexicon, tc electronics, line 6). It appears as though Behringer, as they usually do with all of there products, is offering a level of quality in this amp that is not normally found at this price.

I've played lots of different styles of music, but my preferences lean towards more aggressive stuff. Anything fueled by powerful emotions is what i like to hear, and play. I like Gibson guitars, as well as ESP's, and if i'm in the mood, i'll play on a Fender. Mostly I lean towards humbucking pickups, but i like single coils as well, especially on fender strats and jaguars. The Blue Devil has sounded good with every guitar i've played through it.
I think overall, this amp shines with straight clean/distorted sound. Just a guitar, cable, and amp setup. There are no amazing tones or crystaline clarities, its just well balanced tone at low or high volumes. The clean channel (Heaven) has good clarity and warm tone. The distorted channel (Hell) also has good clarity and warm tone, and is very well balanced between the highs and lows. Actually, the distorted channel is a powerful overdrive, not a distortion, but unless you're a gearhead, you won't know the difference. The gain stage is good, but it will not get "super-saturated" like the lead channels on marshall TSL's, Mesa TripleRect's, VHT, Diezel, or whatever. However, a true guitarist will eventually learn, as I have, that lots of gain doesn't always equal heavier sound. I rarely use all that gain when i play on a Mesa or a VHT, at least not for basic sound. With this lesson in mind, I don't have trouble dialing in "old metallica" sounds or any of the "nu-metal" sound all you little kiddies like so much. For extra-high gain, the simple addition of an external pedal or processor will do the trick, and sounds very good on the clean (heaven) channel.
The EQ knobs, though not super smooth to the touch like high-end amps, are sonically sensitve definatley work well. They offer a large amount of control and versatility, and are much better than most EQ's on lower-priced combo amps. One of the best qualities of the sound is it's resemblance to a true tube amp. You would normally have to pay a whole lot more money to get that natural sounding compression, sensitivity, and tone that this amp has. Behringer's "Virtube" technology seems to do it's job well.
Here are some things I have done to experiment with the sound:
1. The back of this amp can be removed, being held on by only four screws. Depending on the types of sounds you're shooting for, this can be a very effective modification. Also, patches 97, 98, and 99 on the built in effects processor are speaker cabinet emulators. Experimentation with these patches will yield pleasurable results, especially for those who aim for a heavier "metal" or "blues" sound.

2. For a band i'm in that plays heavier stuff (and i don't mean pussy stuff - "real" heavy music), I've used an external processor (Line 6 POD Pro) into the effects return on the back of the amp. I bypass the "heaven" and "hell" channels all together and just use the master volume. My guitar plugs into the processor, so i don't use the effects send jack, just the return. There is no "loop" established. I am very pleased with the results of this configuration, as I'm sure anyone else would be. I've also done it with lesser expensive Korg and Digitech units.

3. Finally (and i strongly recommend this) this amp has two line out jacks. The sound from these jacks is excellent. I've used it to plug into PA systems, mixers, and recorders, all with good results. Currently, for a hardcore/math-rock/chaotic band i play with, i plug my guitar straight into the amp's input, then i go from the line out into the "power amp input" on an old Crate GX212. then i use the Crate's 120 watts of power to push a 4x10 peavy cabinet. by using the "power amp input" on my crate, i'm bypassing it's preamp, so all the sound is generated by the Blue Devil. I get an excellent sound using this configuration, especially from the dis

The construction is very solid. It has survived lots of abuse and several shows in which i used it as a clean amp with a few effects. I'd expect my Marshall DSL to fail before this amp.

I've owned this amp for over a year, and in the 14 years that I've been playing music, I've owned and/or played on hundreds of different guitar amplifiers. From $50 "Sears Brand" amps to multi-thousand dollar customized boutiques. Overall this amp is a very good addition to your musical arsenal, and is a very good choice for beginner/novice level guitarists, especially due to it's more than reasonable price.
For live shows or important recordings, I usually employ a more high-end (and much more expensive) rig, but this amp is not below my standards for those applications, and i have used it for both live shows (especially for clean sounds) and recording. Actually, I use it constantly, particularly at home while recording or rehearsing. If you're a heavy user of effects, you won't be dissapointed. If you're using an external effects processor or any external pedals, your satisfaction will also be met. Or, if you prefer straight clean and/or straight overdrive sounds, for whatever type of music you play, you probably won't regret getting this amp.
I own a few other behringer products (EQ Unit, Headphone Amp), and I've been pleasantly surprised with each one. If you're looking for an above average piece of gear, and you want to pay a below average price, turn to behringer. They are a german-based company, and I don't know if you've noticed, but almost anything the germans make seems to be exeptional (cars, diezel amps), and i think the Blue Devil lives up to those german roots.
If you're contemplating buying this amp and/or others like it, but are afraid of being dissapointed, you have 2 options: you can spend three or four times as much on a better amp (preferably tube), or you can get this one. Other combo amps in this price range simply don't compete.

This amp has a huge amount of features up it's sleaves. I have been using the behrinher for some time now and i am very happy with it. The effects that are avaliable to me are rating one. You would think that they are external effects for how good they sound. I have worked out all of the effects and i can model all of the guitarest i play.

Sound Quality : 10
This amp has a fantastic sound. Most of the amps i have tried out can have a fantastic distortion but lack cleaness in the clean channel. The Blue devil has both. The heaven channel has a fantastic sound and because of this all external effects sound unreal. The equilizer is very active with is very very very good. The different sounds that one can produce by alterning these knobes are fantastic. The Jensen speaker that comes standard is very versitile and can withstand all volumes. What i found good was the cleaness of the sound at close to maximum volume and the unreal distortion at that level also.
This amp is a fantastia amp that is exteamly versitile and full.

Reliability : 8
I have only had one problem with the amp. After about 5 mounths i really started to test this bitch and i pupmed it to extreme levels and i dont know what went wrong but the amp stated cutting out and comeing back in volume(the sound not the power). I went to the place were i brought it and in a week they had it fixed and sound great like befor.

Customer Support : No Opinion
i have never dealt with them only the place were i brought the product.

Overall Rating : 10
The Blue Devil is so versitile and has such a great sound that i would'nt think twice if i had to buy another one. I think that these amps put the 50W marshalls to shame because of the price, sound quality and quality.

Great amp. Works very well for my style - I've yet to discover 'my style'. It is very versitile though it should be noted there are 33 different pre sets instead of 99 because each pre has 2 other set ups for the one that was chosen, they have a stereo and a mono and another configuration..I don't have the manual handy.I really like the 1-12 because other amps in the blue devil's prive range only have 8- 10" speakers..gotta have the extra lows from the 12"er!
To get the complete functionality of this amp study the manual. It really opened my eyes about this little gem.
Headphone jack works great no added distortion or noise.
Use the effects loop it's great! A huge SIXTY Watts of power!

Sound Quality : 10
I've got an Epiphone Les Paul Standard with gibson designed humbucker pick ups, with fairly hot pups. It's quiet when it's supposed to be and somewhat noisy in the compressed settings.Hell channel and Heaven channels are wonderful at all levels.
The controls are very sensitive be very reserved in tweaking the high mid and low knobs.
Makes all the great tones of Fender twin, marshalls etc.
I've cranked it up a bit and it sounds great at all levels(no distortion added).
I also run an Ibanez AEG 10 Acoustic/Electric that sounds fantastic thru it. I also run a Yamaha bass thru it and it works good with basses, too! I wish I had my Oberheim OB-1 keyboard to check it out with, too.
I play rock, pop, metal and some country and it does what I ask it to do.I was running thru the presets and found a great fender twin sound..I'll just let you find it.. :P

Reliability : 10
I've had it for 6 months and haven't had any problems. Built like a small tank and moderately heavy, for me that is.I'm not used to lugging around equipment.
I plug it into the surge supressor to keep it from having any problems: After all it has a computer inside. I have a back up but I hope I wouldn't need it because it cost $75 more without as much versitility.

Customer Support : 3
Warranty is one year..Got it from Marrs( try it for 30 days) so I guess I get an extra month, that I'm hopeful that I won't need. :-)

Overall Rating : 10
I love this amp! Considering the price of my back up amp(rocktron r50c) and this one
there is no comparison.
I've had a tube fender bandmaster and a Peavey and this is the best by far.
If someone were to steal it I would skin them alive and mail it to Ted Nugent and have him make me a belt or a pair of boots or something out of their sorry carcass!
I'm sure I've missed some things that I'm overlooking on this amp, but for the money and features it can't be beat!
I would totally buy this again and I recommend this to everyone that wants a huge bang for your buck.
I would go so far as to recommend the 2-12 version of this amp on this one's performance.

This is an update of my previous review. First, I want to say that I still like the sound of Blue Devil, and I still got no problems with it so far.

