Just like the rest of the reviews, this one was made in 1999 (I think)... it has a crappy distorted channel, a nice chorus which are both footswitchable, and an effects loop. The best thing about this amp are the 2 inputs (I can hook up both my electrics and run my effects through the loop or plug in an electric and my acoustic)

Sound Quality : 9
I use this for Praise and Worship music, and it is great! I stay clear of the overdrive channel, but the clean channel is clearer than any other amp I've ever tried... even at high levels! I usually plug in my Ibanez JS-100 in input 2 (which is quieter than input one) and my Ibanez AEL-50CS in the first input. My amp is always mic'd when I play in large venues, and it works great... Most on the team prefer this over the CRATE and Mesa that we have available for use! The chorus is good, but not great but I crank it up along with the reverb for some funky sounds mixed with my effects pedals.

Reliability : 10
It is great. I've had it for a year now and play on it almost everyday... I've never had any problems with it. Like I said before, I play mic'd, so I don't really ever get a chance to crank the volume knob.

My only complaint is that it needs a better and fatter distortion channel. But hook it up with a good distortion pedal (which I still have yet to find) and its golden!

Made in 1999, I purchased this Choir Boy 210 Stereo Chorus "used" from Sam Ash, for $149.00 . It's a copy of Fenders old Stereo Chorus (210, or 212). The chassis screams Fender! The grill cloth is a brown color as is the leather covering. One really nice touch is the use of Mini Chicken-Head knobs! You can basically tell at a glance from far away where they are set at!
It features 2 channels: Clean, and Overdrive, and they are switchable with a footswitch. It has a chorus effects loop, which is also footswitchable.
I primarily use this amp for Church, and for small to medium sized venues. For 30watts (60watts split to two speakers= 30watts) I can play in low volume situations, and still have plenty to "crank it up" when needed. I primarily play Christian Contemporary and Praise and Worship, with a heavy Blues/Rock influence.

The Clean Channel surprised me: normally a solid state amp's clean channel is harsh sounding to my ears. This one is almost tube like in its warmth, with a lil crispness mixed in. I can go from deep resonating warmth, to a bright, crystaline clean! Very versatile!
The Overdrive Channel wasnt quite as nice as the Clean Channel, but it still gets a good rating based solely on its sound: I can go from ma mild gain sound, to a nearly oversaturated Overdrive, without getting "muddy". Unfortunately, that is only for 1 thru 7 on the overdrive knob: if you push it beyond 7, it starts gettin muddy! You wont be able to coax Heavy Metal overdrive saturation out of it, but it does fit my style and sound quite well.

Reliability : 7
I havent had this amp for very long, but it has been trouble free so far (knock on wood!) But seeing that it is used, and it still isnt giving me any grief, I gotta give it an above average rating.

Customer Support : 1
This is where things start getting a little foggy: other thgan Sam Ash, I'm not getting a lot of Tech support: I'm unable to determine exactly who makes this amp, nor am I able to secure a Tech/Users Manual.

Overall Rating : 8
I've been playing now for 25 years. I've owned a wide assortment of amps, and I 'd have to put this one up their with one of my more favorite ones: Good sound, Versatile, Compact lil Combo, and enough punch (volume) even for some good medium sized gig's!
It also takes well to my effects: Morely Volume pedal, Vox Wah, Ibanez Tube Screamer, Dan Electro Phase shifter, and a Fender PT-10 tuner.
If the customer service were better, I would have given it a higher overall rating (posiibly even a 10)

amp was made in the late 90's it's 60 watts has chorus/reverb, line in/out jacks, headphone jack, 3 band eq, overdrive and chorus channels are accessable with either footswitch or onboard buttons also has effects loop

Sound Quality : 7
i use a yamaha pacifica and keep it on the humbucker all the time which suits everything i play (rock, metal)the dirty channel is pretty pathetic but the clean channel stays pretty clean even when cranked up to 10 the chorus isn't the greatest but with a little tweaking it gets pretty decent

Reliability : 10
let me tell you i beat the life out of gear and the brownsville hasn't given me any trouble. it's taken eveything i've dished out and come back begging for more. my halfstack quit on me after 2 gigs but my brownsvill i never have to worry about

i think overall considering this isn't supposed to be a great amp it's pretty decent. an amp for around $200 that stays clean when u need it to and that you don't have to worry about dying on you in the middle of a song is a nice thing to have. the only thing i would change would be the dirty channel, needs more bite.

