Behringer GX212 Ultratwin 212 Combo

It's a 2002 production year model and it's great for gigging and home recording. I love being able to switch between a great clean solo channel and and great rock and roll solo crunch channel. I downloaded the manual and familiarized myself with the effects and features, and I'm very pleased with the options and the absence of Chupacabras. (my other digital amp sometimes surprises me)

Plenty of power for most gigs I've ever played. I used a Twin for most of my over-the-road-pro career, and I wish I had this one then! At these prices I'd have bought two pair, using two amps with an A/B switch and having a backup pair in case of a catastrophic lighting strike or club fire. (I lost an A/B rig in 1970 when a club burned to the ground)

It has 99 digital presets and 34 algorithms, most of which I don't use. The reverb, compressor, and octave effects are nice and I have them ready to go with the push of the foot switch depending on the songs I'm playing.

The other 96 effects I don't use, so no MIDI is required. I'm partial to my stompies for other effects, and that way I have consistency regardless of which amp I use.

I play a Fender Strat with HSS pups, and I love my guitar/amps combo.

I use two amps and alternate with a MORLEY A/B foot switch, So I can go from smokin' solo intros to smoothe, pretty, ringing chords at lower volumes instantly. I could do that with this amp but I actually use both channels of this amp for different but equally fine solo sounds, and the alternate amp for chord work. That's how I get the best from this amp.

These days I'll play instrumentals (like the THEME FROM MONK, APACHE, Wes Montgomery-octave-style version of MR. SANDMAN, etc.,) country and classic rock, or any style if I get called to play for pay.

I haven't played any clubs with bad grounds or fluorescent lights on the stage power circuits yet. So far the amp isn't noisy even when I use positions 3 and 5 on my guitar. (Pos 1 is a bridge humbucker. 3 and 5 are middle and neck single coils)

When I need just a teeny bit more brightness I have a 10-band EQ stompie that fills the bill. The difference between this amp and the popular brand of twin (this one's not as glass shattering trebly) is more than compensated for by the great overdrive sound this amp gives me at much lower volumes. Behringer's VIRTUBE TECHNOLOGY simulates tube saturation/distortion at club friendly volumes and with my "other twins" that wasn't possible without playing too darn loud for most gigs.

The amp has those very sophisticated plastic input jacks (like Marshalls and other amps) which are isolated from the chassis ground (they also switch off internally and drop out of the circuit when the cord is unplugged) and they were BOTH BROKEN by the previous owner. This was probably when straight guitar cords was left plugged in and someone snapped the jacks by bumping them. (90 degree angle plugs would eliminate that danger)

Behringer sent me TWO replacement input jack assemblies at no charge!

The input jacks come in pairs (high and low inputs) and they're mounted on a tiny circuit board with a tiny plug that connects to the mother board. So, I started my search for the jacks convinced that I'd have to do some delicate soldering, and the company sent me two complete assemblies (that's 4 jacks, 2 PCBs, 2 tiny plugs wired for the mother board) and all I had to do was mount one assembly and plug it into the main board!

It's great to have a backup pair of jacks (and the attached circuit board-the complete ass'y) just in case.

The amp was still playable so it wouldn't have required a backup amp to finish a gig.

The warranty was expired when I bought it but, the company was really great about sending the parts and they wouldn't let me pay them.

I'm comfy doing repairs so, I didn't have to look for a service center. I contacted the main office about the needed parts and I had them in about 4 days.

I've been playing guitar for 44 years and I have six amps now, I've owned everything at one time or another and I'd definitely buy Behringer again. This model is out of production but they build an updated model that I'd buy (GMX212) if this one was lost.

I love the sound, the two channels and the footswitch, I really love the torroidal power transformer, which tells me that this amp was engineered for cutting edge quality sound and performance.
The amp fell into my lap (sacrifice sale-guy needed quick bux) and I'd have never even tried one if not for the great price I paid, and I can't believe how much amp Behringer offers for the regular price for their 2-12 combos.

I'm taking the time to write this for an out of production amp model because I want other katz to know that Behringers should be given fair consideration. Don't let the great prices fool you. These amps were designed and built by knowledgeable people who want to be proud of their products and to offer them at prices that working stiffs can afford. It's one thing to build boutique amps for those who can say "price is no object" and another to build a product for the rest of us.

I'd take this amp anywhere and play it proudly in front of the snobbiest people, and let my sound speak for itself.

the clean channel is decent at low volumes...mine gets horribly distorted above 5 so I usually just leave it around 4 and pump up the master.....I may have blown a circut or something....I'm no techie...

the distortion is tolerable...I like how you can do alot with the gain tone...lots of styles...though I've really been looking into a boss ds-1 to get the feel I'm looking for....recently I played a show in a small club and had alot of problems with an untolerable hum from this channel...I ended up playing most of my set clean...I've purchased boss ns-2 to fix this...I play a gibson les paul with p-90s and they love the electrical interference....but when I switched over to a strat the noise was still there....

both channels feature great eqs....if you turn all the knobs down no sound comes through....this great control is very nice to have

I've depended on this amp for around a year and a half....I've only played a gig or two ever and the old behringer was cranking out the jams behind me....

around the time I bought this amp, I played in a couple small garage-basement type metal alternative bands....lots of bass and downtuning...me and my teenage crew abused this amp by plugging mics and basses into it.....around the time I started getting out of that scene the right hand speaker blew out on me....I took it out and taped up the wires....now I keep it down low and mic up the 1 12" jensen....

even through all the speaker trouble and amp noise I've figured it isn't worth it to call behringer up....

My friend has a behringer exactly like mine though, and he has sent his back twice....once after it caught on fire....and another time after he blew out both speakers....his current behringer seems to be a good one though....

I've been playing 3 years and I play through a Gibson Les Paul DC and an Ibanez Acl Acoustic...my behringer is my primary amp...due to funding...

If it breaks I would probably get a fender fm212 instead since its the same type of amp but way better

for the money I paid...the behringer has done its duty....soon enough it'll be time for a new amp...

2006 model, 2 12 inch Jensen speakers, 99 presets, 2 channels, foot switch, blah, blah, blah, you know the rest of the features. Needs a volume control/wah pedal.

Clean is good, chorus is good, flanger is ok, distortion is poor. The cleaner it is the better it is at high volume. The thing is I don't find this amp to really pump out the high volume. It's ok but no powerhouse.
I play a Godin SDxt with no extra pedals, just using the on board effects in the amp. I use mostly the tail humbucker pickup but occ. the single coil alone. I like the humbucker thru the 212 best. Music we play is up tempo church p/w.
This amp can get a bit noisy on certain settings but overall its not a problem. A high quality cable is essential.

It's gets bumped and jostled and seems sturdy enough. It took a good fall in the back of my SUV, right on the knobs. No breakage and everything still works like new. PTL

I've played off and on since I bought my first guitar in 1971. I've owned lots of guitars over the years with the Godin SDxt and an Alvarez acoustic electric being my main ones right now. I had a Fender G-Dec before this (still have it as a great practice and small room amp) and Peavey and Alesis amps. This Behringer is good.
If lost or stolen I would buy another. If I could afford it I would buy a Fender Twin.
Wish it had a wah pedal, guess I'll have to buy one.
Overall its a good amp for the money.

2x60 watts, two 12" Jensen Speakers, 99 effects, 2 channels, ect...everything as been said.

clean channel sounds good, but the distortion is awful. I don't really use the effects but i tried some and they sound pretty good. At high volume, the clean channel distorted a little bit. The distortion channel is not noisy, but it is a little bit when the mid boost is activated.

Clean channel=7/10

I have it for 6 months and I never had any problems, exept that a knob broke just after I bought it. The amp doesn't seem really reliable but for now it's ok.

Never dealt with them and I hope that I will not need.

Good for clean but not for distortion. I hate the clip because i play with a death metal pedal on the clean channel and if I put the "clean vol" more than 2.5 (1 is like the 0), there is clip, but I can put the volume up with the master.

This amp has quite a few features. The 99 preset effects are fun to play with, but without the pedal to swith between then (which in not included with the amp,) they are impractical to switch while playing.

The overdrive channel is not bad, however I still (after 3 years) have not been able to dial in the overdrive sound I really want.

I currently play a US Strat through and get pretty decent sound. I play everything blues, to rock, to jam/psychedelic with it. It doesn't handle flourescent lights well, but that might be the single coils in my guitar.

In my experience the clean stays clean at high volume.

As I said earlier the distortion/overdriven channel (while offer a lot of versatility), has not given my the sound I want yet, but It's in there I am pretty sure.

While I have not had any problems with it electrically, the parts (jacks, controls, etc) are cheap. One jack inside the casing, a control knob broke clean off. The parts are plastic and not the most solid plastic at that.

Overall, for I use it for it works pretty well. I probably wouldn't buy it again if it were stolen, I would spend the money and get something a little higher end, but when I bought it was affordable and LOUD... oh yeah did I say this sucker is LOUD... cuz it is.

Behringer GX212 Ultratwin Virtube technology, sporting 99 preset effects and amp modulation. Very versatile foot pedal set, though could use way more pedal buttons. Nice LED.
Amp was used at home and on stage. Powerful enough but not too powerful.
Good selecttion of stereo and effects in and out. used it also to run through the board at line level.. wasnt bad for that

Using various strats on stage, from lace sensor to regular single coil. Amp always sounded weak, and without depth. Some of the chorus based effects were awesome but over all pretty crappy.
The single coil guitars were better, since lace sensors are sh%tty to begin with but, nonetheless very unspectacular.
One could make a fair amount of desired sounds, but it had a very poor way of mixing the sounds. You could only choose one effect per channel and on stage, that was a pain. Had to use floor switch to select and toggle... yikes. Ended bringing my own wah.

ABSOLUTELY A PIECE OF BULLSH%T. Broke 3 times. A) Internal speaker connection broke based on heating, so only one speaker worked. Got that fixed under warranty B)Electrical connections inside broke between amp and effects, again heat or jarring related. All contacts needed to be resoldered - Under warranty but I had to beg... why?
Because it died starting the 3rd set! of a 3 set gig. I had run the rest of the set through the PA... What a f__ pain that was. This is the Edsel of twin guitar amps.

Held to their warranty, but they must have gone back to the drawing board on this one. ... I really guilted them and then had it fixed and unloaded it .. very fast.

Nice concept but a piece of trash. If it were stolen, I would help them carry it to the car. All other amps compare favorably due primarly to reliability and sound. Price was fairly high for the experience.

2002 (ish) behringer 2x12 combo, 60w, two channels, on-board digital FX, midi-capable, footswitch included, and about a million connection options in back.

i was unsure whether 60 watts would be enough for me when i first purchased this amp, but it was more than enough. most of the shows i've played with it were outside, 50-100 people, so not very big. 60w is plenty for this application. i bought the amp knowing it did not have a very useful lead channel, but my TS9 and Big Muff take care of that, thank you very much.
you really can connect pretty much anything to the back of this amp (no xlr though). i used to run my ipod in to the RCA jacks during rehersal if we were learning a new song. the two input jacks is nice, too--if your bandmate "forgets" to bring the PA to rehersal, you can plug a mic in to the 2nd input (don't forget your impedance converter!)
the digital FX aren't bad, but unless you really want to get into MIDI programming, you'll end up just finding a good reverb setting and leave it at that, like i did. it'd be nicer to have a decent overdrive and reverb and not all the other bells and whistles.

my setup is a Custom Strat w/ JB & '59 humbuckers--> big muff--> TS9--> snarling dogs wah--> ibanez DE7--> GX212 (have since upgraded to a Fender Evil Twin)

the only thing this amp has going for it is the clean channel (and the reverb's decent). the lead channel is thin and annoying, and the virtube tube simulator is not very effective. but since the clean channel basically puts out what you put in, my TS9 and Big Muff take care of the drive.
the amp is not overly noisy, but it clips VERY easily. basically every time i step on a drive pedal it gets right up to the clipping point. thankfully it has a volume reducer (or something) that keeps you from ACTUALLY clipping, but it's still a pain because then you're just losing volume.
this amp is versatile, but only if you have a pedal that will give you the sound you want. if you're looking for metal, get a shred pedal. if you're looking for classic rock, get a ts9...you get where i'm going here. if you want a nice clean sound...get a fender.

well...i never had any problems with it, reliability-wise. though i did break off a knob loading it in my car, because all the posts are PLASTIC. you get what you pay for, i guess. not a big deal really, a little super glue and i was all set. i gigged it w/o a backup, but only because i didn't have anything that would be a suitable backup. but it always fired right up, and was plenty loud.

never had to deal with them, but most warranties are voided by commercial use (playing live) anyway...

i've only been playing about 5 years, so it's not like i'm "old school" or anything, but i really prefer a more vintage, classic-rock/blues sound, which is why i upgraded to the fender. i sold it to get said fender, but if it had been stolen i probably wouldn't have replaced it. it's a lot of volume features for not a lot of money, but overall i was just not happy with the tone. i recently purchased an epiphone valve jr. (5 tube watts...what a beauty), and that really opened my eyes to the difference that tubes make in your tone. there was nothing for it but to upgrade after that.
basically, this is a fine amp if you need an amp loud enough to do shows, but can't afford $1000+ for a real tube amp (which is exactly why i bought it in the first place). however, i'd reccomend marshall's MG100 half-stack before this amp... much better tone, more volume, more expensive but probably worth it. the other guitarist in my band had one and i was always jealous of the tone on it.

It is good. It isn?t really good for blues or vintage sounds. It has a good modern sounding OD channel. I am a huge fan of the clean channel, I think the sounds there are awesome. There are some good effects, like the stereo delay and phaser, some that I would never use.
Comes with a footswitch, it?s nice that it?s included.
I play it with the band and it works quite well, has enough power to get over the drummer and other guys. I have used it live quite a few times and recorded with it twice. It has served me well every time.
Morphing knob is good feature. I wish it had more vintage sounding capabilities, but it does what it does well.