What I've done are some experimentations with it, and I just want to share some results with all of you:
1. To me, it sounds and feels much, much bettter without back panel. You can try for yourself, it's very easy to remove and install it anytime - it is fixed only with 4 long screws.
2. My favourite mod for this amp - now I can't even play without this one. Connect "Insert Send" to "AUX In" with short cable, and turn AUX knob full right. You'll be amazed how it changes overall sound, makes it bigger, warmer and deeper! Especially if you set both channels volumes almost on max, like I like. Sound that came out of it (on band volumes, thought) really can't compare with unmodded one - it's a higher class to me. I think in this way power amp goes into tube-like overdrive, and that's what giving me THAT sound.
3. You can eliminate delay when switching channels if you're using the same patch on effects with both clean and drive channels - I found myself to use reverb almost exlusively. Or, you can do previuos mod, and delay will be almost non-existent, because it tooks so long to switch channels only for FX-processor, not for preamp.

Overall, and after all of this, I would still give it a real 10! Think 11 would be even nicer, thought... ;))

I Play country, classic rock, blues, and bluegrass. The amp is very loud with most settings. I do run it through the board for most venues. A midi foot controller would be a wise investment. To select an effect you have to use the up/down buttons; not so good when you want to go from 01 to 99. Rotary knobs like a POD would be cool. LCD's are hard to read on stage.

Sound Quality : 8
The amp is very versatile. Very rarely do I have the need for external effects. We play country, blues, classic rock, and oldies. My main axe is an American Standard Tele, but it sounds cool with all my guitars. The DSP sounds are mostly warm and natural. You can change a couple of the parameters of a preset on the fly.

Reliability : 8
No problems so far.

Overall Rating : 10
Nothing like it for the price you pay. If it was $100-$150 more it would still be worth it. The quality of construction is very good. The weight is excellant. The DSP is very natural.

I have had this amp for 6 months now, gigging almost every weekend in local clubs. I'll be honest - I just wanted an amp that had a good "clean" sound (using my effects pedals), and enough power to gig with. Others have said that this amp doesn't have the power to gig with, but I have found it works for me. I turn the master vol. to around 7, the channel vol. about 5. I like the vibe I get from this. I play in a rock cover band (60's-00's) - It works fine, and is lightweight. I use a slant amp stand and the speaker is about 4 feet from my ear, so it doesn't have to be too loud (amp is mic'd)
The effects are pretty good mostly - I usually just use a little spring reverb and my own effects - at home practicing, I use the amps effects.
The channel switching has a slight delay, as has been noted. I use the clean channel exclusively (at gigs) so this isn't an issue.

Sound Quality : 8
I use a '72 Telecaster Deluxe and a Jackson DKMG (both w/humbuckers) and like the results with this amp. Some have bashed the sound of this amp - but note, the EQ's are extremely active - a slight adjustment causes a big difference in sound - I find this to be a plus, not a minus. I think some folks just haven't figured out how to drive this amp. It takes a little getting used to.

Reliability : 9
Have gigged about once a week for six months. I don't abuse my equip. and have had no problem. The amp has never crapped out or done anything weird yet. I do depend on it, but of course, always have a backup.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Haven't had to use customer support.

I've played for over 30 years. Own too much other stuff to list, but other amps are: MusicMan 2-12, 130W (love it, but it's too damn heavy) Fender Showman, Peavey Classic 2-12, 50w (not enough power - good for recording).
For the price I paid, no complaints at all. If you want Mesa-Boogie leverl quality, shell out the bucks.

German design, made in China 2001. See the other reviews for features. A lot of features for the money. Useful footswitch included (channel switch, effects on/off per channel). Switching between channels takes time which you wouldn't expect anymore in this age of fast processors. Minor gripe: you cannot combine the effects the way you want, the effects processor has satandard combinations of only two effects together. I hardly use the effects though apart from the reverb (which is quite a good one). But to learn how effects work and how to tweak them, the processor suits the needs of the beginning player more than adequately.

Sound Quality : 9
I have been playing for 20 years. I play semi-professionally now in a couple of groups (blues, r 'n' r, country, pop, southern rock). Main guitars are USA strats and teles. Live, I use a Koch 100watts Multitone (Dutch top-of-the-line amp). I use the Blue Devil at home and rehearsals. 65watts solid state does not really cut it in a live surrounding, but that's not what I use it for. At rehearsals I only use the clean channels together with my Boss pedals. The overdrive channel is better to be used with a humbucker equipped guitar, with s/coils it sounds a little screechy but if you tweak long enough I'm sure you'll find a useful sound. The sound of this amp altogether is just good, nothing special though, but hey, what do you expect for $350?

Reliability : 8
The amp looks very sturdy and I have not encountered any problems with it. Only two times while turning on the power, the effects processor "froze". After shutting of the power and turning it on again everything was o.k. If my other amp would break if would gig with this one without hesitation (altough I prefer a tube sound in general)

Customer Support : 8
Have never dealt with them about this amp, but I once sent them an e-mail about some other product (in English) and within a couple of hours they replied in my native tongue (Dutch). I hear Behringer is a reliable company in general but shippings of new stuff are erratic.

Overall Rating : 9
I think for the money it is a very good and easy to use amp. I am very happy with it and would replace it immediately if it were stolen or lost. I am in the comfortable position to have both a practice and live amp so I do not need to use this amp in both situations, but if I had to I would definitely use it live. Thumbs up for the Blue Devil!

The features are all listed in other reviews, so I won't bother restating the obvious. Needless to say, it's a full-featured amp.

Sound Quality : 10
I'm not much more than a beginning player (calling me a lousy player would probably be far too kind to me) but I'm working on it. I like to (attempt to) play classic rock and folk/country, mostly. The amp sounds AWESOME. (Even though I'm not much of a guitar player at the moment, I've been playing other instruments for just about 35 years, so I feel like I can tell what sounds good and what doesn't.) The clean channel is nice and bright and clear, the hell channel is, well, nice and dirty. The amp is a little noisy just sitting there plugged in, but that's not an issue with me. I don't know what happens to the sound at really high volumes, since about half volume is quite sufficient to rattle the windows in my house.

The effects are what really turn me on about this amp, though. I found that number 33 (phaser) setting will make a sound that is so spooky and spacy that the hair on the back of my neck just about stands on end. The pitch shifter is really interesting, too. All the effects work very well, though, so far as I've been able to discover.

I play a '69 Thinline Tele reissue and a special edition ash Strat, and they both sound as good as anything I've heard. The amp really brings out the twang in the Tele, and it really brings out the best in the Strat, too.

Reliability : 10
Fine so far, but I don't move it around much, so it's not like it gets physically abused. No glitches in the electronics so far, either. I'll give it a ten since I don't see where I would have any problems in the future.

Customer Support : No Opinion
No idea.

Overall Rating : 10
It's not a Marshall stack, but it doesn't cost like one, either. I messed with a bunch of amps before I got this one, and this one is BY FAR the best value for the money that I found. I couldn't find anything that approached it for less than $750. Yes, if it got stolen or lost I'd get another one in a heartbeat. I rated this amp at straight tens because you get so freaking much more amp than you pay for.

I think that the sound is excellent. Granted, it's no mesa or marshall, but it does hold up well for it's price range. It suits all styles really well. I use an epiphone sg with 2 open coil humbuckers and she sounds great. The only drawback, like it says on every review, is that there is a half second gap when you switch between channels (hence the 7 vs a 9) - but for a practice amp, it suits just fine. Just because doesn't mean...

I wouldn't neccessarily take her for a gig but I guess you could send it through a pa and it would work fine. She has never broke down and she seems really solid.

Great deal for a PRACTICE amp - not a go on nationwide tour like alot of the jack... (well you know) are saying. If it were stolen, I would definitely buy it again - but NOT for a nationwide tour. I wish it did had a better warranty but it seems really solid. ps there are a couple effects that are set to sould like a mesa and a marshall, so if you don't have a ton of money to spend on a mesa, then you should get this!

I was originalyy looking to buy a peavey transtube(one of the new ones) either a bandit or studio pro.
Since i have a behringer v-amp i was keen to try this amp when i found it at #199 in shop.
It sounds far less fizzy than the peavey`s,although it doesnt do the high gain/thrash scoop thing at all.

I found it lacking in gain until i added a boss od-1.

The amp has great low end and a "compressed" feel, even more so cranked up.with the od-1 its great for classic rock/metal(again no teeni-booper mid scoop function).

I was disapointed that although you can tweak the fx section, you cant save the tweaked settings, which is a pain. The midi implementation on this is also complete crap.It doesnt have "programs" like most midi units consisting of both channel and fx.The channel changing and midi program changing is completley independant.MY art controller wont switch the channels, and you cant change which midi program on the behringer corresponds to witch effect.Just try changing from patch 01 to 99...thats bank switch 9 times..
so zero for the badly thought out midi..

however if you can live with the supplied fswch, you can at least have one effect per channel and switch it on and of and it remembers which effect is with which channel..