I did NOT buy this amp but demoed it at Sam Ash in Miami, FL. I thought the clean channel was good enough to warrant this review. I loved the punchy, warm, and fat clean tone I heard with the clean channel's gain turned all the way up. For $200, I was shocked. For $200, will it stay that way long? I don't know. The chorus was not as good as the JCs but sufficient. The dirty channel was useless, IMHO.

I have been playing for 17 years now. All the gearheads at the music stores scoff and scorn when I plug into cheap amps like this. I don't care. This is the kind of clean channel that I can jam on for a very long time--and I play metal! Better than alot of tube amps I've tried. I used a cheap Ibanez to try it out and made the guitar sound better than alot of the other amps I tried. I also believe it is loud enough for small gigs--depends on your drummer. I did not get to crank it. I suspect it will not handle high volume for long. But again, $200? Put a pedal or two in front and you've got a cheap practice/small gig amp. I am still considering purchasing it.

New in 2000. Versatile two channel solid state amp with reverb and chorus. It is stereo 2x30 watts into 2 10" speakers. Effects loop and preamp in/out on rear panel. Front panel has clean/dirty drive and volume as well as shared EQ, also controls for reverb and chorus depth/rate. Headphone jack. Channel switching and chorus on/off can be done by panel buttons or individual footswitches (not included..I am using 2 Peavey single button switches). I am just using this amp at home. Very similiar to a Fender Princeton Stereo Chorus both in size and general appearance although the Brownsville has a much prettier grill.

Sound Quality : 9
Used with Reverend Avenger (3 singles) and a Yamaha AES500 2 humbuckers. Sounds great with both. Combining the reverb and chorus can make some real trippy sounds. Clean channel stays clean up real loud, distortion goes from bluesy to real edgey and feedbacky.

Reliability : 10
Just got it but it should be reliable as any solid state amp.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Purchased online from Sam Ash .. no mention of warranty and no warranty card was shipped with amp. I'm not concerned about the reliability issue.

Overall Rating : 10
This amp really reminds me of my old Fender Princeton Stereo Chorus. The major difference is price .. 179.95 for the Brownsville and 419.95 for the Fender!! This was purchased as a limited time deal from Sam Ash. I couldn't pass it up at this price. The reverb isn't as nice as the Fenders', but at this price.....I am real glad I snapped this puppy up.

This is a new 1998 amp manufactured by Sam Ash. They took over a closing Fender factory in Korea and introduced the Brownsville line with great amps, but with low prices since they are sold direct only through Sam Ash. The Choirboy 210 is their second-to-priciest model. It has two channels (normal and overdrive), two speakers and a 60-watt amp(30 watts per speaker). It has a 3-channel EQ with spring reverb and a built-in stereo chorus. The overdrive and chorus switches can also be used with foot switches. There is a headphone jack, an effects loop, and stereo preamp-out jacks. A very nice package. I use all the options. A very nice package. I think it's supposed to be a re-fitted Fender Princeton 212.

Sound Quality : 8
I use this with a solid-body Yamaha and an archtop Epiphone, both with decent sounds. I also use a veriety of BOSS effect pedals. I mainly like to play straightforward guitar rock. The overdrive isn't the best I've ever heard, but it is very warm and not like distortion unless you turn the gain way up. This amp packs a lot of punch and sounds good even when turned up alot. The clean channel is very clean, and it has adjustable gain for higher volumes to minimize unwanted distortion. The only flaw is that there are occasionally little popping noises. That's annoying, but they don't affect the sound at all.

Reliability : 9
It looks well built and I haven't had any problems with it yet. I guess I'd have to gig with it without a backup because I haven't got a powerful one. Once the fuse blew in the middle of a song, and I had to play the rest of the evening through our keyboard player's extra channel. So if you're going to buy this amp, carry an extra fuse!

Customer Support : 10
I haven't had any problems yet. Since this is sold only at Sam Ash, you can bring it into any Sam Ash store for service, so that seems like it would be very easy. And any Sam Ash customer knows how great they are there. I forgot whether there is a manufacturer's warranty, but I opted for Sam Ash's 3-year warranty regardless.

Overall Rating : 9
This is a great amp for the price. I only play smallish functions, so I didn't want to splurge on any grandiose Marshall or Fender. But this sounds exactly the same as the comparable Fender amp. It's loaded with features, built solidly, etc. Seeing that this is the second best of the Brownsville line, I think my next amp would probably be a higher-end Crate or something. But this is an incredible value if you can get it.
