This amp offered 30 watts, 99 digital effects and 2 channels at a 10 to 15 watt plain vanilla practice amp price. For the money, it was a great buy. Though it offers 99 effects - you can only save and trigger two while playing. I also notice a slight but annoying delay when switching between channels or effects. (i.e. Dead Air) Any other sounds must be dialed in by number manually with a pot using the LED display as a guide. (Kind of like setting an alarm clock holding the button down...watching the clock display advance or retreat, minute by minute). I had more than 2 favorite effects I liked to use, but I always had to stop playing to reset to the ones I need whenever the song changes moods. (Bought a multi-effects pedal/stomp box to remedy this. Don't use the amp's effects much anymore.

This amp provides many different sounds, vintage and classic sounds, current effects and sounds. The sound is pretty clean for the price paid. Can handle a small room or garage gig, but wouldn't expect more from it. It's my alternative to a practice amp and I am pleased when comparing the sound to those similarly priced amps.

Can I depend on it? Unfortunately no and this disappoints me greatly. (I remember having an old "SEARS" electric guitar amp as a kid that never had this problem and never failed.) The power switch and/or power supply on this Behringer GX110 is crap and faulty and has been for a long time. Sometimes it does not turn on when you flip the rocker switch and you have to jiggle it around. It hasn't been used that much either! (Bad connectors.) Then when you are playing - you never have confidence or know when the switch may fail and you lose power again. Sometimes it turns on or turns off with a loud popping noise - other times it works perfectly. Poor quality component is to blame and may likely be a recurring problem based on other reviews I've read here. This amp is out of warranty - so I will likely replace the power switch with a decent quality rocker switch. Until I repair it myself, I wouldn't trust it anywhere outside of my home without a backup. (Don't try this at home kids. I am a trained electronics technician.) lol

I was told that it was 14 months old and out of warranty. Between the expense of troubleshooting, repair costs and shipping I would do better to replace it with an entirely new amp under warranty.
What a shame for having to replace a crappy $1.00 rocker switch with a decent $3.99 part.

If it wasn't for the crappy power switch and channel/effects switching problems this amp would have received a 9 easily. Bad components used for the switches have dragged it down from a "kick-ass" little amp, to a "wish I could use it without problems" type of amp. Many times I want to jam on my guitar and won't even plug it in because I don't feel like messing with it to get it to work or worrying that I might fry the electronics because of the faulty components. So I plug the headphones and guitar into my effects box when I practice instead of my cool amp which I bought for practicing with!!! It's sad I know. I hope some of the folks at Behringer are reading this.

Clean sound is pretty clean until cranked. Gain... with gain full-on, it's sort of the Soldano-type buzzy distortion... With gain channel's volume up completely and gain used to comtrol volume -- in essence, reverse the functions -- it gets a nice compressed lead tone great for jazz, R&B, and rock in the David Gilmour fashion.
How does it suit my style? I use two of them in my lesson studio. Also, I usually bring one along if I go on the road -- very convenient in a hotel room... I play keys through the RCA inputs as well and they sound nice and clean.
For what it is, it's a great amp. Does it compare to a good tube amp? I've heard tube amps do a lot worse, but compared to a GOOD tube amp, this doesn't compare, nor should it.

I've heard all kinds of things about behringer, but it has all been here at HC. As for people that I know who use this stuff, I've never known someone who's had a problem... And none so far for me (knock on wood). Really though, it's a cheap amp... if it breaks and is not under warrantee, throw it away and buy another!

One year warrantee I believe, but I don't have the paper work in front of me, so I'm really just guessing from vague memory... Nice thick manual that came with it -- mine is still shrink wrapped... very simple amp to use, no need for a 50 page manual?

Overall, for $70, one can not complain! A nice, simple, two channel practice amp (not for gigging) with some cool features and a decent sound. I've heard a lot worse... Definitely a better buy than the Crate and Fender amps in this range.
Would I buy it again? Well, I bought one to see if it was any good, then bought another. I use them in my studio when teaching -- so I don't burn up my tubes in my real amps.
How long have I been playing? -- my whole life. I've been teaching music for over 16 years. I did look at a few other little amps -- the Rolands, and some others that I can't think of -- the behringer was less than half the cost of everything else, yet sounds just as good.