Even with this complaint its a great unit for the money if you can live without instant access to all the fx.The odrive channel is great for rock/blues and with an overdrive pedal does great classic rock/metal.

it looks great too,a bit different to the usual stuff

no if behringer will just stick a v-amp in combo..

i think the one i played was made in 2000, cuz they can't be selling thaqt well. this one was at the music store and they were practically giving them away. The features have already been done, so let's move on. This amp had a lot of different models but it was a pain to cycle through them all to find something that sounded decent. another thing: only one effect at a time, so you can't combine chorus and reverb for example. wtf? it is made of flimsy plywood and although it was a floor model, i was surprised to see it falling apart at the seams, barely able to hold its own weight and keep from falling to the ground in a pile of crappy electronics. i was playing it, and never got a chance to see if it had enough volume, cuz as soon as i turned it up, it blew.

Sound Quality : 1
i play rock, blues, jazz, grunge, some clean stuff, some heavy. this amp seems limited by itself, and its lack of flexibility. not that it matters, since i doubt it would last anyone very long. it was not noisy when it blew. i was a little disappointed. what sounds can it make? "pop!" not much variety in that. the clean channel never made it to high volumes. it blew before it ever peaked. i woudl say the disortion is "explosive."

Reliability : 1
like i said, it blew on the trial run, so take your chances people. i figured there had to be something to it when they were blowing out these 60 watt amps with all these features for 200 bucks. now i know. it's crap. but what do you expect for 200? a marshall stack? yes, the amp has broken down. instantly. the construction is flimsy and eveidently the electronics aren't so great either.

Customer Support : No Opinion
why bother? just don't buy the damn thing. it's a piece of shit.

Overall Rating : 1
been playing about 15 years. i've played some good amps, and some not so great. this amp is pure crap. if it were stolen or lost, i would laugh at the idiot who risked going to prison for this worthless hunk of dung. i love that it blew before i bought it instead of after. i hate that any company would put crap like this on the market, because some poor bastard who really needs an amp and doesn't have any money is gonna roll the dice and come up snake eyes. it's a crying shame. you suck, behringer. the slogan should be, "Behringer, just smoke it." this doesn't compare to any other products. it couldn't compete with my 15 watt Gorilla. and yes, i do own better than that. do yourself a favor. steer clear of this amp or you will regret it. most of the reviews on this site are form guys who just bought the thing and are still in that happy go-lucky romantic stage with it, or guys who have never owned anything better than a 15 watt crate, and thinkl it's the next mesa boogie.

Im playing a 2000 Epiphone Les Paul Standard with Seymour Duncan Alnico Pro II (both neck and bridge positions)And yes, I am a huge Slash fan. My style is Guns n' Roses bluesrock ,and this amp just doesn't do that sound. I'm saving up for a Marshall tube amp cause that's the Slash sound I want. But the sound ain't bad considered the price paid for this amp! There are also some effects they call amp modelling but I can't get a decent sound from that. The delay is good but as with all the effects when you alter the presets and it is just good, switch to the other channel one time and back and you have to alter it again, frustrating! The amp is not noisy but is very loud, since it only sounds decent when the volume is half up or higher it is not a good practise amp if you have neighbours.

Reliability : 8
The amp once acted very strange but that was probably because the powercable wasn't connected that well so no probs but I haven't gigged with this thing cause I don't like the sound that much. I usually play through a Marshall Valvestate 265R or something like that.If you like the sound I think you can depend on it for a gig.

I play for two years now and since this was my first amp I do not have anything to compare it with except a lousy Park 15 watt piece of shit which I borrowed from a friend. If I lost it I would buy a Marshall like i said before. The effects sound fine but you can't combine them and that is very irritating. and you can't do a fast channel switch because there is an awful delay. When I bought this thing, i compared it to a Peavey Bandit but I bought this one cause this one has all the effects on board. By now I rather had the Bandit cause I only use distortion and no effects.

Since Behringer has decided to "give" their equipment away I took the suggestion of a stanger and I'm sooooooo glad I did! I purchased a Blue Devil for $250 and since I felt like I had ripped Behringer off I also bought their V-Amp for $150 and plugged it in through the effects loop on the amp...WHAMMO! I'm telling ya true ~ DIS IS DA SHET BRO!!

This amp is an '01 Behringer. This two channel amp features 60 watts rms of power, 1 12" 100 watt speaker, heaven (clean) and hell (gain) channels, multi-effects processor with 99 presets(Reverb, delay, phaser chorus, flanger, pitch shifter, speaker simulator, compressor, expander, wah, tube emulator, etc) and three fx parameters to adjust effects, 3-band EQ, metal footswitch for channels and effects switching, aux in and out, insert in and out (for stomp boxes), stereo line in and out, midi compatable. All of this for $230 bucks at Mars Music. Ya gotta give it a 10. People, find me an amp that has this many features at this price. Enough said.

Sound Quality : 9
Currently I am playing a Fernandes Montery Standard with stock pickups. This amp has a great sound for $230. The clean channel is quiet nice and rich like a tube amp, hell channel can hold its own except if you need death metal distortion. In that case you will need a stomp box like most other amps. Now the effects! The effects are quite nice. With 99 presets that are programable with the 3 FX parameter controls, you will have plenty to work with. The only effect that I wasn't happy with was the wah presets, but I am adjusting it to hopefully get the sound I am looking for (try doing that with a line 6!) The real only shortcoming I could find is the delay between switching channels. You have to time your channel switching about a 1/2 second before you want the channel to change. For this reason I am forced to give it a 9. For the money you can't find anything better than this amp. It doesn't sound like a $2000 dollar Mesa. Thats why the Mesa IS $2000! But in the $500 and under, this amp is great. And for the people who left a review when they only tried the amp in the store, begone! Your reviews mean nothing because you haven't even began to explore what this amp can do.

Reliability : 10
Haven't had any problems with it.

Customer Support : 4
Tried to email the company twice and no response. I hope that this doesn't becomes a problem. Warranty is only 1 year. I will give it a 4 because I still have hope that they will be responsive to my inquries.

Overall Rating : 10
I have been playing for two years now. If this amp were stolen or lost, may the one who stole it burn, and I would probably buy the 212 version ( its only 50 bucks more). I love this amp with the exception of the delay between channel switching. But Behringer has a MIDI footswitch that can hold ten different presets per channel. I hope that will fix the problem. The pedal is only $129 bucks. For the money, nothing beats this amp. It puts the Line 6 Spider to shame and with the amp and MIDI footswitch, it still cost less than a 112 Spider. Great value.

This amp is a 2001 model. I think your able to play every style of music you want on this amp. The amp feature 2 channels called Heaven(clean) and Hell(dirty)how rock and roll is that. It comes with a footswitch that allows you to switch channels and effects. It has 24 effects like reverb, flanger, delay, wah, phaser, chorus, tremolo, rotary speaker, magic drive, pitch shifter and compressor. I think this amp is perfect for people who don't want to waste too much but want to sound some what professional. The blue devil has 65 watts so it will cause people to scream "turn that down."

Two-channels, clean and crap distortion. The effects, while plentiful, cannot be combined. While not a crime, it's hard to imagine NOT using REVERB, so, unless you have another EFX rack, you're kind screwed.

I tested one out yesterday, looking for something to run my J-Station into, so, the lack of combinable effects ain't a major deal, but I noticed MOST of these reviews don't discuss that shortcoming.

So, yeah, a 10 for all the groovy effects, but -3 for not being able to combine them, and -3 for the GAPING 1/2 second of SILENCE when switching channels. How can that even be considered acceptable? Basically, you gotta pick a channel, and do the song with it... not a great feature.

Sound Quality : 5
Clean is clean. The "Hell" sound is CRAP. Again - I just tested this in the store, trying a strat and a les paul, but couldn't get ANYTHING usable out of the HELL channel. I play Blues/Funk/Rock, and was looking for something that could jump between those. Okay, yes, I started out just looking for an amp for my J-Station, but once I tried this thing out, I was trying EVERYTHING out, in the event that I could just bring a guitar and the amp and be done.

The sounds AREN'T as amazing as others say they are. You may as well bring your home stereo and plug your guitar into that. It WAS a clean channel, but MUDDY. Add the am-radio distortion, and you have Muddy Distortion... the kind that disappears when playing with a whole band.

Reliability : No Opinion

Sure, for $229, this is great. But even with the rawking 100w 12" speaker and 60 watts, this thing is a practice amp... meaning, you practice at home alone. If you're a 14-yr old wanting to start out, great, this is the amp for you. If you're 40 and just wanna knock around at home, yeah, this is for you.

But for gigging? I gotta think that you won't be happy.

Many features. Nearly 100 effects that are all able to be altered by the user. Two channels, headphone jack, effects loop, channel and effect footswitch is included! The two channels are Heaven (clean and slightly distorted sounds) and Hell (distortion). Using the different effects and switching between channels, I can get hundreds of different sounds out of this amp.

Sound Quality : 9
I use a Fender Stratocaster. My music style includes blues, rock, jazz, and funk. The clean setting has a beautiful, rich sound perfect for jazz guitar and rythym playing. The distortion is good but you can't dial in very crunchy distortion if needed. This amp can do so much, it is THE MOST VERSATILE AMP in its price range.

Reliability : 10
Seems very sturdy and reliable. I would not expect to need a backup; however, at 60 watts it is not quite powerful enough to gig with.

