I know what you?re thinking. ?This is a Caveman, not a Mojo!? nope it?s a Mojo. It?s a rare prototype that I was told pre-dates the Caveman. The serial number is ?--/\P?, meaning the second prototype made. Bogner still has the first. I have the second, I don?t believe there is a third. It?s similar to the Caveman but different in many ways. This amp is more ?modern? and high gain that the Caveman, which is more vintage sounding. It?s loaded with two Celestion speakers, one a v30, the other a Classic Lead 80. Runs off two 6L6?s. Control layout is very similar to that of the Caveman, except the major difference is the naming convention of some of the controls and the Schizo switch. This has a 12-dial knob where the Caveman has a 6. It has a 50w to 5w switch, a NEW/OLD switch, gain boost (you can control the gain and the volume of the boost), and built in effects loop. Everything you need and more.

Sound Quality : 10
The sound out of this is nothing less than amazing. Between the two channels, new/old switch, and Schizo knob, you can dial in nearly every Fender and Marshall tone from the 50?s to the 90?s. I?ve even found Hiwatt/Orange type tones on it. It doesn?t do scooped mids new metal, but everything else. It is a tweakers dream amp. The Schizo gives the amp 12 different voices per channel, then another different voice per new/old, so this amp has the possibility for 48 different voices! Then you can eq each channel too!

I took it to my amp tech (who also builds amps and generally thinks boutique amps are a waste of money) to get his thoughts and he was blow away. He said it was the best amp he?s ever heard and it made him have to rethink the tonal qualities of his own designs. He was not so impressed with my Bogner Ecstasy. This is much more versatile than the Ecstasy, or any other amp I?ve ever seen for that matter. It?s almost like a POD in tube amp form. It?s completely incredible.

Reliability : 9
Before I got it, the previous owner had taken it into the repair shop. Turns out the onlything wrong with it was the pre-amp tubes. The tech put in JJ 12AX7s which I replaced with a mix of Chinese (Bogner standards) and Sovtek 12AX7LPS?s. Sounds killer. I don?t think it will have any problems. The only problem I have is that occasionally the yellow channel 1 light goes out. Probably can be fixed with a 12-cent part from Radio Shack and a soldering iron.

Customer Support : 10
The customer support at Bogner is great. You get what you pay for in that department. I talked to Reinhold and another guy about this amp and they answered all my questions to the best of their knowledge (many of them they couldn?t answer due to it being so long since they made this originally).

Overall Rating : 10
This amp?s tones are breathtaking. I?d buy it again if I had the chance even though I feel guilty for owning it. I really don?t use this amp to it?s fullest. It should belong to someone who?s going to open it up more often, like a professional or a recording studio. If I sell it, it will be because I don?t deserve it. Until then... IT?S ALL MINE!!!!!!!!!