I generally just use it with a modern sounding, crunchy overdrive and a nice bright clean sound. Works well for our bands music, which is a modern rock, alternative sound.
As I said before, the clean sound is great. Nice and bright, at loud volumes it can have a little crunch to it but it is still nice and clean and I love the sound.
The OD channel is good, it seems as if it would have a fair bit of flexibility with the morphing knob, but I have had it for two years and it works well for me with the knob just set to 10.
It is my first guitar amp and has served me well. I am quite young and am defiantly not a tone snob or anything like that. I mean? I know what a good sound is when I hear it. I know good tube amps sound a lot better, but I don?t have the money to buy a tube amp that would be loud enough. I feel that this amp is good for the money, it has the features, and it has the volume and if you aren?t after tone, but after a lot of function for a good price, then this is what you want. I mean I don?t really play guitar music, it is more guitar driven pop and tone isn?t a big factor in this music. So I have never wanted anything else from this amp. However I am sick of carting it around to gigs and things just because all the effects are built into it and I can?t use house amps because of that. I think I am gonna buy a Line 6 POD XT Live so I can go straight into the PA and also I will have more tonal flexibility which I am starting to crave.

I had one and it was a bit dodgy, something was wrong with the sound? it was kind of going up and down in volume. This happened after about a month, I took it back to where I got it and they replaced it and I have had this one for 2 years and never a problem with the exception of a know that I snapped off? but that is as much my fault as it was a fragile knob.

Only dealt with them once and it wasn?t with them directly, but through the place of purchase. But it was replaced under warranty, no hassles.

I would say it is a good amp for anyone who wants a good, loud cheap amp. It gigs well, it sounds good. I have been playing for 3 years, got an electric guitar and this amp 2 years ago. I have been in bands for those 2 years. It is a great amp for people who want to get a lot of band for your buck. I feel as though I have outgrown this amp so I am going to replace it live and in the studio with a POD XT Live but I will keep this amp so that I can still have amplification at home when practicing with the band. However I am only doing this because I am sick of carrying around the amp to gigs and I need more flexibility and more control placed at my feet. There is nothing WRONG with this amp, but it does lack a bit of heart if you are looking for good tone. It has the sounds but no heart.
If it was stolen I would buy a cheap un-powered mixer and a powered wedge so I can use a POD XT Live through that, no need for an amp. And I also would have an extra monitor live. But it?s not going to be stolen, and I?m happy with what I have.

currently i have a jackson performer PS-3 with a seymour duncan invader at the bridge, for distortion i use a Boss MT-2 and the old FW-3 wah wah pedal. In this setup i use only the clean channel... the eq is kinda versatile. Its loud and i keep the master volume at 6 or sometimes at 8... haven't gone any further than that.
i only use 4 different types of delay and some phaser, and it sounds pretty good, but i wish that the stereo delay had more than 100ms. kinda dissapointed with the flanger sound.

the overdrive sounds suits only if you play rock, alternative, blues, punk... not for metalheads. As i mentioned its only OVERDRIVE.
i dont know if its because of my pickup but i cant get a good clean sound out of it... always seem to have some distorted sound at the end.

i blown away both speakers in less than 3 months... i guess that jensen speakers are not very durable, but i fixed that for 10$ only and since then i had no problems. (recommendation: do not plug a mic on the aux in for rehersals if the PA breaks down)

since i have a hard time saving money, i think i'll keep this one for a loooooong time... but in the future i'll get a POD maybe to improve the sound and versatility.

Purchased new in 2003. Didn't have 800.00 to spend on a Fender guitar amp and wanted a 'twin' type configuration. Was hoping that the simulator was strong and for the money it proved to be very good. As noted before - 2 channels - clean and Lead. , headpohnes, extra inputs(tape) , Direct out, Built in EFX , nice layout of controls, stereo out, and very easy to understand. Used this amp for practice, and some garage band gigs. Plenty of power (but note my comments below about live play). Bang for the Buck factor - very high!

I've played for a long time - Strats r me. So .... I wanted something that emulated my old hot-rodded TWIN reverb (please someone kick me for selling it !) .... and this amp approximated some of the 'feel' and sound rather well. The clean was real good and worked very well with my amp/efx pedal - it rounded out the sound from the floor unit into a smoother deeper sound. The LEAD channel worked very well for me except when I played with a band.
It became un-clear as we got louder. The volume was good, but the 'simulation' sucked up the presence such that it became increasingly hard to hear my note articulation - notes would just 'show up' over the din. .... it was strange. I found that I always 'bailed' back to the floor unit in the clean channel to play leads.

Its been in the family now for 3 years - still works like a clock.
I really can't talk about night after night gigging with the unit.

Unknown - but for the price I paid - who cares ! ...... the speakers and cabinent are good enough to use with a different amp if it 'dies'

I've played for a long time - I'm old-skool all the way - but still enjoy rocking out, phunk, and the blues. Played professionally for 10 years , but now am 'down' with the day gig and not far from retirement age! I compared with several similarly priced amps - this amp couldn't be beat for the price & features. However, since my kids are away in college now, I'm playing more frequently , and have purchased a tube amp and given the Behringer to my youngest son. Lets see - Behringer amp for $250.00 = good, flexible , loud , sound.....or a tube amp for $800.00 + = excellent, not so flexible, loud , sound hmmmm? Seems to me - the Behringer is a winner any way you look at it.

I'm not sure what year the amp was made in but I got 1-2 years ago. It's a fairly versatile amp, but not for metal and any heavily distorted sounds, but it sounds fine with a pedal. I also have the BG412H 4x12 and with a good distortion pedal, it sounds great. It's really worth the money. If you're in a band playing medium gigs definetely get the cabinet, it adds a lot of balls. You can't really get a great blues sound out of the amp alone, because if you crank the amp it's not a good sounding overdrive at all, and if you switch to the distorted channel, even if the gain is all the way down, it's a little bit too much crunch, unless you pick really lightly and roll the guitar's volume down. You can get a good AC/DC, 70's and 80's rock sound out of it, but I recommend just getting a good overdrive pedal, because the channel switching on the amp has an annoying delay, but the effects switching is instant. There's 99 effects, most of them are useless, but there are some gems. The chorus, reverbs [especially plate, it sounds like you're playing in some temple or something it's such a great, dramatic sound, I forgot it was even on the amp until I did this review, haha], pitchshifter and phaser are all great. The only good pitchshifter effect is the octave. At times it sounds like an organ. You can also use this amp with two guitars at the same time if you need to because of the hi and lo inputs, as long as you don't crank it, or it'll start cutting out. Theres enough power in this amp to play in a band setting, but I use it with the cabinet. I used to play in a metal band called The Black Heart Conspiracy, and the amp and cabinet worked great. I'm giving it a 9 for having 99 effects, even though half of them are useless and sound similar.

I'm using an Epiphone Les Paul Standard with it, and these guitars are great for the price. The heritage cherry sunburst is gorgeous, and while all the the other Gibson finishes are a lot better, the Epiphone Heritage Cherry Sunburst looks identical to the Gibson. Everyone says they play everything, and a lot of them don't. I play everything pretty much, but I've never really gotten into jazz or country guitar. Mostly what comes out of my guitar is metal and and blues though. For both of those styles, you need a pedal though. The clean channel stays clean until you really blast it, then it gets a really ugly overdrive, not a bluesy one. And as I said earlier, the most gain you can get would be ideal for an AC/DC type band. Basically to sum up these sounds, they sound great for the price and are better than pretty much any solid state combo amps under $600. But if you play pretty much any tube amp, you're gonna start hating this amp. I know I did, but I still respect this amp for what it does. It truely is worth the money, which is why I'm giving it a 8 instead of a lower score. Because I'm basing it by price. Because if I was comparing it to more expensive amps it would be unfair.

The only problem I've had with it would be the input jacks and the speakers. The input jacks got to be very loose and the would cut out, but that fixed itself, not sure how. And the speakers after a while just messed up somehow, and they're distorted now, but I run it through the 4x12, which cuts off the amp speakers, and it fixes the problem. 8, because I've never had to bring it in, but I would have to if I didn't have the cabinet.

Never needed it.

I can't complain about it, because of the price, even though I don't remember how much I payed for it, I think $200-300. I don't have anything else, but in a few months I'll be getting a new ESP guitar and Peavey 6505+. If it were stolen, I'd save up for the 6505+ head. But if I needed a new amp fast, definetely this. It's amazing for the price, but if you play any tube amp, you'll hate this amp. So 7.

Not sure of the year it was made in. I got it as a Christams gift in '04. I play pretty much a little bit of everything. From surf to metal. It handles just about everything you can throw at it. The clean channel can get as warm as my Les Paul Special can get and as bright as my Standard Strat can get. The overdriven channel gets pretty crunchy when you have the patience to tweak the effects and other adjustments. The foot pedal that switches channels isn't particularly useful. There is a bit too much of a delay. I do like the fact that it has a HI and LO option for your inputs. You can plug your single coils in to the HI for a little extra chunk and your hb's in to the LO to reduce the chance of clipping at higher volumes. The two Jensen 12s have plenty of power for basic use. If you need it louder, watch your volume and mic it to run through a PA like everyone else in the world.

You can squeeze any sound out of this thing that you want. I generally use my PODxt for most tones and effects, but I do use a few of the onboard effects to process the sound on the way out to add little somethin extra. Great for delays or chorus. The clean channel is just what it says, clean. You can make your ears bleed before it sounds like crap. The overdriven channel comes up only a little shy of what I would like it to do. I would appreciate a little more sustain on some of the effects. Particularly the phaser settings. My highest praise for this amp goes to the Jensens in the cab. As most of you know, the PODxt can spew some pretty evil stuff out of it. Like when you download someone else's patch and the drive is cranked up so hard your head nearly explodes when you strum an Am. The speakers hold up pretty damn well to just about all the overprocessed signals I have the tendency to throw at it.

This amp has done everything I have asked of it, when I have asked it to. Reliability is NOT an issue. I would gig without a back up with no reservations. I have tipped this thing over numerous times, ripped cords out with my feet, even dropped it out of the trunk. Save for a few scrapes and dings, it is tip top.

Behringer responds to emails rather quickly. Aside from that, I have not needed support of any kind.

I have been playing for about 5 years now and this amp is so far the best i have personally owned. I use several different axes with this. Standard Strat, Les Paul Special, Ibanez RG470, this crappy little Frankenstrat copy made by Memphis that AMAZINGLY, sounds incredible. If it was lost or stolen, I might replace it as it is a great value for its MSRP. I would probably lean toward a CyberTwin as that might suit my needs just a little bit better. But not by much. I love the sound, hate that its a heavy little bastard. I have a Fender G-DEC on the way, so we'll see how this Behringer, the PODxt, and that like to play together. I hope they can all get along.

Not sure of the age, but I got slightly used, 2/2005. I have played through many amps, this one is plenty loud, clean, and is very simple to set-up. Lots of line out options, 2 channels, plenty of onboard effects. I have read nearly all current reviews, and want to remind all owners or potential owners, Behringer states on their web site, "mild" distortion. If you want more, spend $99.00 on the V-amp2 or buy a pedal. If you want distortion in the amp itself, buy one designed for that purpose. Me, I wanted a clean, "Twin Reverb" sound, and it delivers. I lead worship for about 450-600, and it holds it's own. 30wx2 stereo, is plenty. If you need more easy fix, line out to your board, and use it only as you backline monitor. Face it folks, you can mic it like the old days, if you are going to fill an auditorium with sound, no matter the size of the amp, you will need your sound spread out....

My main guitar is a mexican 60,s classic strat, i usualy play on the neck and mid P/U's ( I do not have a bridge pickup, it has been removed). The amp has 2 10" Jensen speakers and they really sound great, one of the amps amazing bang for the buck type features. The amp is strong, i hacent blown any speakers or fuses yet and Ive owned it over a year now. I 've pushed some serious feedback thru it and it's been fine. The amps clean tone is superb it can get a bit more dirty when the volume is pushed, its not as clear as say a Roland Jazz 120 but consider the price difference.

THIS AMP IS VERY DEPENDABLE. The only problem is that you might need a ground lift (or a pair of plyers if you know waht i mean) if your playin at place with bad wiring. Nothin's broke on it and i've had it for a year. i use it in gig's every week, and any other time in between. The thing tavels in the back of a pickup truck and its still in GREAT condition, so again its all good.

I emailed customer support because I couldn't get enough volume even when I set it wide open. I was using the second input on the front of the amp which isn't as loud as the primary or first one. In my defense the manual indicates that humbucker pickup guitars should use the second input. You can totally dis-regard that note. Tech support was quick and very helpful.

I've been playing about 35 years, I've used a Tech21 trademark 120 within the same period as I've owned this Behringer, and honestly, I like the Tech21 better. But that is just because it has better distortion. If my Behringer were stolen, i would find out who took it, steal it back, then burn down their house. I am very poor and can't afford to go buy new shoes much less a new amp.This is a good amp, blues, jazz, softer rock, are all types of music this amp can stand up to very, very well. Buy one, make these Kreuts some doe.

I like the 2 channel design that allows you to assign effects to a channel... 99 presets that are somewhat customizable (is that a word?)...RCA out, footswitch, cabinet out...headphone, cd synch... it seems to have everything you could need.

I use about 6 different guitars on this bad boy... I had an old Tube Head that died and was going to cost way to much to repair... bout a Crate g600 head and it didn't have the balls I was looking for...
Wanted an inexpensive amp with a variety of sounds that could push a 4x12 or two... very happily replaced my Crate...

Couldn't ask for more from the clean channel. I've gigged it loads of times and haven't yet noticed the supposed loss of tone or whatever at higher volumes, it all seems realy nice to me at all volumes. the overdrive channel is stale though, it's taken me a long time to get it anywhere close to the raw power i desire (taken a buttload of effects pedals) and it's still lacking due to the amps inherant dislike of heavy distortion. In saying that...even though it dulls everything down a bit when distorted it can still sound really good for anamp of this price if you persevere...it impresses me no more than any marshall in this range however lacking the overdrive channel is. in short.... a huge selections of features, reasonable tone, crap overdrive but still very versatile and if u use effects it still can still stand out.

not a single thing has broken on this amp **touch wood** seems fairly durbale to me, not experienced any problesm that other people have (loss of tone, breaking knobs etc...) and as i said...i've gigged it alot.

Been playing it well over a year now and it seems pretty adaptable to my zoom multi effects and various other stomp boxes and wah. i think if it was stolen i would be bummed....but i wouldn't by another one due to it's distortion allergy. I'd go for a vox. i bought this one over a marshall because of the price, extensive features and it's amazing clean tone. I wish it had marshall amp distortion though.

120 watts, Two 12" 100 watt Jensen Speakers, 2 channel, 99 preset effects. This amp is a solid state but the clean channel performs like a tube amp.