I bought this amp from Musician's Friend in May of 2005 for $69.00 new. It definatly fits all genres of music that I play. The 2 channels provide individual effect scenarios. I am very impressed with all of the imputs and outputs the this amp has. I plug it into my Roland Jazz Chorus 120 and get all the volume that I require out of the two. This little amp is pretty loud by itself and is very light and portable, unlike the Roland.

I use this amp with my Gibson ES-335 and my Epiphone Emporer II (11-52 flat wound strings). The clean sound is pretty good and it does crunch a little at full volume, which is fine. The reverb is supurb. I like the distortion, its very manageable.

This posting is a follow-up, as I did the repairs about drop-outs.
No problems now, but I would make some points clear:
It is a practice amp, you won't get anything decent past4-5 at the master volume, and you should think of it as a 15 watts amp. My marshall mg15cdr sounds at least as loud, and its tone stays fine at high levels which is absolutely not the case on the ultraroc.

The trick is to use it as a preamp (plug a phone jack in the socket to mute the speaker, a go with a cinch-jack cable into a bigger amp's return socket).
Then you'll find it very satisfying, clean and overdriven. I use a clean booster to push the drive channel into solo leads and it does good.
The effects are great, and not only the current ones. Just take the time to try. By the way you can store your setting by press-and-hold the effects button for more than 3seconds.
The remote is great(you can off the fx, when using an octaver for example) and the lag is inexistent if you have the same effect on the two channels (which I often do: spring reverb, and basta)
The preamp is well done, only the power amp/speker are weak.

Take it for what it is, use it as a preamp if you want to play loud and I can't see you unhappy. With a booster it makes a 3-channel amplifier/preamplifier and it works fine. Of course boosters are many and you'll have to choose the right one... I play lead solos a la santana with lots of guts and sustain and the best booster I found is a boss turbo distortion ds2(level max, drive min, tone flat, turbo off), go figure...
It helps make music, because it is not too typed and of the effects. Jazz, funk, basic rock, blues, and with the speaker simulations(effect 98) you even gets mean driven tones.
For the price paid it is a ten.

I bought my GX110 second-hand just yesterday. For the price it is probably one of the best amps on offer. The other reviews have covered the features, so I want repeat them all here. I am impressed with the number of features and especially the prospect of creating my own effects. The trouble is I've skimmed the manual & can't see anything on how to edit the effects. Does anyone know any websites that can help here? There are plenty of output options, with a lineout, headphones and speaker outputs.

I play jazz with a Maton George Golla (Australian made Jazz guitar with twin humbuckers), and the sound is decent for the price & portability. I haven't tried my electric (Yamaha Pacifica with Strat pickups) through it yet but I reckon it will be more suited to that guitar. Some of the built-in effects sound pretty muddy but there are a few useful ones too. Once I work out how to tweak the effects I'm sure I will get a nice sound for jazz, and the amp seems well-suited to blues also. The sound doesn't compare to my 1980's Roland Jazz Chorus which weighs a ton but is the sweetest thing you'll ever hear.
There is a small amount of background hiss, but you don't notice it while you're playing.
While it is nothing spectacular, I was impressed with the even sound of the amp. Most cheap amps don't seem to handle the highs on my guitar too well, and the top string often sounds twangy or doesn't sound out properly. On this amp all the strings ring out clearly and evenly all the way up the neck. For me this indicates a level of quality that you don't find in most amps at this price.
I bought this amp for rehearsals & small cafe gigs, and I think it will suit this purpose just fine without knocking any socks off.

Since I've only had the amp for 24 hours I can't comment on reliability. The problems other folks have had are a bit of a worry - but I'll wait & see what happens. I agree that the speaker probably can't handle the amp at full volume, but I won't need it that loud anyway so hopefully won't have any probs.

I've been playing for 10 years, (professionally for 4 years) and have tried out many cheap amps, but most of them are just toys really. While the sound of the GX110 is merely adequate (for my needs), it is obviously a quality amp and is a cut above most amps of this price.
If it was lost or stolen I wouldn't rush out to buy the same amp again but would probably shop around a bit more - I bought this one because it was cheap and I knew it wouldn't last long at the 2nd hand shop.
This amp would probably benefit from a bigger speaker, as it does sound like it's pushing a bit too much power thru the little 10 inch speaker. It would probabaly sound great if I connect the lineout to my PA which is 400 watts with big 15 inch speakers.
PS - please let me know if you can help with editing the effects!