Customer Support : 9
I haven't had any personal experience with the company but I have heard that they are very helpful and supportive of their products.

Overall Rating : 9
This amp is amazing for the price. Just a solid, effective amplifier that can satisfy most guitar players. I owned a $500 Hughes and Kettner that wasn't as good as this amp. Very loud for 60 watts and the effects are superb. I highly recommend this amplifier!

Newish (MF blem. Thanks to you guys who send 'em back). Since it was made in China, It was made in the year of the rat (I think)--possibly weasel. I don't ask much versatility out of my amps, but I do like a few bells and whistles. The first thing I did with this amp was turn off all the effects and listened to the sound of the amp, dry. Both clean (heaven) and distorted (hell) channels sounded nice to my ears. It nails the Joe Walsh "Walk Away" sound mightily. I do lots of different styles of music but I bought this one for a classic rock project I'm working on. Since the arsenal of effects used in that era were somewhat limited (and left to the technique of the player) I only use a few. The compression presets (2) are quite usable, the choruses are full and tweakable, the reverbs and delays are very natural sounding (though the decays can be a little dry if not adjusted properly). This is two channel amp--clean and distorted. I use A Snarling Dogs "Blue Doo" (with mechanical bypass) to give me two channels of distortion. A very good O.D. unit, though not really a distortion box. It comes with a foot pedal for switching channels ( I hate "optional" add-ons that are a must--if we need them, include them in the price. The amp is used both live and in studio and has plenty of volume for me. I don't need to peel the paint off the walls, just be heard. It has a stereo out if you need more volume. That's enough. It has a headphone jack, which is a nice touch, but it's only a mono amp unless you use the line out. I heard Behringer is putting out a stereo model of this amp. Isn't that always the way. Just when you buy a new item, they come out with the "new, improved" model. Oh, well. I'm pretty happy with this one.

Sound Quality : 8
I'm using both single and hummer equipped guitars with this, but I do prefer the sound of the hummers. I have an Aslin Dane Jazz Jumbo (an over-sized 335) that absolutely sings with this amp. It does feed back a bit, so I just contacted Bernie at AD and ordered the ALP-2H (chambered like the Guild Bluesbird--another Aslin Dane gem. Check these axes out. They're awsome--and affordable). It's pretty quiet with the hummers. I've scrolled through every sound and played with the parameters for a few days now. I must say I wasn't too thrilled with it at first. I even considered sending it back. But after toning down some of the effects and letting the amp and guitar color the sound, I found I was beginning to really like the amp. I found "my sound" in there--which is based on analog circuitry. I was surprised. After I tweak the EQ and OD modules, I add a little something from the palette of effects. That's the best way to do it. The amp won't play you--you have to learn to play it. The distortion--if that's what you want to call it--is really more of an OD. It's great for classic stuff and really nice for blues. Whether it will give the thrashers and head-bangers a woody, I have no idea. Probably better to stick to the Marshalls and boutique amps.

Reliability : No Opinion
I haven't had it that long, but I know Behringer stuff and solid state is a better bet than tubes--at least in theory. We'll see how the cabinet holds up to being moved in the rain. That particle board crap is really absorbant.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Again, I have no idea. The warranty card say to send it back to the dealer, not the manufacturer. That would be MF (an interesting acronym, no?) or Musician's Friend (I've never been invited over for a beer, so I'm not sure of the depth of our friendship).

Overall Rating : 9
I've been hacking away at these stringed boards for neigh on 35 years now. My arsenal is constantly in flux, with stuff going in and out of my house on aregular basis. I've owned some of the best stuff on the market, but lately I've been buying the lower end, higher quality equipment--and with pretty good success. Aslin Dane has been a find in itself. Anyone who loves Gibson should check them out. They beat all. I paid $350.00 for the Jazz Jumbo 335, and it blows away anything in its category, whatever the price. I also play Ibanez; but the older ones. The newer ones are really going bad--sorry guys. I have a Roland JC-77, an old Gibson Explorer amp (just redone), a home-made Strat, and the Aslin dane ALP-2H I'm expecting any day. I didn't mean for this to turn into an ad for AD, but you did ask. I couldn't compare this amp to any other, since it seems to have a niche of its own. Judging by the response from most of the reviewers here, they like it too. Again, I'm not big on bells and whistles, but this amp also has the bare-bones sound I like. If I can turn off all the effects, just play both channels dry, and love the amp, then I have to say that this little guy is a big-time winner. And for the price...
you can't lose.
If it were lost or stolen I'd call in an airstrike on some innocent country that had nothing to do with the theft (it would make me feel better) then I probably buy the new Behringer stereo Blue devil (when it arrives).
Anything els I'd like to share? Yeah. To my neighbor: if you don't shut that stupid dog up I'm going to call an airstrike on your house too! Time to put the Behringer in the window and practice my AC/DC riffs at 3:00 A.M. Long live Rock & Roll (but not beagles)!

I just tested the 112 combo & was impressed. The I read all the consumer comments, and decided to compare. The Line 6 112 combo CANNOT
compare to the BEHRINGER 112 FX combo (Period). I was in love with the line 6 until I heard about the WORLD's best kept secret of late.
BEHRINGER. So my rating for Line 6 is a 6.5

Line 6 sounds pretty good; I rate it a 7. I heard only samples of the Behringer, which PACKS more Hellish PUNCH

Remember that the one and only Ronnie James told you this first. The
line 6 turned me on (& I still like it) but the Behringer 112 Digital
FX amp is 100.00 bucks cheaper (I paid 299.00) and it's 60 watts of
power(versus Line6's 112 amp--which is 50 watts). The Behringer comes with a dual Foot-Pedal/Switch. Line six costs 69.00 for theirs. You do the math!

2 channel, 60 watts RMS, effects loop, line and headphone outs, aux in. 24/48 built-in stereo effect processor. Assembled in China, designed in Germany.
Amp is versatile enough for gigs, rehearsals, recording and practicing - hence the name Guitar Workstation. Buit-in in effect processor and speaker-emulated line-out sounds great recording direct.

Sound Quality : 8
Well, I use Ibanez RG550 straight into Blue Devil. I play different styles - from blues to hardrock to heavymetal to trash. I think this amp is suited more for blues - you just can't get Pantera or Metallica sound from it without additional stompboxes.
You can, however, get VERY nice blues sounds from this amp. In fact, "Virtube" tube emulation technology by Behringer works very well to my ears - it gives you that tubey compression and sustain that costs so much nowadays...
Very reasonable line-out sound - every night I use it to plug amp into PC and jamming or recording something according to my mood... like it!
To me this amp likes LP more than Strats, at least on the Hell (drive) channel.

Reliability : 8
Don't know, I just buy it few days ago, but amp construction looks pretty sturdy. Also I should mention very good power supply - no scratches or crackles on power spikes.
Looks like it would last.

Well, what can I say. I really like Blue Devil, and I can't wait to try few stompboxes with it to see how it will behave in metal land...
Also I think it is just GREAT for the price - all other brands don't ever comes close with such a "bang for the bucks"...
BTW, I see very good reason for Behringer for such a low price - it's a first guitar combo from Behringer, and they are trying to attract guitar players to brand. Anyway, it sounds great, plays great, looks great and has a great price - so I'll give it a 10.

This is a great amp for the price. It's a solid state amp.It has a clean and distortion(overdrive)channel, three band EQ,a seperate volume control for both channels and a master volume ,Multiefects processor, aux in and out, right and left lines out, midi in, headphone jack, efects loop, and a two switch footswitch, one for clean or dirty and one for efects bypass. Also it has a tube amp emulator. 60 watts is plenty of power even for small gigs.I use this amp in my home studio(ideal),but I also use it when I jam with the boys. This amp pretty much matches my old fender twin reverb amp.

Sound Quality : 10
I play a Fender american standard with a hotrail in the bridge, as well as acoustic guitars. They all sound great through this amp,Good high end as well as low end.The reverb or should I say reverbs are part of the efects processor, you have several to choose from and they sound great.Including reverb, there are 99 efects to choose from, but you can only use one at a time per channel. The clean channel is very nice and clean even cranked, what more can be said. The distortion is actually overdrive(some people still dont know the difference),and a good sounding overdrive at that, great for heavy bluesy stuff.I use a seperate distortion pedal for heavy metal.

I've had this amp about seven months and it's been flawless, and yes I would trust it for a gig without a backup.

This is a '00 amp. I think Behringer has really done an incredible job with this little work of art. I play a little of every kind of music, and this amp has raelly taken the challenge. It is a solid state amp, but has an tube emulater. The amp has a 100 watt shark speaker and 60 watt head. I currently use it at home, but it can be used for recording or live playing as well. The aux., Line in, and input(you can plug an effects pedal directly into the back of the amp w/ this so you don't lose signal) jacks, it's versatile. The 99 adjustable effects are also helpful. With a POD(or something similar),it would be PERFECT. Two channels-clean and distoted-can be used with the included footswitch.

Sound Quality : 9
I am currently playing through a LP knock-off, but I've played a strat through it to. They both sound awesome! The clean channel stays clean at high volume levels. The distortion channel is great to. With the dist. up all the way, and the bass eq up all the way, this thing can really crunch and scream.