The distortion on this amp is what brings controversy. Jensen speakers are to fender sound as Celestion is to Marshall. This amp with these speakers has a phenomenal clean sound, but the distortion leaves something to be desired. This amp is not for a metal-head. I would recommend this for someone who plays bluesy or funk stuff. Nothing heavier than early 70's rock. THis amp is perfect for me as it fits my style but if you play metal, save your money and get a Randall or MESA.

This amp was a worthy substitute for my heavy as hell 1973 Fender amp.
I've been told its heavy but it feels light compared to what im used to. The channel switching has a short delay on it. If i was ever performing when i had to swith between clean and distortion I would bring my distortion pedal.

The sound initially was great, I was very impressed with it for the first 20 minutes or so. Played a Oscar Schmidt oe 30 on it and was very impressed with the sounds and features.

Heres where it all went bad. After about 20 minutes of playing on low to medium settings it began to pop very loudly everytime I strummed the guitar. All the power leds would go out momentarily also, like it had overheated and developed a short of somesort. I turned it off and let it cool down for an hour and fired it up again..... Same thing. I am in the process of returning it to zZounds now (who are, by the way pretty impressive).

I would buy another one, but they are out of them. I have ordered a Behringer Blue Devil 112 instead. Based on the features and outstanding prices, I am willing to give Behringer a second chance.

As far as features go, the amp's got 99 onboard effects (entirely too many, most of them sound the same and can be slightly changed) and a distorted and clean channel. It comes with a channel-switching and effect-activating pedal. It's all I really need for what I do: regularly gig in medium sized venues in a blues rock and rock band.

The distortion, however, doesn't get as powerful as I'd like it to sometimes, and there is a very short but noticeable lag during channel-switching.

The clean channel has never gotten distorted at high volumes which is great, cause that's what i mainly use along with some effects onboard. In general, however, the amp's sounds don't have much variety and sounds like a practice amp at times.

Distortion never gets too brutal, but there's plenty of knobs to get it to your liking as long as you don't want it to be powerful, which becomes a problem at times.

Here is why I'm writing this review: the amp is NOT reliable AT ALL. Do NOT buy this amplifier unless you want it frying on you every 2-3 months. I have sent this back to behringer 4 times in a matter of a year and a half, and they take a month and sometimes longer to return it. They even replaced my amp with a completely new one which fried about 3 months later. I have treated the amplifier very well, but it has some serious problems of its own.

In fact, just don't buy Behringer. They might be cheap but you get what you pay for...

They were nice enough to replace my amplifier with a new one once, but they're incredibly slow and hard to reach. The number on the site was wrong, and I'd get my amplifier back after a very long time. The warranty is a year long, but if you plan on getting this amp buy an extension, you'll need it.

Features are alright, sounds are mediocre at best, but the reliability is horrendous... If the amp was stolen, I'd definitely not buy another one. It's a pain to deal with, and it fried on me earlier tonight during band practice for the 4th time. I only chose the amp for its price, but you get what you bargain for.

I bought this amp about a year ago for $450. It's works great for what i do(playing in churches for youth groups) The behringer really pulls out what little tone my crummy Johnson has at all. It has lots of power. When i play with the band, I normally can over power them with the master volume setting on 5 or six and it still keeps a good tone value. I have noticed though, that the settings change when you turn up the volume. I wish that when you use effects like the wah, that there would be reverd and delay mixed in, but everything is not perfect

as I already stated it pulls out what little tone i have in my johnson.

it's a very good amp, a friend of mine who bought a fender tube amp, thought I was playing through a fender stack.

Well i play classic rock so i think i used the features on this amp a total of 3 times but it does have 99 presets or w/e so i cant really complain obout them not being there just never using them.

Absolutly hated it worst tones ever my dad teaches and sells guitars and he cudnt get a good tone out of it the clean on mine was horrible and distortion even worse.

From 2002 I think. Jensen speakers. Clean and overdrive channel (and mid boost). Effects unit (reverb, chorus, delay, tremolo and much more). Since you can't combine effects as you want (fi not wahwah and reverb at the same time), it would be nice with a separate (analog?) reverb-unit! Headphone jack is VERY noisy (but who wants to play with headphones?)!

I've used it for practice, small/medium gigs and recording; country, rock, blues, jazz, metal... The overdrive works for medium-overdrive-sounds. Sounds quite nice with my Fender, but the sound with humbucker guitars is not that impressive. I've also tried it with my Heritage 575 (hollow body), but it just sounds awful, doesn't respond at all...
It's easy to get a nice sound when you're on your own. The effects on lower volumes sound natural and good. The problem starts when the band teams up. It's impossible to get a good sound on higher (or sometimes medium) volume! Specially the clean channel changes character when the volume increases. It's also very noisy on higher volumes.

The knobs are all-plastic and I broke one as soon as I got the amp. It seems quite fragile actually...

I've been playing for 15 years. I wanted a not too heavy, good sounding, versatile amp, so I tried this one. (My Fender's not very movable...) I guess it should be used for practicing and (home)studio recordings - the "basic" sound on lower volumes and the effects are good.
BUT: I'm sorry - but it just doesn't work when playing with a band (I've tried it for about a year now...). If it breaks down I won't replace it. Actually I think I'm gonna sell it soon...
The quality doesn't seem very good, but what can you expect from an amp at this low price?

I highly recommend Behringer amps, for the price and for the quailty, I recently bought the GX212 Ultra-Twin combo , it was NOS, but I was really impressed with all of the features and the price, I was looking at the Fender Cyber series stuff, and for the price Behringer is a lot better.

sound wise, I couldn't be happier, I have the SRV tone, as well as the Jimmy Page tone with this amp, with the built in effects and settings, you can really dial this baby in, like the Line 6 and Johnson Millenium stuff.

well so far so good, and from looking at this beast, I think it should be very reliable, very good construction, and no particle board like some Peavey's

I have a 2002 Les Paul Standard, a 1998 American standard strat, and they both sound smooth through this amp, I had a Marshall DSL 401 and even though it was a good amp, I needed something more versatile

Jensen speakers model. Use it at band practises and gigs, and it's great for both. It's versatile enough for the stuff I play, mainly punky-indie type stuff, although the clean channel comes through very nicely and has just enough warmth. The only gripe I have is with the effects, which are a pain to change, especially between clean and overdrive channels. I may have to invest in the floorboard accessory soon. Still, the addition of all the effects is nice enough of them anyway, and the tremolo and reverb are fantastic.

As I said, I play mostly indie-punky stuff with wide-ranging influences from The Smiths to Sonic Youth. There is just the right amount of overdrive to get those churning dischords out and it cuts through the mix nicely, even if it is a bit noisy. The clean is mostly clear but sometimes doesn't cut through the mix enough, especially in the mids. Maybe it could have done with a 'mid boost' switch like the overdrive channel.
Oh, and as mentioned by other reviewers, don't buy it if you want to play metal, unless you have some meaty stompboxes.

I also own a Behringer bass amp that has been pretty reliable (apart from a blown fuse)This amp is pretty dependable at a gig (apart from switching effects). However, some of the knobs have snapped off on the effects panel leaving 'stubs' making them difficult to turn, despite little abuse. Fortunately I found some screws to glue in that fit just right. DIY, eh. Another thing, the back of the amp is horribly exposed and I dread to think what might happen if I whack the back on a table corner or something. Anyway, it seems sturdy enough.

I've been playing for 10 years and this is one of the best gigging amps I've had, despite the niggles with effects. My original reason for buying this amp was that it was all I could afford, and I was about to start gigging. Previously at band practises I had been running straight through a horrible multi-effects pedal into a horrible PA. Fortunately, this amp has proved to be more than up to the challenge and has performed great at gigs. Not only that, but it's very, very, very good value for money. Recommended!

Awesome amp with clean and overdrive channels. 99 effets presets that make it 100% more awesome. Mine came with a footswitch, which offers kind of a slow transition between channels, but the effects switch is pretty much instant. 30 effects, which you can edit if you wish. Pretty damn loud too. I've had it about a year, and it's still kicking unlike my friends' more expensive Marshall amps.

I myself use the Jackson Warrior XT because it's the only electric guitar I have. My friends however use fenders. They also use their basses sometimes with my amp when I'm not looking, which kinda pisses me off. This amp is great for all kinds of rock and old r&r songs. Overdrive can almost reach distortion, but I have a distortion pedal (Marshall Jack Hammer) too, which is really killer. I actually bought the distortion pedal because:
A.) the Behringer footswitch sucks for transition
B.) I like to switch between light overdrive and distortion and
C.) It's a completely passive pedal.
Okay, back to the amp. I love the extremely clear CLEAN channel and the OVERDRIVE channel, which really should not be confused for a DISTORTION channel, is awesome for songs I like to play less distorted, yet loud. I love to crank it up all the way and rip out some Chuck Berry or Jimi, and especially the stuff I write. Like I mentioned this amp really isn't designed for distortion, but if you have a pedal it's perfect for any kind of music

You can totally depend on this amp at a gig. I myself never had the opportunity to join a band for more than a week and to play at a show, but a couple of my friends who were in a band together borrowed it for a few shows. They love it more than I do, mainly because it's not their own. It hasn't broken down yet, I've never had any trouble with it, and I don't exactly store it in the best places. It was actually in my friend's dank, dark basement for a month and it's still alive.

I really don't know anything about the customer support because I never really needed any. Which really says a lot about the durability of the amp. I use it sometimes for a stepping stool and I'm about 230 lbs.

I've been playing guitar for about two and a half years. I own a Fender accoustic guitar, another nameless accoustic guitar that is broken, a Jackson Warrior XT electric guitar, and a Marshall Jack Hammer distortion pedal (which really rocks). If my amp was stolen I don't think I could afford another amp half as good. The amp itself is becoming a rarity because pretty much nowhere I shop for instruments has it anymore, so I'm guessing it's been discontinued. I love all my electric gear because it is durable enough for the way I live.

As mentioned above. But having all this fx and amps-sims doesn't provide you good tone. It can just irritate you.

I play mainly progressive rock and use Ibanez RG770. I'm not tone-beginner and know which amp sucks and which doesn't. This one does. It sounds terrible, no matter how hard you tweak it. Clean is flat and without any deffinition. I'm not tube-freak, but i think that ALL distortions sound like shit flying through a ventilator... There are many solid state amps in the same price range that sound way better than this cheap immitation of guitar amplifier. If you don't know how guitar should sound, buy this amp- be my guest. But if u know what's right- stay away from it!!!

Piece of shit!!!

This is an older model, with the fantastic Jensen speakers. It has about a thousand effects built in - all sound good, especially the reverb which is INCREDIBLE. It made me sell my Alesis reverb rackmount. Also of note are the choruses and amp models - both superb.
It's a dual-channel solid-state amp, although this is hard to believe upon hearing it in action. I double-checked for at least pre-amp tubes after playing through the clean channel. None. It mimics a tube amp so hellishly well it can't be told apart. I played this side-by-side with my Fender Princeton and my Mesa Blue Angel, and it really stood well beside them. If you didn't know better, it will fool you.

The one thing I don't like about it - though I won't knock off any points - is the fact that is doesn't have a better footswitch. If you want to change programs, it has to be done by hand - very time-consuming and impractical live. And the damned FCB101 footswitch that Behringer sells costs half as much as the amp! What gives?!?

Sterling tube amp sounds. Distortion can get pretty "brown" if you use the amp modeling carefully. Otherwise it's a thick, rich but not very hard distortion, good for blues or maybe older rock songs, but not anything heavy.

I've owned it for more than a year, and it's just been great to me. Not a single problem at all - reliable as any amp I've owned. Plus the solid state nature ensures it won't die on you in the middle of a set, unlike some tube amps I've owned.

No idea. I hear good things about Behringer's sound product support, like mixers and crossovers and whatnot, so I would imagine guitars to be the same way.

Just an amazing amp. I really love it. Don't buy it if you think Marshall's have the ultimate distortion... or if you do, definitely use a pedal to get your sound. If you are an audiophile, or just love great tube sound, this is a monster amp. If only they'd issue it with a MIDI foot controller, dammit. I'll own it for years.

the GX212 is pretty easy 2 use. Easy to get a good sound out of it. Tha fx unit isn't as versatle as it should b. other than that it's a pretty good amp.

this is a cool amp!! THIS AMP IS NOT MADE FOR METAL!!! has good distortion especially 4 hard rock. The clean channel is unbelievable. I play a les paul, strat, tele, and a couple cheap guitars through this thing and it give me a good sound with each 1. sounds really close 2 a tube amp. It virtually noiseless when not playing, and is very flexible, if u play metal i suggest a pedal. For the price, this amp rocks!!!

i've been playin 4 about 13 yrs, and i play any style of music. this amp gives me the flexibility i need 2 play different styles and change my sound when needed.i mostly use it on the clean channel with the stereo chorus and run distortion pedals and use the OD channel with either a little phase or delay, 4 special solos. just wish it came with the midi foot controller. if it was stolen i'd buy another 1, especially at this price. For the price u can't get a better amp. I'd put this up against any high priced amp any day (even Marshalls). since nothin is perfect and 4 the price i give it a 9... good job!!!

2004 amp. This is a great amp, awesome for most any vintage sound from the sixties and seventies and eighties ect... It has great sound on both the clean and overdrive channels. The overdrive channel has a mid boost switch that really pushes the overdrive to sizzle, plus a cool morphing knob, and a presence knob, but if you are looking for super heavy distortion this amps comes close, but a external pedal may be needed. This amp has a real tube sound and feel to it, but it is solid state.Many cool effects, 120 watts of power trough two 12" speakers, this thing has power to spare!

Great sound, in my opinion you couldn't ask for better depending on what you are looking for. Great response on eq. like any amp you'll need to tweak, but I'm loving this thing.

versatile? sorta, doesn't have much for metal play. nothing a pedal from Boss couldn't take care of. has 99 effects from basic studio reverb to cabinet simulation. i use this amp for personal studio work. power is decent enough.

i am using a old yahmaha sj550hr. it has humbuckers that are switchable to single coil. not really a metal guitar but tweaking here and there can get some good sounds with my Boss MT-2 pedal. noise is questionable. there's noise presnet, but i am in a small room with the computer and i think the pickups are causing most of it. i think this amp can pull every sound other than a good deep metal sound(again, nothing a good pedal can't do) for a clean sound, awsome! the stock overdrive is good for hard rock, but stops there. with my pedal and the amp simulation on the clean side, it sounds great. i can hear that stack sound coming out. give it a 9, because if it had better distorition it would be a 10.

haven't had it long enough for a reliabilty test. time will tell.