Hi folks! I have had a lot of demands, here is how to solve this amp's problem.
The power amp(power transistor) is poorly fixed on its radiator with almost no heat-conducting paste. Therefore it overheats and shuts off every now and then, which proves its protection circuitry works fine... So I demounted it and put enough paste, and tightened its mounting screws solidly:no more problems.
If you are unexperienced but don't have 2left hands, here is the procedure: Before all, don't touch electronics parts since your own static may damage some of them(especially in the fx section).
1. Disconnect the speaker and free its cable from the staples.
2.Unscrew the 6 mounting screws and take the head apart, unplug the mains of course!
3.See the black aluminium radiator on the bottom? Disconnect the socket just above it(big brown-black-brown wires) and unscrew the power transistor from the radiator. DON'T LOOSE THE LITTLE SQUARE PLASTIC SHEET that isolates electrically the amp from the radiator, or you'll have a big short-circuit later.
4.From under, demount the radiator(4screws). From behind, unscrew all the jacks and the cinch(1screw) and pull the module slightly out(into the chassis for that matter). The aux in level knob stays in place, don't remove it!
5.Now you can put enough heat conducting paste one the power transistor's back and on the radiator too. Don't forget to put the little plastic square back after this! Some paste on the chassis where the radiator gets fixed doesn't hurt, either.
6.Screw loosely(must slightly move) the power transistor on the radiator, and put the module back. Screw tightly jacks and the screw of cinchs.
7. Screw loosely the radiator from under, must slightly move. Now that it is in place you can tighten the power transistor on the radiator and ONLY when this is done you can tighten the radiator on the chassis. This way nothing gets hurt or bent. The most transistor-to-radiator surface the best.
8.Put back the head and reconnect the speaker. Now no problems at high volumes anymore. If you notice your amp gets hotter it only means that heat is better evacuated through all the chassis, useful in the sommer...
9.You're done! I'm by no way associated with those bastards at behringer, don't buy their products, especially since they seem to be worst as time is passing by.
My ultraroc is used now with a 4x12 cabinet, and works perfectly since the repair. The fact that I go into a sans amp gt2 then straight in the return socket means that I have a killer tone!
Thanks for reading, good luck!

I don't know what year the amp was made. probably 2003.This amp is brilliant for practicing with, but when you crank up the volume too high, the touch response kicks in and the sound wavers. It's actually meant to do that! I'd say the distortion setting's most suited to blues or light rock, but it can't handle anything much heavier than that. However, if you buy a distortion pedal then it becomes much more versatile and you can play pretty much any music you want. If you're planning to do gigging i would advise against buying it. It's just not loud enough!

you can really feel the quality of the behringer speakers when you play this, but this sometimes backfires, making the distortion sound a bit wimpish, but like I said before with a distortion pedal there's nothing this amp can't do! The effects are very useful, but there's a lot of them so just try to memorize the most important few.
The clean channel is one of the best i've ever heard. It has a really warm but clear sound.

A great amp for people who just like jamming with their friends. My only 2 critisisms are that sometimes you feel that you've wasted a tenner on 99 effects when you only really needed 2 or 3, and that you need a better distortion sound if your gonna play hard rock or metal.
Overall though, the sound is exceptionall, very clear, but not too tinny.I would definetly recommend this amp and I have no regrets at all about purchasing one

This is a follow-up. I have had the same problem as someone below, my amp went mute when playing "loud". Just 2-5 seconds and that circus again and again. Since I know a thing or two in electronics I opened the chassis to inquire... And I found out: the power transistor was very poorly and loosely fixed on the radiator, with alomost no heat-conducting paste! A shame, 'cos otherwise the thing is neatly made, no flaws there.
So buy a tube of heat-conducting paste and a philips screwdriver, take note that a tiny plastic sheet takes place between the power transistor and the radiator and, voila, you have fixed your amp!
Feel free to mail me, I'm no behringer-related(in fact I just hate those bastards) and if I have much demands I'll write a precise fix-it yourself procedure on H-C. Bye, folks!

The clean channel is decent and the distortion is almost non-existant, so I'm using a boss metal zone. But whenever i try to use a lot of distortion while trying to play shadows fall or metallica or something like that, I get a lot of buzz. None of the effects except the delay even seem to be useful. The chorus sux so much my ears bleed.
And by the way, don't even bother trying to make this thing go louder than six or seven. One time I did that and the stupid thing started shorting out on me.