The amp was made this year (2001) in germany, I mainly play hardcore and some metal on it. Its got 2 channels - heaven and hell - clean and dirty. Plus 99 effects built in it. I only use this at home at the moment because I play bass in my main band (www.iaef.co.uk) so its fine for me, plus I am sure it would be okay for small gigs too. An extension cab for this would be cool, I dunno if there is one available, but this does have loads of features.

An incredibly versatile amp (see other listings). Behringer has a 2x12 planned for this model so that you would get stereo output right out of the speakers (I want one!)and it appears the possibility of a seperate "Head" as they have built a 4x12 slant cabinet (I hope so).

Sound Quality : 10
I have a collection of guitars, all of which are different makes and configurations. I have not found a poor match with this amp. Some of the settings are a bit out-there for me personally but for God's sake they gave me 99 different ones to play with (that I can fully edit mind you) so of course not every single one is going to be to my personal taste. Try spending $1,000 on an amp and realise that it doesn't quite suit your fancy or isn't versatile enough. If you buy this amp and don't like it (which I cannot fathom) contact me.

Bought this one as a "damaged" unit from MF(as previously reviewed when first purchased)and with all of its minor cab probs the unit is flawless in sound...obviously excellent electronics. If the cab was made better and the shipping boxes were made of Titanium THE COST WOULD GO UP! (Do you not get this or what?) If you have the money to go buy a Matchless Chieftain then why on Earth are you reviewing this amp!?! If you are some Guitar God why would you waste your time here? This amp was designed for THE LOWEST COST/MAXIMUM QUALITY SOUND you can achieve...it preforms PERFECTLY (and then some). If you are doing home recording or are playing at home this is "THE" amp! For $300 you are getting the best deal you'll EVER get in music gear, I PROMISE! Please notice that negative responses are coming back on this from ANONYMOUS PEOPLE (it takes all kinds I'll tell ya). If you're going to do what I did (rebuild the cab) all you have to do is disassemble it and make sure that the pieces you replace are exactly the same size ...DUH! This is why we have to put warning labels on Q-Tips...DUH!

Customer Support : 10
Behringer is absolutely SWAMPED with back orders and is having a lot of trouble keeping up because of the response to their incredible products. They have taken the time to speak to me but I had to wait until they could find time. This is THE ONLY company out there that is providing the adverage guy with ULTRA HIGH QUALITY equipment at a reasonable and fair price.

Overall Rating : 10
Notice closely the negative remarks you find on this amp. What is they are really saying? That the company should take all kinds of efforts and raise the price to $600? If you want to "stack" effects and get WAY, WAY out there then use the loop with an outboard Virtualizer and/or Modulizer...you won't be disappointed! Get yourself a good quality stereo 1/4" into seperate left & right and record this thing and it will blow yer arse against the wall! THIS IS AWESOME!

What can I say, This amp has the best tone range. The clean stays clean, even at incredibly loud volume. The Hell channel is great also. This by far the best sounding amp I have ever used. If you can't get a good sound out of this amp then it's either the fact that you are playing $99 piece of crap guitar or your an idiot.

I honestly love this amp and of this one were gone suddenly I would not even think twice about byuing another one, in fact I am thinking of buying another one for stereo effects purpose. I am a 10 year guitar player and I use a lot of effects peadls besides the amps built in ones but the stuff in that amp is amazing sounding. Behringer REALLY knows what they are doing and they have made a great contribution to the combo amp world. They are going to give Line Sucks a run for the money. Everything you get for $300 is WELL worth it.

This amp was stamped in OCT 2000 (made in China with cheap and heavy particle board cabinet). Too many features, need time to try it out. If you are an in/out nuts, you will be a happy one. I'd like to try the MIDI in some day.

Clean chanel sounds great for a 19x13 room. You can play classical guitar pieces with a very distinctive sound. I use a Fishman Rare Earth Blender on Alvarez-Yari GC-1. The factory preset 84 fits my instrument pretty well. The sound is fat, full, warm and clear, very tube-like sound. I don't care about "HELL" chanel, I might need it later. It would be ridiculous to try the distortion on an amplified acoustic guitar. This amp is not made for gig (I agree with some other comments)

My first amp was delivered by UPS. The cabinet was brutally handled by UPS employees . So many dent and scratch found on the cabinet but the amp still worked so well. I totally agree with the guy who had the foreinsic observation on shipping box. The packaging design need to be improved. Such a heavy amp shoud be packed adequately. I returned it to MF and requested them to send me another via FEDEX, the later know better what they're doing.
My advise to potential buyers:
Request shipping via FEDEX
My advise to Behringer:
Redesing shipping box, tolex cover and plywood cabinet would be a bonus even if you increase the price.
I will tell you guys later if any thing happens to this amp. I am a happy amp user so far.

I don't count on Behringer. They want the buyer to send them the registration card 10 days after purchasing date. I don't know if they know that most distributors in the US have 30 to 45 day-return policy. I think if something happens to your amp, you will be on your own.

Musician's Friend has some nice representatives if you are lucky to connect with one of them.

UPS is out of my list.

I've been playing guitar for 30 years (constantly, even during my US medical licensing exam review), mainly classical. Since I've moved in in this country (the US, a really great one ), fingerstyle jazz , jazz guitar make me feel eager to start this instrument from the begining. I'm just itching to amplify the guitar sound. I might not have enough experience in guitar amplification but if I compare this amp's guitar sound to my high-end tube amp stereo system, the former is very acceptable for clean-sound searcher, especially in this range of price (from the everybody-has-to-work-hard-for-money standpoint).
Thank you all for comments posted in this webpage. I found so many helpful hints. Best wishes to you all.

Musically yours,

LV

I think the amp was made recently, but I'm not sure just when. It has so many effects it should be versatile enough to satisfy any style of playing. It has 2 channels and a footswitch for switching between the 2 and bypassing the effects. Also included is a headphone jack which mutes the speaker, stereo line out, stereo auxilary inputs, effects loop, and midi. I am using it primarily for home recording, so the 60 watts is plenty of power for me. I do wish it had a "master" reverb that I could use with every effect.

Sound Quality : 10
I am using a Peavey T-60 electric guitar with the amp and dabble in just about any style that strikes my fancy at the time. I have found the amp to be very quiet on most settings. It can get a little noisy with some of the effects in the "dirty" channel. In the "clean" channel I have not heard any distortion at higher volumes. I reckon I'm from the old school when it comes to guitar amps, so all the sounds I am able to produce on this amp really blow me away. I can't quit playing and experimenting with it. The reverbs are so full and rich compared to what I am used to. I say"reverbs" because there are several different styles of reverb emulated. I just wish they were available on all the effects. After you "tweak" an effect just the way you like it you can save it as such. The factory settings are easily restored. A number pad would be nice to quickly call up an effect instead of having to scroll up and down through them all to get to the one you want to use. But for the money......I am very well pleased.

Reliability : No Opinion
I've only had the amp for a week now, so I can't comment on the reliability of it. The bottom of the cabinet was slightly cracked when it came, but I love the amp and will put a plywood plate on the inside of the bottom of the cabinet to prevent any further damage

Customer Support : No Opinion
Never had to deal with the company so again I can't really comment. It's a little scary knowing they are all the way in Germany, though.

I have been playing for 36 years and own several guitars, basses, etc. I bought this amp because my old Peavey amp blew up. I chose this amp because of the many effects and line out for my home recording projects. After playing it for a week I have fallen in love with it. My mind swirls at all the possibilities of uses for this amp for my songs I have yet to record. If it was stolen I would order another one right away, because I could not find another amp this versatile for $300.00. Even my acoustic/electric instruments sound so crisp and clear through this amp. If you have a home studio I would highly recommend this amp to you.

well, this amp is really loaded i guess. it has soooooo many features that i don't wanna name ' all here again. id rather say something about the things that i think are still missing. you get quite a bunch of really great reverb type FX and some quite nice combinations too but i'd like to combine that 4x12 combo effect with some reverb type effect to give the sound a 'soul'. i like FX but i wouldn't mind less of 'em in trade for a 'normal' reverb on each channel that i could at to each effect. i tend to think that some delay reverb effect is needed for almost every sound since i don't really like the sound of this amp without any FX (wouldn't like that on any other amp either). it seems that behringer really known how to make a good FX module.

Sound Quality : 9
i'm using a crappy cort cs-100 (or something), humbucker equiped with this amp, but also my buddies yamaha pacifica 112 and his epiphone les paul knock off (not much my liking). i'm saving up to buy a cort MGM signature, a truly wonderful guitar that i can only recommend to everybody out there.
with my buds pacifica i can get a huge variety of great sounds, but still i can't get used to some things (see features section). i bought this combo about two months ago and it took me some time to get an idea of what i can do with it. it took me hours to try (sound-)settin after setting too. know that i know what can be done with this amp i'm really happy with it. the CLEAN channel is just so beautiful sounding. nothing else to say about that. HELL is ok but it i needed some time to find the settings i liked. the EQ is very sensitive, better then on any other amp i've played so far. you gotta really take your time to try and try to find what oyu like.
there's just one thing i'm gonna do to improve the sound. i guess i'll buy a boss ds-1 distortion or some little tube preamp. after those lil mods it will be a 10 for me CONSIDERING THE PRICE THE FEATURES AND THE SOUND. i 1000$ or more tube amp sure sounds better but #1 i don't need that (now), #2 i can't afford that (now and for a while).