20 years of playing, mostly bass. i have a review of my Ibanez BTB400QM on here also. if it were stolen, i thnk i would get something differnt, only because of the lack of stock overdrive abilities. i love that it has lots of input and outputs. perfect for my little studio which is really my main reason for getting it.

Want Distortion but the V-Ampire. Want clean tone Buy V-Ampire. I owned this amp for 3 months and sold it to buy the V-Amp pro and run through a power amp. Much better Distortion. The distortion on this amp is TERRIBLE. Don't buy this amp if you want distortion. I loved the clean tone this amp gave me, but no overdrive at all. Not sure what Behringer was going for here. I am not one to dis on Behringer, I own many Behringer products, but this one didn't meet my needs.

This amp is the newest model from Behringer built this year, ?04. The GMX212 has two channels set up in which each channel has three amp settings, Tweed a Fender type sound, British a nice Marshall/Vox sound and Californian that has the Pro Sonic and Mesa Boogie type sounds. Now throw in three Cabinet types, Flat, UK and US and you have all the versatility you need for Country to Heavy Metal sounds!!!! I love the blues sounds you can dial up using either the Tweed or British amp settings. This amp has headphone jack, inputs/output for use of another amp or let the GMX push another amp. Not to mention you can push a half stack with this baby too. Heck I can run my CD player through the Amp while I play along with the cd! This amp comes with 99 user presets that are driven by a 24 bit onboard MIDI controls. It comes with a two pedal footswitch that controls the channel selections or turning the effects on or off. Now I know this isn?t a tube amp but this baby has tube like tone that I still can?t believe! It has two 12 inch Jenson speakers that are graded out at 70 watts while the amp pushes 50 watts to each speaker, in other words I can?t blow?em up! LOL

I currently own a Tradition PRS tpye guitar with humbuckers and plan on seeing how a Strat sound thru the amp soon. I love to try to play Southern Rock and some AC/DC with a touch of Metal in the mix, so far the GMX can do it all! The GMX has some very minor back ground noise but at the level I play it at it?s acceptable, matter of fact it?s less than the Fender amp I use to own. As I stated this amp can put out any sounds you need and if necessary in the presets around number 90 to 99 have some nice touches that give one even more guts in the distortion. For the money I don?t think there is a better amp on the market and if I didn?t know the brand name and heard this amp in a Music store I would have paid twice if not more for this amp.

I have only owned this amp for a couple of weeks and it?s loud enough for me and it?s built tough so it should last a while, but since it?s new I?m not giving a rating for this top yet.

Still haven't had any problems but I contacted costumer support and they have responded so I have no complaints.

Now I have a very good friend that owns a Fender Cyber Twin, now the Cyber Twin is the better amp easier to use but at the cost of over six times the amount it had better be. Don?t get me wrong I would love to have the Cyber Twin but hot dang I have a very nice amp and don?t mine telling anyone about it.
I would love to see more control over the Amp settings through the use of the foot switch.

I'm using a tele with Fralins and a piezo. Mostly play in a medium size church. Rock, jazz, ballad, standard praise music. The GMX212 is definately an amp for mild grind to thrash. The clean tones do not lend themselves to piezo/acoustic warmth but do get a little better with some verb & chourus. It still sounds like an electric though. My 30 watt Princeton reverb is almost as loud as this amp. I always heard solid state watts are different from tube watts. This may be an example of that. The sounds are quite good though when you crank up the drive and add some of the 99 effects. I found myself playing overdriven leads and power chords for hours. Great stuff that would condemn me to Hell in my venue. Feels stiff on the clean settings though. The initial attack is not as round (??)as a tube amp.

Hasn't broken down after 1 wk. Excess glue squeeze out shows around the bottom angle blocks inside of the cabinet. Looks sturdier from the front than the back. No buzzes or rattles heard during extreme volumes.

Been playing tube amps for 30 yrs but I had to try this after reading the write up in musicians friend. I own a lot of tube amps.My intent was to retire my line 6 distortion and digitech effects and use an all in one package. I think this will fill the bill except when "acoustic" sounds are required, but I get the feeling I will be the only one who cares. There are a lot of very usable tones in this package. I'm undecided if I would buy another if stolen. I compared this to Crate and other models at the guitar center but the features and price killed all competition.

The features on the amp are great. It's got everything you need, 2 channels (exceptionally good on clean), It's got phono out-put and in-put (so you can connect your MP3 or Mini-disc ans record straight on to them), there's 2 inputs (a hi for low out-put guitars and a lo for high out-put guitars), It's got more preset effects that are easily adjustable than any amp i've seen at this price, excellent equalizers and it comes with a foot-switch. It suits my style very well because I play everything and this amp is so versatile. The one thing that is annoying is the reverb, it should be seperate form the other effects so you can combine it with them. I use the amp practising in my bedroom and with my band. I used it at an indoor gig in a smallish 200 seat venue and it was well capable of filling the place without a P.A.

This amp has one of the cleanest sounding clean channels i've ever used. You can get all kinds of sounds on the clean from Skynnyrd to the Chili Peppers. It's not noisy at any level on clean. It is let down by a poor enough distortion. It's okay at low levels of distortion but if you turn it up too much it sounds crappy. Anything from Nirvana and up and you're going to need some sort of pre-amp or pedal. The effects are great lots of variety.

It's very dependable, I've used at several gigs with out backup and had no problems. It's never broken down on me either.

I play a Strat through an Aria multi-effects and a Boss MD-2. If was stolen or lost I would definettely replace it. For the price paid there is nothing that compares to it. It's 2-100 hundred watt speakers blow everything else out of the water. I also have a Fender Deluxe which is now my backup and ill probably get rid of it soon as this amp is sublime.

YOu have probably read all the features in the other reviews. I bought the amp primarily for practice, home recording, and wanted something with enough oomph in case I want to do a gig or jam sesson. This amp has it all!

I wanted an amp with DFX. I didn't want a bunch of pedals strewn all over the floor. I have been through a bunch of DFX amps, including the Marshalls and they all suck. The effects are useless and rigid. The effects on this amp are class A. Sound great and allow just enough manipulation to make all of them effective. I primarily use a vintage Kramer Pacer, a Les Paul, and a Raven loaded with Duncans. All sound great. The amp is not as bright as Fender, the chorus not as lush as a Roland JC 120, but unless you run actual side by side comparisons, it's hard to tell. Don't get me wrong they sound great, especially the stereo chorus. And for 249.00, who's complaining? The amp has real nice blues/crunch distortion. Just the way I like it. Metal guitarists need not apply.

It seems ruggedly built. If the footswitch (which is heavy and built like a tank) is any indication of how the amp is built, there should be no problems. I just got the amp so....we'll see.

I am primarily a bassist. I started picking up the guitar again a couple of years ago. I have been playing over 25 years. If the amp was stolen, I would run out and get another one. For the price, it sounds as good as amps costing 3 times as much. It is packed with MORE features than ANY AMP I can think of! I think this is going to be a great all around, do everything amp. And from what I can tell, it will do everything very well.

The amp's user's manual indicates the date as May, 2001. There are 2 60 watt "virtube" tube emulation. There are two independent channels with separate volume controls and EQ's with a channel and effects footswitch. There are over 30 effects including chorus, delay, phaser and pitch shifter and anything else you could ask for in a combo amp. The amp is very versatile with a headphone jack, auxillary and tape inputs, addition speaker outputs and many other featueres. Many of these things i would never use, including stereo line inputs and the tape inputs. This amp is full of gadgets that are not useful for everyone.

I use this amp for home practice and jamming for the band, in the style of Guns N' Roses, Led Zeppelin and Aerosmith. The amp has plenty of power, over 100 watts, but after intense use at high volumes or even at low volumes, the amp has a tendency to get a worn out sound, not as pure as when you first turn it on.

There are two channels, one clean and one overdrive channel, but the clean channel EQ has not gain knob, which is handy. Each channel can be set to different or the same effects, including reverb, which i do not like-- there is no seperate reverb control knob on the amp, so you must go through the effects loop and adjust it how you like. That is one of my main complaints. When using other effects, you may not be able to have that reverb on at the same time, which is a downer, since i like to have some reverb all the time.

IF the overdrive and clean are set to different effects, during channel switching, the sound will cut out for a split second and then switch, so it is a delayed reaction, which really pisses me off because there is no way to get a continuous sound with the effects. This will not occur if each channel is set to the same effect or the effects are turned off.

This amp is very versatile but has many gadgets that you do not need and may complicate things, but they do not get in the way too much.

I am using this amp with a Telecaster which has two single coil pick ups, so it has a nice twangy sound. This amp can suit many music sytles and partially fulfills my needs of a nice classic rock distortion sound.

This amp is fairly quiet and doesnt make much noise, even at high volumes.

The distortion is sub par, by my standards. You know what it sounds like when your turn the tone down on your guitar? Well, this amp's distortion is like that. It just doesnt have that bite or aggressiveness. I use a distortion pedal to get the sound I want because the amp just cannot do it. It also isnt very heavy, if thats what you are looking for.

The clean channel is decent, especially for a non-tube amp. It doesnt have the feel like a tube amp would. Also, it does not have as much bite as other amps such as a fender would on its cleans. The clean tones are very nice though and I'm satisfied.

The effects sound good, including the chorus, tremolo, phaser and the many digital reverb options. Some of the things are a joke, such as the wah and speaker emulators. The delay sounds good if you spend the time adjusting it to your preference.

One other thing is the sound gets worn out and is not its original sound after not much use. AFter lettign it cool off though, it will return to normal.

I have had a couple problems with this amp in my first six months, both minor. One is a glued in peice of wood in the back of the amp in a corner used as supports came off the first day. The other problem is the volume fades out sometimes which is annoying, but it comes back in fairly quick. Since I've had any problems period, it is quite unexceptable

I have not contacted customer support but I heard they suck.

I've been playing for about 2 years and have tried much equipment. If it gets lost or stolen, i would buy something else and not this amp again. I love the digital reverb. I hate the distortion and channel switching with FX. Overall, this amp gives you a lot of bang for your buck and you are not goign to find much of a better deal around 200 dollars. Great value. nutshell: i got this amp 3+ months ago cause i needed something right away, and on the cheap - a need for practice, and a faint, reluctant hope it'd be gig-strong - i bought this particular beast cause it has so many features, and i figured if even if it was 3/4 garbage, i could sort it into my frankenstein home studio somehow for use or just fun - plus, a stereo 2x12 ?? - seemed too good to be true and i was braced for disappointment, but i am writing this review (at risk of jinxing myself) because this amp is quite a kickass surprise - i've already recommended it to my friends, so why not here -

bought this for function-only, no-expectaion guitar amplification - but i had fun with it right away, played tons the first night - i play a lot of clean-but-hard, fast pop/rockandroll, play a gibson SG, epi casino, Tak acoustic = the clean channel has plenty of flex, clear sound, loads of volume, so i had my money's worth right there - the drive channel is blah until you tweak it (you must), but i've got some pet settings that are not only better than most other SS amps, but are nice + distinct sounding, so: lots of variety, weed out what you like - it's only noisy when the guitar's right in front of it, where you get a pretty standard hum, take a few steps back and it's fine - it's an economy amp, i won't be building my sound around it, but for the price i'm happy if it does what it supposed to do problem-free - and it does that well, and a bit more.

i expect nothing from "built-in" fx (or SS modeling), and here they're about what you'd expect - so, expecting nothing, the good is: EASY to use, parameters are adjustable (within reason), and some are, of course, stereo tweakable - PLUS each channel remembers/retains its separate selected effect, so "x" effect on clean and "y" on OD, which is generous.

i've read horror stories about behringer, but it sounds mostly like it's not their products but rather their QC dept that bites - so i checked it out extensively when i first got it (who wouldn't) - musician's friend is pretty great with customer service, so i wasn't worried - everything checked out, and so far so good - i already gigged with it, no problems whatsoever - i've noticed a crackle in the effects pots w/ certain effects, but nothing that makes me worried - hope it lasts, but for what i saved on the price i'm already saving for an upgrade, so there ya go

never dealt with them - there's a warranty, but the amps too heavy to ship, too inexpensive to go crazy over longevity issues

it's a cheap gem, for sure - i just gigged with it 2 wks ago and half a dozen people complimented and asked about it, including the house sound guy - apparently folks haven't seen much of these amps before - i bought with a 'disposable-camera' kind of attitude, but if it lasts for years to come, all the better - i've played plenty of "real deal" amps in my 15+ yrs. of playing, and expected much less from an SS, especially a bargin aisle one, but it's hot - love the stereo - for the money, it's a find, and i'm glad i landed on this amp instead of one of the dozens comparably-priced shitty, shrill amps out these - tons of features (i wish EVERY amp had a back panel like this) - mine came with jensons, foot switch included

I hooked up two old "MagnaVox" 8ohm speakers to the RCA Outs (there are two of them, as well as two Ins) and my Epiphone Sudio10 to the loudspeaker output, then turned off the amp speakers (there is a switch for this), cranked the gain on the amp, left the second amp with the gain a 3, yes 3 and the distortion was awesome, and my guitar retained its tone, as well as the good "virtube" sound from the Behringer, even through that little Epi amp. -That being said, this amp sounds awesome, the overdrive channel is good, but the clean channel is heaven. Most of the effects and nearly all of the good ones are best suited to the clean channel, however, there is a slight inconsistency regarding the channels and here it is: the clean channel is the strong point of the amp, but the drive channel gets the overdrive [read Gain] control and the wicked cool "morphing knob"?that just makes no sense to me. Oh, and the good effects work well for the overdrive channel too, just no so wonderfully as they do for the clean channel.
-Regarding the effects, reverb, delay enhancer and CHORUS all sound awesome, tremolo, compressor and phaser sound all right (but not wonderful) auto-wah is bad (LFO-wah is neat, but more of a gimmick). The speaker/cab emulators sound cool, I especially like the rotary speaker sim. The pitch shifter sort of drains out any of your guitar?s tone, so take that for what its worth.
-I must compliment Behringer on their "virtube technology" this amp sounds tube, and when you crank it, it does overdrive (not as much as real tube amps IMO) but still plenty. If you?re dead set on tube overdrive, well go buy a tube amp.
-The amp does take a while to warm up, (think 3 seconds) but this was not unexpected, and doesn?t cause [me] any problems.
-The amp runs quiet, unless I put my guitar right in front of it (something which I don?t normally do?) I can get some hum, but even then its not loud.
-Also as other reviewers have noted there is a split second delay when switching channels w/ FX on, but again: no big deal.

