This is a single channel amp with all the basics. 3 eqs, volume, reverb and two gains. it's a practice amp, not meant for lots of features.

This is where i think this amp is great. Has an excellent tone with both humbuckers and single coils. Don't buy this amp for the distortion. The gain isn't the best, even by practice amp standards.(should mention though that distortion/od effects sound great through it) But the clean tones that you get directly plugged in are fantastic (with room for good rhythm crunch).
Usually keep it maxed on all dials but the two gain knobs which i keep at a 1/4 each when plugged directly in.
For effects, I usually keep the gains the same with the eqs adjusted down to where it suits the effect.
What I like about this amp most is how it takes pedals and effects. I've played various effects (korg px4, boss gt3, random pedals, etc.) through this and it sounds better than most of my other better amps.
The amp really maintains a great tone and it's own personality with effects plugged into it.

Have had and abused it for years and it hasn't failed me yet. Give it a 9 so i don't jinx myself and it breaks down when i hit the post button.

I have only been playing for a few years. Besides the brownsville, I currently have a soldano astroverb head with marshall 412 cab, and a fender princeton. I have owned and sold a peavey bravo 112, and a johnson jt50 modelling amp. I really liked each of those and I still will always hold on to the brownsville.
For 80 dollars this has got to be one of the best values around. I have tried other practice amps in this price range and they sound like what you paid for, 80 bucks. This amp sounds like it wasn't an afterthought, (as the practice amp version of their better amps). If this were ever lost I would probably buy one of the louder amp versions of this amp from brownsville and hope it retained the same quality as this one.
I think if you are looking to buy this amp, you are looking to use it for practice and maybe to play with friends. For this purpose this amp can be loud enough and sounds great. And leaves you room to grow in terms of adding effects and capturing the nuances of different playing techniques. It is very responsive to style of play, which i think is important for a practice or learning amp, and can't say for many of the other amps in this class.

I have had this thing for about 2 years and it has been very good to me. I mainly got it so I had something to dill around with when my Peavey Classic VTX series (circa 1982) wasn't working. The single channel is kinda annoying when you want to switch between clean and distortion, but if you do as I and use a POD or OD pedal, you solve that problem.

I mainly use this w/ a Epi LP Custom or a Jackson DK-3 thru a POD or Boss OS-2. I like to play any type of music that stikes me at the time, so I switch a lot. The sound is very good when you keep the volume of the amp below 12 o'clock....turn it above that and it sounds like Indiana Jones in the snake pit (sssssssssss).
If you use the distortion on the amp, it really isnt that bad. You have to remember this thing is only about $80, so expecting the best thing in the world is unrealistic, however, it does a pretty good job. It kinda klugy to get that distortion since there are to chicken heads (distortion 1 and distortion 2). I am not really sure why they did that, but interestingly enough, there is a good variation in sound. A bluesy sound if you just use one dist and a decent crunch if both are used. My buddy has a Fender Frontman 15 and this thing kicks the CRAP outta that fender. AND IT WAS CHEAPER. (For all you people who worship Fender, I am sorry, but I am not gonna buy something just cuz they made it....some of their stuff is just CRAP).

Hey...all I have to say is this thing took a header down a flight of stairs. I picked it up, took it inside and plugged it in. Viola'...the same sound I had before. Can ask for much more than that (especially since it is cheap).

Had a year warranty....didnt need it....still dont need it. But Sam Ash can be a pain when dealing with them (just ask anyone who tried to buy anything from them....it takes about 45 min just to get someone).

Like I said, I havent been playing long....but I know CRAP when I hear it. I may not have played the guitar for long, but I have been a musician for most of my life. This thing is not crap...if you need a cheap little amp to travel with and have something to hear your sound, this is the amp for you.

I DONT KNOW WHAT YEAR MY AMP WAS MADE IN BUT I DO KNOW THAT IT HAS NO TONE AT ALL. I LIKE TO PLAY HEAVY METAL AND IT DOESNT GET ANY CRUNCH.THERE IS ONLY ONE CHANNEL AND IT DOES NOT HAVE ANY EFFECTS LOOPS BECAUSE IT IS A PRACTICE AMP. IT HAS ONE HEADPHONE JACK. I WISH IT HAD CHANNEL SWITCHING CUZ I LIKE TO GO RIGHT FROM ACOUSTIC TO ELECTRIC. I USE THIS AMP IN MY ROOM AND IT DOES NOT HAVE THE POWER I WISH IT HAD.

THE GUITAR PICKUPS I USE ARE PICKUPS FOR A STANDARD STRAT. LIKE I SAID LIKE TO PLAY METAL AND IT DOESNT SUIT THAT MUSIC STYLE VERY WELL.
THE AMP IS VERY NOISY WHEN YOU TURN UP THE GAIN AND IT GETS A LOT OF FEEDBACK AND GAIN. THE AMP HAS A VERY WEEK DISTORTION SOUND TO IT. WHEN I SET THE AMP TO CLEAN IT GETS A VERY MUFFED AND FUZZY SOUND. AND THE DISTORTION IS NOT VERY BRUTAL.

IVE BEEN PLAYIN FOR A COUPLE OF YEARS. I ALSO OWN A MARSHALL VS100 R AMP AND A MARHSALL JMP 1 PREAMP AND A MARSHALL 1936 2X12 SPEAKER CAB AND I HAVE A FENDER STRAT. IF THE BROWNSVILLE AMP WERE STOLEN I WOULD IGNORE IT. I HATE EVERYTHING ABOUT THE AMP. I WISH IT HAD TONE TO IT.