Reliability : No Opinion
should be really reliabel but i only own this thing for a good 2 months so i don't think i can rate this amp here.

same as above. they've got a quite good website to download the instruction etc if you need to.

i've only been playing for about a year but i needed something else then my crappy peavy rage 158 (don't ever buy one of these). you can't find something that good within it's pricerange i guess. if i would have been able to spend some more money on a smaller amp i might have bought a fender blues junior just because for the fact that it's all tube design. i tend to think that tubes just have a certain special sound that almost no solid state amp could ever have. that is why i'm going to get a tube preamp sooner or later.

Lots of features; very acceptable.

Sound Quality : 5
Clean channel: excellent. Gets a 10.

Distorted channel: VERY TRANSISTORY except at very low practice volumes. Sounds like a kid's beginner amp. Might as well be a Crate or old Peavey or some other cheap transistor amp. Probably acceptable for a beginner high school garage band guitarist, but not for gigs. Plug a strat into it with SRV pickups and it makes a horrible clipping sound if you pluck hard. I had to back down on the strat's volume knob! Should not have to do that. RATING: 1

Reliability : 10
In my earlier review I noted that the two damaged amps still functioned electrically. So far it functions perfectly.

I had previously reviewed this amp; I'm the guy who had to order 3 units from Musician's Friend before getting an unbroken one. I'm glad that "AXEMAX" has and enjoys my second (returned) one; I contacted M.F. before my return and offered to keep it if they gave me a discount, but they preferred to eat the shipping costs. Kinda stupid of them!

The more I play it, the more I find it to be a $300 amp, and ONLY worth $300. The clean channel with the proper effects sounds great, but this is due to the effect processor. Those effects could make almost ANY solid state amp sound acceptable. The "Hell" channel has an inferior sound, period. I spent a lot of time tweaking it, and it still sounds VERY transistory. Tried it with my rock band; the other guys in my band agreed. True, when I back down on the guitar volume, it has a cleaned up effect on the distorted sound, kinda like tubes, but the overall sound is not acceptable. I think that the other guys who reviewed it and like the sound will eventually realize how it actually sounds. When you get to be a better, more experienced player you will hear it better I suppose. Maybe it is acceptable for bizzare stuff with the guitar lost in the mix, but it has a cheap transistor distorted sound.

Another problem: When switching between channels with the stomp switch, there is a delay of about a second, which means that you have to stomp 1 second early. Very annoying.

The unit is heavy in weight, due to the particle board. Plywood is more durable and lighter. To that guy who wants to expend effort "fixing up" this amp with an OAK cabinet: Don't change the interior dimensions of the cabinet. They perfected the mathematics of sound reflection inside speaker enclosures back in the 1920's; if you do it wrong you get phasing problems. Better to just buy a nicer amp; "you can put a candle on a cow pie, but that does not make it a birthday cake". Sorry!

Already listed above so I won't bother. What more could you ask for?

Dead Silent! Amazing Effects! Versatile? To Say The Least! Clean channel is incredibly crisp (not harsh) and vibrant. With a chorusing effect it is pure unadulterated "HEAVEN". The "HELL" channel has such character and personality that it's like a living being. The real question is..."What sounds can I NOT make with it?"

Reliability : 10
Not a single problem at all. They even made the cabinet shaped a certain way so that if it is knocked over it will not damage any of the controls (anybody else think of that?). Of course the cabinet isn't of great quality and the electrical cord is short but I'm not lazy (just cheap!) so I can definately work with this.

Haven't had any reason to contact them. I only pray that they stay in business (it's a jungle out there!) so that I can buy other gear of this quality in the future.

I have been playing for over 20 years and have had all the notable equipment through the ages. Recently fate has taken away all my gear and my best friend sent this to me as a gift. I am not easily impressed but let me tell you...this amp marks an epoch in the history of sound advancements. My friend called and told me that I would be receiving something soon that he called, "A DIGITAL MIRACLE OF SOUND". He was absolutely correct, I have never been so astounded by anything like this in all my time and experience and here it is in a box...a single, easy to use, combo that you and the U.S. Marshalls couldn't take away from me now. After just a couple of weeks of using it I want to bolt it down to the floor just to make sure that it's always there when I get home...PS ~ Max, your the best friend a guy could ever have! THANX

Well documented in earlier posts. A fine sounding S/S combo with an abundance of digital EFX to stir the pot. This amp seems to have some of the tonal compression that is usually the sole domain of the tube amp. I like that. The 3 global tone controls have a large effect on the overall timbre, more so than most amps I've played. Comes with a useful dual footswitch and an all-too-short power cord. I find the basic sound of this amp to be a cut above other S/S amps and the additional EFX are a fine icing on the cake.

It's rated at 60 watts coupled with a 100-watt rated speaker in a closed-back combo enclosure - unusual for a 1-12" amp I think. The efficiency (volume) seems fine although my 60 watt '83 Fender Concert sounds far more powerful when pushed. The EFX sound fine and are somewhat user programmable but you are limited to one effect per channel at a time. There are a couple of combo EFX but by and large it's one at a time. There is an EFX loop on the back to add your own processors as well. The EFX are in stereo but are summed to mono in the amp. There is a pre-eq'd stereo line out that exploits the EFX in stereo for direct connection to a recorder or mixer. All in all a really impressive little $300 amp. It's easier to cart around than my heavy JBL-loaded Concert amp too and that's a big plus for me.

Sound Quality : 8
I'm a longtime Fender man with a Strat & a Tele and they both sing thru this unit. My styles fall more into Mark Knopfler/EC/Roy Buchanan territory than anywhere else. The amp itself is quiet and noise only becomes a factor with single coil pups. The clean channel (Heaven) sounds really good - somewhat "Fender" like with a bit of the "thunk" that a good tube amp usually provides. Moving the cut & boost EQ controls enables wide timbre changes providing a lot of flexibility. The midrange in particular is very effective in character modification.

The distortion channel (Hell) has a fine, creamy sound to it and is very musical throughout its range. Again the EQ selection makes a huge difference in the overall sound. I don't find it particularly aggressive but then again I'm not looking for that either. There is an additional channel volume control that lets you easily match the loudness of the 2 different channels when switching. This is a good thing.

The EFX must be mentioned. Housed in this amp is basically a rack-mount Behringer EFX module that provides 24-bit digital reverbs, delays, modulations, pitch changes, compressors and some different speaker and amp voicings. You can align one setting to each channel at a time. There are some combo EFX (chorus + reverb or delay) but mostly it's one thing at a time. The inclusion of an effects loop was a wise choice. The built-in EFX sound good and there is some good variety available but one thing at a time is somewhat limiting. Still, to get this much choice on a $300 amp is a very good thing. Not all the EFX suited my taste out of the box but there are a couple of parameter settings you can adjust and save that let you voice the EFX to your own taste. This also is a good thing.

My rating is based on this amp against my Concert. Against other S/S amps it would be a 10.

Reliability : No Opinion
Unknown at this point. The basic integrity of the unit was good out of the box although the box itself was a mess. I suspect the packing department at Berhringer will soon be re-thinking the shipping box (see other reports on this below). I bought it at the local Mars music store with their 30-day return policy JIC. My feeling is that I will not need it.

Customer Support : 5
Knowing the main company is half a world away was not a good selling point. The warranty is only for one year, a little light considering other comparable amps. I doubt I would have bought a more expensive amp with these considerations. But my experience with S/S devices is that if it works as it should out of the box and for a couple of weeks or so than it should continue to work for a long time (barring any user-inflicted abuse). So I was willing to take a bit of a chance on this amp for $300 - there's a lot of bang for the buck here.

There is one authorized service center in the US and it's nowhere near Texas so I realize I'm kinda on my own with this one. If it passes the burn-in (and so far it has) it should be fine.

Overall Rating : 9
I started playing music professionally around the time when Sgt. Pepper was released and I'm still at it. I don't buy a lot of equipment so I have learned to get the most from what I do have. For example this amp is the first amp I've gotten since I bought my Fender Concert back in 1983. And my primary reason for getting it is that my ol' self is weary of hauling that heavy tube amp around, at least to rehearsals and stuff. I've been looking at S/S combo amps for many months and until I found this I was looking hard at a Fender Princeton amp (among others). Although the Fender sounded fine this amp offers much more variety than the Princeton for only a few dollars more and the EFX are a good bonus. And the basic tone of the Behringer is every bit as good to my ears as the Fender so it was an easy choice.