-I haven?t had this very long (about a month) so I can?t really say but it seams well made, however knobs and pots are a little flimsy (as other reviewers have mentioned) but I don?t abuse my stuff so I don?t foresee any problems with them or with anything else for that matter. As another reviewer mentioned, they aren?t bullet proof, but I don?t expect mine to be near any bullets?so no issue in this department.

-No idea (haven?t had any problems, don?t expect any either), wish it came with a MIDI controller though. Also, the manual is very good, providing not only technical blab, but interesting factoids about the effects, and advice on how to use them. It comes with the usual warranty (defective manufacturing/materials etc.) but you must return this little card they send you in order to claim it

-Sure its got a few minor issues, but it delivers so well on so many levels that I can?t dock any points here. Competes favorably with amps 5 times its price. Even if you bought all the stuff I suggested in this review, and a few things a I didn?t you would still have money left over verses buying one of the much more expensive amps like the Fender Cyber-Twin. I would recommend possibly getting an outboard reverb, a wah pedal (if you play music that calls for it) maybe a distortion/overdrive box (again depending on your music) and DEFINITELY a MIDI pedal if you want to play live or even for jamming because it would make life so much easier. Great buy unless you want to "play" nu-metal, and if you do make sure the amp you get has a headphone jack (which this amp does by the way) so the rest of the world doesn?t have to listen to that "music".

2003, 2 channels, pretty versatile for differnt styles, you probably know all the features. Yes, it's definetly powerful. I turned it up half way, and got blown away almost. I should've sat farther away from it. And I didn't get stuck with the new Shark speakers that come with it now, I got Jensens.

I currently use an Epiphone Les Paul Special 2 or something like that, can't remember the exact name because it came in a package. It definetly sounds good on it, very clean when needed, and can still get pretty distorted. I have a distortion pedal to use with it, but that sacrifices sound quality (I have a DS-1, I should've gotten something better) It has a nice range of effects, although some of them just get redundant. It definetly stays clean at high volumes, although it's not quite "crystal clear" it's still pretty good. I do wish that the distortion was thicker, but hey, I saw it coming considering that the description is "mild distortion" It's still great.

I can definetly depend on this thing. I've only had it a month so far, and tried to avoid moving it much, but it seems very well built. I've stood on it a few times to check, and it seems to hold fine, no changes in sound or anything. Then again, I'm not that heavy (~150lbs)

I haven't had to deal with them, hopefulyl I won't have to because I definetly forgot to send in the warranty card.

I've only been playing for 2 or 3 years, I've got an old (1960s) Martin acoustic that I started learning on (It used to be my uncle's) Another random free classical acoustic, although it's terrible and needs new tuning pegs, and I bought an epiphone players pack at least one year ago, and that was holding up well for a while, but the amp was never really loud enough and some random parts fell off, and my les paul has taken a whole hell of a lot of abuse already, but this amp looks like a keeper definetly, definetly a very good value. And I got lucky and ordered it from Musician's Friend while it was on sale during christmas season, as they've jacked the price back up to $250.

Great effects processor, it would be even better with a MIDI pedal. This amps got lots of inputs and outputs. Speaker outs to connect a 4x12. Lots of settings. Distortion is weak. Not as loud as i expected, I heard a Kustom 30 watt that was louder than this 2 x 60 watt. Good for the price payed. It has 2, 12 inch jensen speakers, which are very good speakers. 2x60 watt amp.

I'm using a Fender strat. Sounds great on the clean, but the distortion is not enough for me so i bought a Johnson EQ distortion. Not noisy at all, even with single coils. As i mentioned earlier the effects are superb, you can get so many sounds out of this amp. But, you need to turn it up to over 5 to get any real volume out of it.

I think I could depend on it. I take good care of it though. Nothing has gone wrong yet after about 3 weeks. I am kind of worried about the weak volume(but its enough for me, and this isnt a high gain hot rodded amp). If anyone else thinks its a little quiet please post.

I've been playing for over a year now, I got a few pedals, and a fender strat. This is my second amp. If it was lost I wouldnt buy it again because i dont have any money. :( I hate the distortion, when i'm playing heavy. I compared it with a rocktron, this is the better choice. If anyone has had a problem with a lower volume than expected please post...

I have a 2003 model with the Jensen speakers. For the price, you can't beat the features. I play in church and use mostly clean and mildly distorted tones. At home, I tend to go a little heavier but the GX212 accomodates it. The effects are seemingly endless and it does take time to explore the possibilities. The onboard effects controls take some time to understand. Obviously, with so many options, it will take time to learn how to dial up what you're looking for. I suspect that those who criticized the sound of this amp haven't spent enough time delving into the possibilities. Also, this amp has all the I/O jacks you could ever need.

I use a mid-80s Ibanez with 2 very hot humbuckers, a Squier Tele, a strat-style Washburn with 2 singles and a humbucker, and a Fender acoustic with a Seymour Duncan soundhole pickup. I play traditional and contemporary Christian music in a praise band. At home, I lean toward the styles of Satriani and Vai. This amp sounds awesome. I'm able to get beautiful clean tones as well as some really nice distortions. I haven't tried to dial up any super heavy metal distortions yet but that's not really my thing. I've read that if you want that nu metal tone that this is not the amp for you. I imagine if you wanted that heavy tone, you could easily get it using a good distortion pedal with this amp.

I can't speak for the reliability yet. I haven't had it long enough. I understand that others have had it fry in a relatively short time. It may appear that a few too many have had a bad experience, but remember that Behringer is dedicated to offering a lot at a low price. They make less profit per item but they sell a whole lot more of them.

I haven't had to use customer support. To those who complained about having to pay international postage for registration, why didn't you just register online?

I've been playing for about 20 years. I also own a late 60's Ampeg Gemini II, a 70's(?) Traynor Studiomate, and a Vox Pathfinder. My Behringer will definitely be giving the others a well deserved rest. This amp is, in my opinion, the best deal out there. My advice is to write down the features and try to find another amp that offers as much for this price. You simply can't touch a 2x12 with DSP for anywhere near this price.

All the features have been previously listed. This is a very versatile amp with all the ins and outs, as well as the built in effects. I would prefer a little more control over the effects, but for $199, who's gonna complain about that? Considering the connectability and extensive effects and the price, I've got to give this a 10. You'll simply not find any new amp that compare to this, even at a much higher price.

I'm using a 1986 Hamer T.L.E. through an original Crybaby wah, into the amp. I play country, blues, hard rock, and even some fingerpick acoustic type stuff. The clean channel is a dandy. Add a combo effect such as chorus and reverb, and it can't be beat. I'd put this up against any Fender, any day. As for distortion, it does require a little more tweaking, but the sounds are in there. This amp isn't suitable for new age grunt and kill your family metal, but it can do anything else. I've dialed in a nice hotrod Marshall tone after about 20 minutes of feeling it out. I've found that it reacts nicely to my playing dynamics too. Very tubelike. I could probably knock off a point for the time it took to dial in the distortion, but I'm not gonna. Since I've bought this, I've been playing my guitar more than I have in years, just for fun--not learning tunes or anything, just enjoying playing. And again, you have to consider the price. What else are you gonna get for $199? This amp smokes many other popular brands and models, price not even considered.

I've only had about two weeks, so no comments on reliability yet. It seems very well built, though, and I don't anticipate any issues, but only time will tell.

Haven't dealt with them. Minus 1 for not having a postage paid warranty card. They're a German company and I don't want to pay postage. Many manuals were included in various languages, finally found the one in English at the bottom of the pile. It seems well written and they appear to care about their customers. Other than that, who knows?

I've been playing since 86, have owned a million guitars and amps over the years, and this one is a keeper. My Hamer matches up beautifully with this amp. The sounds are great, the versatility is impressive, and mine even came with Jensen speakers instead of the no-name ones it was supposed to have. Loud enough to gig, small enough to keep in the house, and it looks good too! I love this amp! I love it even more since I got it so cheap! Snatch one up if you get the chance, it's worth every penny, and a whole lot more.

Easily the best deal around!! Has lots of sounds very warm, and I got pretty descent distortion without any expensive pedals but you do have to put in some time. With the footpedal (included) I managed to get 4 "channels" (clean/clean+effects/distorted/distorted+effects). With little effort you can get a nice thick distortion. My ONLY complaint is that it does not have as much volume as everyone is making it sound unless you only play distortion. I only play in a small room with about 25 people and mixed with a acoustic-electric, bass guitar, and drums it's pretty hard to get a good comfortable volume where the highs arent drowned out without turning it past 7(which is pretty loud).

Easily the best deal around!! I play through an Ibanez rg220 with extra heavy jazz strings. Until now I havent liked a clean channel enough to incorporate it into my playing but this amp really has a lot of possibilities. The clean with a little phaser(like warm chorus) is gorgeous I almost fell asleep playing the other day cuz its so relaxing. This amp has so many effects you really can play almost anything. Ive gotten classic rock, modern crunch, kill yo friend crazy distortion, jazz, vintage clean, rythm clean and probably anything else you can name out of this amp. My amp wasn't noisy on any real level unless your crowd is dead quiet and youve got the gain channel cranked but get over it.

Easily the best deal around!! I was a little hesitant at first because people had said that theirs short circuited but mine has been fine no signs of any such defect. Its very solid. THE KNOBS ARE A little LOOSE BUT VERY little. I would and have used it without a backup.

I'd say the jump up from this is a good halfstack. Ive seriously spent about 20 solid hours over the last few days trying to find where to go from this amp because I need just a little more volume (I can always just add an external speaker cabinet and crank it). im beginning to see that I'm going to have to spend at least two times what i paid for this amp just to get a small jump in wattage to fix my problem so believe me that this amp is Easily the best deal around!! Its so nice its a pain to get rid of even when compared to a nice new half stack but i'll get over it. Just do your self a favor and buy this amp before theyre gone you can always mic it if need be.

Since this amp is at a nice price point and will interest a lot players. I had to write this review.I bought this amp 4/03 I play in church.I love the sound of the amp.I have the Jensen speakers. The effects are great but no flexabilty to move the presets where you want them like my Digitech RP100.I also like the distortion you have to play with it but it,s smooth.But after having the amp for five months.One Sunday in church the amp start smoking it was toast. I took the amp back to my dealer.They returned my amp to Behringer after about one month the amp came back Looking worse than when I sent it. I plugged up the amp and guess what no power.My dealer gave me a new one so far so good. But since then at a chruch event.I met a guitar player with this amp he said he loved it but that was his second amp his first one caught on fire.One good thing came from this when I went to try my amp when it came back from repair. Lots of extra inputs / outputs too, stereo aux in is handy.

Sound is good, but if you want modern high-gain distortion get a pedal... for everything else its very versatile, the "presence" and "morphing" control allow for lots of range.
The clean is very sharp, very nice!

Haven't used it at a gig yet, but in rehearsal rooms and half volume its gone for about an hour..

I've been playing for about two years. I played it through an Ibanez EDR470EX and also through a Digitech RP200 multifx pedal.
If it were stolen, I would certainly buy it again. The wattage for the price is far superior to anything even Marshall can offer, in my opinion! GREAT value!
I love the clean, I think the distortion's gain control should go to 30 rather than 10 :) But thats fixed easily with a simple pedal.

The feature everyone will talk about with this amp is the Virtuatube technology (or whatever it's called, I'm at work and don't remember). It's the best sounding transistor amp you'll ever hear or buy. It sounds light years better than a cheap tube amp, and at least as good if not better than most good to great tube amps. It sounds just like a tube amp - warm, glowing sound.

I play with a 72 strat, a 74 tele, and a late 80s music man. All three sound crystalline through this amp. I can get fantastic distortions if I try, but I don't really swing that way - I play almost all blues. This amp is just perfect for blues/jazz. Still, it's diverse enough to play anything. The 24-bit sounds are unreal. They are going to put my Boss pedals out of business!!

I've owned it for about three months and it's been picture perfect the whole time. Feels solid. Can't say anymore because I don't beat on it; but Behringer's other sound equipment is legendary for its durability - most German sound equipment is - so I would hazard a guess that it's pretty hardy.

This would be my only concern. You have to send the warranty card all the way to Germany via international post. If something DOES go wrong with the amp, I'd imagine you'd have to ship it all the way back there, unless they approve an American outpost to do repairs and warranty work, etc. I don't know enough about this, so I'm going to say No Opinion.

I've been playing for 25 years, and this is by far the best combo amp ever. In fact, it's one of the best amps I've ever owned, and that's including a classic Princeton, a wonderful old Marshall, and many others. This is a keeper. If it were stolen, I would just buy another.
I bought it after being recommended by a friend. I played it in a very large music store, and also played all the amps next to it. There was no comparison. It made the much more expensive Fender CyberTwin look like a joke.

Brand new Ultratwin GX212: 2x60watts, 2 Jensen speakers. 2 channels with DSP. Comes with footswitch for toggling between channels and turning the effects in each channel on/off. MIDI footswitch highly recommended. Headphone jack, line outs for recording, dedicated effects loop, speaker outs, internal speaker cutoffs, and more. Both hi and lo inputs.

This amp is INCREDIBLY versatile. It competes favorably with amps three times its price. The effects have to be heard to be believed - the chorus, flange, reverb and phasing have to be heard to be believed. I play just about every style of music - from metal to reggae to classical to blues - and this amp can handle it all.

The only feature I wish it had is the ability to chain the effects in any order you want. As it stands, you are more or less limited to the 99 presets, although you can tweak them to an incredible degree. Each preset has three parameters you can edit.

This amp is very VERY loud, and should be suitable for playing all kinds of live gigs whether with a PA system and a mic, or just by itself.

But perhaps the two most important features of the Ultratwin are the sound morphing knob, and the Virtube. This amp is solid state... but simulates a tube amp more completely than anything I have ever heard. I've played through all sorts of "virtual tube" solid states, but NOTHING comes close to the Behringer. They really did their homework. In fact, before I inspect the back of the amp, I thought it was a tube amp! The simulation is unreal - it is truly indistinguishable. Part of this is the new "morphing" control option on the overdrive channel. Between 1 and 10, the user can select from ALL sorts of tube sounds. I was able to dial in exact replicas of Sovtek, Marshall, Mesa-Boogie and Peavey 5150 I've played trhough. The morphing seems to control not only the harmonics produced by a tube amp, but also subtle changes in presence and resonance. Amazing effect.

