UNDERGROUND 22: All Tube, P-T-P Wired, Handmade Class A/B 22 Watt combo 1x12 (8ohm Celestion G12H 70th Anniversary -Upgrade) stuffed into the "Bruno Baby" Cab -about the size a Deluxe. By choosing the smaller cab, you do loose one of the two inputs as well as the Reverb Tone control knob (Tony sets it at the sweet spot). Tubes:NOS 5U4GB Rect/(2)NOS6V6/(2)12AT7/NOS(2)12AX7 Controls: Ground/Standby/on-off/Reverb/Bass/Treble/ Volume/Input. Solid Pine Cab, very thick, with no cab buzz (ala Victoria Deluxe -which I know is historically accurate & intentional, but sometimes annoying). This thing can get loud for 22 watts. No multi-channels, no channel switching, no Effects loops, no Headphone jack -Don't want them either! SIMPLE, SIMPLE, SIMPLE.

Sound Quality : 10
Strat, Hertitage 535, Gibson Slab LP-Style w/Duncan Antiquities. This is a great Blues & Blues-Rock Amp. At only 22 watts, you can easily get that sweet Power tube distortion, and (though I am no pro)it can get loud enough to compete with a drummer at a small jam. The amp is relatively quite for a tube amp, but due to the smaller cab, and proximity of the various electronics, the Reverb tends to get noisy over 4 (but it also gets very, very wet at that point). Reverb on 3 is fine -I don't surf.

Reliability : No Opinion
Just jamming at home & with friends. Never had a problem. All quality components that seem like they will last for many, many years (mabey I'll give it to my son as an heirloom when he's old enough).

Customer Support : 10
Tony builds them & Gene @ Ultra Sound Studios, NYC sells them. Gene is very helpful & knows a lot about tone. Not pushy at all and not trying to get you to purchase MORE amp than you need or want. Tony is an electronic craftsman. He builds amps to sound great, no matter what it takes. He's a busy guy (hey, he's got amps to build) but also very interesting to talk with if you get the opportunity. The amps come with a lifetime guarantee. If it breaks, Bruno will fix it.

Overall Rating : 10
Truly a "Boutique" amp built by a master craftsman. It costs a lot, but I am not in this for financial investment, just an investment in tone. I'd love an Underground 30. One day mabey...