I do wish I could combine more EFX at one time but again, for the $$$, this works out just fine. Behringer thought it thru well enough to give an EFX loop and a line out to keep the options open. I think it's a great value but even the best value don't mean diddly if the tone isn't there - it is. What really caught my ear is a soft, tube-like compression there seems to be in the amp, kinda like a gentle squeeze to the sound, much like a tube amp when it's pushed. I haven't heard this in any other S/S amp and I think that's what really sold me on it.

Pretty packed out as far as features go. Clean and Distortion channel with one shared EQ, Master volume, Seperate Aux. volume, Digital effects section, one 12 inch speaker, Closed Back cabinet, Effects loop, Stereo Line out, Headphones out, Stereo Aux. input (for something like a drum machine or cd player), two button footswitch (one switch for channel, other switch for effects on/off), and midi input for using a midi foot controller (or other midi device, like a sequencer) for controlling the effects section.
The effects section is a processor based on Behringer's Virtualizer and Modulizer rack processors. It offers several (really good) reverbs, delays, modulation based effects, speaker simulations, and others...
I've scored an 8 here for going above and beyond what most amps in this price range have, though it lost a point for not having seperate EQ controls for each channel, and one point docked for not being able to do alot with the effects section .The effects processor has 99 patches available, which are user editable, though you can't specify which effects sit in the patch. For example, patches 43-47 are Chorus with Delay. You pick which patch you want to use based on the chorus sound you are looking for, and then you can edit the patch to reflect the delay time, delay mix, and chorus mix you are looking for. Also, you can't really create your own patches. There is a patch for a cabinet emulator, but if you use it, there is no other effects in that patch so you can't have reverb and cabinet emulation.
One of the nice things about this amp, however, in the absence of a midi control device, you can set a different patch to each channel.
Considering these limitations, it's still an awful lot of stuff for an inexpensive amp.

Sound Quality : 9
Sound quality is amazing, and super versatile. Taking some time to actually fiddle around with the volume/gain and EQ controls will result in many different kind of amp sounds. I've been able to go from bright jangley alterna-rock to solumn bluesy clean to classic rock crunch to full on hard rock. Distortion channel alone will not land a good scooped modern metal sound. You can get to a classic Van Halen sound, or an AC/DC sound... but no Metallica or Pantera or Fear Factory (etc.. etc..) If you combine the Distorion cahnnel with the cabinet simulator, you can get the ultra heavey sound (with out being muddy I might add), but as I've noted in the features section, you've just disqualifed using any other effects. I would highly recommend using a stomp box for really heavey distorion, and most likely you'll need a stomp box with a full EQ section (I'm using a Morley JD-10 myself). The amp tends to retain good note definition and balance too.
This amp behaves as any good amp should. The amp is very responive to pick attack, and the guitar's volume. With the distortion channel's gain dimed, this is still a little extra grit to be had from digging into the strings really hard, and backing off of the volume (or playing a little bit lighter) will result in a warm smoother crunch. This is very unique for an all transistor amp. The clean channel (with the channel volume dimed) will "compress" nicely with the guitars volume up, and will settle back down to a nice sweet tone whenever the guitar volume is backed down a bit.
The amp doesn't discrimnate between single coil and humbuckers (though you'll have to totally redo the EQ when switching from les paul to a strat). Also, it does really great job at representing and respecting the natural tone of your guitar. There are a lot of amps (especially the digital modeling amps) that no matter which guitar you plug into it (short of a drastic change in pickup output) the tone that comes out the speaker is exactly the same. This amp doesn't do a whole to color (or hide) the characteristics of the guitar.
Tone could be improved a bit if there wasn't a slight difference in voicing between the clean and distortion channels (The distortion channel has more presence to it even with the gain turned to zero...)
Also, the EQ controls could stand to be more flexible... sometimes turning them doesn't seem like they do a whole lot . Also the amp can be a bit bassy if you aren't carefull when switching between channels (one of the things a seperate EQ for each channel could have prevented).

The Effects section sounds REALLY good. The "wah" effect may have sounded better if it wasn't behind the preamp... it is the only effect that is pretty much useless. The time based effects are pretty lush. and the modulation effects are nice and full without being over the top. Of course, as with most other effects processors, there is a signal drop when changing from one patch to another (so, if you have a reverb set on the clean channel, and a chorus set for the distortion channel, there will be a signal drop when you switch channels).

The AUX channel works really well too... BTW.

Pretty nice sounding all around, really versatile for its price.

Reliability : No Opinion
I can't comment on the reliability. The cabinet will not survive moderate blows as it is made of a soft particle board. The first one of these amps that I had ordered, had been damaged by the carrier, and I sent it back. American Musical repacked the second one before they sent it to me, and it came to me in prestine condition. Basically, the way I see it, is if you don't expect the amp to survive a 6 foot drop, or being run over by a truck and treat it accordingly it'll do OK.
The foot switch it comes with is built like a tank however...

Customer Support : No Opinion
Can't comment on customer supprt from Behringer. I had e-mailed a couple of times for just general questions when I was shopping around for amps, and they never replied.
Off Subject from the review, American Musical Supply is who I ordered this amp from, and thier customer service is GREAT... simply the best.

Overall Rating : 9
This amplifier sounds good, and feels great. I feel kinda silly for pointing out it's short comings as you would be hard pressed to find an amp close to this price range, that sounds and feels this good with this much versatility. The tech21 trademark 10 sounds just as good (and can get the scooped metal sound to) but doesn't have the same feel factor, nor all the extras...
This amp isn't a good amp for gigging. Its a little bit irritating to get the sounds you need on the fly. For someone who is just a bedroom rock star, or needs an amp for working out ideas or recording when thier primary stage gear is a bit unwieldy, this amp is prefect. It's not as good as a $1500 rack solution, but it isn't $1500 either. Also, don't expect this amp to sound like a fender or marshall amp... it sounds good with its own sound.
I'm currently using two different Gibson Explorers (different wood and pickup configurations), a Fender Strat, and a Peavey G-90 (very much like a Jackson) and the amp plays well with all of them.
For anyone who has gotten this far through this review, and if they happen to care, this is how I've got mine setup...
Guitar to Dunlop Crybaby 535Q to Morley JD-10 (set for a really heavy modern distortion) to the amp. I've got the amp's clean volume almost dimed. Nice bluesy clean... with a good thick modern distortion with the pedal kicked on. I've got the distortion channel set with the gain set really low, so I have a good old school classic rock crunch, and a nice presence boosted lead tone with the distortion pedal turned on. I eventually plan to add an ABY switch between the wah and distortion box so I can route the signal to an amp modeling preamp/efx processor that will be plugged into the AUX input... that way I can switch to that for 5th sound option, or play through the two signal paths and have two different tone setups simultaniously.
I would like to apologize if my review was verbose or prosaic... hope it helped.

We play a mix of Ambient/Psychoverdrive original music that needs to jump from Ultrs Clean (and quiet!) to Brutally Distorted Overdrive in the blink of an eye which is really tough for the tube amps. Without spending $3,000 you're either going to get one or the other. Haven't been super impressed with S/S amp distortion until lately...here it is

Behringer doesn't make crap (that's my dollar-4-dollar experience) and although they must save money to put something this astounding into the hands of ANYBODY with a job they are quite brilliant at choosing where/when to save $$$. Never-ever-ever has a company been so insistant on delivering high quality equipment into the hands of ALL people and not just the wealthy. I've had it a couple of months and had no problems what-so-ever. If you notice on this page another guy complaining about his being "cheap" and returning it to "Musician's Friend" I now own THAT amp. They sold it to me as a "Dent-n-Scratch" item for $250 (tax& ship included)*thank you very much*

Customer Support : 10
Haven't really had any communications with Behringer in Germany except to send them "Thank You" E-Mails for each piece of equipment I purchase because I can't believe that I'm buying equipment and producing recordings of this high grade quality for so little spent. The people who receive my recordings assume that I have this incredible high dollar studio and trust me...that ain't the case! I record in a bedroom that I rent from a homeowner in the S.F. Bay area. I have not had any need to contact Behringer except to thank them!

I love guitars and own many. Currently have Mesa/Boogie & Line 6 amps with a Budda on the way as well as the Blue Devil. Most of my dough goes into recording equipment which is all Behringer except for the multi-tracks & stuff they do not make (yet!). If it were lost or stolen at this price I would buy two more and use them with an "A+B" switch for really outrageous effects (if you know what I mean). If I get time I'm going to build a custom cabinet for it (that's where they had to save $$$) out of oak (sealed for incredible bass response) on rolling rubber casters for mobility. Everyone is going to wonder what brand of "Boutique" amp this is!

Okay. I bought mine from Musician's Friend and was so impressed I had a friend buy one also. Within 2 weeks, we had both returned our units due to power loss while playing, unexplained farting noises, etc. I noticed that the shipping crate was crummy and cheap, but I didn't see any exterior damage. I sent it back and got another one which arrived damaged with a crack along the bottom edge of the amp. So far no trouble with the electronics, but I'm debating whether to throw the dice and return this one hoping to get one that (1.) works and doesn't overheat and lose power, and (2.) survives the rigors of BASIC SHIPPING! I'm very disappointed because Behringer had been known for quality before my experience with them. ISO9000, indeed!