I play mostly Fenders through the Behringer, but I have a home-built metal guitar with two super-high-output humbuckers. It sounds great with both. The clean channel, as noted by others, is exquisite - total silk with the Fenders, total glow with the humbuckers.

Others have said the distortion on this amp is poor for metal/hard rock. Not so! I submit that perhaps they have not explored all the available settings on this amp. True, if you just flip on the overdrive channel and turn overdrive up to 10, you won't get a hard distortion. BUT the amp modeling on this is *superb*. So to prospective buyers or those already owning one but displeased with the distortion - try the combo modeling settings (#s94-96) and turn the gain all the way up, and possibly the presence also. You'll get a great, full distortion with tons of harmonics and sustain.

I've only owned it a couple weeks now, but it seems sturdy and reliable so far. It weighs about 60 pounds, so it would be pretty tough to just kick over during a gig.

An excellent amp, I would recommend this to everone. It's absolutely a STEAL for $300 retail, or less if you can work a deal or trade in some old equipment. I've heard they can't keep these on the shelves, and I don't doubt it. A+ amp.

Made in 2003. 2 12" (60Watts each) Jensen Speakers. I play heavy metal and this amp can handle it to a great extent PROVIDED u hav a distortion pedal like metal zone or something coz the overdrive channel is not meant for heavy sounds. It has channel switching. It comes with a footswitch. Very impressive effects (24-bit fx processor), with stereo reverb, delay, etc etc. Very good value for money.

IT IS LOUD. My neighbours started to hate me when the volume was at 3. I tried playing it at 10 and was completely blown away (clean channel). I had to stand 12 ft away from the amp and play, or my ear drums would screw up. I use it with a yamaha rgx 420S, a guitar built for metal. The sounds are great. The fx processor really does the job well. I felt I saved quite a bit of money by not buying fx pedals like wah wah, flanger and all that. The fx processor does its job quite well. And its not noisy at all, even at full volume. But then, as far as the overdrive is concerned....well it leaves a lot to be desired. DO NOT BUY THIS AMP IF U WANNA PLAY METALLICA WITHOUT A METAL ZONE OR DS-2 COZ THE OVERDRIVE CHANNEL SUCKS. Rest all, the fx processor can handle quite well.

Overall, a great bang for the buck. The fx processor really does the job well. Not great overdrive or distortion, but an fx pedal can easily fix tht up. I now play metallica on it (with a metal zone) and would really go out and buy it again if stolen or lost.

Incredibly versatile 2x12 combo, huge range of tones to suit any style. I can only surmise that other reviewers didn't put much time and effort into experimenting and customising the presets, this amp does almost everything! Spin those dials and you will be rewarded!

I've been playing rock guitar for 20 years and have owned and used all sorts of gear in that time, this amp is the best value for money piece of equipment I have ever bought. Was almost put off my purchase because I didn't believe anything in this price range could really be any good....WRONG! I'll cut to the chase.
I used to own a '62 reissue strat, a vintage marshall 100w superlead head with a celestion loaded 4x12 cab and a small army of expensive boss pedals.
Using an inexpensive peavey raptor special and the GX212 I CAN GET THE SAME TONES! I'M NOT KIDDING!
Other reviewers have complained about lacklustre distortion/overdrive/crunch, I can't understand this. To be fair, you won't get ultra-modern techno-metal crunch tones out of the GX212,but you will get an impressive "Van-Halen" type of heavy overdrive if you try. I managed to get just as much crunch out of this amp as I did using a boss turbo-overdrive AND a boss turbo distortion through my old marshall stack. If your style leans more towards Richie Blackmore than Vernon Reid you can't go wrong.
This combo also has an impressive array of reverbs and delays, chorus/flange and phase effects as well as a few amp/cab modelling presets. You can also independantly assign effects to the clean or overdrive channels. Effects and channels are controlled with the included top quality aluminium footswitch, FX presets and parameters are contolled via the amp facia, but you can use a midi compatible pedal board if you prefer.

Only owned it 3 weeks so can't really make a value judgement yet.

Not had to use customer support yet.

Tried out the Line 6 gear, the Behringer wipes the floor with the nearest equivalent (Spider Series) OK, you can get that "metal Factor" out of the spider, but you could buy the GX212 AND a Behringer V-AMP 2 (My next purchase) for less than the cost of a Spider 212 if you shop around on the net. I haven't touched on a lot of the GX212's other features, all the I/O stuff because I've yet to try them out. This amp is more than powerful enough for rehersals and medium sized gigs and has enough whack to drive external cabs. The sound quality is equally good at either end of the volume scale.
For all those other reviewers that couldn't get the crunch they wanted, e-mail me and I'll tell you how.
In my opinion, you could spend four times the money and not get a better amp, I don't have the budget or the equipment that I used to have, but I sure as shit have the the sounds. Can't recommend this highly enough.

I don't have an exact year, but mine has the Jensen speakers. I purchased it mail order, and I was pleasantly surprised to get this quality of speaker in an under $300 amp.
Versatility is excellent because of the DSP, but as many have mentioned before, it is a rather clunky affair to switch to other patches. I use a Digitech GNX-1, so basically I use the GX212 as a power amp. It supplies this capacity VERY well.
It's pretty juicy, power wise. 2x60 watts is plenty for a club or stagemonitoring when mic'd. My band likes guitar in the monitors anyway, so I've had zero volume issue. It's perfect for practice.
As many have said, the overdrive channel is lackluster at best, a turd at worst. I recommend a more tube-like overdrive unit in front - BOSS Bluesdriver, Danelectro Daddy-O, Tubescreamer... you get the drift.
I simply can't disregard the useful things, hence the decent score.

I'm a humbucker kinda guy - but I like slinkier types of music on occasion in my very eclectic band - so I use the second input. I can get some very convincing single coil spank with a roll-off and a tweak. I use an LTD H-100, Dean Tonic S, Epiphone Dot, and a Strat knockoff.

This amp is snappy and has solid presence. As the only guitarist in my three-piece band, it does a great job of switching from rhythm to lead without a big sound drop-off.

I've occasionally gotten a little buzz on crowded stages (lots of lights and equipment packed close) or when the mic on the amp is super hot, but otherwise it's whisper quiet... even at higher power settings which I primarily use.

I've tried the direct-out into a very nice PA and I found it disappointing, the cab modeling it used was just thin and washy. Mic'ing it up is the way to go... and if you've got the Jensens, all the better.

The clean channel is VERY nice. Crisp and Fendery - with just a touch of the digital reverb (there are MANY reverbs available and it's amazing how you can set one side to have reverb and the other to not! It's a great stage effect and can make it sound like two different amps in series.)

The distortion, like I mentioned before, leaves much to be desired. You can a get a nice "sparkle-drive" effect by just slightly using it. This is nice if you want to have a three-channel approximation:

GX212 footswitch to OD set low - slightly crunchy clean
Clean channel - Shockingly decent clean
... and you're all set!

It's a solid chassis, from a company known for solid engineering. The only noticeable flaw in construction is the knob-panel. The knobs are brittle and the plate is glued on cheap. It's a shame when the rest of the machine is so solid! I have already busted and had to replace a knob. I must state that I am very rough on my equipment, though. Also, it's solid state - it should be with me a while!

I've been playing seven years and I own quite a lot of foreign guitars (still working for that first US made gem)and I also have a Fender HotRod Deluxe.
I love the clean channel and power - hate the distortion and the difficulty changing DSP patches. (a MIDI footcontroller would rectify this situation)
I also looked at the Drive and Rogue 2x12 offerings (and other cheap solid state 2x12s) and decided on the Behringer for it's name brand and better speakers.
I would like this amp even more if it included a cover and had reverb available full-time with all patches.

I highly recommend this product to anyone wanting a relatively portable, stageworthy amp with a respectable clean channel. This amp's a no-brainer for ska and funk players, or anyone wanting more versatility and spank from their humbuckers. Despite my negative comments, this amp does represent an excellent value for the money.

I have a new 2003 model, purchased from ZZounds (great service, they didn't charge me for s/h either!). There's two channels, clean and overdrive, powering these massive 12" Jensen speakers which simply rock. You know the other features, digital effects, etc. etc. It does include a METAL footswitch, which has one switch to toggle channels, and another switch to toggle effects. You will definitely want to get Behringer's midi footcontroller to control this mighty beast.

For the first day I had it I took it to band practice. We tend to do a lot of different styles. Currently our list that we practice includes covers on Purple Haze, Seven Nation Army, Dazed and Confused, A Hard Day's Night, Pencil Thin Mustache, some Bob Marley, Rage Against the Machine, and more. A truly wide range of sounds and styles, and this amp can handle it all with the right tweaking. It also has a LOT of power, I never turned the master volume pass 3, and it provided more than enough juice for our casual practice session.

I use two different guitars with this amp. The primary guitar I use is an American Tele, which is just so amazing with this amp it's like heaven. For the ballsier stuff I tend to use my Schecter 006 Deluxe, which I honestly like almost as much as the Tele.

The amp does tend to get a LITTLE noisy on certain settings, but in general it is a very clean and crisp sound. And like I stated in the earlier section, I play a wide variety of styles and this amp can easily handle it all and still give me goosebumps.

The Behringer product specs say you can get "mild distortion" or something, but honestly my GX212 was really rocking it out hard. I was simply impressed how easily I achieved an amazing Seattle'ish grunge sound that had depth and dimension to it. Truly amazing. And like true tube amps, this baby just rocks harder and harder the louder you turn it up, and I still haven't really played it pass a master volume of 3!

Well I've had it for less than a day, but I used it for many hours. It seems very sturdy and reliable, and heavy! Which is a plus for an amp this size. I knocked it into a wall a couple of times, and it went on a couple of car trips, but it's still in pristine condition. The only downer was that certain sections of the metal strip below the knobs (that have printed text on them, like "MASTER VOLUME" and "HIGHS" etc. etc.) had sections where the adhesive wore off, so they were warping up a little, since that's how it came. I managed to press most of it back down, but there is one section that will need some glue. But I still can't give a rating, since only time can tell (I'll post a follow up in a while).

Never dealt with customer support. ZZounds gives a 30-day money-back gurantee on all products they sell. Not sure how Behringer handles their warranties.

This is just a fantastic amp. If you're on a budget, and you want the best, then this amp is perfect for you. The DSP is good, better than what I expected for an amp at this price. They do not sound as good as a single unit (like a pedal) dedicated to a certain sound, but I am definitely happy with the quality. In addition to its great sound and wide versatility - it just looks so damn sexy! When you gaze at this amp in person you can't help but shed a tear. Woo!

Ok This amp is a 2003 model two channels and 99 preset sounds.headphone jack, effect loop(not crazy about this), aux in stereo out, cd in. I wish it had a boost button or even just a switch for the mid boost. I played this amp at a gig last night and the only problem was The effects loop was too quiet. I had a marshall Guv'nor for lead boost and even with the unit flat out it was actually quieter than the channels.It has plenty of power I had it at 6 last night and it was perfect.

I use a gibson Les Paul Studio with seymour diuncan Jazz and Custom and a eppiphone SG gothic. I play in a covers band and this amp is ideal to be able to have a variety of sounds available.I found that standing close to the amp with my friends Strat there was a hum which got less as you walked away. No problem on stage though. The clean is pretty good and the distortion is as well. Now they arnt in the same league as a Valve amp but a valve amp cant do all this can either. Good choice if you need more than 3 sound.

OK the other guitarist in the band has one as well. and he had a problem where the amp dropped power and volume to nothing. Heres the good part, the dealer just sent him another one, even tough it was a 20 cent part. They just didnt fuck about. I'd like a back up but cant afford one , I have a Korg AX1500G which I can plug into a desk if I needed to though. I dont like the Plastic Pot stems, they feel cheap and flimsy. But I look after my gear these days so they should be ok. I detest the manual. its fairly useless. so is the manual for the fcb1010 I bought to go with it.

Seems ok 12 month warranty. serve is just an Hour away. as I said, the other guitarist had no pronblem, just sent him a new one.

I've been playing about 15 years, I have owned fender and marshall valve amps and Boss and korg effects. The main reason I bought this amp was price it was a third of the price of a Line 6 or Johnson. as well as a marshall. its just great bang for buck. I just wish it ahad a boost switch for leads .

I play r&b, funk, hip hop, blues & jazz. The amp covers it all.
I wish it had a numerical key pad. Going from presets 1&2(my favorites) to 97+(combos and stacks) is a pain. I don't use the chorus or phaser effects(to wierd for me).
I use the amp at home for practice and recording in the project studio. The amp has plenty of power for my needs.

I play an Epiphone LP Standard with humbuckers.
The amp is very quiet on all settings I have used.
The amp can cover any sound used for R&B, funk, blues, rock(not metal), jazz and pop. There is much variety with this amp.
I haven't cranked it past 8 one the clean channel(6 on the master). There was no distortion at those levels or below.
On the dirty channel, the distortion is not that heavy. You can get some good rock sounds, just can't get into the metal range.

I haven't left the house with it, but it appears to be sturdy.
The knobs are a bit loose. Not a problem now, but if they get looser with age, I'll be upset.
I've only had it for a short time, but so far so good.

If the amp were stolen, I would recoup from rental insurance and buy another one.
I love the versatility. The clean channel delivers any sound I want after massaging the controls a bit. The power/volume is great for the money. There's nothing I hate about it, though I wish the wah effects were a bit better, but they're good. Closer to hate is getting from lower presets to hight presets.
I compared this to the Line 6, Marshall ??50 & a Peavy. The Behringer fit my needs the best and was the cheapest. If I were more into heavier rock, I would have went with the Line 6, maybe. The reverb on both clean and distorted channels were better than all I tested.
A numerical keypad & foot switchable effects would have been nice.

By now you all know the features. Mine has the Jensen speakers. I have heard they are using different speakers now, so be wary and use your ears.

The clean sound is like a warm blanket, especially when combined with a stereo chorus! Strat,Les Paul,Charvel, acoustic-I have even played a5-string bass at a reasonable volume and it just keeps delivering.

