This is quite the amp for a small package. The clean is very nice and doesn't distort. The gain isn't overwhelming but if you want that extra crunch/twang there's the bass warp (pull on the bass knob). It's a good all around rock distortion. With the right settings and right guitar (2 humbucker with 3 way switch and single volume and tone) you can use both the low and high inputs along with a Boss line switcher footpedal to go from clean to distortion since there is no footpedal option built in. It does have an extension speaker output which I frequently use with either a 12" or 15" speaker. The two 6" speakers hold it back (even though they're aftermarket) and don't give a full enough sound.

As I mentioned in the features, the sound is great! No distortion on clean on high volumes and the gain is smooth and not too much. Again, if you want that extra punch, there's the pull warp. Needs larger speakers to sound really good.

This thing has been manhandled and tossed around like a bag of dirty old socks and still plays like it did when I first got it. It's durrable (but heavy for an amp of this size!)

This is definitly a good old amp if you can find one. I know they're uncommon, but they're a workhorse. Perfect for studio use, practice, or even smaller live performances

This is just a great little thing to have lying around. I use it for home practice use and for rehearsing with a couple of my jazz bands. It really has a great clean and doesn't distort a high volumes. I use it at homw with my effects pedal because they sound great paired together. It is a solid state amp, which is great for everything I use it for, practicing and rehearsing, because it doesn't need to warm up and it doesn't distort. It does have a gain knob which sounds fine for home practicing or for beginers but I much preffer my tube distortion for performances. Also the thing is so light that even if it sounded terrible, it's portability gives the features a ten!

Like I said, very nice clean, keeps steady at low and high volumes. The distortion is nothing special, but it is adequite if you only need it occasionaly. I play an American Fat Strat and a Washburn 335 copy with Gibson pickups through it and they sound great with the amp. I would say that it sounds best as a Jazz amp only because that is what I use it for most and It works wonderfully with the Washburn. I also use it at home with my Boss GT-6 and i play a wide variety of other genres (rock, blues, latin, metal) but that is just practicing.

Very reliable, this think has been dropped, fallen off of it's stand, kicked, spilled on, etc. so many times and it still sounds as good as before. A couple of the plastic coverings for the knobs have fallen off but thoses don't affect the sound.

I would have to say that this is a very nice and reliable amp, everyone should own one. It works well for almost anything you could think of using it for.

This amp is the big brother to the MG-10 pictured in the Boss Book on page 33. From LA Big Hair metal daze. See other review for features. I use it for low level acoustic guitar because it is so portable. Plenty of power in a small package. Solid state closed back. Almost like a poor man's GK250, but not as cool.
No FX loop and no reverb.
It has a midrange and a presence control, so lots of control over tone contour. This is a useful feature. It also has a pull-to-get-crappy-distortion feature on one of the knobs. I leave it in.

I use it with piezo acoustic guitar for quiet amplification. I also play a 1951 magnatone lap steel thru it and it gets a good Hawaiian tone. It was very inexpensive and portable. It is really hissy at low levels. It doesn't matter when everybody else is playing, but when we take a break it's like "What's that rushing sound?". To get rid of this, I leave the presence almost all the way off. It does get a really pleasing jazzy tone with my acoustic guitar piezo pickup at this setting. Surprizing amount of character to the tone this way.
By today's refined standards, the distortion sounds pretty crude. The clean channel gets plenty loud. The extra eq knobs are very effective. Within its limits, it is a satisfying and inspiring amp to play.

I've been playing since 1962. I own or have owned most stuff except a les paul. If it were stolen I would look for another cheap loud amp. If I found another of these that would be OK. I wish it had less hiss, but that's the price you pay for higher powered cheap transistor amps. It always surprizes people the good tone I get out of it. Wish it had reverb.
Other amps I am using right now include a Fender HR Deville 4x10, a Yamaha G100 2x12 brownface, Boss MG10, Silverface Fender Champ. I plug in an Ibanez AS200, frankentele, strat, charvel san dimas, assortment of non-pedal steel guitars (magnatone /epiphone/ fender), and my trusty old Guild D25M acoustic with fishman in it.
Efex include Boss DS-1 for the ibanez, Ibanez CP9 and Nobels ODR-1 for the tele, proco rat for the charvel, and graphic eq for the acoustic.

I'VE BEEN PLAYING FOR 30 YEARS. I LIKE AMPS THAT PUT OUT WITHOUT WEIGHING 100 POUNDS. THIS AMP GIVES ME THE ROLAND CLEAN AND IT ALSO
HAS A GOOD FENDER CLEAN SOUND IF YOU TWEEK THE EQ. I ONLY WISH IT HAD
A EFFECTS LOOP.