Customer Support : 8
I haven't dealt directly with Behringer. Musician's Friend has been quite accomodating. So much so that I'd be willing to give the amp ONE MORE TRY before marking Behringer off my list for good.

I've been playing for 34 years and was looking for a "tempest in a teapot" to use at gigs that were smaller venues than my Mesa Boogie Heartbreaker warranted. I'm not big on effects, but I wanted to see what technology had done for smaller 1-12" combos. So far, I haven't been impressed. I don't expect a $299 amp to have Mesa quality by any means, but you should at least be able to get it out of the box before it's screwed up!

2 footswitchable channels, 99 effects presets, 60 Watts of power and a 100 Watts Speaker, a footswitch that if you are not playing orgy or nine inch nails type of music is just fine (and if not you can get a midi footswitch). I've been playing with it for almost two months to this day and for me it's still hard to believe that i only paid $300.00. When i got this Amp i checked the whole list in the musician's friend website, and believe me you are not going to get anything like this for the price. When i bought it i took a chance, i knew it was a new model and there wasn't these few reviews, i had 45 days to mess with it, and i don't regret it.

Sound Quality : 9
I'm playing a Gibson Les Paul and my influences are very wide, one day i feel like playing black sabbath and the next day probably eric clapton, without mentioning that before the black sabbath day was over i wanted to be jimmy page. With all the effects its almost impossible to run out of gas. When i'm getting tired of practicing all i have to do is change the effect and it's a brand new thing, like starting all over again. The built in distortion it's pretty cool, really dark and heavy, but if you want more crunch there you have 3 tube imitations and 3 cabinets, and if you take your time with the settings each one can sound different. Another cool thing is that you can use one distortion effect with the clean channel and have two different distortions for one song, and if you mix the heel channel with a cool effect...i tell you for $300.00 there's nothing like this out there. One thing is that i think could be a little louder, but if anyone knows a little bit about amps you should know that with a 100 Watts Speaker it's harder for the amp to overdrive, and even so the distortion at low volumes is good. And if you are going to play a gig i suppose you are going to mike it or send it to a PA. Another thing is that if you are really picky about distortion you might not like the ones you have, go to e-bay a get a Boss and there you go.

The box it came in seemed really simple but thank God it came in good condition. The amp seems pretty hard for me, but honestly not like my little fender, i suppose that if i drop both of them the blue devil will suffer more, but i am very careful with my equipment so for me that's not a problem. As far as i know amps have nothing to lookk for in the air so try to keep it in the floor and you'll be fine. The power cord could be short for some applications, buy an extension at the hardware store, they are really cheap.

I have never dealt with them and i hope i never will.

I remember one day that i practiced with a borrowed crate and i just wanted to kick it out of the window, i don't think it can compete with this one, but it's up to each one's opinion. If i would lost this one, first i would be really pissed but the i'll be happy to know that i only need 300 bucks to get another one. If you feel to much for something like this save some more and get a marshall, but if you are willing to try something that maybe will sound like you and not like someone else, try it.

This is basically the new wave of amplifier. A solid state amp with pretty much a rack system full of effects that can be controlled in real time by midi foot switch. This is definetly the begining of the next wave of amplifier. 99 preset effects with the ability to tweak the parameters and mix of the effects. They did a good job on the speaker set up, 60 watt coming through a 100 watt speaker so the sound will still be good quality at loud volume.

Sound Quality : 9
I have only had this thing fo a day and i am just touching the tip of the iceberg of how to mess with all the effects and settings but what I have done with it so far has been great.the effects are real quality sounding, and when you tweak with the effects it really gives you different ranges of sound on the effect you are using. The distortion alone is a good rock distorsion for me but if you are looking for crunch you will have to add some effects to it but it is there, you just need to find the right effect(s) and play with them. One of the things i really liked about this amp is the closed back cab that will no doubt increase the sound quality when playing loud.

Reliability : No Opinion
I have only had it for one day but it looks pretty sturdy. I will throw it down a flight of stairs this weekend and let you know.

It says they have it on they're web site.Hopefully I will never need it.

I have been playing the guitar for about 10 years or so now and i have had pretty much every kind of amp type. You can't really compare a new style amp like this with older stuff because technology changes. However the the Crate GFX 30 I sold to buy this amp was only about $70 cheaper than this amp was and the Behringer is 100 times the amp the Crate wanted to be. All I have to say is if you buy this amp and give it a crappy review on here you are a fool. This is a $300 amp with 60 watt rms and 99 preset 24-bit effects that sound excellent built right in , not to mention the midi foot switch option and stero line out for extra speaker hook up for true stereo.Oh yeah and it's German, they don't mess around. Long live Krautrock

Built in effects, 60 watts, MIDI switching. Ordered mail order; Poor shipping box caused cabinet damage the first two units (returned). Awaiting third unit. Electronic portion of amp seems to sound good, at least at low volumes. Cabinet is inferior and very cheap. Definate cost cutting by manufacting. Appears to be painted particle board! Incredible! Behringer's German design and electronics are good, but CHEAP chinese made cabinet leaves me scratching my head wondering why they don't charge another $25 and use plywood and vinyl. And $2 worth of thick cardboard to bolster the edges of the shipping box! And a 3 foot power cable??? CHEEEEEEP!

If any of you Behringer guys read this, please accept this advice as a design engineer: Consider the operational environment of the unit. A combo amp is moved around a lot, banged up and dropped occasionally. Your electrical stuff is fine, but that cabinet???WAKE UP!!!

Sound Quality : 7
At low volumes, this amp seems to sound pretty good. As both units are being returned, I've not tried it out with the rock band. So far, every solid state amp I've tried sounds good with low volumes at the store, but when played loud with a band, they get that "inside of a coffee can" washed out sound. I'm just now also playing with a lounge band, I think its clean sound will be highly adequate.

Reliability : 5
See below: My two units were both damaged in shipping, the cheap cabinets were damaged but the electronics are unharmed. The electronics portion must therefore be pretty rugged mechanically. Should be dependable electronically, but I suspect that unless treated very gently the CHEAP cabinet will eventually fall apart.

IMPORTANT INFO: The guy who designed the shipping box needs a lesson in packaging and engineering. I got the amp mail order from Musician's Friend, and the amp was broken in transit. My forensic opinion is that the box was dropped on a corner; the upper LH metal bump guard was dented. The cabinet failed along the upper glue joint completely. The small styrofoam inserts in the shipping box were disintegrated. Musician's Friend sent me a second unit; it ALSO arrived damaged. The box took a blow midway along an edge, no styrofoam or cardboard reinforcements in this reagon to protect, so the cabinet edge is dented for about 2". Both units functioned when plugged in. My third unit is in route; I told them to carefully double box this one. Maybe that will protect it.

I've been playing for over 20 years. My primary rigs are Marshall; I've got an "old 1975" 100 Watt head, and a rack with the Marshall midi tube preamp and that monster Marshall tube power amp. I use a Behringer Virtualizer in the rack. I play in a band that plays Hard rock, and this stuff is the best, but it is a bear hauling around those heavy pigs to gigs. Half stacks are overkill with my lounge band too. I wanted something portable, so I took a gamble on this little combo amp. For $299, nothing else comes close. I suspect that you won't see these for sale at Guitar Center because it would stop Crate amp sales dead in their tracks.

It is an open back...very small slot - 1" -@ bottom of cabinet. It is fairly heavy @ 48 pounds - no casters. It is a dark blue color...the covering is not tolex, but what looks like sprayed urethane...similar to the covering on some of the Carvin amps.

Plenty of power for what I do...playing the world's best bedroom rock guitarist.

Sound Quality : 9
I am playing a Dean Avalanche - strat style - H/S/S setup. Amp if quiet except on the single pickups...all amps seem to be noisy with singles. I primarily play classic rock, heavy metal, some blues. The Blue Devil covers all of those sounds without a hitch. VERY loud. The HEAVEN channel is crystal clear, not too bright, but when you dime the volume control...you get a smooth slightly overdriven tone. The HELL channel covers everything from a mild crunch to full out metal sound. The effects are great except for the WAH setting. -1 for the WAH.

Reliability : 10
It's new, so I have no opinion, although since it is solid state, it should be reliable. Invest in a good surge protector...will protect the effects module. It would probably do fine @ a show, but never forget Murphy's law!!

Customer Support : 7
No contact. 1 year warranty...could be much better...look @ Fender's warranty. -3 for the warranty.

Overall Rating : 8
I've been playing steady for 1 1/2 years after a 25 year dry spell. I kick myself daily for putting it down for so long...oh well. I love the tone that the amp has...the effects are good enough for someone to get rid of all of their stomp boxes. Wish the WAH function was better. I was seriously looking @ the Hughes & Kettner Tour Reverb, and the Fender Deluxe 90. Without taking the onboard effects into account, the Blue Devil still sounded better...when you factor in the effects...it just destroys the others. The Tour Reverb and the Fender were a bit louder, but so what. It's not perfect...the Wah could be MUCH better, and the warranty could be longer.