Distortion-Ah there's the rub.
It has great distortion-just is not so great right out of the box.
Remember, there are a ton of effects, a morphing knob,EQ, a mid boost,
gain/overdive as well as some amp models hidden way in the back.
If you take the time to learn the amp it will do everything you need except reproduce horrendous distortion for sub-tones in alternate tuninings.

Effects- realize the amp is not designed to play itself.The factory settings are merely a pallette from which you are to create. I have never found multi-effect unit that gave me every useable sound out the box. They are there to give you a general idea of it's capabilities. Tweak away and you'll be very pleased.

Eric Johnson, Satriani, They are all in here. True, an external pedal to help gain it up or add some intense distortion, but my kid likes Ozzy and AC/DC and the amp more than delivers.

If it were stolen I'd hunt the thieving BA@#$%d down and make him listen to nu-metal--just kidding.

It really has no contemporary--not without buying multiple products, and certainly not in it's price point.

The midi pedal would've been a nice addition,but alas.

I didn't give it 10's across the board, but it certainly could've rated as high. I'm Very particular, especially when it comes to sound.

I noticed some of you trashing it because it came to you broken.If you knew how many hands touch a particular item before it gets to your door, you may not be so hard. Also buying on ebay broken is hardly an objective opinion.

Remember-- you have to dig into this thing to make it sing. Spend some time with it. After all, could'nt we all use the practice.

I fell in love with this amp in under an hour...I was gonna buy a Marshall JCM800, but then before I made the final purchase, the salesperson offered me to test the Behringer, and I instantly dropped the marshall. I also had tested a number of Valvestate marshalls(I was actually in the shop the whole afternoon),and its no match with this beauty. And I havent run thru the effects yet, Im just talking about the clean channel.
And its so full of features... almost has the same number of features as some Line6 amps...

On my Amp hunt, I brought with me my Gibson LP standard fitted with Duncan Jeff Beck pickup and my Ibanez JS1000, running thru a Korg AX1500G. They are such solid sounding guitars,and the Marshall was suitable choice, Marshalls and Les Pauls are always unbeatable.BUT this amp is much warmer, imagine burning coal ;) with its orange ember..
I play everything from Blues to pop, metal to rock, satch to vai. This amp pretty much covers them all. And has anyone heard of Eric Johnson's violin-like tone? I think I could get as close to it from this amp rather than a marshall.
The highest volume Ive played it was at 8, and the room was almost shaking..however, its not such an irritating sound you'll hear, i cant believe it somehow retains the warm sound, its not sharp and trebly like other amps. Its still not hazardous to your ears even at high volume...

Ive been playing since I was 12 years old and im now 30(OMG, im old).Im playing semi profesionally, but stopped for 5 years to concentrate on having a decent job :)
I was never satisfied with my tone, I am quite sure of what sound I like, seems to be ringing in my head everytime(im getting nuts?)..but I stopped seeking since I got this amp, well at least momentarily im satisfied.
OH yeah...The price was unbelieveable too...saved a lot compared to getting a Marshall.Just my thought on Marshalls, theyve got so much amp products in the market, they are simply conning us of our money..why not just release a few select amps, the best of the lot, and sell it. This way, musicians are saved from getting crappy sounding ones.
A piece of advice to those looking for amps: Use your own ears!Reviews are subjective..its what you hear counts..know what you want nd take time to look for it, patience my dear.

Bought brand new in March 2003 from American Musical Supply - if you order this, get it from them, they still are shipping out the amps with the Jensen speakers - now this amp comes with "Shark" speakers, which, from what I hear are not as good in the sound department. This amp is versatile enough for me, I play pretty much blues and some classic rock. I use maybe only 10 of the 99 effects, all 10 either being reverb or delay. Plenty of power, would gig without a backup. It seems like others have had bad experiences with this amp though. I tried out various Fender tube amps, but for the price, this was my amp. Saved me $700 - no, the distortion is not great, but buy a Boss BD-2 or Tubescreamer and you're all set to go.

I play out of it with 2 American Strats (one is a Texas Special) and get a great tone out of this thing. Like I mentioned above, distortion is not terrible, but not great. I definitely recommend getting a separate stomp box for this. 99 presets, most of which are worthless to me as I have no need for flager, phaser, auto-wah, etc. But the reverbs sound great, as well as the delay effects. Noise wise, this thing is pretty quiet, unless I have my strat(s) on the 1, 3, or 5 position but this is common with any amp, that's the fault of the guitar. I had a Crate GX-65 which costs as much as this new and I just had to get rid of it, it sucked as far as tone and effects go.

I think this will be reliable, looks like it's built well and I have not had any problems yet.

I've been playing for 14 years - own 2 American Strats, the effects I put through this are a Boss BD-2, Dallas Arbiter Fuzzface, and a Dunlop Crybaby. If it were stolen I'd probably buy it again, I love this amp. You can't get a better amp in this price range. Hell, you probably could spend $300 more and not get as good of an amp. I compared this to the Fender Twin and it's very similar in tone, just like others have said.

2 channels, 37 effects and 99 presets (half of which are worthless). it has a mid-boost button, which is really just more of an overdrive boost than a mid-boost. it has something called a "morph knob" which i particulary enjoy, and it has a presence control. dual 3-band EQ's for the seperate channels and 3 controls for each effect. overall it has alot of features, but the features are somewhat... retarded... in some cases.

I'm using this amp with a black yamaha strat copy with stock electronics and a blue epiphone les paul which i will soon get rid of in favor of an american made strat. it suits my music style ok i guess, i mean, there's nothing really special about it. it tends to feedback with the yamaha with volumes over 7, but that may just be the guitar. the clean channel is great, it doesn't distort at high volumes, but my beef is with the "overdrive" channel.

the overdrive on this amp sounds rather... bad, to put it nicely. in fact, there is almost no gain at all. yes, i read the description of "mildly distorted sounds" but i was expecting GOOD mild distortion, not the crap this thing churns out. you have to tweak every knob in every which direction possible to get a decent sound of it, and once you finally get a good sound, you start to have problems like i did... which you'll read about next...

I have owned this amp for about a year and 3 months now, and have had problems with it twice. the first time, the input jack just broke, it popped right off. what do you expect, it's made with cheap plastic... the second time, the same thing happened... i had ordered a replacement part from behringer (took long enough... their customer service sucks) and about 3 months later, the same thing happened again. this is not a result of misuse, as i do not trash any pieces of my equipment. these problems were a result of poor manufacturing.

yes, i have dealt with them on 2 seperate occasions, and on both occasions, the customer service was sucky. the first time it broke, i called customer service, and they never called me back like they said they would. i had to e-mail them and waited 2 weeks for a reply from behringer customer service to find out how i could order a replacement part. the 2nd time, i didn't even bother calling, and just went straight to the e-mail, which took a little more than 2 weeks the 2nd time i e-mailed them. there were no service centers, and i had to order the part from a store in california (i live in pennsylvania) that would ship the part to me. good thing i wasn't gigging the first time it broke, or else i'd have been royally screwed. i have it rigged with duct tape now to prevent it from breaking again.

i've been playing guitar for over 2 1/2 years now and know enough about aps to say "don't get this one!" save your money and get something better, don't waste your money on this, it will only leave you disappointed. if it were lost, i would go get the marshall half-stack i'm saving up for and pity the guy who took the piece of junk. i wouldn't wish the problems i've had with this amp on anybody... except maybe good charlotte... hehehe

so yeah overall this isn't a very good amp, don't buy it. save your money, buy something better. liek a marshall.

This is a follow up posting. Bought amp year ago.

The reason for this follow up is;Does not have great tight, hairy distortion. So, I bought a KORG AFX-1500 (or something close) and a BOSS ME-35(?), sorry for not knowing correct m#'s. I wanted to overcome the amps lack of distortion and seperate reverb options. To make a long/short. The quality of this amp was ruined by these devices. The BOSS was better than the KORG but I found that for the type of music I like (eclectic rock, folk, blues)that the amp is better sounding w/o pedals. If the pedals were cheap, I would keep for different distortion choices and reverb (to use with GX212 effects) and compressor options.
The clean sound and 'classic' crunch are fantastic. I'm not crazy about the morphing option (although better to have than not).

I've been playing since '74 and have a good ear for sounds. I love this amp. If you could combine reverb & compressor w/ other sounds.............aaahhhhhhhhhh.

I did a lot of research and price shopping before I bought this brand new Behringer GX 212 Ultratwin. I found it on eBay for $255.00 plus $30.00 shipping. I was not too familiar with Behringer products, but I do own a Behringer 4/12 cabinet that I drive with a 100 watt Crate solid state head. The speakers sound great, so I decided to take a chance on one of their amps. Big mistake!

Can I rely on it? NO! Would I use it on a gig without a backup? NO!
Has the amp ever broken down? Yes! Because of neglect? NO! This was a lemon from the factory! Upon unpackaging this amp, I was impressed with it's good looks. I plugged it in and hooked up my guitar, but I couldn't get the effects to work. I was leaving the state for a week the very next day, so I really didn't get a chance to look into it any deeper. When I got back a week later, I tried it again. This time it made a crackling noise and began to hum through the speakers. Then smoke rolled out of the back and I immediately unplugged it. It's cooked, WELL DONE! I contacted the seller who agreed to exchange it. I shipped it back to the seller at my expense and didn't hear anything for a week. I emailed the seller and he replied the next day saying that it would ship out on 4/10. Here it is 4/21/03 and still no amp or communication. I emailed him again tonight to find out when he plans to send a replacement. I'm beginning to worry.

I have not dealt with Behringer's Customer support directly. They are located in Germany and I hear that they are difficult to work with.
My guess is the seller is waiting for Behringer to make good on the amp, and I'm stuck waiting.

I currently own Fender, Crate, Ampeg, Peavey and Kustom amps and have a guitar collection consisting of about 65 guitars, ranging from acoustics, jumbos, dreadnaughts, archtops, acoustic/electrics, electric hollow bodies, electric semi hollow bodies, electric solid bodies, etc. I collect the more traditional guitars such as Strats, Teles,Les Pauls, SG's, 335's 135's. I'm a Rockabilly Cat and have a deep love for the hollow body jazz boxes. I'm not into B.C. Rich, the wilder side of Ibanez, or Gothic style guitars. I don't do pointy headstocks or headless guitars. YUCK! I seemed to wander off the path of the Overall rating. Getting back on track, Anything I wish it had? Yes! I wish I had it and it worked. Anything else I'd like to share? Yes! Steer clear of Behringer. I wish I had. I've had great luck with all the amps mentioned above except Behringer.

i play a fender standard strat that i fixed up with some Vintage noiseless pickups, locking machines, shell pickguars and a fixed bridge. the guitar sounds really good in just about everything, even my chop shop crate (crate head-vintage marshal cab). this amp is incredible. it's really quiet unless you are one to crank everything up(me). the effects are very very clean. better than most i've played through like korg, digitech, zoom(crap). some of the effects are kinda useless to me but they are fun to play with. the clean channel is really nice. it has a defined character, nice and warm. add some reverb and a little chorus and you you've tasted heaven. the distortion channel is what i play with the most. it can give you the bottom end and still hold on to the high stuff hands down. always play with the mid boast on. the distortion, or overdrive for better words is perfect for me. i play alot of leads at church and the mix is good because it's not too fuzy. definately not a thrasher's rig. perfect for the older stuff like zep, hendrix, floyd, ccr, you know.
sounds better than any other amp in my price range $300-$700. this thind is loud too. 120watts rms. 7 starts hurting my ears. the two things i don't like is the break up on the combo effect-kinda junky and that the channel volumes differ substancially with effects-not that big of a deal. it's hard to believe it's solid state.

very, very reliable. i've been taking the thing to church once or twice a week for months now and it seems pretty sturdy for a twin. i wish it would have came with an amp cover, that would help. i always use it w/o a backup. you can trust it.

i have dealt with them only once about how long it was going to be on backorder. very helpfull and nice too.

you can't beat this price with a stick. i looked on the market for about a year for what i wanted and i played everything i could afford under $700 and with substancial output: crates, fenders, marshalls, line 6, peavy, carvin, everything. nothing beats this amp for the price. nothing. if you are thinking about getting it, you should. the best music investment i've made thus far.

If you expected "nu-metal" from an amp that is touted as (again) "clean and mildly distorted," then you must either be high or just plain stooooopid! (Stupid is as stupid does? Ring any bells?).

Behringer's gear always leaves me a little worried in the reliability department. While I've never experienced a Behringer failure myself, it seems that so many other people have...

This Behringer has twice the power, twice the features, twice the speakers and ten times the quality for $50.00 less. Behringer is truly focused on giving a better choice to the consumer dollar wise without sacrificing quality.In fact for my money the choice was easy.
I now have a combo that I can enjoy for a long time. If you are looking for the best bang for your buck look no further.

I bought my 2002 GX212 in January 2003. It features 2 X 60 Watt Power Amps, Clean and overdrive channels, DSP effects, and 2 Jensen speakers. The rear of the amp has just about every conceviable input / output there is. External Speakers, Effects loop, Midi controller, RCA Aux In & Out. You name it it's there. I'm never going to use anything other than the effects loop and the signal out to a desk (which is STEREO!) but there there if you want them.

There is a small delay when switching channels with effects on, but I haven't found it a problem. A half second delay when playing live is the least of my worries!! Accessing the presets is my beef. If i want to switch from 32 to 92 i have to get to the AMP and hold a button down for 10 seconds. The included footswitch only switches channels and turns the DSP module on or off. If you want to switch effects mid song you are going to have to buy the midi controller as i did, so allow for it when doing your sums.

I use this amp both at home and gigging. it is very usable both at low and high volumes. Live I use it on stage as a monitor and go back through the desk. For smaller venues it is more than adequate on it's own, providing your buddies dont have those new Fender amps, man they are loud!

I play a strat with standard single coils pickups and a Vantage with standard buckers. Both guitars sound excellent through this Amp, however the Strat seems to produce a lot more hum through this amp than any other amp i have owned before. Perhaps it has something to do with the frequency range it is reproducing, i don't know, but i have to combine 2 pickups to cancel the hum caus it's just too loud. If i use the enhancer effect hum is gone!

Im my opinion the DSP efects fall into three catagories, the good the bad and the ugly! Ok the Ugly first - Pitch Shifter & Auto Wah. These are flat out useless. Bad - Phaser & Flanger & Tremelo & Compressor. If you have been using quality external effects like Boss then you will be dissapointed. The good - Chorus & Reverb & Delay. These are very useable and with some tweaking you will get sounds you are very happy with. Again, don't expect the quality or degree of tweaking attainable with a CE3 for example or DD3, but they are very usable.

There are also some Combo and stack emulators which sound pretty cool if your looking for a particular sound.

The clean channel in my opinion is excellent. Dial (or should i say push!) in a bit of reverb and i could play for hours with nothing else. Very nice. The chorus and delays are also very good on the clean channel.
The overdrive channel is good. The midboost button is always in on my Amp, cause it just sounds that much better. Turn it off and I want to turn it staright back on. I've read a few reviews that have basically bagged it. If you are after a dirty channel such as those found on a crate or fender Rockpro, this isn't yor amp. However, using the overdrive channel with the combo and stack emulators produces some very usable sounds. Throw in the morphing control and I would be surprised if it didn't satisfy 80% of the guitarist purchasing a combo in this price range. If you need full on overdrive sounds then you will need to add some outboard effects.

I've only had the amp a few months, but so far no problems. The fan operates quietly and switching it on and off creates no speaker noise at all, very nice. The cabinet is adequate, but i wouldn't say it looks bullet proof. The pots and knobs feel a little on the cheap side when compared to more expensive amps, but they do their job fine.

Haven't had to use it. One thing worth noting though is that their website is very good. Check it out, includes full product range, pricing, you can download manuals etc....

Beringer would be doing themselves a favour to up the price a little and ship it standard with a midicontroller, cause you need it to make use of all those effects live.

At this price it honestly has no competition. It's competition starts at $1000 more.

For $700 bucks this Amp is money well spent. You are getting a twin channel stereo combo with 24bit digital effects built in. OK the inbuilt DSP engine is no GT-6, but compare apples to apples! I've been playing for 16 years, and these sort of combos didn't exist back when i started playing. If you're on a budget or looking to upgrade from your crappy 10W practice AMP then you won't find better value for money. Remember Beringer have been doing digital efects for years, so don't be put off by an apparent newcommer to the guitar amplification scene. They know there stuff as well as anyone.

As stated below. 2 Pre-Amps, one clean (superb) and one overdrive (good). Excellent DSP. Lot's of connection options, effectloop, Auxilary in, tape in/out, line out (with speakersimulation), headphone.
2x 60 Watts thru Jensen speakers. Really beats other 100 or 120 watt amps.

I use an Ibanez JS900 with P90 pckups and an Ibanez JS Chromeboy, both thru a BOSS GT-3.
This is the first guitar amp that really amplifies what the GT-3 delivers. Great PowerAmp.
The Pre-Amps I use in the external Effect loop of the GT3 so, guitar > GT3 > Behringer GX212 Pre-Amps > GT3 > Behringer GX212 Power Amp.
With this combination, you can do almost everything, even more !!!
The clean pre-amp is clean as it should be but with volume above 6 it gives you a nice crunchy touch, Perfect. The overdive channel is capable of lot's of different sounds, although not heavy metal, and sounds great. Especially mixed with the GT3 effects.

Just have it. so no experience here. But it looks very decently built.
I certainly will use it on a gig.

Never needed Behringer Support before for malfunctions.
I own more Behringer equipment and all work fine. Never had any problems.
When asking for information to their support department, they respond within 2 days.

Compared to all other stereo (and mono) combos this is probably the best, especially when used with MultiEffect pedals or modellers (like the POD)

I purchased my GX212 in early 2002, date of manufacture was 12/01. You know all the features from the other reviews, so I'll spare you the redundent details. This amp is VERY versatile except for nu-metal or thrash, (I do not play these types of music), but as far as good old-fashioned rock-'n-roll, blues or country it is KILLER for the price. As stated in some of the other reviews, the morphing knob is AWSOME, changning the overall tonal characteristics of the overdrive channel. The effects are pretty good over-all, some are great and some not so great, for instance the chorus' all sound kind of "canned" when compared to my Fender Prinston Chorus, but the reverbs are surprisingly natural, (springy) sounding. I play vintage-style original rock in a band with another guitarist, (who plays a Fender Super Reverb pushing 40 tube watts) and on stage it's hard to compete with his levels, so for larger gigs, I have to run the stereo line-outs direct to the P.A. which gives me a pretty full, natural sound, (especially with some of the stereo effects). Unfortunately, I am a struggling artist, so I can't afford an expensive amp, but dollar for dollar, THIS AMP REALLY KICKS ASS!!! My only minor complaint, is the MID-BOOST which is really more of a LEAD-BOOST, is not foot switchable. bummer...

I play a stock 1986, '69 re-issue rosewood Fender Telecaster with standard vintage-style single coil pick-ups, and it sounds GREAT through this amp! Sometimes it gets a little noisy when I am in close proximity to the amp, but not as noisy as my Peavey Classic 50 tube amp. With my GX212 I can get just about any type of sound (clean to rockin') that I would ever want, however this is not the amp for metal-heads, although with the right foot or rack unit(s) I am sure it could be.

So far I have had only one UNEXPECTED minor problem with this amp, it was plugged into a power strip, with the power turned off at the strip, and when I turned the amp on (with no power input) it wiped out all my user pre-sets. I'm not sure if this is normal behavior for this amp, or if it was just a fluke, because there is no documentation in the manual to explain why this happened. Other than that, I have had no reliability issues, although I have only had it for about 6 months.

I have been playing music for nearly 30 years and have owned SEVERAL low-end to mid-range amps, (both solid state as well as tube) and this amp is the best sounding amp (overall) I've ever had the pleasure of owning. I initially bought this amp because my Peavey Classic 50 was pretty noisy and not very consistant from venue to venue. I did not have a lot of money to shell out, and I needed a reliable, versatile amp for several upcoming gigs that we had already scheduled, and when I priced tube and solid state amps, feature for feature this amp was (and is) in a class by itself. If it were stolen I would DEFINATELY purchase another one AS SOON AS POSSIBLE!!!!!

Made in 2001. 2 channels, 30-some effects with 99 editable presets. 3 band equalizer for each channel. Overdrive channel also has gain, prescence, and morph (the morph is awesome). There are 3 adjustment knobs for the effects also, and 3 volumes, clean, overdrive, and master.

I play mostly punk and some hard rock, and this amp is pretty well suited for both of those. I've also had some settings which I can't recall now, that worked great for blues. It has two channels and channel switching. My only gruff is it may take a split second for it to switch channels, but if you aren't using a preset, just set them the clean and dirty channels to the same preset and you can get seamless channel switching. It does have features I never use, because now I don't know what to do with 15 different types of reverb, and I really hate the pitch shifter, but other than that I like all the effects. The morph knob is phat as shit, you can get so many different sounds out of it. I use this amp for everything, at home, rehearsal, performance. It's withstood it all, even though it is only 7 months old.

I use this amp with a Yamaha EG112, it's a piece of shit, but it cranks out some good tones if I smash it with my fist two or three times daily (I'm solving that problem by getting a les paul anyways). It suits my music style fine like I said before. It doesn't buzz much at all, if it does it is usually somehting wrong with my guitar, not the amp. The clean channel does get a little distorted when you crank it, but alot of combo amps do that. The distortion isn't really brutal, but it works well for most things (not metal).

It's built more rugged than any other 2x12 amps I've played. It's withstood numerous beatings, and i can only see a few scratches, and they are small. Hell, I even stood on top of it while doing the solo to The Kids Aren't Alright, by the offspring, and it held up fine, it was perfectly balanced so I didn't fall off :D
It's never broken and i haven't had any problems with it.

Been playing it for 7 months, I also own a small peavey amp that i dont use anymore. if it were stolen or lost, i wouldnt buy another one cuz im broke, i'd just find the guy, kick his ass, and take my amp back to my house. I compared it to other ones, and this shit definetly gives you more bang for goddam buck. 300 dollars, or i can go get a fucken marshall the same size for like 800. fuck them in the ass, i'll stick with my goddam behringer.

2001 model. The previous reviewer should have read the review just prior to that before purchasing. I do agree, that this amp would be a mistake if you want to play metal and the amp is the only thing you purchase. This amp is not like a Line6 where the only thing you need is the amp. If you want metal sounds, you need a separate pre-amp or stomp box.

If I want a heavier sound I'll use an overdrive pedal on some of the clean channel settings rather than the drive channel. And it sounds pretty good with my Big Muff.

Bottom line is that you'll probably end up using some additional gear to find your sound with this amp. For its price, I think it has a lot of features.

I am not really thrilled with the amp's drive channel - I do not like the distortion. The clean channel is very nice and the effects seem well mated to the clean channel. The drive channel just doesn't do it for me. With the amp alone I cannot obtain "in your face" or "over the top" distortion. That is not the only music I play, but every once in a while I like to lay it on thick.

As the previous reviewer noted, there is a delay when switching channels or switching effects. I do not find the delay to be overly burdensome. I do not think it would a problem unless I was playing live and the situation called for me to switch sounds immediately during a quiet portion of the song.

I have a Vamp2 which I run into the GX212 via the auxillary in inputs on the back and it sounds fantastic at moderate volumes. The amp faithfully reproduces the sound that the Vamp produces through the headphones. To me it sounds better if I leave the Vamp's cabinet simulation on rather than turn it off when I run it through the GX212.
At high volumes (e.g., trying to compete with a 100 watt tube amp) the sound is not as good.

Even with the problems described above, I still am pleased with the sound.

Mine showed up in Micronesia with no damages whatsoever. That's a long way to travel. But since I've only had the amp for 3 months I will hold off on rating this category.

I have e-mailed the company on various items and I usually get a response (4 out of 5 times) within about 2 to 4 days. And the guy seems genuinely interested in helping me out with my questions and concerns. I think the customer service has been pretty good.

Heed the previous reviewer's message - do not purchase this for metal sounds unless you are prepared to obtain your gain elsewhere. But this is not billed as a high gain amp, so usually this shouldn't be a problem. This is a pretty decent amp with some pretty good effects. If I paid $500 I would not be too happy, but Zzounds had these for $289. So far, it has been pretty good to me.

I play nu-metal and this amp sucks. 2channels. it has a HUGE lag time when you switch. Not good for clean changes between settings. Wish it would change cleanly and quickly. but it doesnt, so i sent it back. This combo isnt as loud as it should be. TOO WEAK FOR ME.

I have an ESP with Dual Humbuckers and a Kramer Voyager with triple humbuckers. I play NU-metal and This amp is NOT for Metal or any heavy style. very WEAK distortion, and SLOW channel changing. Sure it has plenty of good clean sounds, but your trapped with half of what it SHOULD DO. FX can overload clean channel at high volume or with intense plucking....DISTORTION SUCKS!!!!!!

Ill just say that when i got it in the mail the back of the cabinet was BUSTED, CRACKED wide open....granted that was UPS's fault but the amp is not STURDY AT ALL.....the tolex(or cheap substitute) even cracked loose

Amp was purchased new in 2002. It has two channels, clean and dirty. Clean has volume, 3-band eq and fx on-off. There are 99 fx presests. Dirty has mid-boost option, presence, overdrive, 3 band eq and "morphing" as well as 99 fx settings that you can turn on and off (only one at a time). The morphing knob is cool, it has these weird eq algorhythms to allow you to "shape" the distortion. A lot of the morphing settings are not so good, but if you have a decent ear and some patience, you can get wide variety of sounds. Problem is it is not programmable, so you have to remember where you like to set the morphing knob. The onboard fx... well, you get what you pay for. There are a s***load of jacks in the back, from slave input, to Aux in (you can play a CD player through this amp and jam with it), external fx, etc. This amp is powerful enough for me, but it is wussier than, say, the Crate 120 watt 212. If you want screamin' metal, don't buy this. If you want a flexible amp for a wide variety of music, buy this.

I play an american tele (kind of noisy - need to solder it better) and a crappy DeArmond Les Paul knockoff. Honestly the DeArmond sounds better through this amp. Whatever. I play in a lot of different environments / different styles, and this amp works pretty well. Nice thing is that it can play softly - that's good in a lounge or a small room setting. Won't get that in a lot of amps. The distortion sound is as good as you make it. There are a few good "combo" modeling fx which add a tube like distortion to the clean channel. What I normally do is use an outboard Alesis Nanoverb to get a general spring verb on everything, then I use Clean, then Clean plus "combo" distortion (slightly dirty), then I go B channel for aggressive distortion, then I use delay or phaser on B channel. So I get 4 pretty good sounds that are all foot-switchable. You need outboard verb.

Side note: I have a Johnson J-Station which I sometimes use to "slave" the amp. It sounds AWESOME. It is so quiet that when I am not playing, it sounds like the amp is off.

Again, dunno. zzounds was awesome, though. Send in the warranty card. I just read the fine print, and my warranty will be voided unless I send in the card.

I have been playing for fifteen years. Frankly, for the money, this amp is great. It's not for beginners, though. I think if your ear is not developed, you will not be able to get a decent sound. It's REALLY flexible, and some people just need stupid-simple. If you play anything from clean channel r&b to fuzzy American Rock&Roll, you will get what you need. This amp is best with bluesy / Neal Young half dirty gravelly crunch. The effects are in pre-set combinations, which works out okay, but I couldn't survive without my outboard reverb. It sounds better than the CRATE 212, but the CRATE is louder (and noisier) and better for metal.

- Thrashers will not appreciate as much (might be better of w/ LINE 6)

- I've been playing since 74. Used to have Tele deluxe (crap), ACOUSTIC head & MARSHALL Slant bottom. I have a 74 OVATION Glen Campbell acoustic & YAMAHA classical Also, a Yamaha keyboard. I
- I just got the Amp. I waited for two months. I thought for sure I wouldn't be able to get. I was going to buy the GX112 instead.
- I played a lot of comparable amps. In it's price range there is NO COMPARISON!
- The sound for the money is a 10, versus other amps that you would buy ($100 to 200 greater) it is an 8
- The effects are good & bad. They are high quality sound BUT (you'll REALLY dislike this if you buy the amp) you cannot combine effects. Not being able to combine the combo amp sound, etc w/o REVERB is crazy?!?!?!? I really don't understand BEHRINGER. IF THEY HAD THE ONE OPTION OF INCLUDING REVERB W/ ANY EFFECT THIS AMP WOULD BE AS GOOD AS any $800-$1000 AMPS!!!!!
- Otherwise, for the amount I paid it is REALLY nice.
